I saw Lightyear, and I thought it was a wonderful story, perfect for my 9 year old grandson to celebrate his birthday with Family Movie night. We had been planning this outing since the release date was announced months ago. But that doesn’t mean there were not issues. 1 – the same sex kiss. I am not against same sex relationships in today’s culture – but I feel there is a lot of pressure to normalize all types of relationships, and I am not sure the entertainment of elementary aged children is the right place. It didn’t enhance the story or make it more interesting, it was obviously just stuck in. I had to decide if the issue was enough to keep us away from the movie. We love Science Fiction/Space Exploration movies, and Buzz, so we decided to go. However we haven’t seen Minions. It’s expensive to go to movies – along with everything else, so Lightyear was our first choice. Minions will probably be on most of the summer and maybe a matinee choice on a rainy afternoon. 2 – Tim Allen. There is a lot of conversation over character loyality – an issue Disney should consider, because it seemed to start with the decision to dump Johnny Depp from Pirates. Could Tim Allen’s voice have brought Lightyear to life as effectively? Not sure. We’ll never really know. But it was also something I considered. In the end, we went to Lightyear, and are very glad we did. It was a lovely movie.
Yeah… the whole Disneys “let’s normalize queer” and forcibly putting in all movies especially in childrens movies is upsetting everyone! I don’t want my children marketed to subliminally. Some say that don’t get the outrage. I say they can’t be blinded by the messaging. Sadly this won’t be the last Disney offering that will be downcasted because of their NEED to normalize queerness.
If you think that is giving subliminal messages, then you’re part of the problem. You do realize that this is actually normal? Many people are in fact gay, and it is scientific fact this isn’t how it happens🙄
What about all the movies with a husband and wife, isn’t that forcing sexuality on kids? How about you come out and say what you truly mean, “get this homo crap away from me”
The director only has himself to blame. Getting mad at your customers because of terrible service on your end is just ridiculous. That’s as silly as a restaurant owner getting angry at his customers for not enjoying the three-star food his business serves. The quality of the product rests squarely on the director in this case, not the consumers.
Khadijah,
Just because there’s a funny (right or wrong) cartoon of bee & human marriage doesn’t justify the very serious and real LGBTQ agenda in the media. The important thing to recognize here is that exposing children to homosexuality is not an innocent act. It is extremely harmful to the children, which is basically a form of child abuse, while they’re still developing their sexual preferences. Such harmful propaganda must be stopped by all means necessary.
You are sick…. and need to go take a few biology courses. That is not how that works. Or are you just afraid because you are still in the closet and can’t express how you truly feel because of the hate people would spew at you? Most people that get so mad about LGTBQA+ are just mad because they are afraid of their feelings.
Are you an idiot? What’s the difference between exposing children to a male + female relationship compared to a LGBT+ relationship? Both are exposing a viewpoint to the children. What you really mean is that you’re not 100% comfortable with LGBT+ . I hope that you have children and that they are LGBT+ so that it forces you to face your biases and bigotry.
Kiel,
Why don’t you expose your children to other unnatural/abnormal sex with animals, corpses, children, etc. too? Please use your common sense to distinguish (easily) between normal and abnormal by simply looking at our anatomy.
Seriously dude, no dfference between biologically evolved thousands of years behavior designed for survival of the species and some aberrant behavior that serves no biological purpose? It is easy and proper to tolerate aberrant behavior, but it should not be encouraged. Outside of politics and entertainment (not that different actually), incidence of LGBT+ is rare and not a big deal.
“What about all the movies with a husband and wife, isn’t that forcing sexuality on kids?”
Yeah – the only legit sexuality; the one that is baked-in to everything else; the only one that could have brought you into existence; the only one that can ever be blessed by your Creator. It’s the created one; the normal one – in fact, one could say that ‘husband and wife’ is objectively good, while husband and husband/wife and wife are just foolish and irrational and just weird.
Can we also mock disabled people as weird and abnormal? And while we’re at it any guy who believes in a “creator” and a magic man in the sky is probably a freak.
Kids wouldn’t be there if it weren’t for a husband and wife. Not anything else(including bees). Anyone can love who ever, I just see no reason to force the confusion. Fact is children only come from a male and female.
There are networks for that type of sexuality it’s was fought for it’s a parade for them so put it in their sitcoms, movies etc not on every one of ours or what’s the point of their networks did not want heterosexuals to force them straight so why is it ok to force us and our children Gay !?! Make it make sense ! That’s the problem period only and idiot wouldn’t understandont force that agenda on our children exposing them to early !
My friend was never in any way exposed to homosexuality and he told me he knew he was gay by the age of six. You can’t force someone to be gay and you can’t teach them to be gay that’s so stupid. You are either gay or you aren’t there’s no forcing or teaching involved. They are teaching one thing and one thing only tolerance. Something you obviously know nothing about. It should be normalized just because you personally hate something doesn’t make it abnormal. Gay people are normal bigots like you who walk around hating and judging people are abnormal. Most people live and let live only psychos walk around hating.
Richard, you’re right;this is the norm now. It doesn’t mean that everyone that isn’t interested in seeing or having their children see same sex stuff are abnormal or “the problem”. All that it really means is that they don’t want to have this forced on them or their children. It is a person’s choice and, some choose to disregard all of the messaging from the enlightened people and follow their own code of beliefs.
No Richard you are a part of the problem that’s not true, they’ve done research after research on brain activity and brain scans, there’s nothing different from a gay person than Heterosexual person it’s preference it’s choice it’s not natural, their is nothing natural about it. it confuses young people. Here’s how we can fix everything let’s just not have kissing and sexual scenes in children’s movies.
The important thing to recognize here is that exposing children to homosexuality is not an innocent act. It is extremely harmful to the children, which is basically a form of child abuse, while they’re still developing their sexual preferences. Such harmful propaganda must be stopped by all means necessary.
Just because a small number of people are born with a fringe abnormality (like a stuttering) doesn’t make it “normal”. And the media now try to advertise it everywhere in an attempt to convert the marginal children to this abnormality.
Some people are born with genes that predispose them strongly and they then become homosexual. Some have weak disposition genes and they can become either heterosexual or homosexual. Research has found with unequivocal supporting data that homosexual exposure would increase the chance of a marginal child (or adult) becoming homosexual. For example, research has found that there are far more male homosexual prisoners than the average population because there were no women around.
For those arguing to expose children to homosexuality, ask yourself honestly if you want your OWN kids to become homosexual?
Homophobia with racism are not the same. Racism is wrong because a racial minority was born that way without any say in his/her racial makeup. Homophobia is also wrong when there’s nothing the homosexual person can do about it. It’s wrong and immoral however when a homosexual tries to advertise homosexuality to influence and covert children to his/her lifestyle (in the marginal cases) knowing that many marginal children can become either heterosexual or homosexual.
Again, if you don’t want your children to become homosexual, you must try to stop the media’s harmful attempts to expose children, especially the marginal ones, to homosexuality and pretend that it’s a normal thing instead of a fringe lifestyle (for marginal cases).
Just because a tiny fraction of any population has birth abnormalities such as a tendency to depression does not mean we should now advertise and normalize depression in hopes that our marginal children would choose a lifestyle of pessimism and depression.
There has not been a Gene discovered that points to being homosexual or not.. it is a learned behavior for everyone straight or gay. not wrong or right either way but this is the facts as we have them today.
You got the science wrong. Some, not many, people have a tendency to become gay. The majority of these people, especially children, actually can choose to become either heterosexual or homosexual, and their choices can be influenced heavily by media exposure. It’s wrong to expose our children to a fringe lifestyle as “normal”. Homosexuality a fringe lifestyle (in marginal cases) and should be exposed as such.
Gay is normal? Aside from being a very small portion of the total populace, homosexuals are rejected by evolution. They can’t naturally reproduce. Two gay men are the end of their gene pool. Same with two lesbian women.
The problem about the word people are using as “normal” for people to be gay is accurate. Parents like myself who won’t take my children to see gay scenes in a children’s movie is the same thing as me choosing not to take my kids to see movies with bad language, drugs, and sexualizedscenes in movies geared towards teens and adults. Why? Because it isn’t necessarily something I want my 7 year old watching. We are not denying the fact that things in the world exist. We are guarding our children at impressionable ages. Just because something is “normal” in the world doesn’t mean I will take my kids around it. How is that so hard to understand? Do people not realize that even gay parents guard their children’s eyes and minds from many things? It’s not a matter of pretending it doesn’t exist. Get real.
Just because you think it’s normal doesn’t make it that way. Putting that kind of displays of sexual nature should never be a children’s movie topic. When kids become adults then they can decide on their sexual needs. If Walt Disney was here he would have banned such movies. Forcing your sexual preferences on others is wrong. Be an adult and keep sex in the home where it belongs. It’s exactly where I keep mine and I never complain. Nobody’s business but mine what I do behind my closed front door.
7 percent of America’s population identifies as LBGTQ. Please explain how 7 percent is a norm? Also, 7 percent meets the definition of a few, not many. I agree that the message is not subliminal. It is direct and intentional. So, you can deduce that a direct and intentional message pushing a lifestyle that is palatable to only a few and offensive to many woud result in very low attendance and ticket sales…it’s not rocket science.
