I honestly think that DisneyPlus needs to add Song of the South to their platform because I know the older generation likes the movie myself included I may only be in my early 30’s but I watched the movie growing up and I love it, I completely understand that it’s not the best of movies that Disney has but there is so much that Disney has made that isn’t being shown on the platform and I know alot of it is not great for kids but they won’t understand it until the get older if they want to understand it. Personally I have watched alot of the older things that Disney made at I think it’s done well yes it’s not everyone’s cup of tea and some people don’t want their children to see it but those people can tell their kids that they have to watch something else, like that is what my parents did when I was a child so I really don’t see why it is that big of a deal about having Song of the South on the platform. But I know I’m just one person who is ok with what that movie is but I’m also sure that there are others that feel the same way as I do.
I agree with you, you can’t change the past only learn from it. This movie has some great scenes and like many movies still in the vault this generation will not see them.
I get the negative connotations of this movie, but the movie portrays Uncle Remus as a godsend in the childrens eyes and the plantation owners are complete jerks (I would use stronger language, but assume that wouldnt be unwanted). These stories are actual folklore from African-American tradition. I think it is important to remember how far those relationships have come. Disney probably took a big leap actually producing this and Dumbo back in the 40s when the US was still incredibly racist. Rather than forgetting these things we should embrace them and why they were created. You dont have to like it, but forgetting about it is not the answer.
Bring it back and all the good old movies I grew up with. I learned when I was a kid, if you don’t like it than don’t watch it. You can’t please everyone.
They need to rerelease this movie. It’s one of my favorites. Sad to say the reason why they won’t show it anymore. The people who are the ones complaining and protesting this movie are the same one that say it’s okay that now Ariel is now black. Walt himself would probably be highly pissed off at the way his company is being run now. It’s okay for them to call this a racist movie. And at the same time reverse roles to try to be politically correct and satisfy minority groups. They want black princess’s to be played by black individuals. But, when it comes to Ariel who is white, they have now cast her as a black mermaid. Disney today doesn’t seem to be consistent with their own standards or beliefs.
I would like to see it released on Disney +. I agree there are movies some don’t like or prefer and I have my dislikes as well. But I just don’t watch what I don’t like as others should do.
It’s part of my childhood and I would love my Grandchildren to watch it and see for themselves what the movie is about.
They should bring it back with the hopes parents explain to their children about the past and teach them how wrong it was in those days to test other human beings that way and to learn from those mistakes to create a better tomorrow

I think it should definitely be available. It’s a great example of classic Disney. Let people decide for themselves what to watch.

Yes Please. Uncle Remus life lessons should be brought to the new generations.
