There’s a reason they are the lost boys, not lost kids. And changing tinker bell is the same as when they changed Ariel. It makes no sense, this woke left pandering needs to stop. If you are doing a remake then remake it the right way.

    1. Bert

Who’s to say this is or not the “right way”? You? If you don’t like it, don’t go see it. Simple. Or not in your case.

      1. Chris

Bert is woke and likes men.

        1. Gary

If it is WOKE it is a complete DISASTER !!

          1. TC

If I remember right in the book they wanted Wendy to stay because she was a female and like a mother to the lost boys.

Also let’s see if they make Tinkerbell the way she was in the book jealous with murderous intent. Same with the mermaids who try and kill Wendy.

Here’s what’s next! “Parent Trap” but it’s going to be a brother and sister who switch this time!

This might be a step up for “Frozen” but all drag queen cast!

        2. Bert

No Chris, I LOVE MEN! But not you.

          1. Blackstar

You know what? I am going to watch this film. I don’t care what other people are saying, I am going to watch it and see what happens.

        3. Yo

DISNEY NEEDS TO STOP BEING FAKE WOKE AND CHANGING ALREADY MADE CHARACTERS, ITS DISRESPECTFUL TO THE POC! GIVE THEM THEIR OWN ORIGINAL CHARACTERS! ITS NOT ABOUT THESE CHARACTERS GETTING A RACE CHANGE, ITS THE DISRESPECT THAT DISNEY IS THROWING AT YALL AND YALL THINK ITS INCLUSIVE!? ITS LAZY! IRIDESSA IS HER OWN FAIRY WHY NOT MAKE HER OWN SHOW OR MOVIE!? DISNEY IS SO FAKE IT KILLS ME.

          1. I really don’t care. It’s not even a theater movie! I won’t give Disney the time of day, for soooo many reasons!!

          2. Jorm

But you still troll Disney sites…

      2. Backcountry164

The original author gets to say. Duh

        1. Dave 62

Is disney trying to implode the company?seems to be a senseless remake. Is disney doing this just to piss off their use to be fans?

        2. Jake

What is this Woke term? I m having trouble finding the definition

          1. Jonald

It’s just an overuling idea that we need to be as inclusive as possible or we can’t do anything which I think is complete bogus, instead of taking peoples race into account why don’t you find someone who is suitable for the role based off the source

      3. mcballs

the original author is the one to say how it is… that’s why everyone is so pissed, you moron

        1. macel permenter

If it’s a good movie, it’s a good movie. If the story is good…Duh…and the actors are good then what’s your real issue here? What does color, gender or orientation have to do with it? Are you a purist? Do you go to your closet and worship a mock scene of the crucifixion of Christ? Well then grow up for GOD’S sake!

          1. Hudson Toddodd R Hudson

That is what is happening with disney movies today. Im not going to go see it. Im not saying not to be inclusive but make new content not take old content and fix it according to people. Why change things if it ain’t broke dont fix it. Disney last few movies have all not lived up to expectations. Whether over poor story, politics, or poor cgi. Its time disney goes back to what they know

        2. Phillysub

Disney is pandering to certain demographics. Let me pay $$$ to see this garbage.

    2. MB Walling

When will people realize that “woke” has no meaning. What do you mean by it and why are you against it? Remember the opposite of “woke” is asleep, unaware or out of touch.

      1. Backcountry164

And yet somehow you’re both. Imagine that. It’s almost as if your excuse is nonsense…

    3. maxximillian@gmail.com

They are a business. They go where the money is, if they are making a remake to pander to the left, the left is paying. If the conservative right wants more conservative right movies then they need to pay.

      1. mcballs

their stock has dropped over 50% and they just laid off 10K workers, they are, in fact, not “going where the money is” woke investment firms like Blackrock and activist HR/DEI employees are destroying Disney

      2. Snicker

And this is why their streaming is losing money and income from the parks have to support it! Leave the darn classics alone!!!

        1. James

Interesting how conservative voices call this reimagining of a story a “woke” pandering but don’t raise a brow or a fuss when the Christian’s “reimagined” most of the pagan and Egyptian storytelling and lure and padded their Bible with it. Perhaps they were fine changing stories of other cultures and ethnicities to Caucasian but not so comfortable with letting others retell “white” stories.