Please explain what purpose the scene served. The problem is not same sex the problem is forcing it into everything. There was no reason to have a kiss at all same or opposite sex. This is a forced narrative with out reason. That is the problem!
I couldn’t have said it better myself. Saw the movie on a cruise recently and there was no reason to add it to the movie other then to drive a narrative. It added nothing to the story and if I still had young children there is no reason to force this on them. I still don’t know why those in charge are crying foul like the public did something wrong. Go Woke Go Broke!
Normalizing homosexual behavior is dangerous. They are a miniscule portion of the population for a reason…it’s severely abnormal and unhealthy behavior. To normalize that in the eyes of children is catastrophic to our society.
I agree wholeheartedly and will refuse to take my daughter to any movie that should be rated PG13 when same sex issues come up. I’m VERY disappointed in Disney
Hello…queer people have been marginalized, discredited and ignored while heterosexual relationships have been forced down our throats for years. Disney is helping to even things out.
Exactly, and I hope Disney and Pixar continue. Walt Disney Animation Studios is the largest in the world of its industry. They have the influence to begin the start of so much change.
Even things out? There is a time and place to tell all stories and all stories should be told. But it is in every story they tell. We can not have entertainment free of ideologies. Is it to much to ask to have a movie especially one geared toward children where sex doesn’t have to addressed? Again it served no purpose and did not need to be there. Disney is not helping they are wearing people out. No matter your stance when it is shoved in your face all the time your going to naturally rebel. The forcing is begining to have a negative effect. I am glad there is a voice for all people but reason and understanding need to applied to the discussion not a force narrative.
LMAO, you allow your kids to watch T.V. and movies but you are against subliminal messages? That’s all advertising is, every single product placement in a movie or TV show. The same sex kiss is a normal part of peoples lives. No different than an opposite sex kiss.
Like it or not, it is normal. I look forward to the day when something like this will not be news and no one will care. You only have a reason to complain if you are against all kissing.
Perhaps you should propose banning all kissing and public shows of affection? You know, like they have in Muslim countries? Better yet, go live there. Then you won’t have to watch that disgusting kissing and we won’t have to experience your bigotry.
Connor,
LGBTQ+ exists but it doesn’t mean it’s not abnormal (ie, unnatural and anatomically inappropriate). Hence it must not be falsely advertised or encouraged as normal behavior.
Queer is normal jackass…. As long as humans have existed, there have been straight and queer people. It’s perfectly normal. Your just a bigot. That’s the problem.
Homosexualiy is in every town, every city of every county of every state of every country on the planet. It’s been part of humanity since the dawn of time. You have been brainwashed.
To use your own beliefs, are you saying you know the mind of god?
Because your own religion says that god made every single person, and he doesn’t make mistakes, which means god made gay people. But you say being gay is a sin.
So which is it? Was god wrong? Or is being gay okay? Since you know better than god and all that.
It’s not upsetting “Everyone”. It’s upsetting bigots who want to pretend “Everyone” means Cis-gendered Heterosexual people.
I know for a fact that there are queer children who are learning that they aren’t weird or wrong for liking people of the same sex/gender as they are because of movies like this. There will be kids who will be able to have characters they can look up to in media because they’re like them.
Queer kids exist, even if you don’t or won’t admit it. And it’s only going to become more common from here, so you’d best get used to it.
Some people are LGBTQ are strongly predisposed by their genes. The rest are by choice.
LGBTG makes up only a small minority, but some of them tries to expand their numbers by falsely advertising their behavior as normal and to be emulated. This is extremely harmful to gullible children and is a form of child abuse. It’s almost like normalizing and promoting sex with animals to gullible children (why does LGBTQ+ have to stop at humans when anything goes for them: you can f…ck anything as long as it’s about love, equality, inclusiveness, compassion ….?).
Use your common sense and let us all speak out against further harmful LGBTQ propaganda, before they start to also normalize people-animal sex.
Yeah, if we normalize sex between people of the same sex it will lead to sex with animals just like allowing two people of the same race to marry will lead to marriage with animals.
That is how stupid your ugly bigotry is.
A straight person has already avoided unnatural act of sex of people of the same sex. A homosexual is doing something unnatural and against his biological makeup. A plate is not designed biologically to hold soup so don’t use it to hold soup. Just like humans are not designed biologically to have sex with animals or corpses so don’t allow the small minority of freakish people to do so.
I mean, after all, it says in the bible that god made everyone, which means he made gay people. Which means either god made a mistake by accidentally making gay people, or he purposefully made them gay, which means god loves gay people and is okay with them.
So which is it? Since you know better than god, you should tell us.
Homosexuality is not normal human sexual behavior in any way. Two humans of the same sex cannot reproduce naturally and propagate the species. All mammals operate this way.
So according to science, homosexuals are abnormal to natural law. They can live how they want to. But stop acting as if it’s normal, and never will be accepted innately by hetero humans because of the abnormality of said behavior is contrary to how mammals reproduction instinct is programmed into their DNA.
That’s literally the definition of normal. Consisten occurrence among disparate groups is a pattern, not a coincedence. You’re not only a bigot, but an idiot.
Did you complain about the kissing in just about EVERY OTHER Disney movie? Don’t pretend you’re outraged by the kiss, rather than the fact it’s between two women.
In regards to the idea that the same sex kiss was geared toward children is 50% incorrect. The film is aimed at the fan base of the film franchise that began 28 years ago. 10 year olds wont care. 38 year olds (10 when Toy Story came out) are the ones freaking out.
I hope you would say the same about a mixed gender kiss in a children’s film. I assume you have kept your grandson away from previous entries in the Toy Story fantasy as that features risqué material like Woody and Bo Peep sharing a kiss, which, being in a romantic context, is cleary deeply inappropriate to feature in a family film. Any romance featured in a film obviously sexualises the audience. Nobody should touch lips in a film rated below a 12a/PG-13. That ends up beaming explicit sex into the viewer’s minds regardless of age and awareness of sex. It would definitely be wise to remove all non-platonic kisses from ‘for everyone’ films.
Outrage? I’m certainly not outraged. I just refuse to spend my money showing my children something that is beyond their years. And romance between people of the same sex is something that is.
Given the revenue numbers, I’d say many others agree.
Then, romance between people of the opposite sex should also be beyond your kids’ years. Not to mention, many Disney movies have violence. But that’s probably okay, huh?
The only reason you want this crap in kid’s movies is to normalize it. You don’t even try to hide that so give up the act. It is propaganda, plain and simple. The movie failed for being propaganda and so will the rest of it.
Some day you will have to learn that saying something doesn’t make it true. But you are right I dislike you and your ilk. Do what you want in private, but forcing it on kids is unacceptable, especially when it is hidden from parents.
As for violence? I think it is great children learn that sometimes, it is necessary to fight for what is right. Don’t even pretend to disagree when nearly everyone sharing your political position has a Ukrainian flag in their Twitter bio.
If heterosexual relationships, which are present in 99% of media, aren’t forcing anything on kids, neither are homosexual relationships. You want it hidden because you are hateful. End of story.so, violence is acceptable to you, but love isn’t. Enough said.
I wish my child to be comfortable being herself around me. If she is homosexual, so be it. Also, if heterosexual couples don’t make kids straight, homosexual couples don’t make kids gay.
Since you have a choice, do you honestly want to actively expose your kids so that they become homo? Science has shown that exposure can increase the chance a person can becomes homo.
Exposure to homosexual couples will not alter a child’s sexuality. Were that the case, homosexual people would be heterosexual because of the immense exposure to heterosexual people and couples. That’s not how it works.
Anyway, so long as the media is rated for my child’s age and contains nothing graphic (a kiss is certainly not), she’s free to watch what interests her. And if she is homosexual, she will be no less loved and accepted than she is now.
Wow! So all of U screaming about it being forced on U and the children, all of U must be gay now bcuz of all of that dressing up in women’s clothes and kissing men that Bugs Bunny did during sooooo many episodes. If THAT’S how it works then keep flying your gay flags proudly.
People like me didn’t watch it because we don’t like toys and spinoffs that ignore the original work. I don’t support Disney Star Wars for the same reason.
Children aren’t going to be harmed by a blink and you’ll miss it kiss. But they will be harmed by your hatred of other human beings just because they were born a little different.
Amazing that someone could get offended by an expression of love.
You really should move to a Muslim nation, where public affection is illegal.
If heterosexuals can’t force them to be why force us !?! It’s being forced on us almost every show now while they have their own networks that you can push this agenda on stop promoting sexuality on our children !
Heterosexuality is in over 99% of media. There is a children’s film about an insect being married to a human. Nothing is being forced on you. You are prejudiced and don’t want to admit it.
The modern LGBTP+ movement: can’t tell the difference between a bee and a human getting married in a cartoon and promoting unhealthy lifestyles to children.
Maybe if we had record numbers of children claiming they want to marry bees, I would be concerned.
