That “Don’t say Gay” Bill is really on point. The word “Gay” is nowhere in the legislation. Consistancy is not something politicians are known to practice.
The law does not have to use the word gay, it uses euphemisms like sexual orientation and gender identity instead. This is just a talking point that has no bearing.
I think DeSantis is overall frightening. He is picking a battle he can’t win without affecting the other similar zones that are republican run. Do they want to give up their benefits? Do they want more code enforcement? You can’t separate them out just because one exercised their free speech.
THIS 1000%. The Villages have more special districts than Disney and Tiny D didn’t even look in their direction. Courts won’t like that. Disney’s gonna embarrass Ron the Con big time.
I applaud Disney for standing up for its employees. I am not gay, but I am neither a racist… we are all born equal, what we do with our lives here should not be a divider, we all have a right to live in peace and not be discriminated against. I hope Florida residents are watching carefully at what an authoratian individual looks like. Beware, the devil always pretends to be your friend and never comes dressed in red! Pay attention people to what is going on in your state! This governor will stop at nothing to curtail your freedoms to his liking! Vote every republican out, unless they stands up to defend ALL of us. We need to clean house before we can find again the republicans like Liz Cheney and the John McCains of our times. We need decent republicans who stand for the people.
there are over 100 places in Florida that run just like Disney, 2 of the bigs ones are The Daytona Speed Way an The Villages, which is an over 55 housing area. So is DeSantis going after all of them??? He is running for president an want so show he can be a big man, sorry he is just a little RAT. !!!!!!!!!!
The governors in for power grab. He’s always wanted to take Disney over he wanted the corporation. He wanted to run the corporation Florida got along fine no problems with Disney ever. I lived in Florida 40 years till he took over governor and hes ruined everything down here. People don’t want to come here and spend money anymore people don’t want to open plants here or business. Here afraid of what they’ll end up in hes running everything out of Florida. Is he gonna pay for everybody’s income? Is he gonna pay their bills? Is he gonna pay our bills because we can’t make a living here any more? No hes a high spending politician $12000. He spent on a dinner for 4 people. Can you imagine that that would have paid our bills for 4 or 5 months? Does he think about the people Florida no? Has he done anything about the flood victims? No? Did he make a call dad here when the flooding happened in Fort Lauderdale? No and the other problem is the Supreme Court of Florida informed him that the woke law cannot stand it’s against the 1st amendment he does not tell. People that. I researched it I know what I’m talking about it’s not in the law yet the Supreme Court told him it was illegal to do that whether I. Believe or don’t believe in the gays children are being punished. They’re being denied medical treatment? Do you have a child that’s gay? Do you know how they live? Do you know how what they have to go to through to survive? I don’t do you think I’m gonna punish him no? God didn’t punish him. And when he said god put him here heaven help us
1) Disney rocks! Disney brings in the most tourist business and money in Florida. I hope they decide to slowly just move out of state and let the chips fall where they may. Disney has been generous to a fault with its dealings with Florida.
2) DeSantis sucks! Crippling your best tourist business in a state that needs tourism is certainly not the way to win over your people. DeSantis is way down in the polls. Moves like this will continue to sink his ship. I couldn’t be happier.
Desantis lies and distort the facts for his political fuel, all so he can pound his chest and say “look at me, I’m fighting the WOKE culture”.
Disney waged no such “Jihad”. Sure, they spoke out against the bill and said they would fight to overturn it. But, in reality, they did nothing. There was no lobbying efforts nor a public campaign waged against Florida, Desantis, or the Legislature. In retaliation, this governor and the Legislature have waged war against Disney.
Central Florida was sleepy backwoods swampland prior to 1967, whose major attraction was alligators. Without Disney, it still would be. Disney has brought BILLIONS of dollars, residents, and jobs to the state for more than 50 years, and they’ve been a good citizen. Slapping at them right now to promote your own political aspirations will not end the way you think it will, Mr. Desantis. You’ve picked the wrong mouse (or rat as you seem to think) to try and catch.
Bob Chapek made a major blunder by politicizing Disney and attacking a Florida bill designed to keep sex identity indoctrination of young children out of the schools. Bob Chapek was accused by Bob Iger, the new Disney, of being woke, which is true. Now Bob Iger is trying to prevent Florida from having rightful control of certain functions at WDW.
In contract Law both parties can agree to circumvent state or local Law. Neither party can change their mind at some later date without both parties agreeing to the change in an ammendment signed by both parties. If there is a change in management companies the curent management company is still bound to the contract. If there is a change in government Laws both parties are still bound to the contract. If any judge were to rule in favor of just one party demanding changes while the other party was oposed to these cxhanges would destroy all contract Law nation wide. This is the chaos being created right now with this case.

Umm, if he went after every special district, then I could buy into his argument. I might not agree with his stance, but I could at least believe it.
The problem is Disney is the only special district he is going after, so, no I don’t believe it for a second.

I’ll make this simple and to the point:
1) Disney rocks! Disney brings in the most tourist business and money in Florida. I hope they decide to slowly just move out of state and let the chips fall where they may. Disney has been generous to a fault with its dealings with Florida.
2) DeSantis sucks! Crippling your best tourist business in a state that needs tourism is certainly not the way to win over your people. DeSantis is way down in the polls. Moves like this will continue to sink his ship. I couldn’t be happier.

Iger never accused anyone of being woke. When you have to lie to make you point it wasn’t worth making, John.
However, if he did, it’s not a terrible thing. Why? Because being woke is good.
Heck,, DeSantis own lawyer defined Woke as: “the belief there are systemic injustices in American society and the need to address them.”
Only fools think being woke is bad in any way, John.

Lose = to misplace an item or fail to win. ie DeSantis will lose the GOP primary.
Loose = not tight. ie: Trump has a few screws loose.