    4. brenda

You do realize that in the original Peter and Wendy stage play by J. M. Barrie, Peter Pan was played by a woman and this continued through to the 1930’s, whilst Tinker Bell was a stage hand using a powerful lamp and a small mirror to dart light around the stage.

    5. Quinton

Were you this upset when they had grown man and woman play Peter and tinkerbell in hook?

  2. Adam K

You also missed the 2003 film, Peter Pan (which features music used in Disney World commercials such as 2008 Year of a Million Dreams).

  3. Emily

JM Barrie write that there were no girls in Never Land because girls were too smart to fall out of their prams. Wendy was convinced to go to Neverland because they boys “needed a mother”. That’s the basic story. I don’t have any issues with multicultural actors playing characters. However, in this case the gender of the lost boys is integral to the original story.

    1. Heidi

I don’t know about “integral.” The original story also has Wendy’s parents discussing giving her away because they can’t afford kids. Nobody ever includes *that.*

      1. mcballs

the mental gymnastics you woke lunatics go through is hilarious

    2. Addy

They don’t care what they ruin. Comedy is still warm in it’s grave. 😬

    3. brenda

In the first stage production of Peter Pan and Wendy, all of the Boys were played by actresses: “Members of Peter’s Band were Joan Burnett (Tootles), Christine Silver (Nibs), A.W. Baskcomb (Slightly), Alice DuBarry (Curly), Pauline Chase (1st twin), Phyllis Beadon (2nd twin).” I guess that Barrie really didn’t have a problem with girls playing his boys.

      1. Jay

But the characters the were playing were boys and the played them as boys. There is a great history in theater of men playing women and women playing men but not of taking an established show, established for generations, and up and changing the genders of the characters.

  4. Guest

When will they rip out the original characters in the Peter Pan ride, and replace them with these new depictions…??

When rewriting the world, it’s all or nothing!

  5. Jim

Disney cries that they are losing money and having to lay off workers, but still sinks millions into movies that they know will flop just to pursue their woke agenda. Sad how the mighty have fallen. Hopefully the company that eventually buys them out when they go broke will reset the legacy that fans loved.

    1. Tim

They do it because they don’t have any real talent at Disney anymore. The creators need to make something, so at least when they create woke garbage they can fall back on blaming the flop on the “racist” audience. Then it’s not their fault.

    2. Richard

That’s the only thing they have left since it is blatantly obvious they have NO Imagination left. So they simply re-write successful adventures with the “voice of the day” hoping to attract anyone to the NEW flavor of the day! Disney is dead and rotting!!

  6. Matt

When your main reason for remaking a classic movie is to demonstrate how “woke” you are, it’s going to be a disaster. And why pick Peter Pan? It’s already been done too many times.

  7. Azza

Disney is now driven not by profits but by the Deep state and their Neo Marxist social engineering of society.
Undermining white men and western culture are key agendas. ‘Diversity’ now means ‘less white males’ thus it is a sexist and racist ideology.
Ultimately they want division, divide and conquer means that when society is fighting each other they won’t be able to focus on the real enemy, the puppet master deep state. They also want no national identity or culture, they want homogenous continental populations that will fall easily under a communist world government umbrella.

  8. Nathan Lee

Do any of you even know the definition of WOKE. If so, please explain how it is a negative thing. Woke is Right! But hey, if the racists see that as a threat, more power to the ‘wokesters’

  9. Mickeymouse3

The movie will fail simply because it’s another re-make of something that has been remade several times over.
The script may change slightly. The cast may change slightly. Bottom line is, it’s still a rehash no matter how ya slice it.
People are tired of retreads and want something new. When will Disney learn this?

    1. EAK

Native Americans? These characters aren’t American. Shouldn’t they be referred to as Native Neverlanders?

  10. She

Not interested in any more woke jokes. Not going to see it. Get back to what made you great. Families. Not politics.

    1. Wokey

Knock knock. Who’s there? Woke joke. Woke joke who? Woke joke YOU.

  11. Chris Kinney

I don’t care if Tink is purple, I love the Peter Pan story, and I’m excited for any new take on it.

  12. Jon de Linde

Its going to be another “Checkbox” movie where getting the right “diversity” and “representation” is more important than telling a good story or just staying reasonably close to the source material.