Your logic makes no sense. Lightyear is also a cartoon. A kiss of a same-sex couple isn’t “promoting an unhealthy lifestyle” any more the show of a heterosexual couple is.
Neither is an unhealthy lifestyle. So long as both people of the couple consent and are happy, there is nothing unhealthy about a same-sex relationship or an opposite-sex relationship.
Heterosexuality is how you and everyone else in this post was created and wouldn’t exist without a man and woman. So I think it’s safe to say what’s “normal”!!!! Your preference is your preference everyone will not agree with how you want to live your life. However, I think it’s awesome that people are able to express themselves. It’s when that narrative is being forced people have concerns with.
99% of media features heterosexual people and couples, but you certainly don’t consider that forced. Also, not all heterosexual people want to have children (and some homosexual people want to be parents).
Bottom line though, heterosexual or homosexual parents. It IS the parents choice of whether or not they allow their children to see any movie or TV show for any reason. Whatever your pov, this is a fact. Until children are going to the movies alone and making their own decisions about what they see, Movies that have scenes anyone views as inappropriate for their child won’t be patronized. Not a hard concept. It doesn’t matter if they keep making movies and continue on the path. Parents will choose based on how they feel or don’t feel comfortable with the films.
Wow you really must be a big closet case lol. You constantly talk about homosexuals forcing themselves on you. Is your lil fantasy? More proof that the biggest, most whiny bigots are always the biggest self loathing closeted gay people. LOL
My problem with it is that it was Andy’s favorite film in 1995 and same sex marriage was not legal. So it should have been never made much less edited out and put back in a 1995 movie!!!
I like how this article is driven to one point r two of why it sucked. It wasn’t bad if you had no expectations. They spent more time on being progressive then a good movie needed for his origin story. That was not his origin story at all. There were too many good movies out like Top Gun which had it all. Light year should’ve been on the same page. It had a weak story, lil action, weak characters and twist. It wasn’t only unnecessary kiss n lesbian character it was a disregard for the actual fans.
Go woke, go broke. Disney’s constant attempts to normalize something at its very core isn’t normal. This caters to maybe 3%-5% of the population. Given the success of Top Gun Maverick, it’s clear that the majority are Christian, America loving Patriots, who are tired of being force-fed an ideology that they simply don’t believe in. By trying to be “inclusive”, they’ve successfully become exclusive. There are lines drawn here and Disney is basically imploding in on itself. Sorry, Walt, it had a good run.
You’re clearly not getting it, homosexuality Does Not Belong In A Kid’s Movie! Disney trying to indoctrinate children has caused them to lose tons of fans. To pander to a minority of viewership is an ingredient to failure.
Black people are also a minority. Thank goodness Disney disagree black people aren’t appropriate for children. If opposite sex couples belong in a children’s film, so do same-sex couples. The literal difference is gender. Nothing more.
Are you assuming that you know the color of my skin? The color of a human being’s skin has nothing to do with the heart and mind of their soul. I would never expect anyone who is a non-Christ follower to understand this and I have no idea who is or who is not for Christ. The truth is the truth whether it is believed or not. And unbelief doesn’t stop it from being true. Homosexuality has no business being flaunted in front of anyone especially children. There was once a tolerance because at the root of it all, it’s about loving the person but not their sins. However, now those sins are magnified daily in all things; infiltration of innocent minds with, yes, an ideology that goes against a moral society whose compass for the majority is the Bible.
“For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile. This Good News tells us how God makes us right in His sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.”
But God shows His anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness. They know the truth about God because He has made it obvious to them. For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see His invisible qualities—His eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.
Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship Him as God or even give Him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused.Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools. And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles. So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies. They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator Himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen. That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved.
~Romans 1:16-17
Anyway, I assumed nothing about your skin. I said black people are also a minority since your argument was homosexual couples shouldn’t be shown because they are a minority. If homosexual couples are inappropriate for children, so are heterosexual couples.
Find another world, love. We don’t want that stuff to be on this one. You guys have your movies, books and music, so please don’t invade the rest of ours, that’s pure greed and anger. I remember once I heard a group of guys talking about a ‘converting party’ and when I asked what was that about they said it was a party to which you should bring a straight guest or two to join and be converted to the LGBTQ whatever, and enjoy an “all-together party” (guess you know what this means for sure) …. A complete madness. Conclusively, you keep your stuff to you and we keep our stuff for the rest of the world that does not want to join your crew
Guessing you don’t watch Paramount stuff very often. Go check out their line up. PS Goose and Maverick loved each other. No they did not have sex but that is not what homosexual relationships are only about. If you are so against love between same sex is it jus the sex part or it is ok to intensely love the some sex as long as you don’t show and embrace or kiss? Anyway, there was nothing woke about the film. There was nothing great about the film. The movie was decent and a message that most adults don’t get yet alone kids and how that sparked such a popular toy the made Toy Story, is beyond me. There were misses in the film and that’s why it only made 200 million. If they didn’t market it so hard they would be 100+. I don’t think his comments were lashing out. You do realize that this is hardly the even close to the biggest financial flop Disney made right? Onward is a much bigger flop. Or are you just so happy it only made 200 million with a .04 sec embrace/kiss with two women. I thought that what straight guys like? Maybe because one is black and the other white? Prob a lot of reasons rationalized bu righteousness.
I’m sorry, but I don’t like the way that he responded to the lack of success of the movie by saying we should be happy because we only get one or two a year and just take what we get and like it. That is so self-centered and incredibly condescending. Insultingly so. Come on. Make a good movie and people will pay to see it… That subplot issue was added in because Disney clearly stated in some leaked videos early this year that they were going to put these type of relationships and everything they do. The fans don’t like that. Keep doing it and you will lose a lot of them. Stop doing it so much and only do it when it makes sense and it adds to the storyline, and the movies will do well. Pixar did well because they made good stories. That’s the end of it. They made great stories, and they produce them very well. When you start pushing an agenda instead of just telling a good story you’ve lost a big portion of your audience. It’s your choice disney. This can’t be that hard to understand can it?
Khadijah, this very website covered the story a few months ago. Disney is on record making a statement that they were making a commitment to making films with 50% of the cast being minorities. (Minorities to include alternative lifestyles) So yes…it is entirely true, and most definitely happened.
Indeed. Interestingly enough, if representation matters, shouldn’t it be representing groups in the amounts they actually exist in society? (for example in terms of homosexuality since that appears to be the subject of most of the comments; shouldn’t it be 3-5% rather than 50) Anything more is just skewing the reality that we live in and giving a pretty unbalanced view of the real world.
Nice try. No one ever said we had to have all white casts. The best person (or actor) for a job should get the job period. When you make it a point to hire someone only because of their race, sex or sexuality regardless of whether they are the best person for the job or not, you are just as wrong as someone who wouldn’t hire someone simply because of their race/sex/sexuality. Strange how you insisted that something didn’t happen and when people called you out on it, you deflected to something that had nothing to do with the conversation. It’s almost as if you simply want to argue.
I also watched those leaked videos. So, your saying don’t believe my own eyes & ears? What are you a Democrat LOL ! Cut back on the Disney Kool Aide it’s warping your outlook !
Jeezaloo, Khadijah you’re all over this comment section for days. Don’t you have a job or family or something else to do? Time to hold up the old mirror and look at yourself. All that anger and rage isn’t good for your digestive system.
Agreed Mike. Khadijah seems to think all this bullying those with a different opinion will accomplish something. Maybe take a deep breath and focus on something real instead of getting hysterical with a bunch of strangers on the internet.
Totally agree Jerry. Make good stories period. Stop trying to just cobble something together out of talking points. People didn’t want the questionable content, the makers of the movie doubled down and said they would keep it in. Consumers spoke with their wallets, stayed home and the movie bombed. Pretty simple.
This movie missed a great opportunity. It was supposed to be a movie set in the ’90s, yet the characters and the drama was all 2022. Had they spoofed the ’90s Era, that would have made it an appropriate movie. And they didn’t ever say “YOU ARE A SPACE RANGER!” That would have been perfect when Buzz was feeling low. It’s clear the director was more interested in making a point about accepting the failures of others instead of staying true to the actual Toy Story world. Plus the time travel and 2nd Buzz made no sense in any universe, real or imagined. The kiss and even the while lesbian take was unnecessary. It was the ’90s. It didn’t fit the time period. Sorry. It was a huge miss.
Why push sexuality on children gay or straight. It’s inappropriate and should be illegal. Disney is allowing a few weirdo freaks claiming diversity to inject propaganda in to children’s films. I hope and pray Disney plunders and will laugh when they have to start selling franchises to stay viable.
Khadijah,
You’re confusing “minority” with “abnormal”. Abnormal is when LGBTQ commits unnatural acts that go against their own biological, anatomical, hormonal makeup. A man is created by nature (or God) with certain biological features and hormones to have sex with a woman, not with another man (or trees, animals, corpses, etc.). In contrast, black, white, red, or yellow people have perfectly compatible biological makeups for each other.
