I think that controversies are being blown way out of proportion. Options matter yes, but do they really need to be that big of a deal? There is no right way or wrong way in opinions. That’s why it’s an opinion. There would be less drama if we’d all just leave the option we don’t like behind a locked door. Less drama if you asked me.

    1. Albus

I am sorry but this article is rubbish. Your views are based on your own feelings or attempts to mislead. Shame on you !

      1. Costantinos

I think the fans support Rowling. It’s the pandering media that’s stirring up a ‘controversy’. Leave woke politics out of Hogwarts.

        1. Steve

Pandering isn’t the word I would use for the media. The media is the source of this social cancer, not serving it.

The media is pure evil, end of story.

        2. Count Floyd

The answer to this and all your questions is money. If there was money to be made, then these supposed “controversies” wouldn’t matter.

        3. Gc

I wish people would stop saying Johnny Depp is surrounded in controversy. He was found not guilty so can you stop continuing to drag his name through the mud. If WB are losing money then they deserve it as they didn’t remove Amber Herd from Aquaman 2 when allegations about her surfaced.

        4. Peter George

          Agree 100%

      2. Paisley

I agree with Albus – total rubbish! There’s a lot still to be discovered in the Wizard World and maybe leaving WB and working with another company might be exactly what is needed.

    2. Ray

The woke and unhappy people have ruined another fine work because JK won’t agree with them. So sad for us. JK does not need the money and does not have to go along with them.

      1. Debbie

All this is bull crap if u ask me. There are more people that don’t give a tinkers dam about all that controversy. We are tired of the people that think they r holier than thou get to run things, and their doing bad things themselves.

      2. Puma59

Spot on. The worst part is that Rowling’s statements have consistently, and viciously, misrepresented.

      3. UndeadGohan

That’s the sad part the woke culture doesn’t understand either. Is that their “canceling” of J.K. isn’t going to take away the money she’s already earned or the royalties she gets from licensing on its own. Not only that but they’re not exactly going to change her opinion which is just that..an opinion. I dont agree with her views by any means but i do love her work and am willing to separate the author from her works. All they’re really doing is trying to bully someone into thinking like them which makes them no better than anyone else. In fact it reminds me of toxic girls in school that wouldn’t hang out with you if you didn’t go along with what they liked or wanted.

  2. J

    JK has FU$

  3. Vinny

Harry Potter franchise dead? Are you freaking kidding? Tell that to the billion of fans out there who are still in love with it.

Fantastic Beast failed doesn’t mean the Harry Potter legacy doesn’t live on.

    1. JoeBryant

That sounds about right, sacrifice billions to satisfy millions.

  4. Eddy

Imagine being in a group so marginalized you control a billion dollar industry.

    1. Steve

      Crybullies.

    2. Mum

This exact thought scares me every day.

  5. Steve

Didn’t you just run a story about how WB is desperately working to get another HP?

They are failing for trying to silo JKR, if anything. Keeping Ezra while firing Depp was a bad look on top of the lackluster writing.

    1. Michael Gershowitz

Yup, and Unless your a bad reporter you would know that Johnny Depp WON his. Court case against Against Amber Hurd. So there is no controversy but what media is refusing to except as fact he was abused by his x wife and yet he was let go over a female who lied. And there was nothing wrong witb jkrowlings standing up for women.

      1. Unknown

I mean seriously Harry Potter franchise dead. Haven’t you ever heard the quote “you must not tell lies”

  6. Jane

The Fantastic Beasts franchise was already dying. I feel the sequel was not great and they should have stopped there. Harry Potter can go on and on, though.

  7. Newt

    ^sorcerer not sorceror
    ^Newt not New

    …c’mon man.

  8. CJ

All I want is for studios and publishers to stop milking their franchises that have long been squeezed dry. Audiences are starving for something new; the whole entertainment industry is being stupidly risk averse.

  9. TJW

I have enjoyed the Fantastic Beasts movies! Why not just release them online! Finish what you started . They are very enjoyable!

  10. Donte

As a “progressive” I really don’t understand how they keep blowing these things up like this. The average person does not care about this. What she said wasn’t even bad. Maybe slightly insensitive? Sure. But she’s entitled to an opinion like every one else. I would not describe her as prejudice. The Harry Potter fans who act like they can’t separate fantasy from reality are lame

    1. Mum

      Spot on

    2. Steve

Something tells me you probably aren’t a progressive anymore by modern standards. It seems a requirement is being so insane you can’t see reality.

