Dude, WDW literally just told everyone last week cast members were training for the reopening. No question they’re aiming for October 1st

    1. Greg

We were standing on the platform seconds after the train departed in its last tour back in December of ’18. The cast member was a champ though. My son was crushed to miss the train ride, but she told him about a much cooler train… at Big Thunder Mountain. XD

Don’t expect anything from WDW any time soon if DeathSantis gets re-elected. Why waste money in an area where the government is trying to take control of your business

        1. I'mright

Government taking over your business literally happened in every state with the vaxx mandates. What are you talking about

        2. Collins

Take control? Have you seen the administration in the white house?! They’re the ones trying to take control. If you don’t like having a real person fighting for our rights, constitution and country (DeSantis) then go to a blue state please….people like you are the reason our country is falling apart. Go to California you’ll be happier. Thanks

          DeSantis 2024🎉

Anyone else remember the time before literally every single article ITM ever published was complete garbage?

      1. Bobby

At least this one is actually Disney related.

  2. Byron

The problem is that Disney is not planning anything new for D23. The have to postpone the opening of the railroad, tron, splash mountain, rodeo roundup bbq, so they can have something to talk about at D23. While Chapek laughs at his customers Universal spends millions for a new park.

    1. Zara

      Well said 👏👏

Disney are hemorrhaging the Magic fast. When we visited in March we had a great vacation in spite of Disney not because of Disney. Prices were insane, crowds crazy and the Magic very much missing. Chapek is nightmare for Disney. Walt would be turning in his grave and the great Bob Eiger must be wondering what he’s unleashed on us all.

      1. Tina

This is so true. No characters in the park, food is cold and pricey, rides are breaking down. I was more than disappointed with our July trip.

    3. Peter

Disney are hemorrhaging the Magic fast. When we visited in March we were not impresses. Prices were insane, crowds crazy and the Magic very much missing. Chapek is nightmare for Disney. Walt would be turning in his grave and the great Bob Eiger must be wondering what he’s unleashed on us all.

I agree 100% on this Chapek has caused alot of problems for Disney!!

Very sad it is all very sad for me the way certain attractions are disappearing like the house of Mickey and Minnie and it’s surroundings. Now the train 🚂 a beautiful ride that Walt himself loved. Some things should always stay as the founder desired. I understand there are new interests but we are loosing the magic in these parks.

    1. Katie

It’s reopening soon. They had to stop it because building Tron was a huge project. Tron is right next to Space Mountain and in the path of the railroad. The railroad isn’t going away, it’s just been on hold. Probably changing the path too because on Tron.

      1. Dang. We’re going to WDW in September and were hoping to get to ride the train. Oh well.

        1. Be Nice

So were we, my husband hasn’t had chance to ride it yet as he didn’t make his first trip till after it closed, and we have been back twice since. GRRHHHH a bit frustrated. We know they had to redo things because of Tron but…

      2. John

I have heard the same exact thing. Temporary. No worries. Train🚂 will be returning soon.

    2. Lisa

Wow I hope they bring it back!! I plan to return to Disney in about 2-3 years- hopefully it will be back by then.

Congrats, you got your comment stolen for the article: “Disney Ride to Remain Closed For Unforeseeable Future, Fans Speak Out”

    3. Chris

Absolutely. The driving gal just above Chapek the even bigger issue. This destroying of the Magic goes all the way to top.

They should have never built Tron rollercoaster. And the Walt Disney World Railroad would still be running a big huge mistake on part of Walt Disney World

    1. Katie

Have to add rides to keep lines manageneable. More rides, shorter lines. They had to stop the railroad because it’s in traffic path of Tron. The railroad is due to start again by the big party in October.

      1. Kevin

I understand that new attractions have to be built but the railroad was the first attraction in Walt’s backyard and therefore it is a staple, a fixture that everyone expects to see at the main Disney park. This was just poor planning and lack of funds, I’m guessing. It’s been closed for almost 4 years …how many millions of kids (of all ages) have visited the MK for the first time in the past 4 yrs and never experienced the magic of the train or even hear it roaring through the parks..Walt wouldn’t have allowed this to happen..

        1. DS

Exactly!! My Granddaughter did not get to ride it in November! They could not place Tron anywhere else but, in the route of the beloved train! It is like smacking Walt in the face! At least Disney could have moved a little faster and not have it closed for 4 years! Thought it would have been opened for the 50th Anniversary Celebration! Another disappointment from Disney!