The reason it failed was because it was geared to the kids who grew up on The toy story franchise, who are now adults, their children now either have no clue about the character or just not interested, and adults aren’t going to see a animated movie without the children
Jeffrey, that didn’t hamper the numbers for Toy Story 4. No, it was pretty simple. After all the bad press about it, people didn’t want the alternative lifestyle content and wouldn’t spend the money to go. We’ll see how many of these box office failures it takes for Disney to get the point. Hopefully not many. I miss good story-telling. I don’t have any interest in spending what it takes to go to the movies to see something that is just a thinly veiled vehicle for an agenda.
While it might not have been a big scene or shoved down your throat the fact that there was even any same sex kissing or references is enough for me to not want to see it. Not to mention letting my own child watch it. The problem is letting things like this become normal which is exactly what they’re trying to do. With enough of this even in small amounts being put in front of our eyes the intent is if they do it long enough we will eventually be so desensitized we will call it normal.
It is normal. Also, most Disney films contain large amounts of violence (especially pre-2000s films), and every Disney film with romance features a heterosexual couple, no matter how absurd. There is a children’s film about the marriage of a bee and a human (not by Disney). I certainly hope your child does not adopt your prejudice.
Does not matter how many times you say homosexuality is normal, it is not. It’s like someone being born as albino. It happens but it’s not “normal.” That doesn’t mean they should be treated in anyway other than with kindness and compassion as one should treat all others. But the purpose of sex is reproduction and no set of homosexuals can produce a child outside of artificial methods. Homosexuality is not normal. It isn’t bad, it doesn’t offend me. I have friends that are lesbian. But a world filled entirely of homosexuals would become extinct.
I see, so according to you if either person in a heterosexual marriage is unable to have children, i.e. sterile, having sex is unnatural.
Alrighty then…..
So U must be gay now bcuz of all of that dressing up in women’s clothes and kissing men that Bugs Bunny did during sooooo many episodes right? Oh wait U must THINK U are straight bcuz Bugs Bunny dressed in drag and kissed men so many more times than they did on Buzz Lightyear. SMH
When Lightyear was first announced I was thrilled and couldn’t wait to see it. Then it was announced Tim wouldn’t be Buzz.
Tim Allen is Buzz. Without him, I had no further interest.
And dear God, anyone else have ads pop up over the box while you’re typing every 15 seconds? It’s annoying as h*ll and makes me want to NOT come back to the page.
Didn’t like the fact that the Evil guy was just him from the future. Why couldn’t they just make him his father like in Toy Story 2? Seriously, the problem now a day with Pixar films is the twists they try to pull. Why can’t it ever be a simple this is the villain? There is no backstory or crazy twist. Why I enjoyed Luca and Encanto so much was it gave a break to the twist villain thing. I have more thoughts on the film but that’s really my main complaint
I like a high percentage of any movie that I watch. I paid to watch both Lightyear and Minions. While I liked both movies, I can honestly say that I identify more with the Minions characters than any single character in Lightyear.
I have not seen the movie nor will I.
Everyone is talking about the kiss, but no one is questioning the likelihood of Buzz Lightyear’s best friend is a black lesbian.
Typical Hollywood, we’re so inclusive, throw a black in the mix.
If Hollywood was inclusive, it would include Asians, Arabs, and Hispanics, which are our largest minority by the way, and Native Americans.
What they are doing is pampering a group that cries and complains incessantly, which is why they’re in every commercial and every movie.
If someone visiting from another country were to turn on the television, in a few hours they would assume that blacks make up 45 percent of the population instead of 13 percent.
That is not fair to other minorities that are not complainers.
If its based on the man then you would still need the voice of tim. The toy would be given the voice of the man.I dont care to see it, i feel it is just unessary filler.
Listen, it is not normal for same sex couples nor pride month. We are talking a very small percentage of the population. Children do not have to miss a movie because of objectionable parts. Children will not be taught in school if parents object to the unnecessary curriculum. Get over your sudden need to force your lifestyle. Pro abortion groups cry privacy. I want it here too!!
Wow, Bugs Bunny dressing up in women’s clotheing and kissing all of those men must of turned U gay. Or did U conveniently skip over all of those episodes all of those years it was on?
I am confused how his comments are “lashing out”? Anyway, while I did not think this was the best Pixar movie, it was certainly not a bad movie. Interesting concept of how the Toy was so popular but I don’t think that movie would have made the toy a must have for kids. I really see it as a movie for adults and finding worth in yourself and your surroundings not in what you accomplish especially if it doesn’t add to the big pictures. Concept beyond a 4-10 year old but I enjoyed it. Oh and the Kisss? There are same sex mentioning all thought Thor and nobody says a word. I don’t know when this world will get it head on real problems rather than worry about people who bring up loving families that fit their ideal. Guess what, you don’t fit theirs either and the only thing blocking you from seeing it is the excuse of moral righteousness.
I don’t know what you have seen but Thor is being blasted this second for all its gay crap. And yes, calling people who see your movie “trolls” is ridiculous. If you have that thin a backbone maybe you shouldn’t show anyone your work. A normal well-adjusted person, as a director, would have said something like, “We all love what we created, however, I understand that not everyone will like it. We all have our opinions and mine is that we created a great movie.” That’s a good director response, not pouting like a five-year-old. And 99% of people, religious alike, don’t care who is gay but they are tried of having it pushed front in center in every movie, tv show, magazine, etc. Especially in kids programming which is why Disney is suffering. When your business model relies on families with children for everything you do, movies, theme parks, TV shows you should cater to what they want or you’ll end up bankrupt.
We saw it with our daughter. The film was entertaining. However, it just seemed like any other Pixar/Disney movie released in the last 3-4 years. They are all getting predictable. The marvel movies are in the same direction. Your formula is old when I can predict when to use the bathroom and not miss anything important. Does it deserve the bad rap that it’s getting…. No. But it doesn’t push any new territory for Pixar/Disney. I’m the end, wait till it hits Disney Plus.
Your opinion maybe different… And that’s okay.
I have not seen Lightyear for a couple of reasons.
1. I thought it was about the toy and was disappointed to hear that Tim Allen wouldn’t be voicing Buzz. I don’t like it when characters get switched out, I don’t like change lol
2. Once I read that the movie was about “real Buzz” and not the toy, I then had to decide if I was interested enough in the storyline to pay $60 (just for movie tickets, not snacks) for me and my kids to go. We already knew that we wanted to see Jurassic World and Minions and ultimately decided that Lightyear just wasn’t guaranteed to be a home run and we would wait for it to be released on a cheaper medium. We would have paid for another movie about the toys because we loved all of the previous Toy Story films.
And you Alexia are the first voice of reason why the film did not fair well and not due to a .04 sec scene. This is the exact thought. I would not have rushed to see it if I were not an AMC member and pay $22 a month. I would have waited for a cheaper medium especially when everyone is budgeting now. I feel badly that you have to pay $60 to the movies! I hope everyone reads your comment.
I didn’t particularly care for the film either. My boyfriend wanted to see it, so I went with him. He enjoyed and I thought it was good, but not really something I care to rewatch. I think this is part of their trend for origin stories.
Lol, you’re kidding yourself if you think it was because the movie didn’t have Tim Allen as the voice is why it failed. It failed because parents are fed up with Disney’s “woke” agenda, plain and simple. Every woke movie they put out bombs while we see the significance of a patriotic movie like Top Gun Maverick making an unbelievable amount of money because it takes pride in America and no woke BS! Parents will not pay to indoctrinate their own children which is why Disney is failing all over. They are crashing and burning in every aspect of their business and they’ll think twice about putting woke agenda in films going forward. They were unsure to begin with which is why the kiss was banned originally.
Saw the movie with my family, did not enjoy it. It was way to slow moving and boring to be quite honest. 3 of my 4 children (ages 10, 8, 6 and 5) fell asleep during the movie. It was the most expensive nap they have ever had! I do not recommend it to anyone who asks me about. We were very disappointed.
Personally, I didn’t ask for an origin story or prequel to Toy Story. I thought it should have stopped after Toy Story 3. I didn’t care for the kiss or no Tim Allen but that wasn’t my sole reason for not watching. It’s a movie I didn’t ask for and I didn’t want to watch in general.
Of course you don’t get it Angus, you Hollywood elite types rarely ever do get what we regular everyday peons enjoy or what we find disheartening or disagreeable.
Yall sound like your saying that kids knowing gay people exist is a bad thing qnd the existence of homosexuality is a thing kids should only know about when there 14. A gay kiss in a movie isnt telling your kid to be gay. This the real world not a ninny factory where u can go live in your fantasy of how Americans or the world should be. This world belongs to everyone and everyone should be celebrated. There not telling your kids to be anything. There are many places and people who actually force stuff on your kids. Love is not propaganda
It does work that way. How do you that some homosexuals didn’t become straight after exposures to heterosexual examples? If you keep exposing gullible kids to sex with animals, you can bet that some of them will think it’s normal and start to do it too.
Yeah, explain why 40% of gen z is identifying as LGBTLMNOP? It’s all about optics and what is “cool” and “in”. You don’t have a 400% increase in transgender children unless the kids are being influenced by something.
