Too little too late. Disney chose to fight and die with a lie on their lips. “Don’t say gay.” Disney made its choice. I made mine. Canceled Disney+, and neither of my two girls will see another disney film till their old enough to drive themselves and sneak see it. They like AB went woke, now going broke, and i will do my part to keep money out if their hands.

    1. Nancy

Why do you people hate so much? You’ve divided the country. Gay people are people and try not to hate anything woke because by definition it means more aware.

      1. Lonnie

This site just really attracts a lot of far right people who can’t go a minute without saying the word ‘woke’. I stopped being shocked a few months ago

        1. Paula

Disney is for children. Children need and deserve to be able to live innocent, wholesome, pure , lives for as long as possible. Disney used to help foster that. Now they are trying to sexualize, indoctrinate, and confuse our children towards perverted, unhealthy, and unnatural lifestyles.

          1. Joe

Gay people simply existing in the world or media is not indoctrinating or sexualizing children. Making a movie with a gay character doesn’t turn anyone gay. I grew up around LGBTQ media and people and did not turn out gay. Your sexuality is something you’re born with. I never chose to be straight. It just happened. When did you choose? Stop being a bigot. Stop letting politicians spoon feed you hate and tell you how to feel. Love one another.

          2. Monte H Lane

            Agreed 100%

          3. Mike

            They still do.

          4. Sabrina

            🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

          5. Anna

I love the idea that a princess getting married at 16 is pure and natural or whatever but being gay is inherently sexual. I hope none of your children are gay, Paula, or you can look forward to dying in the nursing home 🙂

          6. RickTR

No one is having parades or demanding special months for girls getting married at 16 (actually 17)

          7. William Meyer

            Hilarious!!!

          8. Tom

            100% Correct!!! Well sai!!!

        2. Andy

I agree woke can mean more aware. That’s not what’s happening here. Disney got political with its money and reach. Example would be the bill they thought they needed to inject themselves into. By calling it the don’t say gay bill. When the word gay isn’t in the bill at all. The bill in a nutshell simply stops teachers from teaching gender identity to little kids. Those kids need to learn ABC and 123. Let the parents of those kids decide if they need to teach them gender identity.

          1. Monte H Lane

Agreed 💯 … Teach basics and not indoctrinate the minds of our youth with liberal values … 👍

          2. Mike

You mean like empathy and kindness? Yeah, terrible values to instill.

          3. TJ

The GI and DEI program were not about being nice. My purple haired wife agree as much and said she didn’t agree with the curriculum as it was too advanced or simply not true. The good intentions of the DEI programs are totally warped by policy and grifters trying to sell books and votes. They don’t care that the course is too advanced for children and the teachers teaching it.

        3. Andy

Looks like it attracts the far left as well. Amazing how hypocrite people are. Everything someone says woke there is someone like you saying how sick you are of hearing it.

          1. Evan

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! You “conservatives” are friggin hilarious. You don’t even realize how hypocritical (that’s the actual word you were looking for) you’re being when using the word “hypocritical”.
Go back to yelling about “Obamacare”, which, unsurprisingly, is not in the actual bill.
Paula, in particular, needs to stop watching Q-inspired news as well. She’s just repeating all the BS she’s heard without doing any actual research. And if she has done research, then she might want to go to a more reliable source.
            Smfh

          2. Monte H Lane

If someone says. Crazy or Delusional or Wacko instead of do you think it might offend the guilty?

        4. Allyria

People like that have been fear mongered & indoctrinated to hate everything they don’t consider “normal”

        5. T

This whole article is gross. Y’all have the day you deserve.

      2. Chuck

It’s not hate, we just don’t want a social justice lesson everytime we watch a movie, a commercial or sporting event. We need to watch a movie with no mention to anyone’s (even hetro) sexuality. Thats all.

