Hi! I am Emily Kaht, the woman this article is about. Thank you for covering this story. Unfortunately, your coverage revolves around a glaring inaccuracy: it does NOT, in fact, cost $10k to create a record, nor did I create this one. First of all, the category already existed on Guinness’s website and had for years before I even learned of it. Second, I did not pay any money to set the record. The process for setting a record is completely free unless you pay for an adjudicator to watch the attempt or for expedited review of your evidence. I did neither. If you gather the evidence yourself, send it in, and wait, the process is completely free. That’s what I did. I would never blow $10k on something like this, and it arguably approaches defamation of character for you to claim that I did. I’m sure it was an honest mistake, but I would gently suggest to confirm information like that for yourself in future (such as by confirming with Guinness or even doing a Google search) instead of simply repeating what people on Twitter are saying. This also could have been avoided if you had reached out to me for comment. Nonetheless, thank you for your coverage, which is less vitriolic here than elsewhere.