I was very disappointed with this movie as a grandmother taking a granddaughter. It actually was too confusing for children and even worse was the same sex relationship through out the movie. These young children do not need to be exposed to this life style here because they can be exposed to this at their parents’ discretion! Overall bad movie!!
Homosexual people are real people, and this is rich coming from someone who is offended by a 2-second kiss. You can’t stand people who are different from you being given equal treatment.
Every single one of you weirdos falls back on the argument that it exists, so it must be shoved in everyone’s faces. No one cares you exist. Get over yourself.
At least, you finally put your hate in the open and stopped beating around the bush. But again, the irony.
Thankfully, many people do care about the existence of people who are LGBTQ+. You get over yourself and your bigotry.
A brief kiss is not shoving anything in anyone’s faces. But perhaps the 99% presence of heterosexual couples and people in media is, if we’re really going with that argument.
The important thing to recognize here is that exposing children to homosexuality is not an innocent act. It is extremely harmful to the children, which is basically a form of child abuse, while they’re still developing their sexual preferences. Such harmful propaganda must be stopped by all means necessary.
What about the kids on the borderline between heterosexual and homosexual who would become homosexual if overexposed to it? What if that is your kid; would you still want to expose him and take a chance?
If my child is homosexual, so be it. My child’s sexual orientation is not of importance to me. I do hope she feels comfortable and confident in telling me and introducing me to any partners the same as if she were heterosexual.
If she likes a show where a homosexual couple is present, so long as everything else is appropriate (G or PG rating, no graphic violence), she’s welcome to watch it.
Exposure to homosexuality doesn’t alter a straight person’s orientation any more than exposure to heterosexuality alters a gay person’s orientation.
There’s lots of data if you’d like to search online.
More importantly, use COMMON SENSE. Children are impressionable. If we keep marketing to them something abnormal as normal (ie, common-sensically, a man is not naturally, biologically, anatomically, hormonally, reproductively built to have sex with another man), many of them will believe it and screw up their life.
Oh no, so a child growing up in a gay household with two dads or two moms being 70% more likely to be gay is normal? Hmm, the fact that Gen z identifies at 40% lgbtlmnopqrs, up from like less that 5% is normal? If you brainwash someone long enough they think whatever you want them to be. And right now it’s “trendy” to be LGBT mafia. Oh and it’s not a choice to be gay, etc but what is gender fluid?
Thanks for the data, Brandon. Wow, I didn’t know LGBTQ propaganda is already creating so much damage to our children. We must no longer keep quiet and let these predators harm our children any further.
It wasn’t that good of a film. It was okay. Just okay. Pixar films should not be just okay. Also when Disney hypes up a gay kiss to absurdist levels, you are going to get backlash. It was peck which is fine but every article about it hyped it like it was a full out sex scene. Disney has no one to blame but themselves
The push to sexualize children through media/public education is apparent and disgusting. My very very large family and pretty much everyone I know is done with this garbage. Make something political and sexual (especially a kids show) and you will not get a dollar from me. Tell the damn story and keep your political ideologies out!

Your labeling people doesn’t make your argument correct. By trying blindly to be PC, the media is harming our children by lying to them that LGBTQ is normal/common/mainstream, thereby encouraging them to adopt this fringe lifestyle. In some cases, people become homosexual because of their strongly predisposed genes. In many cases, the genes are weak and people can become either heterosexual and homosexual, depending on their exposure to either lifestyle.
I agreewith you mostly but I’ll add almost every gay person I’ve spoken with has had some sort of trauma which affected them dramatically. Either they were molested, abused, one parent left or both parents were gone. And it’s not even close, like 90% of gays. It’s also not surprising that if a child grows up in a gay home with two dads or moms they have a 70% higher chance on being gay. Nature vs nurture, I don’t think so. It’s NOT normal and it’s a tiny fraction of the population but if you watch TV you’d think that 50% of the population was gay.
I refuse to watch the movie or let my child watch it when they are promoting homosexuality. If people want to live that lifestyle that’s up to them but I do not support it nor do I want it crammed down my child’s throat. It’s completely unnecessary in a Disney film.
Wow! So all of U screaming about it being forced on U and the children, all of U must be gay now bcuz of all of that dressing up in women’s clothes and kissing men that Bugs Bunny did during sooooo many episodes. If THAT’S how it works then keep flying your gay flags proudly.
No, the fact that gays went from 5% of the population to 40% would say otherwise. Gen z identifies as 40% LGBT mafia. The programming has worked and gay and trans is trendy. And bugs bunny never did that in many episodes, get over yourself as you say that everywhere and it makes no sense. So kids will dress up in the opposite semester clothes and some boys with play with Barbies but most will grow out of it. Others will have their parents force hormone blockers on them sadly.
I saw it and was very disappointed in the film.
I felt like the story didn’t have as much heart as previous Pixar films.
The choice to stray so far from the source material that audiences have known for nearly 30 years didn’t make a lot of sense. Zurg is not “Evil Emperor Zerg” that we were told he was, he’s just old and jaded Buzz. An unnecessary plot twist at best, not clever story telling.
The claustrophobic nature of the film made little sense as well.
This is a story about a “space ranger” we should have seen several alien worlds and creatures. What we got was a Robinson Crusoe, Swiss family Robinson/lost in space “we are stuck” story.
This brings up a point that makes absolutely no sense at the end of the film
If the maroon crew just decide to become a colony on the strange planet, how did they create a galactic alliance?
With whom are they Allied?
I just wish we had gotten an engaging space adventure with characters that you get to spend time with.
Over all 4 out of 10
Somewhere around cars 2 is where this film belongs
I think that’s a great idea and then in the next two years the gays will be bankrupt and heteros will rule again. Man, I’ve never been more behind an idea than this in my life. It’s awesome! Let’s see how many movies can get off the ground without “heteros” support. Lol
…stop complaining, and make quality pictures. I call these microwave movies. Not much goes into them, just push of button to complete. It’s really sad, clear reflection of our times.
Lightyear was an abuse towards children. Expressing the lesbian couple and their kiss is not to be aimed at a child audience. Disney should be ashamed. The founder would hate this garbage.
It was shown as a joke and not something for kids to emulate, idiot!!!
Also, if a kid is strongly predisposed to be gay, then gay exposure won’t change him. But if a kid is near the middle, gay exposure could push him over the edge.
Some tiny group of people may or may be inclined to have sex with their dogs, but it doesn’t mean the media should normalize and encourage that with gullible kids in the name of love or equality or whatever BS reasons they make up.
You mean the made up story about schools accomodating kids with litter boxes? Bruce Bostelman already apologized for claiming it to exist when it didn’t.
Copying and pasting the same comment does not make it right. Bugs bunny cross dressed in about 30 to 40 cartoons out of thousands so it wasn’t that much. And it was always done with the attempt to get over on the other character. Kids grow out of dressing up as the opposite gender. And explain how gays have shot from less than 5% of the population to up to 40%
Maybe if he had given fans what they wanted they would have watched your crummy movie. For a start, keeping Tim Allen might have been a good idea. Also, did he really expect parents to be happy with their young kids being subjected to gay toys. May be it’s up to parents to teach their kids about the birds and the bees l, homosexuality, etc etc, when they feel it’s appropriate. It’s not Pixar’s or Disney’s responsibility or business. Period.
Re release with Tim Allen voicing Buzz as should have been and I will gladly buy ticket and go see !! Would also give Disney an ironic op 2 make double Bubble !! Bit like a directors edition, but an anti-directors edition !
While I typically don’t see the big deal with a kiss I never remember kissing happening in any films for children when I was younger unless it added to the story. It is kind of unusual how they are showing this now.
Its just a movie. Disney is not what it was when i was growing up. (70’s and 80’s)
Has the director ever sat back and thought that the economy sucks and ppl dont have money for entertainment?
I’ve had to stop buying things that are needed for my craft. I just no longer had the extea income.
Any thing sexually definitely has no place in a movie geared towarde kids.
I’m sure he thought that at first… the the very next weekend Minions buried Lightyear. People are still spending money on things that are worth spending money on.
Since John Lasseter left Pixar, their films have been mediocre at best. Most are made for a target audience instead of how they used to be made for everyone.
Instead of acknowledging their mediocrity they blame everyone else on their lack of success.
The vast majority of us are done with paying $50 to see crap in a theatre, especially with inflation on food, gas and utilities.
And the Hobbit movies sucked 90% of the time. Seriously, first time ever I started falling asleep during movies. There were SOME great scenes, but it was mostly bland filler that was easily forgettable. It should have been one two hour movie, not three painful movies.
Use your common sense and let us all speak out against further harmful LGBTQ propaganda, before they start to also normalize people-animal sex.
the movie was kind of boring. There was very little funny moments. The robot cat was cute. The subject matter of living in the past with regret instead of living the now and all that is not something kids necessarily relate too.
As for the kiss it was a blink and you miss it thing. But, why don’t we take the romance out of children’s movies entirely? Most Disney princess were teenagers that married strangers. That is much more bizarre to me than two married women kissing briefly in their home. After reading some comments here I am sincerely worried what might happen if one of your kids were gay. Are you going to berate them and tell them they are not normal? Send the to conversion camps until the hate themselves so much they want to kill themselves.
