What a sad world you live in. I guess you prefer the senile, incontinent plagiarist currently residing there? As to DeSantis, Florida was lucky to have him during the epidemic. You could have had Newsome or Whitmer closing your state down in a show of overreachingpower. But this is about a song and whether it should stay and I think it should stay.
Who do you think is campaigning to get rid of a song that paints their religeon in a bad light?
That’s right, probably not liberals.
Senile incontinent plagiarist sounds like trump to me, what year do you think it is?
Florida had nearly the same number of Covid deaths as California with half the population, you go on sacrificing your elderly and children to disease and guns because you don’t want to be bothered with safety. Please, cough on each other, do the rest of the country a favor.
I’m currently wrapping up our stage production of Hunchback, Hellfire is iconic and necessary. Removing it would be moronic.
But that’s republicans for you, always looking out for people that don’t need it and patting themselves on the back.
This whole thing is ridiculous. Who diagnosed Tangile emotion abuse? Uptight mothers who say home with nothing better to do. It’s a cartoon Disney movie. Get over yourselves
The song was always too dark for a mainstream Disney film. That being said, in and of itself, it’s time and message are powerful. My favorite subject? No. It makes me uncomfortable. But the tune and the emotion behind it? Sends chills down my spine. So I’m conflicted. I think at the end of the day, Hunchback can’t stand without the song, but that doesn’t mean I will love the theme of it. At the same time I fully understand if they cut it to tone down the film a little.
I can understand that the song may be controversial for some but it has always been my favorite. The entire film is so complex in its entirety showing how much a dark path can destroy someone.
You cannot have a HoND without this song. This generation has become too soft. Just because a subject is dark doesn’t mean we ignore or “cancel” it. I saw this as a fifth grader in theaters, and I survived.
Qonder qhat the anti woke crowd thinka of this. Probably happy af. Deep difficult historical accuracies are too woke for them. Will probably call the film satanic and hate the fact were supposed to be rooting for the poor and helpless, Instead of the religious zealot.
Ahh yes…because the woke crowd care so much about the poor…that’s why they offer up their homes to them. What? They don’t? Oh, well…uhh…at least they still speak out about violence against the homeless…unless that violence is committed by a minority. Then it’s silence.
Shut up. You have no room to speak on anything. You just want to feel virtuous, but honestly, woke people are the most abhorrent people in our modern culture.
And I’m not taking your comment of “historic accuracies” seriously at all, because I know you would probably vehemently deny all the good things that religion and religious groups have done and accomplished throughout history as well. If history only matters to you when you can pick at it selectively to back up your flawed point of view, then your words mean nothing.
It is an important part of the story and Frollo’s character. He is a creep in so many ways and the film is dark, but to lose the song is to lose a piece of the character.
When he sings the song, he bares a his different sides of himself that we don’t really see.
We shouldn’t shy away from something just because it’s a negative thing that we want to forget is real. Yes, it is animated film geared towards kids. But it also isn’t.
Let the song stay.
I think the song should stay. For the exact reason, those who seek its demise. It gives so much depth to Frollo. It would take a feature length movie to explain otherwise. It shows there is Darkness in the word, No matter the environment. Same goes for some Hercules songs as well.
HoND is my all time favorite movie. I’m a Millennial (88), and my opinion is not to cancel the song. Otherwise, the entire movie would have to be canceled. It’s a timeless movie, that will reflect the on-going social injustices for generations to come. Frollo is, in my opinion, the greatest Disney Villian, and he will never be outdone. Why? Because he’s relatable. Because there are REAL people put there just like him. There will unfortunately ALWAYS he people like him. This movie is a prime example of how those people can be overcome. As Esmerelda eloquently said, “You mistreat this poor boy the same way you mistreat my people. You speak of justice, yet you are cruel to those most in need of your help.” TO which Frollo replies, “Silence” and Esmerelda roaring back “JUSTICE!”. You can’t cancel the song without the entire movie losing its meaning…it’s spark…it’s dark undertone of reality in which isn’t all rainbows and flowers.
One of the main reasons why I grew up loving Disney is because it really did a great job portraying the world as it really was.
Now they’re afraid to do that now, and it’s sad. These old movies are art, and art does the best job at capturing a time in our history. Kids these days are going to grow up not seeing truth, but only the mirage designed to hide the truth.
It’s no wonder our youth is falling short nowadays. We let them down by pampering them too hard. And Disney most of all.
Good grief!! How are we supposed to teach our children good vs evil if we take it out of everything?!?!?! There is a reason that nearly every religion has a dark God type figure in it. It’s how we learn.
Taking Hellfire out of HoND is like taking out Winds of War from Pocahontas. That was controversial, too!!
