Disney is not the Company it used to be and that is a shame. Disney needs to go back to its roots!

    Unfortunately Sad, but not surprising.

It is Mid level supervisors, at the parks, and resorts that are the systematic problem.

The ones who walk the parks in business casual with garbage picker claws and ear pieces. These cast members are the villians here, not top level corporate as most of the time corporate is not aware of the mid level supervisors entitlement of authority.

Sad to say Disney is not always the happiest place on Earth. During park walks, and observations some of the bad behaviour was seen too, from locals who are cast members too, which moat of the mid levels are.

These mid levels dont care if its Disney, Target or Walmart, to them it is an easy job of higher authority that they can make the hourly cast members experiences miserable. (I wouldnt be surprised is CFO McCarthy was a mid level superviaor at one time at the parks)…

Its a shame that Disney does not put into place an oversight board for parks and resorts, that when situations occur, the cast member has a right to submit to the oversight board, the board hears each side and then makes a determination, a board that is not composed of mid level supervisors..

These are the cast members that somehow are kept in place, while hourly cast have a high turn over rate.

Disney Casting and Recruiting, where you getting these mid levels from? Target, Walmart, Five&Dime?

Disney should have transferred her to another job here my problem you apply for a job you know you can’t do then complain about Disney not bending over backwards for you it’s like hiring on as a truck driver then telling you boss I can’t drive a stick so you need to buy automatic so I can work sorry it’s not happening

This cast member was a College Program participant. She submitted her accommodations before ever receiving her role, and, unfortunately, the college program is a complete lottery when it comes to which role you are given. It is assigned to you, and you have no choice.

Disabilities are one thing, but you can’t use them to dictate your entire working environment and duties that you are willing to complete. That’s not accommodation.

Agreed she should never have been hired in the first place , she put customers and staff in danger as well .

The thing is, the duties she wasn’t willing to complete seem to be the only accommodations Disney followed. Also, you don’t get to write your own accommodation requests. Disney only accepts what your doctors have written down.

Yes, companies should accommodate as requested by a medical professional, however if a person knows their limitations, they should also choose a job/career they can handle to also protect themselves. Many companies cannot meet the demands of some of these accommodations out there. They may have agreed up front but came to the realization it is not feasible. It’s on both parties involved. If she was a Disney fan, you know even working the cash register trying to sit every 30 min or running to the bathroom as needed wouldn’t be as easy as it sounds. It is usually busy and you are needed which is why you were hired. As a guest, I wouldn’t know your issues, just that you walked away when I needed you and I didn’t get the Disney experience as expected. I’m just saying there are alot of intricate pieces and people need to find what is best for them and their lifestyle. If it doesn’t work out, move on. Many people start and leave new jobs daily, including myself, to find a better fit.

I am a manager at Disney and was released from medical leave on 12/30/2022 following knee replacement. As of today I’m still not back at work because they can’t accommodate my restrictions from my doctor and I haven’t been paid since April of 2022 because my LTD was denied. So I feel her pain.