For the same reason you don’t encourage your kids to have sex with animals, with corpses, with babies …. It’s not normal (ie, not natural and against the practice of the vast majority of people) and it’s wrong!
A good film, yeah shame Tim Allen didn’t do the voice but it’s different type of thing! Buzz isn’t crazy enough for Tim 😂 it’s a good film!! Thoroughly enjoyed it and will watch again
Disney needs to stick to its original movie making, they are going to loose alot more fans going this route with their movies. Do they really need to show affection at all ? its a kids movie kids don’t think about that so why put it ? It just made things worse, im glad I herd about it because I didn’t know about the scene and I was going to take my son to see it but then I saw they tired to sneak that in the movie without knowledge? I didn’t take my son to see it after that. That’s getting to close to my parental rights. Parents have a right to know what’s in any movie their kid watches not anyone else’s decision!
Lol, poor little Angus. Just keep telling yourself that. Keep on refusing to see and hear what the vast majority of moviegoers are telling you through low ticket sales and attendance. By all means, keep making movies, keep trying to be ‘cool, woke and progressive’, and definitely keep pandering to the purchasing power of the minority. When your movies continue to be flops that very few want to see, you can grow old in obscurity trying to figure out why.
I care not. If you can’t see the nose on the end of your face, who am I to remind you that it’s there?
Minions for the Win (it’s a better movie, in my opinion).
I’m disappointed by those Pixar – Disney films that deserved a theatrical release, only they got dumped onto Disney+ (Lightyear seemed like it actually was meant for Disney+, not theatrical).
Toy Story and it’s Characters have been sequeled too many times. The Buzz Lightyear cartoon TV Series (back in the day) was cool, but this Lightyear didn’t seem necessary.
I saw it the week it came out I loved it it action adventure and awesome effects my favorite plot twist was that zurg was an aged buzz from a different timeline. Chris evens did a good job as buzz I think it’s a good thing they switched actors I love Tim Allen but this shows that anyone can be lightyear
I haven’t seen the movie yet (but i will when it gets to Disney+), but I have seen the trailer. OMG!! Buzz Lightyear has a gun! Is that the Disney agenda, to try and normalize guns? I’m not exposing my children to those sick ideas.
He has a robotic cat? That is not normal. God didn’t make robots to look like that. Blasphemy.
Wait, aliens! There isn’t even scientific proof that aliens exist.
Same sex kiss – that’s just normal. My kids see that on the street. and I hope that continue to see their LGBTQ+ friends find longterm happiness.
Sex withe another of the same sex is just as unnatural as sex with a dog or a horse or a corpse or young children. Our society is already so liberal that it’s accepting homosexuality (though not other devious forms of sex). Now some LGBTQ is pushing their luck by demanding to market it as normal and convert innocent children to their devious lifestyle. We must stop them before they destroy our future generation.
You’re confusing love with sex. You love your same-sex friends, dogs, cats, neighbors, children … but you don’t have sex with them like LGBTQ+ (same-sex sex), do you?
im guessing this article was mostly advertised on right wing spaces because good god. literally most people didnt go to this movie because the concept is redundant and didnt interest them. bigots get over yourselves challenge your hatefulness and stupidity makes me sick <3 thank you for standing up to these people though!! even if most will never learn :/
Hello, I am not from USA, and sorry if I want to only share my thought on this matter:
As a noted first : I comes from a conservatives country with a religion that you know, hating gay and such. But I am the minority both of races and religion so its not affecting on my was of thinking.
There was a man I know that have a seems to be an XXY syndrome that develop a tipical of woman, and he has interested in woman. I really welcome and support with his conditions and point of view from my heart. I back him up when other saying unneccessary mock of him.
Its okay with people has differrent orientation because they can’t help it. But when you tried to marketing it to your every movie, as a mother of three, I really feel unconfortable. The things you should marketing as a support in this matter is to show that people should not bully, mistreated, alienating, differencing anyone who comes up as different as them, either has physical difficulty, social difference (born rich/born poor/divorce family), different religions, nor LGBT person. But in this case, Disney seems to try marketing it from time to time to endorsing the confusing children to choose same sex rather than let them choose it naturally. Why you should put it on every nowadays movie?
If Disney fall into a religion someday, would they also endorse it on their every movie?
I will leave Disney until they understand what mesage that should be put instead (that all human are equal and don’t disturb each others business). This is not a matter of “once you support it, go all in for it,”
I had little interest in seeing the movie. The idea that the toy was based on some future version of Buzz sounded like it was going to be too convoluted to be interesting. It was an unnecessary movie that doesn’t fit in with the original movies.
Although I am glad that a simple kiss made a bunch of RWNJs heads explode.
Top Gun: Maverick has done 1.1 billion…so far. There is no agenda, no hidden messaging. Just a great movie. With the exception of a couple of expletives and a “morning after” scene (really later that evening), it’s not even totally inappropriate for kids. The cast is diverse, and pretty much accurate to what one would find in real life. There are even female pilots. Are they lesbian? Don’t know. It isn’t addressed because it isn’t important to the story. If the viewer wants them to be, they can be. If not, then no. Just a couple of badass women doing badass things.
If Disney just got off the agenda train, they could have easily done this or similar. If “the kiss” is important to the story, then fine. If it’s not, let kids be kids and not have to deal with adult themes. They don’t need to be shoehorned in there…which is how it sounds it was, especially when whoever it was publicly announced they were putting the scene in there purposely to “enrage the conservatives”. Guess what. There’s half your movie goers skipping Lightyear and seeing Minions instead.
No wonder Disney stocks are tanking. They purposely don’t want half the population’s money.
Sadly for the very same reasoning why we will NOT be seeing this film…I work in a middle school and the over bearing push upon this age group for the lgbtq- ad infinitum-ad nauseum is so sickenly implemented for its same sex kiss that it fails…plz Pixar/Disney “get it” there are far more people who pay for your products that are either against that unwanted issue on screen and are being pushed away because of it. Iam a person of color and I will never equivocate my experiences to validate what you offensively push on kids…adults making that decision ito view is one thing but foisting it upon our children about sex and that is what it comes down to is unacceptable.
Plain and simple, the movie was not good.
This is suppose to be a movie a young boy would see, have such a great time seeing it, be so excited after seeing that he would want a Buzz action figure, and that did not happen.
If anything Andy would want the cat, not Buzz.
Forget the political and personal issues, the movie did not live up to the expectations and did not sell anyone on Buzz being the next big action figure.
Umm I was on his side until he said low ratings for the bloated Hobbit movies with their weird added romance were written by trolls…unless he meant the literal trolls from the story, I can’t trust this man’s judgement.
We probably would have seen the movie if it hadn’t been for the meeting in which Disney execs said they’re planning on more LGBTQ content for kids. Also, they came out against the Florida Parental Rights in Education bill which has been very misrepresented. We just canceled Disney plus because my 8 year old son doesn’t need to learn about menstruation from Baymax. It’s not up to Disney, teachers, or anyone else to educate my children on sensitive issues. We just want some fun entertainment, but I’m not going to pay you to tell me how to raise my kids.
I began my boycott of everything Disney a long time ago. I refuse to allow my child to be indoctrinated by someone else’s broken agenda covered in catchy music and colorful characters. Everything your child watches and listens to has a huge impact on them. It’s never JUST a movie.
My son and I went to see Lightyear and left before it was finished. The story just didn’t grab him, he was bored and wanted to leave. This movie just didn’t have the same “spark” as the Toy Story movies we grew to love. We did see Minions the following weekend… it grabbed his attention much better and we stayed until the very end!
It’s simple…
I want my children to be children. As a parent I don’t want to go to a theater, spend 50 dollars on a movie and entertainment to have to have a conversation about people kissing with my young child.
It’s my choice as to where my money is spent.
I took my daughter to see it on opening weekend. I had not read or heard anything about it at that point, as it was an impromptu decision to go see it.
We really enjoyed it.
I was a little bothered by Tim Allen not voicing Buzz. After all, his voice has become so synonymous with Buzz these past 25 years (not sure I got the franchise age right. I’m pre-coffee this morning). My daughter (5) didn’t bat an eye at the same-sex kiss or ask any questions. Quite frankly, there are plenty of LGBTQ+ in this world and our children are going to encounter them. There are children in their schools who have same-sex parents. I’d rather my child treat them the way she’d treat anyone else instead of asking questions and focusing on the relationship. Like it or not, the LGBTQ+ community is not going away. They are people, just like you are, and you aren’t better than them. Might as well let your children have some exposure to it so that when they meet a same-sex couple they aren’t thrown off by it and can treat them like they are just normal people.
I thought Lightyear was okay, except for the part where Buzz wakes up in the barracks and they try to slyly imply he had been sleeping with another male space cadet. Adults got the joke! Inappropriate!
I personally thought that the same sex scenes in the movie we’re great and it’s ridiculous that people are getting this pressed about two ANIMATED CHARACTERS of the same gender being in a relationship. No kid is going to come out of Lightyear saying “I like girls/boys now!”. Grow up.