Thankfully my kids are past the age where this movie could be interesting, so I wont have to fork out a dime for Disneys foray into the politically correct.

    1. mcballs

      the croc will be trans

      1. Bert

Sure hope so! My trans family is great!

        1. Ray

Your trans family is mentally ill and delusional. If you actually cared about them, you’d get them psychological help.

          1. SleepyRay

Ray is mentally ill and delusional

  13. Backcountry164

If it’s “problematic” then just don’t do it.
Oh that’s right, modern day Disney is creatively bankrupt. They don’t have the talent to come up with original ideas anymore. So they just spend tons of money buying other people’s ideas or rehashing thier own back catalog. They have to do this because it’s all they’ve got.
Why do people still support this company?? The magic is LONG gone…

  14. Austin

The REAL question is how many characters will Disney make gay or bi?

    1. mcballs

Tick-Tock the croc is now trans

  15. DisneyGoBroke

Thank you Disney for giving me another reason to not support you or your artists or your parks anymore. You continue to let me know you aren’t a company for all people anymore.

  16. Sarah

Live action “Princess and the Frog”, but, Tiana is white. Now who’s offended?

  17. Tonya

All I see here are opinions. And like assholes, everyone has them. Noone here is right or wrong and everyone is entitled to their opinions whether you like it or not. Now, go do yourself a favor and turn off the internet and go read a book. May I suggest Peter Pan?

  18. The Dude

I know it’s fantasy so I don’t care what color or gender people are but when you change historical figures like Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn to being black, I have an issue.

…. That being said, i can’t wait for them to make a movie on Shaka Zulu and cast him as a white guy from the Scottish Highlands. /s

  20. When they remake Princess and the Frog live action, will Tianna be a white, blue eyed blonde girl???? Yeah. Didn’t think so.

  21. Mom-mom

I was a kid when the original Peter Pan came to the local movie theater. . .
I enjoy seeing ‘remakes’, especially if translating cartoon to live action.
I don’t give a rip about casting people who aren’t a perfect match to the source material, be it book or myth or historical event, as long as it’s entertaining and visually interesting. . .
I watched the trailer and am looking forward to this version of the Peter Pan saga.
All the negative commenters should turn their attention and energy toward real social problems surrounding them and DO SOMETHING, personally, to cause change for the better rather than waste their time ( & ours ) spouting vitriol about a nonexistent ‘problem’, just because the internet allows you to shoot off your mouth.
That said – pun intended – at 73 I couldn’t care less about any replies ( bad or good ) to my little missive.
I’m gonna watch this remake and if you’re interested, watch it, too.
    ‘Nuff said!

    1. Addy

Too bad it’s not that simplistic of an issue. At 57 I’m fairly certain that Walt would not be happy.

    2. I’m with you on this. I’m actually excited to see this movie. Peter Pan is one of my favorites. I don’t care that Tink has darker skin. I also think the new Little Mermaid will be good. Again I love the diversity. I appreciate the inclusion. I see little girls, boys etc feeling like they’re important and represented as well.
If you disagree, keep scrolling and don’t see the movie, it’s that easy.

  22. Steve

I agree that a good movie is a good movie but changing the race of, making one of the main characters gay, etc, in the remake is just a turn off. If you want to add a new character to the remake to be socially compliant, fine. Just quit trying to bend over for the new “Woke” croud. If you haven’t noticed, it’s NOT WORKING!

    1. Bert

I drink your anti-woke tears then lick my lips.
      (ewww – salty)

    2. Wake up Disney!!! If it ain’t broke do not try to fix it because it will bomb!!!! Leave Tink alone!!!

  23. Marc

I was raised from 1966 BIRTH, with both origional PETER PAN in DISNEY cartoon version, not as well as all previous versions I grew up with both from silent film days and Broadway stage play days, to Disney on Ice with the greatest PETER PANS EVER OF ALL, MARY MARTIN, SANDY DUNCAN. I understood my entire childhood why both women and men played PETER PAN. My mother did a fantastic job explaining the truth behind this and no hidden agenda by Disney nor any other producer or entity. Now the difference is a hidden, evil agenda for variations and deviations with no true explanation and parents today are evil along with Disney deviants. The past cause no harm because truth was told and now evil prevails and hidden deviance exists. Very different times from 1920’s, 50’s, 60’s during conservative honest times and now in 2000’s till now hidden agenda deviant times. Go figure the flip flop.