        1. Maggie

Every Disney fairytale I watched growing up had a ‘social lession’…Little Mermaid, defy your parents and change everything about yourself to catch a man you barely know whom your parents do not approve….Snow White, a kiss will solve all your problems…Beauty and the Beast, if he acts like a spoiled brat and has a temper you can change him to a prince by falling in love with him, Cinderella, if your being treated unfairly at home sneak out and you guessed it find a man to solve your problem…. Like seriously, all the women of my generation were force fed a series of fantasy films that said a man will make your problems go away, women are helpless, parents don’t understand you, blah blah blah. It was never wholesome, it just kept women in the mindset that they needed men. The people complaining about “woke” are the same ones that get on board with pregnant 14 year olds being forced to marry their rapists and carry to term. These are the same people who demand no sexual education in schools and then fail to educate them at home. Same people who think that their children learning about homosexuality will turn them homosexual which is ridiculous. Same people who fight for guns rights instead of people’s rights. Why do we care what these people think? So far from woke they can’t even open their eyes to see the world as it is, they have to demonize everything that challenges their comfort level as dangerous to the status quo. Someday we’ll stop listening to these idiots and everything will finally be fine.

          1. Rick TR

            Yeah, so?

          2. Amanda L

“…people complaining about “woke” are the same ones that get on board with pregnant 14 year olds being forced to marry their rapists …”

            😂 😂 😂 no offense, but I can’t imagine that many ppl take you seriously 😂 😂 😂

          3. Thomas

Not fighting for a gun’s rights – it’s an inanimate object. Fighting for (ironically) PEOPLES’ right to keep and own firearms. As to your other point, you deride Little Mermaid (not actually Disney, but a Disney adaptation of a Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale, like a great many of Disney’s classic takes you seem to take such a dim view of…) for encouraging the lead to disobey her father, sneak away, and change things about herself, etc. what about Moana? She fits the same description, and adds abduction and forcing someone to do what they don’t want to do, and then repeatedly puts herself in positions where she would’ve absolutely died had that person (whom she abducted and forced into action against his will) not been obliged to save her. And this is a better message? That’s up to each of us to decide…

        2. Allyria

Then everyone would be referred to as “it” or by their name in the movie you’re describing.

        3. Monte H Lane

Say it again Preacher …! 👍

      3. Paula

Nancy, We don’t hate gay people. But we don’t want their lifestyle and sexual choices to be shoved at our kids and us.
Also, the Left always uses terms that seem “Good”…lbut really have an agenda to destroy what is wholesome, and natural. The term Woke sounds like “being awake and aware”, but the agenda behind it’s movement is to destroy the family structure, confuse children about what is natural, and moral to further divide the family and society, and to create chaos, division, immorality, and confusion in our Nation.which leads to a fallen Nation, at which point Marxism and Socialism is easily brought forth. Every strong Nation that has collapsed into Socialism and Communism has done so through these same tactics. Walt Disney has decided to join forces to help collapse the moral fabric and foundation of our country. And they are using our children to do it.

        1. JC

To be honest, it really sounds like you are describing religion. Most empires, nations and countries fought and fell over whatever good book was decided for that region.
          Imagine there’s no countries
          It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
          And no religion, too
          Imagine all the people
          Livin’ life in peace
          You
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one
          Imagine no possessions
          I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
          A brotherhood of man
          Imagine all the people
          Sharing all the world
          You
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one

          1. Monte H Lane

Delusional reality of purposes and details of life it seems? 😆

          2. TJ

Yes the cultural appropriating, yellow fever, wife bearing, heroin addict, that forced his name on songs he didn’t write, and laughably rich and sued artists is really the best example of imagine. John Lenon what a stand up liberal.

          3. Rick TR

What the hell are you talking about?

        2. Louise

Then every relationship in Disney movies should be an issue with you. Any time a prince kisses a princess or vice versa there’s an implication of a heterosexual relationship. Are you opposed to all of those as well? Teaching “mature” topics like relationships. Or how about when a parent shows their newborn baby in a kids movie. That’s showing that obviously there was sex. These “woke” topics are just about relationships that happens to be between the same gender doing the same thing in the straight relationships of prior movies.

