They did the movie wrong. Part of Shazam came from having the wisdom of Solomon. Wisdom doesn’t translate to being immature as an adult. And the foster kid thing….unbelievable adding them to the mix with the let’s pretend we are all happy and loved is very unbelievable and then you introduce them as Shazams as well. The director deserve everything he get for making this trash…the writers should be fired for writing garbage twice. The female gods in this movie was looking for a paycheck or maybe it was pro Bono work for them.

I saw this movie as a preview before it hit the theaters. I’m a 66 year old woman and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was action packed and very funny. I’m shocked it didn’t do well.

      I agree.

Hardly surprising, the entire DC Verse has been dumped, why get invested in stories? I loved shazam. seems like a waste, honestly im not paying for DC movies going forward, sick of incomplete collections and archs. The moment they cancelled the superman movie for another reboot i wa sout of all of it.

When you cancel everything with no plan for anything, why would the audience get invested in the stories any longer? A bit of self fulfilling prophecy on DC’s behalf. Not a surprising result given everything DC has done.

Agreed an absolute trash of a movie. Did not like the first movie, not interested in watching the second one.

Shazam 2 screwed up with it’s writing. I thoroughly enjoyed the first one as did my 14 year old daughters but the sequel felt like 2-3 steps backwards. The writing was atrocious and throwing in the gay angle was little more than virtue signaling and it makes me think they hired woke writers to do the story. The writing was juvenile and clearly going for teh woe ideology. If I were Zachary Levi I’d be ashamed of the movie not because of the actors but teh writers and director.

I saw it in theaters and loved it.
It was a great movie. I don’t know what people are complaining about?

The problem is DC movies. It’s been since 1989 (The first Batman Movie) and that was a good adult comic book movie as they tried to rebrand after the 1980s Superman movies. The issue was they had No longterm plan on how to develop the universe. I read comics and everyone who read comics understands that for the majority of the story lines it’s One Big Living Story. DC has dropped the ball even though Star Wars, Marvel, Star Trek… all have shown this is the blue print for success. Now Shazam! Here is a movie with no progression or character development from the first movie and on top of that DC kills the movie before its release with the destruction of all story lines and no confirmation if these characters have any continuation moving forward. Poor business decision or was it on purpose to make their future plans look even better to stakeholders. I watched the movie… it was mindless fun like a 1990s superhero movie… nothing more but again why is anyone surprised by DC studio. They are what they have shown… business men who really don’t understand the comic book universe.