    3. Lucia

She has supported fascists because they both spew hate speech towards specific groups of trans people. How is that no big deal because you don’t know trans people affected

      1. Steve

Do you realize how disturbed you sound?

Trans need mental help. Not surgery, not encouragement, and definitely not political power.

        1. Bob

          You are the problem.

          1. Steve

            You are the problem.

    4. Mattie

You’re not a progressive, please stop using that description.

  11. T

Why is it that people can not have their own opinions? When it doesn’t coincide with the minority, the minority cries. I don’t agree with JK Rowling’s statements however, I’m not going to boycott her talent as a writer who has brought a lot of joy with her books and movies. I will alway support her talent. This has gone on enough. Make the movies and move on.

    1. Chris Kinney

This is the world we live in now. If someone says something you don’t agree with, immediately “cancel” them, and stop liking anything and everything involving them. And if they have and opinion that you don’t share, they are the enemy, and must be ostracized from society.

  12. Bladeshell

Not all that interested in the article but Thomas’ bio is fabulous !

  13. Rob

More than 50% of the country agrees with her!!!

  14. Kris

I truly hope it’s true that the bigotry world is dead.

    1. Steve

No one cares what you think.

  15. I love Harry Potter

I read what JK Rowling said. Didn’t quite understand it, but I all out don’t care. She can say what she wants; others don’t have to understand or agree with it. We are not communists here. If she turns out to be a serial killer, that won’t hurt my love for Harry Potter. People do know that Rowling and Harry Potter are not the same person, right? That if you love Harry, that doesn’t mean you also love Rowling or even know that she exists? She could be dead like Shakespeare, but doesn’t mean people don’t love Harry or Hamlet. And also, if one loves Harry it doesn’t mean you have to love all these spin-offs like Fantastic Beasts. I’ve never read or watched them and don’t care.
The problem with some people nowadays is that they swing from hero worship to hell fire in one day. They love a story, so they worship the author like a god. Turns around, they find something wrong with the author, then they smash their idol and stomp on it forevermore. There’s no loyalty at all. They read Harry Potter, but they never learned anything from it. Like Hermione says, one of the most important virtues is loyalty. And Rowling has failed because she never instilled any into her readers.
No matter how bad Rowling becomes, it doesn’t change the fact that the Harry Potter books are excellent in every way and will stay that way – the ink is dried up on the page and there’s nothing and nobody that can change or tarnish Harry Potter.
I’m impressed that Rowling stuck with her beliefs despite all the disloyal fans and actors spitting in her face like that. I don’t quite understand why she has such a belief, but people have beliefs, some very odd, and that’s the way the world goes. You can try to stop them from expressing it by “cancelling” them, but you can’t stop them from thinking it. Most people are shrewd enough to keep unpopular opinions to themselves, or to “apologize” should it leak out of them by accident, just to not cause trouble. It’s just not worth it being unpopular. Rowling, however, stuck with it just like Harry Potter, who declared that Voldemort was coming back despite overwhelming opposition. It’s a heroic thing to do, but it’s not shrewd. There’s no such thing as freedom of speech. She needs to play the crowd and tickle their ears, say what they want to hear, rake in the money and laugh all the way to the bank. I know she already has lots of money, but it never hurts to have more. Telling the unpopular truth or what she perceives to be the truth will just get her persecuted like Harry Potter, and it’s so not worth it. Besides, popular opinion swings from one side to the next, just like Harry Potter went from being crazy to being the chosen one and then public enemy number one. The public is not capable of reason or understanding. They just sway with the next popular tide of public opinion. They are not worth teaching or instruction, especially if one has to suffer to do so. They need to be pacified, coddled, and sold products to. What Rowling needs to do is to write more Hogwarts books. I’ll buy it.

    1. Jeff

The thing is, the HP fan base IS loyal! The detractors never were fans in the first place, they just claimed to be so they could get their outrage fix. I believe in free speech, and would never take away their ability to speak, but that is all they want to do to others. We just need to learn to stop listening to them and maybe they will go away.

      1. Steve

Leftists were never fans of anything they destroy.

They enter unwelcomed, complain about “gatekeeping” when the real fans tell them to go away, then use their control over the media to distort the thing until the real fans leave.

Gaming was the template. This being done everywhere now.

  16. Emily

Why are you dragging Johnny an abuse victim into this that’s disgusting

  17. HPFan

Harry Potter and the wizarding world will be amazing and will always have fans no matter the crybabies crying over every little thing. Snowflakes.