          1. Monte H Lane

Straight is God’s teaching that Jesus Christ set as a compass to His followers and as a first commandment to “be fruitful and multiply” with a father and mother named Adam and Eve in Genesis 1! 🙏

        3. Monte H Lane

          Nice details liberals can’t refute! 😎 👍

        4. Mipooh

Woke means alert to racial prejudice & discrimination! Disney has always been open to all regardless of race, religion, sexual preference, etc. I would rather be woke than a bigot any day. So to all of you who have your panties in a bunch GROW UP!! The LBGTQ Community has been around since the beginning of time & they aren’t going anywhere. So stop your high & mighty attitude & stop your judging of others before you are judges

        5. Rick TR

So in other words, we hate gay people.

      4. coylady6@gmail.com

No it doesn’t. Just because it’s Disney don’t make it right. They have basically erased Caucasian ppl from their baseline. What community of ppl do they think made their company so huge? Pshaw!! You woke ppl are this chaos, stop lying to yourselves. Wake up!!!

        1. Allyria

So you’re mad because non Caucasian people were added. Imagine if it had been predominantly Asian, then they started adding Caucasians, & the Asian people made the same remark you made? Sound a bit r@cist now? Ponder that a bit. Especially since Caucasians haven’t been erased at Disney.

        2. Monte H Lane

Agreed 💯% …! 70% of America is Caucasian and intentionally pandering to woke minded or certain classes while demeaning the white male or father figure or parental influence of not understanding the kids who go behind the parents back and everything works out for the good.

        3. Mipooh

Oh boo hoo, grow up! Disney has never canceled out Caucasian people. You little mind cant accept the fact that there other races in this country besides white people so deal with it! Disney accepts all people to come visit the parks.

        4. Rick TR

Race swapping established characters and picking actors based on their color and sexual orientation instead of acting ability is what is leading to Disney’s downfall. When was the last Disney movie you saw with major white characters? If other ethnic groups want to watch movies with actors that ” look just like them’, so do I.

      5. Monte H Lane

A moral compass with Jesus Christ Gospel as the compass 🧭

      6. Teri Hale

Has nothing to do with gay. Has to do with pushing agendas on children.

    2. Daryl-Rhys

Then you are a terrible father and you should have your daughters taken away from you.

      1. Chuck

        Because he cancelled Disney+?

      2. Daryl is a traitor

No. You need to be arrested for espionage.

      3. Monte H Lane

A great father who shields negative influences from his children that poison their minds! 😁

    3. Nobody cares. Cancel all day long KAREN. You do realize that woke means emotionally, intelligent, right? I can see how that would offend you or if you are.

      1. Read your Bible. No sodomite will inherit the Kingdom of God. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10.

        1. Jesus

So you won’t inherit the Earth, then.

        2. Monte H Lane

          Preach on 🙏! 👍

      2. Chuck

Really, use of that word is racist.

      3. Chris

I wouldn’t call someone who doesn’t know the difference between a male and female intelligent in any capacity! I believe what I see with my own eyes, kinda like the little boy in “The Emperor’s New Clothes”!

      4. Andy

Actually Woke means alert to racial prejudice and discrimination.

    4. lauren

      Cry more.

    5. Dennis Feldman

Has nothing to do with woke or conservative roots. The name of the game has changed. Technology has changed society and Disney+ was a step in the right direction. Wish may be as well, as Disney attempts to retain it’s family roots.

    6. Tony

LOL Justin. Disney has been gay forever. I worked there in 1992 and they gave same sex partner benefits even back then. They’ve also hosted Gay Days for decades. Your hate only makes me love Disney more.

    7. Mike

Give it a rest, Disney is NOT going broke. In fact, doing just fine. Personally, I’m wondering why you’re so against kindness.

    8. Sabrina

I feel sorry for your kids that they have to grow up in a bigoted household

    9. Monte H Lane

Support the positive shows or movies to send a message that good movies are financially the wisest way to go …. 🤔

    10. William Meyer

      Hilarious!!!

  2. Average Ethical Millennial

Censoring comments like DeSatan is trying to censor Disney is very on brand. Great to know what website to tell Google to never show to me again.

    1. J

The word “DeSatan” shows that you’re not average or reasonable.

DeSantis isn’t censoring anyone. He isn’t banning Disney from putting out movies with a certain message. He isn’t prohibiting movie theaters from showing Disney movies. He isn’t telling Walmart they can’t sell DVDs. Those things would be censorship.

