This is all well and good, but… can’t help but feel maybe all of this foreshadowing would have been more effective, you know, before the movie came out? You can’t build suspense for something that’s already happened.

TRS was screwed by TLJ it probably would have been much better if TLJ hadn’t wrapped much of the storyline (like killing Snoke) up a film earlier.

You could still say Snoke was a product of Palps. cloning process, but Snoke was the best they could get especially since ol Palps. died.

*And kill Snoke in the last movie, you could even use the exact same closing act (with a few small tweaks) and just replace Palps. with Snoke.

Considering the history of the star wars stories letter reveals are nothing new nor noteworthy.

Even with this it still doesn’t make up for how terrible the sequel movies are.
TLJ and Ross are effectively unwatchable, even knowing how Snoke came to be and how Palpatine was cloned it doesn’t make up for the fact that these two movies are just plain bad.
Nothing can change that, except their complete remake, but that’s not going to happen.
All of this is just duct tape over a piece of garbage

The problem with the Palpatine clone thing was that Dark Empire from the Legends Canon was similarly divisive because of that (and superweapon spam; though I wonder if Dark Empire/Empire’s End/Crimson Empire became divisive more recently then back in the 90’s)…so it wasn’t that original. Someone like Palpatine could have done something akin to how Daemon Princes in 40K can return to the Materium had he made enough bargains with Dark Side entities or had enough influence to physically manifest without a clone. But Neo-Lucasfilm isn’t that creative to adapt such an idea into something unique to the setting.

Not only was the sudden return of Palpatine weird and off putting, what is worse now is star wars comics, novels, even the series providing backstory and lore to this.

The lore existed in the EU, it’s just you can’t make bad movies retroactive good by filling in the plot holes. Movies can be underappreciated at release and turn to cult status on further rewatches. Those movies get worse every time you watch them.

Anyone who knew any of what’s now the legends was guessing a lot of what happened.
The problem was Rain ruining the plot with Snoke and destroying the 40 years of people liking up to Luke Skywalker…
If they doing all this crap so quick I hope they find out TLJ Luke was actually Luuke and the real Luke Skywalker store never made him so crank old man yell at kids landing on his lawn…

The problem was not with the return of Palpatine…it was bad writing and the downgrading of existing characters to boost up the already Mary Sue that had no training for anything but could do anything…And dont get me started on the lightsaber fights…total trash…ya need a choreographer and people who can…i dont know…swing a saber…😕 Enogh w the force is female bad writing Kathleen Kennedy….she has taken a masterpiece and destroyed it with 7 8 and 9….SOLO….and countless other projects she sticks her nose into…HELL we almost lost John Faverou from Mandalorian because of her….You want a better track record besides the Mandalorian and Rogue 1? Simple….dont do what you wanna do…give fans what they want…AND YOU CANT GET RID OF KATHLEEN KENNEDY QUICK ENOUGH🤣🤣🤣along w the activist directors and writers…get rid of em…all

    I love Star Wars

Thank goodness they retroactively “fixed” this one specific problem.

    Only 199 to go!

Whatever you call 7, 8, 9, they are almost unwatchable for me. Watching TLJ in a theater was great but those movies were just awful.