Haven’t seen the movie. Liked the toy story movies watching with my grandkids but I realize that gays in society is normal however I don’t want to have to watch it on the screen and I wouldn’t take my children or grandchildren to see it. I’m tired of getting politics and wokeness shoved in my face.
I guess when you cater a movie to please 20% of the population is doomed to fail. Also most parents are heterosexual and as I remember kids can’t pay for movies by themselves. So if a parent don’t want that for their kids you can’t force them. Their money, their choice…
I honestly don’t care about sexual preferences, but in more than 90% of movies PDAs bring no value to the story line so I’m ok with movies not displaying it whether it’s heterosexual or not. Those scenes can be insinuated but not displayed. It won’t change the story line.
You are too “woke” when you can’t understand why someone would not want to watch a movie you are in or created because of the unnecessary woke things that you felt the need to put in the movie that do nothing to add to the story
Homosexuals and people without kids are the only people that think homosexuality is normal. We have to protect our kids from this crap. I don’t care if this movie was good enough to make you cry, the fact that they included abnormal crap (homosexuality) in this movie for kids makes one of the worst films of all time!!! Hopefully disney learns their lesson and don’t pull this crap again!!
Why it failed. My kids (12-20) didn’t like the movie. “It was boring and long and pointless but the cat was funny.” Even my die hard Disney kid thought it was meh. That’s a huge age range to ignore. I think Disney knew how it was going to perform.
I don’t get it. Disney removed the gay kiss because they thought it would bring outrage and dissent with it … and then they were surprised when they brought it back it that people were outraged and dissented ? If Disney and the director here didn’t want that … then why did they put it in the movie ? Choices people.
First Disney has no one to blame but themselves. They are so wrapped up in the own ideology that they forced the narrative of a same sex kiss in a movie targeting CHILDREN. The scene was short and could have been missed in the blink of an eye. The defense is that it was not a big deal, which leads me to the question, why did it have to be there? It served no purpose in moving the movie forward. Had you kept you mouth shut numbers would have been better.
Then this is not a prequel, it’s not about toys! When you take the magic of the perception of toys out of it you have a whole new franchise that needs to find its own voice. You were banking off the name toy story and people just didn’t care. Hey Disney you remember when you made movies free of ideology and moral grandstanding, remember when your movies made a bunch of money? The blue print is there just look back… Then stop attacking the fans, they are the ones with the money you want! The fastest way to lose fans is to tell them they are stupid or horrible just because they don’t like something you made. Not rocket science people.
People will argue queer vs hetero all day long. What really disturbs me, however, is Disney seemingly parenting my children on the subject without my consent. Like saying, if you choose our Disney entertainment, you are consenting for Disney Parent Company to teach your children LGBTQ in the manner we choose fit, because Disney does not trust you to parent your children to Disney ideals on LGBTQ on your own. In short, we at Disney will make sure queer is presented as a healthy lifestyle choice for your kids whether you as parents like it or not. That’s what irks me.
We took our 16 & 9-year old daughters. We were all excited to see it. However we found it dreadfully slow and utterly boring. Quite disappointing. We actually walked out.
For me, it has nothing to do with the supposed anger with the lesbian kiss. I’m all for LGBTQIA+ inclusion.
The problem I have with the new Lightyear film is the same problem I have with the Star Wars sequel trilogy. They had a pre-existing story/source material that fans know about and enjoyed that Disney unwisely decided not to adapt. In the case of Lightyear, they should have created the “real live-action” versions of the characters from “Buzz Lightyear of Star Command”. I personally would have loved to see the updated adventures of Buzz, Princess Mira Nova, Booster Mudchapper XR, Commander Nebula, and the LGMs.
This is very simple and it is a perfect example of how out of touch Hollywood elites and other artists are. Because they are so caught up in aberrant sexual behavior and other fringe philosophies about life in general, and because they surround themselves with others who are similarly inclined, they believe the whole world is like them, or sympathizes with them, etc. No, the rest of us do not hate you or want to hunt you down; but just like I don’t introduce myself by explaining what sexual position I enjoy with my wife – why must you define yourself entirely by what you enjoy doing sexually? It is not normal, it is aberrant, it was previously defined as mental illness. Just shut up about it. If you want to make a movie with homosexual content, then go ahead. Just don’t expect that people that are not interested in it are going to go see it or take their children to go see it.
Nope don’t plan to either. Heard it was dry. Not gonna pay money to watch something I have no interest in. I’ll watch it on my cinimax app. Before I pay to see it. Was told it was one of them the trailer was more interesting. Then again I don’t like Disney movie much. So idk why the dudes so butt hurt. If your proud of the thing. Then be proud. No one can take take that away.
Huummm go woke, go broke. But just like a typical liberal. Blame everyone else for your poor decisions. Yes the minions. Those dastardly little yellow fellows. Lol your a joke and so is Disney
Sorry, there is no scientific evidence that being gay is normal. It’s a choice you make for your lifestyle. If you can follow science, then you are the problem.
“We only get 1-2 big science fiction movies a year. The supply is too low to get too upset about them.” Seriously? More like 1-2 a month these days. There are literally at least 6-8 comic book movies/year alone. This short sighted director, in defending his film, fails to see that the market is glutted with sci fi and people are becoming tired of the genre. These movies are not the event that they once were.
Agnes MacLame, a truly unqualified professional at work. First whether woke or not, the fact is everyone knows why disney put the kiss in, and that’s what upsets people more. Plus the “it’s everybody else’s fault” excuse from hollywood is kinda tired, you made a movie, people didn’t see it, cry me a river, Agnes that’s the industry you’re in….by choice.
That’s your retort? Making fun of my name? Or do you mock any and all names that are not English or American? That’s a taunt I’d expect from a preschooler.
I know the significance of my name. I’ve been told its significance since I was old enough to read and write my name.
Disney has had several films that tanked. It’s hilarious you think one tanked film will stop them in their tracks.
It’s article titles like these that make people not want to see the movie. The title implies that he is guilt-tripping the audience for not seeing it, who’d want to support a movie directed by somebody like that. But it seems he was just making a few points. But instead, the title has already triggered people, and now they will lash back out in return for shots that were never really fired. There goes the movie’s credibility.
Children are young, vulnerable, and easily influenced by what they see and hear.
Disney needs leave our children alone when it comes to sexuality and let them discover those aspects of life when they are able to properly process it and make their own determination whether it is right or wrong.
Comments for ‘Lightyear’ Director Lashes Out at Fans Following Box Office Failures
Sharon
William
Yeah… the whole Disneys “let’s normalize queer” and forcibly putting in all movies especially in childrens movies is upsetting everyone! I don’t want my children marketed to subliminally. Some say that don’t get the outrage. I say they can’t be blinded by the messaging. Sadly this won’t be the last Disney offering that will be downcasted because of their NEED to normalize queerness.
Richard
If you think that is giving subliminal messages, then you’re part of the problem. You do realize that this is actually normal? Many people are in fact gay, and it is scientific fact this isn’t how it happens🙄
Jino Capone
No it’s not normal don’t force sexuality on children you are the problem period
Khadijah
There is a children’s movie about a BEE being married to a human. But sure, a same-sex kiss is “forcing sexuality” on children. Sure. -_-
Blake
What about all the movies with a husband and wife, isn’t that forcing sexuality on kids? How about you come out and say what you truly mean, “get this homo crap away from me”
Maggie Shannon
The director only has himself to blame. Getting mad at your customers because of terrible service on your end is just ridiculous. That’s as silly as a restaurant owner getting angry at his customers for not enjoying the three-star food his business serves. The quality of the product rests squarely on the director in this case, not the consumers.
Mary
Khadijah,
Just because there’s a funny (right or wrong) cartoon of bee & human marriage doesn’t justify the very serious and real LGBTQ agenda in the media. The important thing to recognize here is that exposing children to homosexuality is not an innocent act. It is extremely harmful to the children, which is basically a form of child abuse, while they’re still developing their sexual preferences. Such harmful propaganda must be stopped by all means necessary.
Khadijah
So, an interspecies romantic relationship is not harmful, but a same-sex kiss between two humans of the same gender is. That makes no sense,
Dawn
You are sick…. and need to go take a few biology courses. That is not how that works. Or are you just afraid because you are still in the closet and can’t express how you truly feel because of the hate people would spew at you? Most people that get so mad about LGTBQA+ are just mad because they are afraid of their feelings.
Kiel
Are you an idiot? What’s the difference between exposing children to a male + female relationship compared to a LGBT+ relationship? Both are exposing a viewpoint to the children. What you really mean is that you’re not 100% comfortable with LGBT+ . I hope that you have children and that they are LGBT+ so that it forces you to face your biases and bigotry.
John
Kiel,
Why don’t you expose your children to other unnatural/abnormal sex with animals, corpses, children, etc. too? Please use your common sense to distinguish (easily) between normal and abnormal by simply looking at our anatomy.
Andy
Those who are gay are abnormal?
What about disabled people are they abnormal too since they’re not like the rest of us?