But words have consequences. If you go to your job and insult your boss, you’ll probably get fired. If a company which gets special treatment from the government starts insulting the government, they might lose their special treatment. That’s not censorship. That’s not retaliation. That’s consequences.

The fact that you call it “censorship” shows that you genuinely don’t know what censorship is.

      1. Seljna

In this case it’s retaliation. Should they have gotten those privileges, probably not. But by saying “I’ll let you keep your privileges unless you piss me off.” Is retaliation. It’s the definition of retaliation. Now if DeSantis had decided to look into Reedy Creek 3 years ago, that would be different. And in some instances consequences can still be retaliation. And this is one of them.

        1. J

As I said, I don’t see it as any different than getting fired for talking back to your boss. You can do a google search and find loads of people who’ve been fired for insulting their employers on Twitter. I suppose we can debate whether that technically counts as retaliation, but the idea that speech has consequences should not be controversial.

There’s also the not-small matter that, shortly before the Reedy Creek Improvement District board was dissolved, it voted to give Disney all sorts of special privileges, essentially making it so Disney would continue to get preferential treatment from the state even after the District stopped existing. (An Orange County government employee estimated that the county loses out on between $65 million and $130 million in property taxes that Disney doesn’t have to pay, most of which would go to local schools.) That’s extremely shady and almost certainly illegal, and DeSantis ordered the new board to undo those changes, at which point Disney got mad and sued. So it’s not like Disney is exactly innocent here.

          1. Ollie

The first amendment doesn’t protect you from trash talking your boss. It does protect you from punishment from the government. Desantis isn’t Disney’s boss. He is the government, therefore he violated Disney’s first amendment rights.

          2. Andy

Wrong again. Not retaliation. Disney is now.having to follow the sames rules as any other company in florida.

          3. Allyria

Except that Universal & Sea World kept privileges that DeSantis took away from Disney. Not to mention the additional threats with raised hotel taxes & tolls.

          4. J

The problem with your reading of the situation is that Disney isn’t being punished. They were receiving special treatment, and now they’re not. “We’re going to treat you the same way we treat every single other business in the state” is not retaliation.

          5. Monte H Lane

Isn’t that the way liberal cry they want it with oil companies? “Fair and Unbiased” unless the liberals are paying their “fair share” of taxes! 😂

          6. Monte H Lane

Hypocritical “Big Cooperation” dodging paying taxes these left liberals cry big oil companies do but woke agenda minded “indoctrination companies ” liberal selectively leave out of condemning .. bc they support their liberal values that conflict with Christian values taught by Jesus Christ with a moral compass 🧭!

        2. Military mama

So all this pride nonsense is retaliation against straights then?

          1. Five

If that’s what helps you get off dude

        3. sfcpres

Do you know the history of those “special privileges”? Central Florida was a waste land in the 60’s. In order to secure a major business like Disney to boost the Florida economy at the time the privileges were granted. Walt did not like what was happening on the outskirts of DL in Anaheim. The government of Florida granted those rights. It is safe to day that without Disney, Florida would not be experiencing the revenue they currently have (considering the additional biz brought by others). The state could have put a time line on Disney, but did not.
As far lost taxes, who do you think pays the most in taxes to the state? Disney does. Florida has made out very well fir 50 years. Time to work with Disney and not against.

          1. Emma

I love it when you hateful people get so triggered. Call liberals snowflakes and call them woke all you want. Everytime I hear conservatives say those things I know it’s because they are triggered and allowing liberals to get under their skin. There is nothing unwholesome about families with gay parents or gay kids living their own life. And the only ones really really pointing out these relationships are conservatives. Is isn’t like they stop the movie with a PSA about how this character is gay or that couple are lesbians. The characters are just acting like normal people and it’s the people watching the films freaking out. Gay people are out in the world. They are part of our society. There is nothing wrong with them being represented in movies. The fact that it triggers so many of you just goes to prove that it needs to be done. These people need to be represented and shown like the normal people they are. Your hated is so deep in you that is just part of who you are, isn’t it?