  18. Stuart

Her views don’t seem to be concerning her fans. Whenever I’m in King’s Cross station in London there is usually a queue of people waiting to have a photo taken of them at the Platform 93/4 sign.

  19. Darce

I think this is an old article rehashed…The trial ended for Johnny Depp awhile ago..

  20. Jayne1955

I liked Fantastic Beasts. I adore Eddie Redmayne. But I think they did Johnny Depp dirty.

    1. Teresa M

Johnny Depp was much better as Grindelwald than Mads Mikkelson. MM was his typical wooden villain, like Dr. Strange and Casino Royale.

  21. Rajdeep Das

I like fantastic beast series after the end of Harry Potter series. Because i want to know how Grindelwald was go to the Axkaban… So please The fantastic beast series continue for all Harry Potter fans…

  22. Kurt

I’ve not seen one HP or FB movies. They DO look very well produced and well casted and all. Just not my thing. And it’s okay. Everyone enjoy what you like. And so will I. Gotta go, lunch time…

  23. Abe

Me and my family absolutely love HP and support JK Rowling. Call us what you will, her perspective makes sense to us.

    1. Bob

      My family and I *
Never too late to get your ged. Take any intro biology course and it might help you too

      1. Steve

Taking a biology course would do the opposite of make your trans ideology make sense.

  24. 3dog

Did you make this up yourself? Or did your boss pick it out for you?

  25. Fritz

WB is clearly still developing the video game set in Hogwarts, and news just came out last week that another Potter series is being discussed.

  26. Steve-O

You know why there will probably be more Harry Potter stuff no matter what anyone at WB or this website says? Money.

  27. DefendingOurDignity

It’s 2022 and we are worried about what China thinks about a love story between two people who don’t even hold hands let alone ACTUALLY EXISTS! This is the hill you choose to kill a franchise on?? That and the opinions of a billionaire over something THAT WILL NEVER EVEN AFFECT HER IN ANY WAY?? I hate to say this, but J. Row JUST SHUT UP AND WRITE!!

    1. Steve

If you think the delusional trans movement taking over every western government and institution won’t affect everyone, you probably aren’t paying attention.

      1. Bob

You have a lot of hate in your heart.

        1. Steve

Oh no! How true! My heart bleeds!

          What s joke
You lefties hate anyone who isn’t entirely in agreement with you and keeps up to date with that agreement. JKR is far left, but you hate her because she disagrees on one point.

I make it easy. I hate leftists. You’re the scum of the earth and I hope you are destroyed before you destroy us.

  28. Lucky

IF this is true it’s disappointing and very shortsighted of Warner Bros. There are multiple storylines that can go on and on. Prequel of Luna before Hogwarts. The Weasley patents before kids. Adventures of the Mauraders, etc… If Warner Bros doesn’t do it, let Netflix.

    1. Steve

Comcast/Universal would kill to get the license.

  29. Addie

You can’t hold people’s opinions against them. They are just opinions. THEY NEED TO GET OVER THEMSELVES AND KEEP THEIR CONTRACT WITH JK ROWLINGS FOR THE HARRY POTTER AND FANTASTIC BEAST SERIES!!!!!

    1. JK Lives On

      Well said

  30. John

Personally I liked the movies and was excited for the rest. People have the right of freedom of speech, just because people don’t agree doesn’t mean she’s bad, should of kept Depp until end, innocent until proven guilty. Their trying to be politically correct ruined it. Stop blaming others

    1. JK Lives On

The fact is she hasn’t said anything hateful, as I said in my post she has never wished trans to die or disappear… she infact supported them but also felt that womans voices was being drowned out…. Sadly she is victim to the current day of the angry mob.

  31. JK Lives On

What has JK said that is so mean or destructive?
Has she wish trans to die?… no… has she wished them to disappear?… Again no. She voiced her support for females as she feels they are being drowned out by the trans movement AT TIMES. She has NEVER attacked them with hate or wish any harm to them… she has supported them but has also stood up for woman rights.
The few so called HP fans who are trying to make her voiceless are only ruining it for themselves and the true HP fans who love her and her world.
Pathetic idiot mob who attacked others who don’t 100 percent agree with them.🤦‍♂️

  32. Mr WhiteX

He should stop listening to the Qu3er o S3xuals and put out whatever JK Rowling would like. Infact it should be about defeating the que3r o s3xual agenda to have us all convert our gender.

