Not sure why anyone would be surprised at the use of more screens. Disney saw what Universal Studios was doing and decided to copy that for their rides as well.
Now all the people that were offended by it, ( But still rode it anyway) can be happy. I am sure they don’t even know what they are offended about. If you asked them how the ride is racist, they probably wouldn’t have an answer.
“Problematic” film. Good God. Mean old Uncle Remus sure was a pot stirrer! Thankfully that demon’s been squashed! For the dummies in Entitlement Land, that’s called “sarcasm.” Google it.
Why is anyone surprised by this? The animatronics were already old and decrepit long before the new theme was announced; a lot of them have barely functioned for years and that was BEFORE the new theme was announced.
They really blew it. They could have put a bayou on Tom Sawyer’s island and tied it in with the riverboat. They could have done amazing things with the riverboat.
I agree with you, Jayne1955. Especially now that they don’t like Johnny Depp anymore. They could have re-themed Hungry Bear to Tiana’s Palace and you could stroll from there to the raft to take you to the newly-themed island.
And they could have left poor Splash Mountain alone.
I hate all the screen rides like Nav’i River and now in the Ratitoulle ride. The Remy ride NEEDED animatronics! I also hate the computer faces in the FROZEN ride in EPCOT. We need real animatronics like they have in the Beauty and the Beast ride or the rides overseas! Also why not save the animatronics from Splash Mountain – they are adorable little animals.
I totally agree with you that they should keep the animals. I think it would be very fitting if they even left some of the animatronics on the renovated ride.