          2. Monte H Lane

Nice analogy that will fly over many liberals heads on “Cause and Effects” ..! 😂

      2. Kh

He literally is censoring teachers from mention their same sex partner in high school.. This is literally censorship. It’s him saying that “gay is not right” and we should be hidden. If you don’t see this as censorship, then you’re part of the problem!

        1. Chuck

That’s a lie. He is not censoring anyone. Stop the nonsense.

          1. Allyria

Exhibit A: FL bill 999 where it specifies what universities CAN’T teach (aka censoring).

        2. Andy

Lol. You think DeSantis did this all by himself. The elected officials, you know the ones by the people for the people of the state Florida did this. DeSantis signed it. Why did it pass? Because the majority wanted it. Same reason things the right doesn’t like that gets pass by the left.

      3. Jeremy

Very glad to see that conservatives have moved on from childish name calling. Or is it only ok when your politicians do it? So hard to keep up anymore.

      4. Chuck

Well said. But don’t waste your time trying to reason with these people. They only know hate, as they rail and condemn anyone who disagree ls with them.

      5. Tay

You literally described “retaliation” 😂 in the workforce! Your “boss” couldn’t rightfully just fire you because you have a different viewpoint. Even at “work”, we are allowed to voice opinions or speak up if you don’t feel something is fair without the “boss” retaliating against you! Disney never said anything disrespectful toward the “government” or you know started an insurrection because they didn’t agree with the policies or outcome!

        1. J

If you were receiving special privileges that other workers weren’t getting – say, a longer lunch break – and the boss took that special privilege away from you after he found out you’d been bad-mouthing him to the other employees, that would not be retaliation.

“You no longer get special treatment and we’re going to treat you the same way as we treat everybody else” is not retaliation.

    2. ashton

oh wow, are they doing that ?? this website’s always given me odd vibes when it came up on google but i didn’t realize it was THAT bad

  3. gt

    Spellcheck?

  4. T

I’m not convinced and I certainly wouldn’t call Disney “conservative”. Just because they make one film without a gay character doesn’t mean they never will again.

    1. Syd

My thoughts exactly, just because they don’t write a gay love story for every movie doesn’t mean that they are going conservative again, it just means that this specific story isn’t gay

  5. Jacob Allen

    Asha needs a prince

  6. J

If you give people what they want, you make money. If you give people what you think they ought to want, while giving them condescending lectures when they don’t want it, you lose money. This is true whether you’re the gas station on the corner or Disney.

    1. L

Well said. Hopefully this one will be a return to real storytelling and not just a cobbled together list of talking points without much of a plot. These past few years of Disney movie making have indeed been disappointing.

    2. Rick James

Yup! No one wants to watch a gay 12 year old boy from an interracial family getting excited watching another boy, in a cartoon no less.

  7. Riley Marze

Disney should go back to its traditional roots and keep politics out of kid movies.

  8. Carl S

Disney’s early reputation was as the vanguard in the cinematic arts, and the experimental “Fantasia” and “Destino” as well as “The Black Cauldron” were box office disappointments at first. When a viewer has no particular expectations and keeps an open mind, the box office figures don’t tell the whole story. Personally, I thought “Strange World” and “Lightyear” were among the best films of the year, among the most entertaining ever produced by the studio.

  9. Samantha

Do I support everyone with talent? Yes. Do I support equality? Yes. Is Disney conservative? I doubt it. If princesses are still the same color then nope they are full woke supporters.

Politics should never be in Disney movies. And they would have to get down to the morals, virtues, value of self worth to bring back the integrity.

I love the classics. Some of the remakes are okay even great… But not all are welcome. To allow a race to take over is not unity. To change race is a threat. And as far as I can see, these new live remakes being tossed is a grand finale for some big change and I don’t want anyone to be alarmed when the attractions change. Which they already are doing. They are a big company that is greed on the young new generation. They touched into political views and have lost a lot of magic for me. So as soon as I can see a world where villains don’t need a story, main characters have more than one race, and there are no political views. Then I’ll talk on hopes and dreams being rebuilt.