        2. Jr

Gotta have faith. It all will work out.

      2. Judy

Disney was always my magical place, but with all their changing its not so magical anymore.

        1. DS

Sad to say me too! This is coming from a person whom stood at Disneyland (California) in 2015 and looked up at the firehouse light in the window and cried Thanking Walt for building my Happy place!

    2. John

I have heard the same exact thing. Temporary. No worries. Train🚂 will be returning soon. Didn’t need Tron coaster. Unnecessary.

  5. They need to stop taking things out of Walt Disney World and land. They are riding it

  6. I was so disappointed when we went to Disney World and it wasn’t running. My understanding is that after Tron is finished they will train cast members and reopen it. I hope so, because that is a ride that everyone enjoys!

I don’t like the tron excuse especially for 4 years. They could still run the railroad between the other two stations if they wanted to, just back and forth.

    1. Liz

They are vintage steam trains that go in one direction in a circle around the park. How do you expect that to work? Just use one and throw it reverse? They’d have to build whole new trains to MAYBE swing that. Not to mention redesign those two stations for queueing. 🤔

  8. Dietrich

with no reopening date in site.

    Should be;
with not reopening date in sight

  9. Liz

Disney literally just posted new conductors being hired and trained. Pretty sure now all the new construction is nearing completion on the one side of the park, it’ll be around October time frame.

  10. Mike

I’m sure the railroad ride is nice, but the ultimate disappointment in WDW has to be seeing “Splash Mountain” ending. It was the main reason of going to the Magic Kingdom in the first place.

  11. Paul

I loved it from my first visit in about 1972. It’s the first thing you encountered at the Magic Kingdom. We lived in Orlando and loved to just drop by for an evening. Love that train whistle. Bring back the train!

    1. Rob Chapek

Congrats, you got your comment stolen for the article: “Disney Ride to Remain Closed For Unforeseeable Future, Fans Speak Out”

  12. Kim

i hope is repens soon. We love taking the train and my grandson just loved trains.

  13. Mariann

YES, we want it open. We were there in Feb/Mar of 2020 when it was closed.
Now we are going again Aug 2022 and was hoping that the train would be open.
    So disappointing!!

  14. This is so sad. It’s been way to long. Just another way WDW is going down the toilet. Maybe they don’t want us to see Tron till it’s open, but we see it from the People Mover. A lot of times we started our day with a train ride upon entering WDW.

  15. MK

How is this news? Nothing new to report, they just haven’t given a reopening date. You make it sound like its closing forever by not leading with
“Although we have written recently that it looks as though Disney may be gearing up to bring the Walt Disney World Railroad back as Cast Members officially began training, the Walt Disney World website still lists the attraction as closed throughout the entire months of August and September, with no reopening date in site.”

    Lame.

  16. Shirley

I’d rather have the railroad than tron!!!!!!!!

  17. ENRIQUE SOWARD

ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS THAT IT’S BEEN CLOSED FOR 4 YEARS ALREADY! COME ON DISNEY!

  18. Bridget Clement

I Loved riding the train as a Kid. Also a great way to get around Park. Hopefully it will b back for my December trip!!!

We r waiting for DINING PLAN to return.

I think my son would Love the Train

  19. SadDisneyFan

Disney has gone so far downhill with Chapek in charge! Everyone I know who has been a Disney fan forever has switched to Universal and will stay away until he is gone. Chapek has ruined the magic of Disney! You can’t charge almost double of all other theme parks and then take away any and all perks that you had for free (fast pass etc) to charge for that too then expect people not to be pissed. Chapek must go. He’s a cancer to the Disney name. Disneyland was supposed to be for everyone. Not the elite who were willing to drop 10k for their families to go. Get out Bob.

  20. Terri

I agree! My granddaughter and I just visited Epcot…. Long lines, nothing open until 11 although park opened at 8:30
    So very frustrating
At 11:30 we were so hot we left
    Sad

  21. Pat

All it’s about for Chapek is real estate. Not theme parks, not customers who love(used to love) Disney.
He’s (Chapek) laughing at all of us all the way to the bank to spend his bonus. So sad,
    What Disney Magic !!!!’

  22. Roe

David Diano said it correctly. The Railroad should have stayed in place. With all the land that Disney owns, Tron could have been built elsewhere and probably completed by now.