    1. Bob

You sound like a early 2000s hillbilly. Go get an education.

      1. Steve

        You mean go get brainwashed.

  33. Alec

So who’s gonna tell this person about the upcoming Hogwarts Legacy? If anything, the HP universe is about to get a revival.

  34. Josh

Fake article WB just announced they will made more Harry Potter content with JK rowling another pathetic attempt to cancel the franchise

  35. MT

The 2nd movie was legitimately one of the most poorly written big budget movies I’ve watched in my lifetime. It had the least cohesive storyline and worst editing I’ve ever seen. No scene followed another in a way that wasn’t jarring and as a result none of the developments in each scene landed. It fills in the gap between films poorly and rushes through big changes (Creedence being alive and Queenie using a love potion on Jacob, two huge developments glossed over). The tone and mood was flat and there were far too many useless characters that didn’t add to the experience. The world building and character development were a downgrade from the first movie. The first wasn’t perfect but it at least had four likable leads and fun fantasy elements and good visuals.

I didn’t see the 3rd movie and I’ve heard it’s an upgrade from 2 but if the franchise had THAT big of a failure you cannot bounce back from that, I’m sorry. No franchise can stumble out the gate like that and recover audience interest.

  36. Universal Fan

The actors personal lives and Rowlings views didn’t kill the franchise. it was poor storytelling. and like most franchises they tend to peter out over time. look at yhe numerous star wars spinoffs that gain very little for Disney. Same thing is starting to happen to Marvel and the DC movie franchise never reached the Marvel level of popularity.

  37. M

I think that’s truly ignorant to allow a small percentage of people who don’t even have kids rule what you do. Rowling has the right to her beliefs & opinions even if they’re not liked by some. She’s a fantastic author & created a wonderful world .
I like Batman but the rest of it especially Aquaman can go away. Depp has been redeemed but yeah keep pushing your agenda Disney.

  38. Anthony Butler

Conflabbed crybabies! Go pick on something that matters like the liberals and their beliefs of the world! It’s time for the Red Wave takes a stand for what they believe in and saying Enough is Enough! JD WON, SOBs! Recast EM and let JD regain the opportunity to have his version of his character’s wand back!

  39. Kat

So glad this childish series is going away. With all of the series with fully developed and engaging worlds out there, it’s about time to shift focus. The fact that the original author is ethically questionable is just the frosting on the cake.

    1. Steve

There is nothing ethically questionable, crybully.

    2. Steve

It is unethical and immoral to assist someone with their mental deficiencies. A man is a woman as much as a dog is a cat. Just because someone may say it does not make it reality.all you trans “women” still need to get your prostate checked at 50.

  40. Richard

The failure of the fantastic beast series has nothing to do with the controversies surrounding johnny depp. It was just poorly conceived and poorly written.

  41. SRINFLA

What does this mean for Universal Studios as they made a very large investment in that franchise in their theme parks? Hard to believe they will just let that die.

  42. Hello, my name is Patti. I am 61 years old and J. K. Rowling help me read. And here is my story. When my son was 12 he’s now 38 asked me to purchase the Harry Potter book I thought that’s a funny name and why would you want that book? He explained that all of the kids love it and it was a big thing at his school so of course I bought him the book. My son asked me to read it to my horror because I wasn’t able to read you see when I was growing up I was tortured beat, starved and gelled to my room for years. We moved a lot, so I never got the phonics I was able to graduate high school and a little college and even completed a trade school. I don’t know how but I did it. I think it was because I was a good listener, so when my son asked me to read it, I told him we have to use a dictionary so I could look up the words to help him learn those new words because I was too embarrassed to tell him I don’t know how to read. So we read all seven books, one at a time sometimes we would take turns sometimes we would try to use the voices of the characters as we read. We both enjoyed that time so deeply, but by the second book, I was an avid reader, and I no longer needed the dictionary. When the harry potter books and movies were completed, I was a little bit sad whenever I would read or watch the movies I would go into a different world. It was like therapy for me. There was good and bad some of the child actors in the movie portrayed kids that were bullied Starved and not treated well or fairly and I could really identify with that. It really helped me in so many many ways I know that I’m not the only one and so when fantastic beast came along, I was elated. I am so thankful for the gift of reading and the therapy I got from every single movie that this is enough for me, but of course, if JK ever wanted to write anything again I would be very happy , but I also want her to be happy. She did a lot for a lot of us and she put a lot of years into it and I appreciate every single thing and that is my story. Thank you for reading. Love, Patti.
