Thinking everyone else in the world has to tip-toe around your feelings or issues, and that because you don’t want to see something everyone else should also miss out. Talk about selfish
Wear earplugs, stop asking everyone to tip toe around you. You would ruin it for the majority, but as usual the minority will scream for their way and everyone else is wrong.
Husband has Asperger’s and i have ADHD. We both have anxiety and both love the dragon. It’s literally the focal point and one of the most loved parts of the whole experience in Diagonally. If it’s too loud, consider bringing headphone to help muffle the sound. As for the crowd stopping, i get the annoyance but it just shows how many people are enjoying it. It’s not right for 1 person to ruin it for hundreds of thousands.
Try headphones and Dramamine for anxiety. Now that you know about it, you can better prepare for it next time.
Its a theme park, of course there will be loud noises and other things going on, if those things bother you than you shouldn’t visit. They don’t have to cater to every single person who has issues. See if they offer a sensory night instead.
I hope you learn that life is hard and making everyone else suffer because of your problem isn’t right. So if the color red triggers you should the rest of the world stop wearing red? When does it stop?
We all have mental health issue’s its a 21st century problem, saying that people need to take responsibility for themselves and prepare their excursion around their needs. It’s not for the rest of the world to bow down to them. Do your homework it’s pretty easy to find out what anxiety triggers a theme park my hold
I don’t certain foods, guess what I don’t order them 🤷
I’m sorry but I’m sick and tired of this day, age and generation thinking that something wonderous and amazing has to be quelled and quieted in order not to trigger, or offend someone. Life wasn’t modeled around your anxieties or triggers…neither are theme parks so PSA GET OVER it. I’ve never been here but if I ever get to go I’d be more than upset I missed out on hearing the train or seeing this dragon breath fire because of one person’s anxieties…you know you have anxieties and panic attacks…therefore STAY TF HOME
What a selfish clown LOL it’s a theme park that’s the point of it…. That’s like going to a pizza parlor and then complaining to them that you hate the smell of pizza for them to get rid of the pizza LOL what a moron
It’s not insensitive, it’s the honest to god truth. It seems like anyone has a minor problem with something they always bring up some sort of illness to get someone to change something that no one else has a problem with. If you have anxiety, yeah it sucks, but you need to deal with it. Crying over something shouldn’t change it. The change should be due to safety reasons about the animatronic not a guest. If it scares you or triggers anxiety…DONT GO THERE AGAIN!! plain and simple. Stop causing sadness for everyone else because you know you have anxiety yet you still go. Grow up!!
I have a phobia of spiders there’s a part at WB London experience that you have to walk by Aragog. I was shaking felt like I would die my anxiety off the charts but you know what I didn’t do, tell them they need to remove him because I know others really enjoy him there. You just move on with your life and deal with your issue.
Exactly! I fear spiders too, but the world does not revolve around me. Growing up in the 70s really wrecked me for what we’re living in now. It’s a hard world, suck it up buttercup.
Lmao.. How moronic is that? You have anxiety and a THEME PARK triggers you? Well DUH!!! Theme parks are loud and crowded. Would you like them to clear the park of all the people too because you can’t handle the crowds? Do you go to concerts and ask them to turn down the music? Lmao.. Maybe go to a zoo instead.
Good grief ! Appreciate that she has anxiety but wow ,expect the masses to change for a few (or one )again!
How long I have stood there waiting for that dragon to breath fire ?…it takes forever anyway!
Its like saying a ride made you feel nauseated so change it ! …you just wouldn’t, you’d just never do it again…
The thing is, there’s even fair warning that the dragon is about to off. It rumbles on and off for a few minutes PRIOR so you know it’s coming–and it’s at a theme park centered around fantasy and whimsy. This is like going to a Haunted House knowing there are jump scares and whining about it. If quiet and uneventful is what you want, there are public libraries for free. Just save money and don’t go.
Right? That fire breathing dragon is far from the loudest or most surprising thing at Universal. There’s tons of other stuff there just as Loyd, just as attention grabbing and cause just as many people to stop IN THE MIDDLE OF THE GD WALKWAY. Stopping in the walkway is the real crisis here- people need to quit just stopping right in the middle of everything everywhere just because you got a text or think you need a quick picture or to look at your shopping list or whatever you’re doing. Take that mess over to the side so the rest of us can continue to get where we’re going.
All the parks are like being at the club with all the music blaring all over. It could be five notches down in general volume. The dragon could go off less regularly too- this excessive loudness issue also impacts people with autism, brain injuries, PTSD, adhd and more. The US is a neuronormative and ableist society. It’s clear we could ALL use anything that would help us be more collectively peaceful.
I’m triggered by not having a dragon and train noises. If people aren’t pulling out their phones every 5 minutes I have a panic attack. So this part of universal mad me feel like I was in a safe space. So now what
I can sympathize with people that have anxiety and all but not everyone can be pleased. Either try to work through the issues….never go back to that theme park or land again or maybe have a friend that goes and tries to help with the anxiety and panic.
It would be never ending if places try to accommodate every single person’s anxiety, panic, height, age, heart trouble, and the list goes on.
You literally observed “as everyone stood still every five minutes”. So the vast majority of people enjoy it and are interested in the dragon otherwise they would just ignore it and move on. Sounds like you are unfortunately in the scant minority trying to ruin the experience for everyone else because you are uncomfortable. Why don’t we just go ahead and limit rollercoasters to 10 mph for people that get anxious when going too fast while we are at it.
