Such a shame. Its just dirt with a fence around it now. It was such a good option for offsite dining. Chevys, Uno, Sweet Tomatoes, TGiF, McDonalds, Flippers, Perkins. Discovered new restaurants on Palm pkwy/Turkey Lake last trip.

I’m sorry Disney but y’all dropped the ball on this one. Clear violation of the first amendment which strictly prohibits government from retaliation for speaking against them.

Um did you know desantis board wants to rename 1,000 man covers 380 trash cans add 2 fire trucks among other agendas. Guess who has to pay for that not Disney. It’s the state tax payers

      1. Sarge

Yeah DeSantis managed to switch the burden from Disney directly to taxpayers, and they love him for it haha.

      2. Sally

You understand that Disney is a Florida tax payer, right?

    2. Corey

I believe it is in litigation still, Disney may prevail and possibly be able to get compensation.

I like Ron but this wasn’t a W for him. Taxpayers are now going to have to foot the bill for a lot of this infrastructure and law enforcement. I don’t see this benefiting anyone long term or solving any problems.

Right, as they should. If they have to pay more in taxes it’s because they weren’t paying enough. Also this is a very affluent part of town, lots of folks with lots of money living next to Disney. This is eventing out the playing field and making it fair for everyone.

        HUH?????

    2. Sarge

Seems like it benefits Disney pretty well.

Desantis is a POS. Disney should fight back. Keep doing the magic- Disney.

    1. Pat

Sorry but disney has lost its magic when they stopped being a family oriented place and gave in to the woke culture. They listened to the lie about a bill and just went along with the few and forgot the ones who actually went with their families

God, the writing on this site to so bad. Grade school children write better. You force the reader to go 4 to 5 paragraphs deep into the story before getting to the crux of it. Talk about burying the lead. And those paragraphs leading up to the lead are just fluff. The same fluff in every story here. I understand about SEO, but come on.

  6. To all the whiner’s who are saying that now the people who live their have to start paying for the public services like the rest of us, awww. To all the whiner’s who say Florida’s taxes will go up to cover the local costs, you need to rethink that. Think of the millions of dollars in newly collected taxes the state will get from a company that openly believes it’s normal to teach a 5 year old what gender the should be based on the teachers opinion.

    1. Erin

      Exactly! Well said

    2. Sarge

lol keep imagining things there, Sparky. One, it’s weird you think Disney wasn’t paying taxes as they absolutely were and still are, and yes, they funded their own projects before this, so now taxpayers across Florida get to. Next, find me ONE example of a teacher even suggesting this nonsense anywhere. It’s never happened, so good job wasting even more resources against a non-existent boogeyman while raising Floridians taxes.

It’s the Parents’ right in Education bill get it right. Nothing is wrong with Disney World losing its self governing status. Disney should have lost it years ago. Disney World also didn’t follow Florida’s Covid-19 protocols. Because it took them forever to reopen and had mask and vaccine mandates.

So the government should be able to tell businesses how to operate? Is that what I’m reading? Are you some sort of socialist that wants to force businesses into the will of the government??? I get that your state was actively trying to kill it’s constituents and had the single highest death rate from COVID among all states (which, seriously, that’s impressive) but forcing businesses to participate is kind of gross.

      1. Tico

Lmao “actively trying to kill it’s constituents”

So you can’t grasp how a virus that kills mostly old people will have a higher death toll in a state full of old people??

Also, no, the law ensures Florida taxpayers don’t have to footy the bill. And finally, the government isn’t telling Disney how to run its business – it’s removing a perk that ONLY Disney had, and no other theme park enjoyed.

How is leveling the field a bad thing?

      2. The Situation

Exactly. DeSantis is a train wreck.

        1. Dee

Florida voters overwhelming reelected DeSantis. The majority love him and don’t agree that he’s a train wreck.

    2. Charlie

Not parents rights, just those on the right who want to censure our rights to be free

  8. Roger

Disney thinks 50-75 years into the future, DeSantis thinks no further than the next election cycle. Disney will come out on top in the long run – but perhaps not in Florida.
