My high school! I stumped Dave Smith when I asked him how Mickey came to be Hallahan’s mascot. That was on a Disboards Podcast Cruise.

YES! THANKS for the great article! I am very proud of the fact that indeed, I enjoyed being a “HALLAHAN” girl! People always think I am joking when I share the fact that our beloved mascot was MICKEY MOUSE! Great to see the continued presence of my Alma Mater after the courageous fight to keep the doors open. I will always hold a special place in my heart for both Hallahan and Mickey. I am also a Floridian now! Class of ’88

I am proud to have Mickey Mouse as our mascot. I remember Karen Black was our Mickey during games. I got to be a cheerleader. Love and miss the tradition of last day of school jump in the fountain.

I’m a 1975 Grad from Hallahan and very proud to be. Since Mickey Mouse was our mascot, I had everything Mickey Mouse. We were very proud of Mickey and thankful that Walt Disney allowed us to have the most famous Mouse as our Mascot. Unfortunately, our school was closed but Mickey will always be in our hearts along with Hallahan.

My mom Margaret E. Mason (Smith) graduated from Hallahan class of 1949 and my niece Gabby Smith graduated in 2017. They were so happy to be Hallahan sisters. Sad that the school has recently closed.

I thought it was so cool that they had Micky Mouse as their mascot! If I’m not mistaken I think the Disney Corporation tried to have them remove Micky Mouse as a mascot but they had a signed letter from Walt Disney himself giving them permission.

John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls’ High School was located in Center City, Philadelphia. It was a great school and everyone was proud to have Mickey Mouse as their mascot. A male mascot in a female educational hub!

I am a 1964 graduate of the school and sad to say that this past year the school was officially closed by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. It was a sad time for the present students and all alumnae. However, our love of Mickey Mouse and our Hallahan will live forever in our hearts.

Grateful to Walt DIsney for this honor to cherish his friend! Thank you.