No. It is a crowded theme park if you have anxiety about noise and crowds then you should know there are both at any and all theme parks the world over. I hate crowds but I deal with it the best I can to be there for my own enjoyment as well as for my kids.
As someone with anxiety, I empathize, and am sad to see how horrible people are reacting in these comments. Now the problem is that, while anxiety is so incredibly hard to deal with sometimes, you can’t expect everyone else to change everything to help your anxiety. It is on you to deal with it and find good coping mechanisms. Though honestly I understand the crowd congestion. Maybe they could set off the dragon every 30 min instead or something.
I’m sad that so many comments are rude and insensitive. Anxiety is real, and sometimes debilitating. However, the majority of people attending the park do not have an issue, and truly love the theatrics of the dragon. Me included! The world can accommodate to a point, but asking the park to turn off the dragon is quite selfish.
Maybe being able to visualize the mechanism that makes the prop work would take some of the fear away. But as Spock said, “The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few”.
I got a great photo of it belching flames while waiting in a queue out of the foot traffic lanes.
Noise canceling headphones might help individuals. I know many kids and Adults that use different levels of sound proofing headphones in public, at church and home to deal with noise.. they are fully able to bring them in the park and they fir in the free lockers for rides that dont allow carry-ons
Sorry you have an anxiety disability. However, what did you expect? Going to a place which has special effects, gives warning they have special effects and even tells people if you have any disabilities that could be effected, to avoid the attractions. Yet you choose to go to these places anyway and expect the majority of others to have a less than fulfilling experience, because these warned about special effects trigger you?
Kinda selfish on the anxiety riddled individual if you ask me.
I do find that the stationary dragon takes away from some of the realism for me as well. However as far as your triggers go it is up to you to learn how to live in this world and manage your anxiety. It is not the job of the world to conform to you. Perhaps seek the help of a professional who can help you to come up with some coping mechanisms.
I have a severe anxiety disorder And depression. Whenever I see the dragon go off it actually makes me smile, not freak out. people are just too sensitive these days.
I don’t like the dragon because it makes Diagon Alley look a little too hokey. It takes away from the full emersion of the experience. That would be why I’d get rid of it.
As a person who has experience in Guest Relations in the Florida theme parks, please be aware there are resources available to provide assistance. If loud noises are a challenge, GR will gladly provide the locations and times of loud experiences and provide ear plugs. This allows one awareness to be inside a merchandise location, for example, when an event is happening.
My son had several years where fireworks at Magic Kingdom were too loud even with ear plugs. We would race into Mickey’s Philharmagic, where he had an empty space to run and play and watch the attractions show without others around. Those are wonderful memories actually, even more than when he eventually was able to watch the fireworks.
GR personnel are there to help with these issues. I have done it for hundreds if not thousands of Guests. We, generally speaking, take great pride in helping Guests overcome any negative scenario they have experienced and desire to help prevent negative experiences so Guests only have the best experiences possible. It is our job, and we do it extremely well.
I’m probably going to get a lot of hate for my comment, so I won’t respond to it, but here goes… It bothers me when I hear people talk about their or their children’s sensory issues like “Can’t stand in long lines, can’t deal with big crowds, don’t like loud noises, etc., and choose to attend a theme park that has all of that and more! I can’t do rides that spin! Guess what? I don’t get on rides that spin!!! Their argument is always “I have a right to be here” or “My child has a right to enjoy the parks!” No! You don’t have the right, you have the privilege to be there. “My child doesn’t like the water and is afraid of seagulls. Here’s an idea, lets all go to the beach! I demand that you remove all the birds and turn off the waves!” That’s how stupid it sounds!
Fellow ADHDer, ASD, with PTSD here. Hi, Hello. Listen. Whom ever wrote this, doesn’t speak for me. My (repeated) experiences at Diagon alley is where someone like me with these mental health challenges actually chooses to mentally go to for anxiety and PTSD triggers. My first time was literally magical and I cried because it was such a beautiful moment in my life. Don’t change a thing ❤️
Just another example of the new generations that expect the world to accommodate their every need. I am afraid of heights, but don’t expected every roller coaster or ride to be under 10 feet tall. Besides, the dragon doesn’t go off that often. While we were there, there were several long periods when it didn’t go off. Exaggerating the pr[blem doesn’t make for a stronger argument, it just emphasizes your need for the rest of the world to accommodate your individual desires over the desires of tens of thousands, if not millions, of others.
I’m so F…… sick of DBAG entitled people going to public places and wanting change because they aren’t comfortable.

A theme park has all sorts of sounds lights etc. If things of that sort upset you and make you anxious I think it’s time to look at your triggers and see about figuring out a way to deal with them through talking through it medication or other anxiety means. I’m sorry but I have major anxiety and panic disorders, myself but I know my triggers so I don’t go there. I stay away. So just stay away from your triggers and leave everything and everyone alone. Thank You

I love the dragon. Anxiety is real and it’s truly sad that people suffer from it but there are ways around the dragon.
I do agree that both HP areas are incredibly congested and there’s not a great flow of traffic but it’s a little too late to change it.

People suffer from all kinds of things. Dwarfs are short. Should we lower all the tables in the world to accommodate them? No. They work around it.
