    And I’m sure that Disney’s legal team has already figured out a plan to keep EVERY version of him until the sun goes out! They’re just keeping it under wraps until the time is right.

      Disney is copyrighting Mickey because making an original character is almost impossible nowadays. I guess they won’t be making cartoons with (insert name here) the (insert animal species here), or (insert name here) the (insert kitchen appliance name here).

      At least, we’ll probably get a horror short parody of Steamboat Willie. Call it Slasherboat Wendell.

    Yep, so THAT’S why we’ve been seeing them double down on Ugly Contemptuously-Kitschy 30’s-Parody Mickey from the cable cartoons and Runaway Railway…

    (Do you think a generation of animators would have had so much less contempt for Mickey if Disney had just SHOWN us his cartoons, growing up in the early 80’s when Disney was afraid of VHS?)
