The viewership ratings actually increased again…and if people want to review bomb an episode that most “accredited “ critics have said is one of the best episodes of television ever than ok? Gay people exist…sorry about it?

Everyone I know, gay, straight LOVED episode 3.
Let’s face it.. there will ALWAYS be shrieking Karens out there putting their fake little reviews on sites like that to “make their statements”.
I say let them have their tantrums. Mature people are past these miser@bIe people and are gonna make their OWN decisions. The show is amazing. Too bad for them, they can go watch some more Wheel of Fortune and JAG.

I understand your frustration with close minded people. But immediately resorting to name calling people “Karen’s” simply because they didn’t like the episode says a lot about your maturity. The episode was incredibly slow and the show wasn’t promoted as a show that would be about LGBTQ+ relationships, so it’s understandable some would be upset if this is the direction they are planning to go. Most people will most likely stick with it (such ad myself) but I certainly wouldn’t start name calling people. The entire point of this movie is survival and how selfish and evil humanity can become under the collapse of civilization. You would think it would be a wake up call for us as humans to respect each other as people.

“The show wasn’t promoted as a show that would be about [human] relationships.”

The funny thing is mike is a gun loving. Conservative who doesnt like government. If he WASNT gay, the left would be all over it. But when he is gay oh its ok now.

It was a pointless, boring episode. Whether gay or straight.

The more I hear the director commentary of “deviated from the game”, the more disillusioned I become with the show. Having played the game two months ago it was an amazing story. This show continues to deviate in ways that are destroying that legacy. Not sure if I can keep watching this dismantling and disrespect fot the original media.

I did not like the episode. I didn’t have a problem with the content, but it was more about the lack of content. I feel they should have left Bill alive and given us about 10-15 minutes of Bill with Joel and Ellie. Otherwise the episode could be skipped and you would never miss it. Think about it. You could watch the Ellie and Joel sequence at the end and the story would still all make sense and have continuity. The back story served no real purpose without Bill/Joel/Ellie interaction.

I wish all critics were like you.

I agree. This was a “Look at me” moment and not a part of the story. Should have been a 15 minute episode. All it explained was how they got a working truck. Three episodes in and they had to throw a “gay love” episode on a Zombie show? At least they could have been creative and made the zombies gay.

Do you realize that narrative plot isn’t the only component of a story? Bill and Frank’s story has a huge impact on the emotional arc of Joel, and fits in thematically with the themes of the series itself. It serves quite a big purpose in regards to the whole picture of the series. The fact that the relationship was two men have literally nothing to do with what it’s about. Change Frank to a woman, and its the same beautiful love story that needs the time it took to be told. A long drive to Wyoming isn’t that interesting to watch. I’d much rather have the world be fleshed out through human characters like these than to spend more time watching Joel and Ellie shoot zombies in an already kind of dour show. It needed that touch of love and light Bill and Frank brought.

Change Frank to a woman and my comments stand. It’s the not the who in this case its the why and how.

Why can’t it be that people didn’t genuinely like the episode? Why do you think review bombing is always the cause? You think only your taste is valid? This is such a common argument with modern tv and movies, you’re making a product to cater to an audience, if they don’t like it the creator has failed not the audience for having their own personal opinions whether you agree with them or not, period.
