Like duh?!!! So obvious. But it’s worse than that. A whole bunch of characters are made up and not remotely related to Sequel Trilogy.

I don’t really care a lot about Rey, Kylo Ren, BB8, or the other new characters. I don’t think the fan base has emotionally attached to them. We want Darth Vader, Yoda, R2D2, C3PO, Chewy, Leia, Luke, and Han. Except for the hardcore minority, we don’t really care about continuity. We just want to see and interact with the characters we love, even if they’re out of sync or the new experiences contradict canon.

You hit the nail on the head. And it’s not just the star cruiser that’s the problem, it’s the whole Star Wars land. Even my adult children in their 20s, who grew up watching the original trilogies with us, hate the new Star Wars movies, and are NOT thrilled with how Disney has handled Star Wars (fire Kathleen Kennedy, they say) and want the original Star Wars stuff at Disney. If Disney can’t appeal to the 20-70 year old demographic, then Disney is basically screwed.

Lol, okay buddy. They’ve owned these franchises for years and years. They were bought legally. Why hasn’t Congress done anything for the last TWENTY YEARS if they wanted to downsize Disney?

      1. Fat momma

You’re an idiot who lives at home married to your fat momma.

Are u the leader of the green army men in toy story? 🤔

Price is obviously outrageous, but for a “star wars family, maybe not”. The problem is the term FAMILY. My wife and I like the original, along with my kids. The new ones are okay, but the NEW stories, plus unknown offshoots and characters are not worth the price of admission.

The article says Star Wars fans are mostly men who like the old trilogy. Then why if you go to Target are the children’s clothes covered in Darth Vader, Yoda, etc. It’s because they are the anchor. They are the franchise. I might be convinced differently in 20 years when my kids are in their 30s and booking trips. But until then, those writing these massive checks don’t want to live a “random story with unknown chsracters” and get fleeced for it…. WHILE GETTING raked over the coals in general with a trip to WDW. $7k for Star Cruise, or $7k for a week at Beach Club Resort…. I know which I’d opt for.

  4. BTW

Totally agree. No one cares for the new Star Wars characters or stories. I found the entire Star Wars experience at WDW to be very disappointing.

$5000 or more realistically $6000-$7000 for most families would be way to high of a price point even if you got a chance to sit on Chewbacca’s lap. Disney has no understanding of economy of experience and simply doesn’t get a family for that price, can have an even better experience than playing space bingo in another county for a week’s long vacation. I hope every executive behind the planning of this experience is fired and ends up as a drone worker in the metaverse. How dare you idiots charge so much for so little?!?! And for the Bob Chapek types out there who say I’m only mad because I can’t afford it, that’s bull crap. This fan could afford it and chose to spend the summer in Europe rather than playing space bingo and eating blue shrimp.

Really? The era is the issue? I can barely scrape together enough money for a single day 1 park ticket and you think think the issue with a $2,500 a night hotel is the era it takes place in?

    1. Steve

That sounds like a you problem.

      Get a job.

      1. Arianne

Dude that’s a just about nearly everyone’s problem. Who tf has 2500/nt to piss away on what is basically a really neat larp experience when especially now ppl are mad about paying an extra dollar/gal at the pumps? Like why WOULDN’T they feel that way? That’s like being mad at someone for not having the money to buy a yacht. Like most ppl don’t have it and if they did, even if they liked boats, most of those still ppl still wouldn’t buy it cuz yeah it’s neat but it’s not worth it.

Cripes you can’t even get the ages right for Gen X it is 42-57.

I disagree our grandson 18 huge fan of originals my husband 60 something they enjoy together greatly and the originals

  8. Josh

Yup. Wrong era. Even Disney has been ignoring their new era in the shows. All the shows take place in the original era. They know what they did.

  9. Pat

I very much agree this is exactally the problem. We greatly enjoyed the whole Galazy Edge but thought the whole time it would be so cool with the original not the new. Grateful for Darth Vador, Chewy and the Troopers. Heard they were going to discontinue the Star Wars spectaclar~ Mistake, it is a lot of originals. Yes it is those 40- 60 years old but they raised 10-20 yers old on it. Our grandson knows every character our house is Star Wars. He at 16 now 18 love the originals collects all those he can find and perferrs those movies over the new ones. I agree you did find the problem.

  10. The old Star Wars is the ones that are better and I relate to them. Hate the new ones. I am not going pay that much money for 2 days for what is offered!