    1. Syd

What do you mean by “where villains don’t need a story”? Doesn’t the backstory of a villain make them who they are? Therefore making an interesting villain

    2. Betty

there’s literally 50+ years of white main characters you can go back and watch. stop being a baby.

    3. ashton

i promise you, hans christian andersen HIMSELF wouldn’t care as much as you do about this. to be fair, that ariel disintegrates into sea foam in the end but like, i dunno, i think the change disney made turning it from a tragedy to a fairy tale with a happy ending was a lot more drastic of a thing than ariel being played by a person of color. regardless i’m excited for the movie. the cgi animals look a little off putting but this movie has a special place in my heart and halle bailey can SING. maybe just don’t take disney movies so seriously, it’s a lot more fun that way.

  10. Syd

My thoughts exactly, just because they don’t write a gay love story for every movie doesn’t mean that they are going conservative again, it just means that this specific story isn’t gay

  11. Jim

Florida better wise up! Ron DeSantis “woke” will make Florida “broke” if they loose Disney

    1. J

According to a study done by home mortgage company Quicken Loans, Florida has 6 out of the 20 fastest-growing cities in the United States: Fort Meyers, North Port, Winter Haven, Port St Lucie, Daytona Beach, and Palm Bay. Exactly one of those, Winter Haven, is within an hour’s drive of Disney World.

Disney is not the reason Florida is growing. They will also never leave Florida, because no matter what they say out loud, they know they’ll never find another place with the right intersection of pro-business policies (Disney World in Orlando was closed due to COVID for four months, while Disneyland in California was closed for an ENTIRE YEAR) and one of the top domestic and international tourist destinations in the country.

You say “woke” as if being empathetic, socially aware, and valuing the human dignity of others is a bad thing. Of course this is completely on brand, as your sentiment towards “woke” is probably very much liks some of your grandparents responded to desegregation and the Civil Rights Movement.

    1. ashton

      this exactly!

  13. Jomomma

The incel is strong in this “article”.

Hoping this movie does restore a sense of appeal to children and families. Entertainment is escapism fare. Society is ram rodded with politics daily. Most don’t want an agenda filled feature or deep philosophical themes. The successful formula is typically good v evil, Disney has forgotten that. In addition these movies aren’t made for Disney’s employees (regardless of their personal beliefs).

A five second Google search shows me that this quarter Disney’s revenue is up 7.7% Net income is up 15.8% Diluted EPS is up 16.6% and Net Profit margin is up 7.5% so when you say they are going broke, I don’t know what you’re talking about.

    1. J

That’s a lot of words when you could have just said “Disney’s stock price was $191.14 in March of 2021 and it was $93.20 in March of 2023.”

  16. Jeremy

The main character is brown. Isn’t that wokeism?

  17. PBR

    Looks boring.

How did I know the comment section would be lit. We are all fools Disney gets paid DeSatan gets paid. They both draw in the people they want to stay in power and we are too blind with self-righteousness to see that they don’t give a fk about any of us. We hold up these people and corporations as Gods, like they are going to save us from the evil on the opposite side. But when you truly look at the counter side all it is, is a mirror showing you that you are only causing harm to people just like you. This will probably get more hate from the right than from the left but just ask yourself does any of this really truly effect you?

    1. ashton

bro im an anarchist so im about as far left as they go and we vehemently dislike corporations to say the very least, like we agree with you lol. i can appreciate a disney movie with heart, ironically enough the black cauldron is a special movie to me for that same reason, but disney like, the corporation? yeah, they’ve always sided with money because it’s disney and that’s what they do. personally though, i think it’s kind of a too little, too late situation considering they were pretty much on board with don’t say gay until it was passed. i genuinely don’t see how so many conservatives make things as minuscule as this their big issue. like, there are bigger problems than being reminded that queer people exist lol

  19. ProfessionalHater

call it Wish the way it looks like it costs 4 dollars and sucks so bad

Finally, a well written and truthful article about Disney’s recent creations. I’ve not been a fan of anything Disney has done with the exception of Encanto in the past few years. Soul was great too. The story telling SUCKS these days. It’s just a bunch of whiney babies using the movie as a therapy session and to get some attention. Turning Red was pathetic. Lightyear was awful. Strange World. What? I couldn’t even get through the first 10 minutes of Turning Red but I decided to give it chance because of the standards Disney has always placed on their movies and I just knew it would have to get better. But wow. It got worse and worse and I can never get that hour and a half back. The language they are using these days is extremely cringey. The only beautiful thing has been the animation which I do give their artists credit for. I want good stories that take me places and inspire me, not stupid, petty drama with crappy character development. If I wanted that, I’d watch a soap opera. Classic Disney and the 90’s era will always be the best. Vent over.

