Not everyone is going to love everything anyone does — The drama in the Star Wars fandom is enough evidence of that starting with the hate/love for the Ewoks and continuing onto the prequel love/hate, to the constant flip-flopping today.
But Sonic HAD to change, that was a universally acknowledged truth that his teeth and all of him was bad and scary, lol. I genuinely don’t know how he got past preproduction in the first place.