  11. Julia H.

I’m honestly it survived past 3 months. I heard that there are so many openings that they offer stays to the Cast Members. Who the heck wants to stay in a prison? It looks like a space prison – the food is crap. They offer effing Pepperidge Farm goldfish crackers! And what looks like Lean Cuisine french bread pizzas. Chapek is a crook charging $6k for a sci fi escape room. And Kylo Ren has to be the lamest villain of any modern franchise. Chapek refuses to use Lucas’ created lore. He sticks with Disney SW lore.

    1. Steve

      Kylo Ren, aka Severus Vader.

  12. Jennifer

Honestly, all the reviews I’ve heard from people who have gone have been nothing but glowing. So glowing that as a moderate SW, X-ennial fan, I want to go. The people I’m getting reviews from are Disney Cruisers, and for them, the price tag doesn’t seem that outrageous.

    1. Jesse

Haha yeah $30k for the royal suite … for 4 days.

Honestly though the best 2 re a cations I’ve seen are for the Chewy & Yoda parts. Seems to touch people in the feels way more.

U would think they could run 2 different experiences 1 being in the old era & 1 in the new. And just rotate every month or something.

  13. Marvin

    Objection. Speculation.

  14. Mason

    Well of course.

Couldn’t have said it better. When the sequel trilogy came out I was so excited. When we walked out of the theater my wife looked over at me and was like “you didn’t like it”. Nope, not in the least. It was a total remake of the original. I was so disappointed. This was not the Star Wars I wanted…it made the prequel trilogy look better every moment.

Then the follow-up movies came out and it continued to go downhill. I thought I liked the final movie but upon a rewatch I was disappointed…then trilogy was a recycled mess.

I have no intention of spending $5K for a part of Star Wars I never connected to. Sadly, Disney seems to be out of touch with not only the Star Wars fanbase but Disney fans overall.

  16. Jesse

Yeah the best 2 reactions I’ve seen are to the Chewy & Yoda parts of it. Ud think they could have multiple experiences with 1 set in the new era & 1 in the old.

  17. Robin Strang

More beloved characters, and different, rotating story lines would be good. But also options to stay longer than 2 days. Too many things going on and too long of days.

  18. Judy C.

Agree! The original characters are the memorable ones. The die- hard Star Wars fan were the first wave of guests at the starcruiser. Disney is out of those guests. The price tag as well as the mediocre characters just don’t appeal to the rest of us. If the price was half, my family and I would definitely consider it. If the price was under $4,000, and Darth Vader, Luke, Han, Leah, and Chebecca were there, we would definitely consider it.

  19. LucasLoyalist

Disney’s fatal mistake was listening Kathleen Kennedy when she said that all their Star Wars content for the parks going forwards would be based on the sequel trilogy.

George Lucas Star Wars PRINTS MONEY; Disney Stare Wars DOESN’T!!!!

Look, you get what you put into it. I’m a single woman, early 60s, active lifestyle, management consultant, and a major-league Star Wars fan. I went to Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland recently (in costume) and absolutely adored it, I didn’t care whether it was new characters or old characters, they got the SW vibe right. I loved the total immersion down to the shape of the Coca-Cola bottles. I loved standing in the middle of the plaza and just hearing spaceships go by “overhead”, I felt like I was in a spaceport. I loved watching Stormtroopers walk by, and even got to interact a couple times. I built my own droid. I’m back home from my vacation now, but can’t wait to go back to “live” in Batuu again for a little while. The issue for me is not money, it’s time! It’s one of the ironies of life, that when you’re young you have time and all these interests but no money; but when you’re older you have the money, but no longer the free time!

I can’t wait to go on the Starcruiser. Yes it’s expensive, but it’s comparable to that of an expensive cruise ship, where you might easily spend thousands of dollars per night, and that’s not including the transportation and shore excursions, which will quickly add even more thousands of dollars to that price tag. There are tons of expensive hobbies in the world: vacationing in exotic locations, owning your own boat (where the joke is that BOAT stands for Bring Out Another Thousand), owning a vacation home, collecting vintage cars, and so forth. The Starcruiser is not for everyone, but for those who understand its limitations, it’s damn good. Everyone I’ve heard from that took the trip has loved it, and says they want to go back. I’d go now if I could break enough time free, and find a friend to go with me. I have plenty of friends who love Star Wars, but they’re in the same situation I am — they have the money to go, but it’s difficult to find the time!
