LOL, Disney did NOTHING for their passholders, they promised pass extensions, then they offered prorated refunds, then at Disneyland they completely canceled them all together.
Compare that to Knott’s Berry Farm (and I believe all of Cedar Fair Parks, but I know Knott’s specifically) that did EVERYTHING they promised they would do, they extended all passes by more than the length of time closed and this included all add ons like parking, food, PhotoKey, lockers, fastlane access, etc. The only one it didn’t include was extending Haunt, but they took care of that as well. They did extra events for passholders, still gave us freebies while theme parks were closed, held tasting events and gave passholders decent discounts and overall built up a lot of now very loyal passholders, they even sold new passes during this. They did have reservations when they first reopened, but they said they wanted to eventually get rid of them when it was safe to do so and they did exactly as they said they would, no more reservations.
Sorry Disney, I don’t think the lawsuits are without merit here, I am not positive who will win, but I think there is a valid argument to be made.
Thanks for your comment–this adds a lot of information to this story, since the story (quoting Disney’s comments) implies that Disney offered a full refund. A full refund is fair, but a prorated refund is ridiculous. I guess they could check to see how much the pass was actually used and offer a refund based on that, but the nickel-and-diming of customers is what’s driven many of us away, and this seems to be yet another example of that.
Your Cedar Fair example of how to treat customers is perfect. We LOVE the Cedar Fair parks (we’re in the eastern U.S., so we go to Kings Island/Dominion/Carowinds, and even Cedar Point any time we can). We had received passes and tickets as a gift for our children from my parents, and CF extended them for another full YEAR due to the pandemic. On top of that they’ve really focused on keeping their parks clean and operating, and it shows. In my eyes they are leaps and bounds beyond Six Flags, and even Busch Gardens (who both seriously declined during the pandemic and after). We choose them over Disney at this point.
Disney breached its contract to Annual Passholders and continues to do so! Every AP should join this lawsuit! They took PhotoPass away, took the water parks away & decided unilaterally when APs can & cannot go to the park.
We are probably giving up our APs after 20 years, sadly.

“giving every passholder the chance to opt-out and be refunded,”
Maybe the offer for a full refund isn’t true.

if the lawsuit means an end to that blasted reservation system should they win, I’m for the 2 suing Disney 😀
