The Oogie Boogie Bash After Dark event merchandise was very underwhelming. There wasn’t a shirt for the event only a hoodie. The merch only had TNBC character with no mention of the event. The merchandise had this strange 3D artwork. I hope next year the merch is better.
I went to the Not So Scary Halloween Party at the end of September and was underwhelmed. We used to go every year before the pandemic and this year felt cheated. Only one stand had the Mickey mummy popcorn bucket and no turkey legs at all. Seemed like there were less trick-or-treat stands too
No they are probably the ones who cleaned out the merch earlier in the season to put on eBay for 2x retail! Families and fans can’t get to it because CMs aren’t limiting how many people can buy.
Much as I’d like to blame this one on Disney, the fault most likely lies with online resellers. I’ve had the same experience on any Disney Cruise Ship, on Castaway Cay, and at the Polynesian where they generally have nice tiki shirts, among others. Shelves are picked clean of L and XL shirts. I’m not sure if Disney just needs to produce more of these popular sizes or if, being popular sizes, they represent a better reseller value than other sizes.
Yes! We did Oogie Boogie Bash last week at CA and we were extremely disappointed there was no event exclusive merchandise. We found some merch on a cart in the middle of the day that anyone could buy. I really wanted the Oogie Boogie Stainless Steel Tumbler, but according to a CM they had been sold out completely for weeks. Very disappointing for sure!
It was just last week we saw the article of people walking off with wagons full of merchandise for reselling… so there ya go. I will never buy anything from a reseller. And if it’s not a Disney designated retailer they should be fined. If you are selling in bulk, that’s an issue.
The party last Friday was great. However were quite disappointed we could not get an event Tshirt. We have them from every year we’ve gone . Not this year
I found it’s not just the Halloween holiday, it’s ALL events that Disney has. We were just there for this years Epcots Food and Wine festival..wanted a shirt with the festival and date on it. All I saw were these hideous Orange Bird things. I am acquiring Nutcracker Mickeys for the grandchildren, and you would think at the Magic Kingdom or Disney Springs they would have them year round, nope, I managed to get one for each of the children, but wanted one for their parents, can’t get one, not even online. Just a simple Mickey/Minnie shirt in larger sizes, not those “non” Mickey things. Oh and the prices UGH.
We were for Mickeys Not So Scary at Disneyworld last week. There wasn’t a lot of merch for adults. We had to walk away without a tee shirt commemorating the event for the 50th anniversary! A shame.
I think this has always been a problem, and not just because of resellers. They just won’t limit supplies most of the time–maybe they have their reasons. It’s very disappointing as the park exclusive merch isn’t online except by resellers. There was some stuff on Disney Store online–but not exclusive merch. All I can say is try going in the beginning-but I wonder if even then you get caught between shipments. That’s what we were told on Oct 3rd this year.
We went to MNSSHP in August. All sizes were available but disappointed not to have things like exclusive pins and such as in years previous. Also, having no Zero popcorn bucket until later parties seemed just wrong!
We went on Tuesday nite and all zero popcorn buckets were sold out. How can you bring a product in and at peak time sell out. Same as park exclusive merchandise sold out before Halloween.
We went to MNSSHP and they didn’t have zero popcorn bucket yet I was told, not till October, seem unfair when they advertise what they will have but don’t have it, like the poster, seem I have noticed that alot of stuff ends up on eBay before the events so I’m sure a lot of CM must be selling these items because how can MNSSHP merch be on eBay before they even start the event?
I’m sorry so many had such a bad experience. I live in Florida and I’m an annual passholder. I visited the park on theh2nd week of October hoping to purchase a Donald Duck sipper cup and a Zero popcorn bucket. After asking all around Magic Kingdom I was told that they were sold out but I kept insisting on finding the items and I finally got a real answer from a cast member. It’s not that they wer sold out they were only being sold during Mickeys not so scary party. I think that is really unfair because I’m an annual pass holder but do not go to the Halloween party because I no longer have small children. I know some are thinking adults enjoy too but I think it’s a bit expensive when it is really reared for children.
I’m at disneyworld right now and the merchandise in general is underwhelming… 50th anniversary… You would think they would be jamming merch down your throat… Selections rely do blow right now for everything
We just came back from wdw and went to the Halloween party only to find on our way out they had little if any real event merch available…..I think this is poor planning on wdws part as they know how many party’s they will have and running out of merch before all the party’s are over is unacceptable!!!!
Same experience here. At times we got lucky and found some items but didn’t want to carry it for 12+ hours. Our mistake, we were told that resellers usually clean them out in the morning or at the start of the event. We saw plenty of people with wagons and carts living things away. So frustrating.
Not sure why Disney can’t put aside some merchandise for Annual Passholders or DVC members at a special store either online or at a DVC resort like Old Key West. Surely they could also hold back certain special event merchandise throughout the season. Don’t they take it out also for the nights they have the parties? It wouldn’t be any real extra effort and leftovers can either be saved for the next year or sold off to licensed resellers for those needing items for their collections. What reseller wants to pay full retail? They’d surely pay to become a licensed reseller to access merch at better prices and that gives Disney another income stream.
Yeah. Exclusive or not, we routinely have to go on Shop Disney or Ebay whle in the parks to find the right size shirt that we just found in a shop! They really need to stock more, and if a particular size consistently sells out, stock more of that size (large and extra large, please!)
I went to the 50th in October of 2021 and couldn’t find a simple magnet or an ornament, and that was at the BEGINNING of the celebration. The resellers wiped them clean. I bought a magnet online for many times the price, but I wasn’t doing that with an ornament. Very disappointing!
So people who paid extra to attend a Disney event are upset because they couldn’t spend even more money on merchandise to prove their attendance, and those that didn’t attend are willing to pay double the merch price to pretend they were?
This happened to me at both the Halloween and Christmas parties prior to COVID. (The special Christmas ornaments were already sold out three weeks into the event.) If the merchandise is important to you, you should go to one of the earlier events.
I get a year pin every time I go as a souvenir. I went to disneyland in September and there were no year pins anywhere. I asked multiple cast members and was told if I wanted a year pin it’s too late and I should’ve come earlier in the year… ??? It’s still 2022 for FOUR MONTHS! Now I need to plan my vacation around souvenirs??
Yes I had same exact experience. Went to the party on oct 20th. Only kid size shirts available. Cast member wouldn’t even offer any alternatives or a pass holder shirt. Nothing. Emailed Disney after the trip. They stated they would pass it on to their leaders. They really didn’t care that we paid money to have access to the exclusive merchandise and was unable to purchase. Really, Really sad……..

I agree. We went to the after hours Christmas Party last year and they had nothing. I was also very upset

All the Halloween Merch was at World of Disney in September. I was disappointed that the only refillable mugs were the 50th and none for Halloween…
Wendy
I went to villains night at Disneyland and all they had were socks and a magnet. We were not happy.

Probably the biggest group of people that was upset were the resellers.