    1. Addy

      Couldn’t agree more! 💯

  24. Chris

Predator World is getting what it deserves. I feel sorry for Walt, his creation is being DESTROYED!

    1. Red

People who get upset about fictional characters looking different then in THEIR imagination, really need to evaluate their lives.

A fictional character can literally be anything, even magical beings, because they literally don’t exist outside of people’s imagination. If you can’t imagine anything besides white men, you have a serious problem. And I bet if we saw the porn you watched, white men are probably third or fourth in your fetishes.

    2. Lol

Chris, jobless a 400 lb man sitting in his own filthy EZ chair calling others “predators”. LOL
Go wash yourself creep, I can smell you from here.

  25. Laughing at Conservatives

Woke: a term created by backwoods knuckledraggers to indicate that something is not allowed to be racist, sexist or bigoted anymore. Get over it, RWNJs. Equal rights for others doesn’t mean fewer rights for YOU: it’s not pie.

  26. Nic

This is 100% awful!!! Why ruin a reboot with incorrect character casting with all this “woke” crap? To make the Walt himself turn over in his grave? How about you stay true to the classic or don’t make one. No one wants to see a mixed Tink or a female lost “boy” or any of that. If Walt were still alive he’d fire the entire staff at Disney!

  27. Ion

Mixed black tink? F-off with that bs. Fail!!! No gays, no trannies deviants etc! Disgusting!!!

    1. Lol

I mean, your mommy was a toothless druggie hooker and your dad was her pimp, but SURE, let’s judge. Go cry some more, L00ZER!

  28. Rroe

This is again why the Governor of Florida has put the clamps on Disney. The company is out of control.

  29. Elaine

There are a lot of people out there who seem upset at any changes made to anything. Personally, I look forward to this. Instead of simply remaking Peter Pan again, they’re reinventing parts of it to make it more appealing to a wider audience. I look forward to seeing a Tinkerbell that looks more like my daughter than me. I look forward to seeing lost girls and boys. Both J.M. Barrie and Walt Disney were born in a different era. While some things were better, many were not. Walt Disney died in the middle of the Civil Rights era, while many towns were still segregated. That didn’t lead to a lot of diversity in his movies, and where diversity did exist, it was often in the form of stereotypes.
Now, it’s a new generation where diversity rules. It’s still not perfect, but it’s a lot better than it was. Now, girls like my daughter can look at Tinkerbell and feel seen as much as I do with the original. She can look at Ariel and feel seen there, too. Disney is simply allowing more girls to feel seen than before and to feel like they can be anything. There’s nothing wrong with that.

  30. This guy

I would assume as a writer that they would create new characters and new stories. Use the same universe as Peter pan or little mermaid. Have the black blue green whatever fairy but have her own story, tinker bell already had her story. Same with Peter pan, him and ol hook have their story so make new ones Disney.

  31. Setnakt Spears

11, so what? I knew that I was bi when I was 11. And Peter Pan was pansexual! Get it? Pan was pansexual 😂🤣😅😂🤣😭

  32. Zakkarius Smith

Disappointingly this article does not mention the 2003 version of Peter Pan which is, by far and away, the best adaptation to the play and novel. It is also, in my opinion, the best media form of the story. It also shows an authentic and positive Native American representation 20 years prior to this remake.

I also feel it should be mentioned that Disney has reworked in several ways the mythos of Peter Pan which has always been a disservice to Barrie’s original story. From Books to prequels and sequels they’ve shown that they don’t understand the story.

I would encourage and enthusiast to read the original. There is an excellent annotated version you can get your hands on. And there is a fantastic authorized sequel called “Peter Pan in Scarlet” by Geraldine McCaughrean. Which brings me to my last point…

Disney did not own the rights to Peter Pan. The Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital in the UK does. Which has not received royalties or any such payments for Disney’s continued usages of J.M. Barriers work since 2004.

So who thinks they are going to a Children’s Hospital any $ over this deal?

  33. NDNCreek

Seems to be a great deal of hate over a movie.
Seems I see the term WOKE a lot.
Guessing from the comments woke means Compassion and Manners and Values.
I think I would rather be that

  34. Another DISNEY Bomb!!! That is not Tinkerbell!!!
