As a Native American female, I have never been fond of how they portrayed the story of Pocahontas. The factual history was swiped to the wayside and hidden, and this fictitious story replaced it. The best way to take a stand against the “telling” of the story is to not buy any products related to it…. and not watch the animated telling of it. Teach people the truth, and make sure people understand what actually happened. For as long as the movie has been out, I have never once watched it…. and for as many times as I have seen the character in the parks I have never taken a photo with the character. You can only be responsible for your own actions and responses.
But Disney does this to almost every culture, it’s not limited to specific ones.
