I hate to see a new ride being demolish but if it has to be done for safety reasons but I think they could have the ride manufacturer company come in and get the ride back in safe running order but it’s not my ride and maybe they could replace it with Huss Break Dance 5 as there next ride.
If they were worried about safety they would have stripped Slingshot Group Inc. of it’s licence to operate any ride. Like any other ride in existence, this ride is perfectly safe unmodified.
Dismantling this ride has absolutely nothing to do with safety. The ride was safe before the young man died, it was safe when he died, and it is still safe to this day. The operator of the ride is who killed the poor Young man, not the safety of the ride. He allowed him to ride when there was no possible way it would be safe. Dismantling this ride is simply a gesture to appease the woke mom rather than because of the ride has ever been unsafe.
It’s unfortunate that the attraction is being dismantled over the actions of an irresponsible ride operator. The ride itself is safe when the operating protocols are followed. There really is no reason for the attraction to be dismantled. So sad and unfortunate.
Can we just stop for a minute? A 14 year old way over 300 lb kid that the parents were not there to supervise was unfortunately killed. The blame remains on the parents! Obese doesn’t even cover how big this kid was. And the parents who were not there #1 let him get that way and #2 weren’t there to keep him off the ride. It’s sad that we live in a world of entitlement and the ride needs to go instead of the parents. The parents SHOULD have been charged with manslaughter!
The cause of the accident was a modified restraint safety sensor on two of the rides seats. A modified restraint safety sensor could have caused anyone to fall out, since it was no longer in the ride manufacturers specified and tested parameters. If the ride was not modified he would not have fit, and therefore would not have ridden, and therefore would not have died in this accident. Parks fault.
If the kid wasn’t black, would we even be hearing about this story? A white kid died on the monorail at Disney. Was the monorail dismantled? Were there any black lawyers there calling for that? One word. NOOOO. The owners should have let their insurance pay the family and move on. Ridiculous to dismantle the ride. ICON park would have to pay me MILLIONS to dismantle it if it were my ride that I spent a bunch of money to put there.