  21. Dawn Keibals

You do realize the lead actress is a queer Afro-Latina who is very active in her community and supporting these items Disney stands with. Guess nobody else actually considers the talent in this and only the story.

  22. Maggie

I thought they would never take the hint. They kept making the same mistake over and over. If only they would do the same for their Marvel and Star Wars movies.

Woke is infiltrated many aspects of life in America! “Sifting the Wheat 🌾 from the Tares” of God’s people! 🙏

This article makes an interesting assertion that Disney is purposefully taking a more conservative approach with “Wish.” That’s a pretty big assumption considering the trailer was just released, the movie doesn’t come out until November, and nobody knows the plot yet.

That said, (and you may want to look away from your screen for a moment), the person who voices the principle character, Asha (Disney’s first Afro-Latina princess), is Ariana DeBose. The hyper talented DeBose identifies as… (Gasp!) queer. Not that it matters. Talent is talent, and all you can tell from the trailer is that Disney is trying to tell another sweet little story.

Does the movie skew left? Right? Neither? Who knows? It hasn’t come out yet. And it’s not possible to discern whether or not there’s an agenda from a two minute trailer that’s mostly comprised of pretty visuals. Artificially foisting a conservative bent on a movie you haven’t seen yet is wishful thinking (see what I did there?). But congratulations on the unnecessarily politically charged click bait!

  24. Zoë

Claiming that these new Disney movies are bad because they have people in them is absolutely ridiculous and has nothing to do with their repeated failures. They’re just mediocre movies. Disney has to do more to stand out now because the bar for feature length animated movies has been risen by movies like Into the Spiderverse and the new Puss in Boots. If you *seriously* think that including queer people in their movies is a bad thing, you are extremely immature and should maybe step back and take a look at yourself

  25. Kat

This is the worst article that I’ve read today.
Conservatives need to grow a thick skin and stop being crybabies every single day.

    1. J

Riddle me this: is representation in media important?

If it is, aren’t conservatives allowed to be – perhaps even supposed to be – by the lack of sympathetic depictions of conservatives and Christians in media?

“Grow a thick skin about the fact that media companies hate you” is probably not advice you would give to black people, gay people, transgender people, etc, is it?

  26. Kim B.

Please explain why their new movies are ” woke”? Because there’s characters that aren’t white? Different cultures? Encanto was a HUGE hit! The Strange movie was just not great. It had a weird plot and was all over the place, had nothing to do with being “woke”.

What a strange article. You don’t come across as being a Disney expert, you come across as being another biased agenda pusher from the south.

  27. Allyria

They were never trying to “appease the wrong audience” lol. This article seems quite tone deaf in its stance & political undertones. One can never please 100% of the people 100% of the time, but one can evolve & realize that being more inclusive & less hateful is the right way to go.

  28. Kai Woods

To be entirely honest. They had something with shows like “The Owl House.” Which was canceled because it “doesn’t fit their image.” Which honestly made no sense given the show only deviated by having their main protagonist be bisexual. Everyone says they don’t want ANY sexuality shoved at them, then that would mean they’d entirely stop watching princess movies where the princess marries a prince and what not, because does that not have anything to do with sexuality? In truth they just dont want gay folks on tv because it goes against their perceived idea of the norms The world should follow

  29. Looks woke asf to me. They can’t trick me anymore.

  30. RickTR

And…still another Disney movie with no white characters. Pass

  31. Alicia

Their formula works! I can’t wait to see it!! And she looks like me!! The goat is so cute!!