I’m about as liberal as ya get, but we can’t afford to start rewriting everything because some has their knickers in a knot!
Keep the song! Keep the song! Keep the song!
What snowflake got offended? I grew up on Hunchback of Norte Dame and that was and is my favorite song in the entire movie. Yes it’s a dark song but it’s a dark movie! Ever read the book? That story is not a feel good story and yet it’s one of the best in my opinion. Just Disney trying to remake everything like they’ve been doing.
This another reason not to “live action” version of their animated classics. They (Disney story tellers) need to start using their imagination and create new and exciting stories.
As far this posts goes that song is such an important part of this story it needs to be in.
It would be like remaking “Star War” and cutting the scene out when they show how truly Darth Vader is with the younglings.
This would be a hard movie to make if you want to remove parts that might be offensive. You have a story set during the crusades about a disabled person, taken in by the church only to be abused and exploited by the same organization, who decided to go out for ONE DAY and is publicly mocked, tortured, and locked up by law enforcement. In comes a Romani woman who sees him as an actual person and stands up for him, and is subsequently branded a witch, hunted throughout Paris, and burned at the stake, all because father happy pants couldn’t sleep with her.
…and youre worried about hellfire being too much?
Might just need to roll with it, and make sure the focus is on what matters: acceptance and finding the courage to do what’s right.
Or maybe not make the movie if you’re that worried about it.
That song and its message is so powerful. It would be a mistake to remove it from the remake. If it makes some people uncomfortable they can just choose not to watch the movie.
I am disappointed that a simple question such as “Do you think they should keep this song?” Has devolved into a bunch of name calling and insults decided over political views. It had nothing to do with politics.
I, personally, think they should leave it in. It was a major piece of the plot and made Frolo human. Was he a bad guy? Yes. But he wasn’t just some evil monster who existed to be evil like most Disney villains. He was ambitious, covetous, and fanatical. He was real human evil. Something made him question his choices and that made him angry. He wanted something he couldn’t have, and that made him want to destroy it so no one else could have it either. Without that song explaining the complexity of his actions, he might as well just be another random nameless evil queen.
I think this movie needs to be made. I’m a Catholic and even i feel it’s something that needs to be viewed not just to remind every religious person that you shouldn’t judge and that the real villains hide their true colors. But to also remind everyone to remember that even “good” people fighting for moral causes hide disgusting motives.
I think the song is vital to the story. This film is dark but most of old school Disney films are based on dark themes – that’s the whole point. (Pocahontas, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, etc.) I believe they’re made in part to try to help introduce these life themes to kids so they’re not so clueless and shocked later on, so they have some kind of understanding of what the world is about – bad and good. Teach your kids about the real world instead of hiding it from them. These classic films were masterpieces…to the songs, scripts, actors, artworks, and storylines as well as being entertaining and educational. Nowadays everything is so satirical and soft. I hope they keep those key aspects in their movies moving forward instead of letting a few people’s dislikes ruin the magic for everyone else.
I was in my teens when this movie came out. Although at the time I did not get the full appreciation of the lyrics, it did impress upon me the dangers of religious fanaticism and emphasized the point that a lot of terrible wrong can be done under the name of good intentions. I see a lot of comments on here putting twists on the topic to suit a lot of agendas…did you all not watch the movie?? These tales that Disney pulls from are SUPPOSED to teach us lessons. If something makes you uncomfortable, perhaps you need to do some internal reflection and ask yourself why. Cancel culture is canceling everything that makes them uncomfortable or brings to light the wrongs they are doing. The real stories behind most Disney films are MUCH darker. Read some classical literature, be prepared to feel some conviction, and try to keep your panties out of a wad. It is what it is.
These people don’t want to listen. They are the Frollo in our reality. Frollo isn’t just a warning about religious fanaticism. He’s a warning to anyone that people overall, who try to do good, may have bad intentions or have forgotten what they fight for.

That orange buffoon and all his traitors are proof bad people will support bad people. Long live Disney. Down with that traitor RONDA SANTIS…

Too profane for G rated contents.

Liberals always want to cancel everything. Why? Because they worship the Satanic New World Order. They hate God so much.
Ana DeFiecit
So then why would they “cancel” a song critical of a Christian man then?

Tell me you don’t know what the song is about without telling me that you don’t know what the song is about.

To cut this song would cripple the film. It’s vital. It sets up most of the second act. It goes, and so does my will to see a live action HoND!