Greg
Seriously dude, no dfference between biologically evolved thousands of years behavior designed for survival of the species and some aberrant behavior that serves no biological purpose? It is easy and proper to tolerate aberrant behavior, but it should not be encouraged. Outside of politics and entertainment (not that different actually), incidence of LGBT+ is rare and not a big deal.
agc
Agreed
Due
“What about all the movies with a husband and wife, isn’t that forcing sexuality on kids?”
Yeah – the only legit sexuality; the one that is baked-in to everything else; the only one that could have brought you into existence; the only one that can ever be blessed by your Creator. It’s the created one; the normal one – in fact, one could say that ‘husband and wife’ is objectively good, while husband and husband/wife and wife are just foolish and irrational and just weird.
Andy
Can we also mock disabled people as weird and abnormal? And while we’re at it any guy who believes in a “creator” and a magic man in the sky is probably a freak.
Anonymous
Those freaks are completely correct, that’s the thing.
I suggest you read some of C.S. Lewis’s works.
Jon
Kids wouldn’t be there if it weren’t for a husband and wife. Not anything else(including bees). Anyone can love who ever, I just see no reason to force the confusion. Fact is children only come from a male and female.
Jino Capone
There are networks for that type of sexuality it’s was fought for it’s a parade for them so put it in their sitcoms, movies etc not on every one of ours or what’s the point of their networks did not want heterosexuals to force them straight so why is it ok to force us and our children Gay !?! Make it make sense ! That’s the problem period only and idiot wouldn’t understandont force that agenda on our children exposing them to early !
Kina
My friend was never in any way exposed to homosexuality and he told me he knew he was gay by the age of six. You can’t force someone to be gay and you can’t teach them to be gay that’s so stupid. You are either gay or you aren’t there’s no forcing or teaching involved. They are teaching one thing and one thing only tolerance. Something you obviously know nothing about. It should be normalized just because you personally hate something doesn’t make it abnormal. Gay people are normal bigots like you who walk around hating and judging people are abnormal. Most people live and let live only psychos walk around hating.
Dawn
I wish I could “like” this!!! This is exactly right! It boils down to biology and not something that is “taught”.
John
Not true, it can definitely taught.
Bob
Wow, pretty hate filled comments toward someone who disagrees with you. This defeats the point you are trying to make…
Mike
Richard, you’re right;this is the norm now. It doesn’t mean that everyone that isn’t interested in seeing or having their children see same sex stuff are abnormal or “the problem”. All that it really means is that they don’t want to have this forced on them or their children. It is a person’s choice and, some choose to disregard all of the messaging from the enlightened people and follow their own code of beliefs.
Noah Beam
No Richard you are a part of the problem that’s not true, they’ve done research after research on brain activity and brain scans, there’s nothing different from a gay person than Heterosexual person it’s preference it’s choice it’s not natural, their is nothing natural about it. it confuses young people. Here’s how we can fix everything let’s just not have kissing and sexual scenes in children’s movies.
Mary
The important thing to recognize here is that exposing children to homosexuality is not an innocent act. It is extremely harmful to the children, which is basically a form of child abuse, while they’re still developing their sexual preferences. Such harmful propaganda must be stopped by all means necessary.
Mary
Just because a small number of people are born with a fringe abnormality (like a stuttering) doesn’t make it “normal”. And the media now try to advertise it everywhere in an attempt to convert the marginal children to this abnormality.
John
PissOff
I’m gay and depressed. Cry about it.
Chris S Lightfoot
There has not been a Gene discovered that points to being homosexual or not.. it is a learned behavior for everyone straight or gay. not wrong or right either way but this is the facts as we have them today.
John
You got the science wrong. Some, not many, people have a tendency to become gay. The majority of these people, especially children, actually can choose to become either heterosexual or homosexual, and their choices can be influenced heavily by media exposure. It’s wrong to expose our children to a fringe lifestyle as “normal”. Homosexuality a fringe lifestyle (in marginal cases) and should be exposed as such.
Nikki
You keep using that word, marginal. I don’t think you know what that word means.
Chris
You can’t force queer on our young children! It’s pathetic that they keep trying too Force this stupid LGBQT agenda on our young children.
Bob
Gay is normal? Aside from being a very small portion of the total populace, homosexuals are rejected by evolution. They can’t naturally reproduce. Two gay men are the end of their gene pool. Same with two lesbian women.
Tiffany
Get real.
Ken
Just because you think it’s normal doesn’t make it that way. Putting that kind of displays of sexual nature should never be a children’s movie topic. When kids become adults then they can decide on their sexual needs. If Walt Disney was here he would have banned such movies. Forcing your sexual preferences on others is wrong. Be an adult and keep sex in the home where it belongs. It’s exactly where I keep mine and I never complain. Nobody’s business but mine what I do behind my closed front door.
Scott
Lol, scientific fact eh?
Edward
It’s NOT normal. No matter what anyone in your heathen camp says.
Scott
7 percent of America’s population identifies as LBGTQ. Please explain how 7 percent is a norm? Also, 7 percent meets the definition of a few, not many. I agree that the message is not subliminal. It is direct and intentional. So, you can deduce that a direct and intentional message pushing a lifestyle that is palatable to only a few and offensive to many woud result in very low attendance and ticket sales…it’s not rocket science.
Lightbringer
Please explain what purpose the scene served. The problem is not same sex the problem is forcing it into everything. There was no reason to have a kiss at all same or opposite sex. This is a forced narrative with out reason. That is the problem!
Bob
I couldn’t have said it better myself. Saw the movie on a cruise recently and there was no reason to add it to the movie other then to drive a narrative. It added nothing to the story and if I still had young children there is no reason to force this on them. I still don’t know why those in charge are crying foul like the public did something wrong. Go Woke Go Broke!
Jason
Normalizing homosexual behavior is dangerous. They are a miniscule portion of the population for a reason…it’s severely abnormal and unhealthy behavior. To normalize that in the eyes of children is catastrophic to our society.
Teeps
Well said
Dawn M
I agree wholeheartedly and will refuse to take my daughter to any movie that should be rated PG13 when same sex issues come up. I’m VERY disappointed in Disney
Mac
Hello…queer people have been marginalized, discredited and ignored while heterosexual relationships have been forced down our throats for years. Disney is helping to even things out.
Khadijah
Exactly, and I hope Disney and Pixar continue. Walt Disney Animation Studios is the largest in the world of its industry. They have the influence to begin the start of so much change.
Backcountry164
You literally just admitted that they’re forcing it down people’s throats. Your words…
Lightbringer
Even things out? There is a time and place to tell all stories and all stories should be told. But it is in every story they tell. We can not have entertainment free of ideologies. Is it to much to ask to have a movie especially one geared toward children where sex doesn’t have to addressed? Again it served no purpose and did not need to be there. Disney is not helping they are wearing people out. No matter your stance when it is shoved in your face all the time your going to naturally rebel. The forcing is begining to have a negative effect. I am glad there is a voice for all people but reason and understanding need to applied to the discussion not a force narrative.
Karen
I agree…..stop forcing this topic on little children
Dawn
LMAO, you allow your kids to watch T.V. and movies but you are against subliminal messages? That’s all advertising is, every single product placement in a movie or TV show. The same sex kiss is a normal part of peoples lives. No different than an opposite sex kiss.
Anonymous
On the contrary, it goes against scientific and religious beliefs. It’s different, Dawn.
Conner
Like it or not, it is normal. I look forward to the day when something like this will not be news and no one will care. You only have a reason to complain if you are against all kissing.
Perhaps you should propose banning all kissing and public shows of affection? You know, like they have in Muslim countries? Better yet, go live there. Then you won’t have to watch that disgusting kissing and we won’t have to experience your bigotry.
John
Connor,
LGBTQ+ exists but it doesn’t mean it’s not abnormal (ie, unnatural and anatomically inappropriate). Hence it must not be falsely advertised or encouraged as normal behavior.
Alicat67
Are you also offended by hetero kissing? Or by people of color kissing? Are only white hetero people allowed to kiss?
Floyd
Queer is normal jackass…. As long as humans have existed, there have been straight and queer people. It’s perfectly normal. Your just a bigot. That’s the problem.
Anonymous
On the contrary, as long as two genders exist, what is normal is what’s necessary to reproduce.
Saying “it always existed” doesn’t make it right, nor does it make it normal. Repent of your false thought.
Tony
Quit blaming the Fans for your failure. Just
make a better movie!
Michelle
Homosexualiy is in every town, every city of every county of every state of every country on the planet. It’s been part of humanity since the dawn of time. You have been brainwashed.
Anonymous
Read my response to Floyd above. Just because something has existed for a long time, does not make it normal, neither does it make it right.
CassiTheQueerQueen
To use your own beliefs, are you saying you know the mind of god?
Because your own religion says that god made every single person, and he doesn’t make mistakes, which means god made gay people. But you say being gay is a sin.
So which is it? Was god wrong? Or is being gay okay? Since you know better than god and all that.
CassiTheQueerQueen
It’s not upsetting “Everyone”. It’s upsetting bigots who want to pretend “Everyone” means Cis-gendered Heterosexual people.
I know for a fact that there are queer children who are learning that they aren’t weird or wrong for liking people of the same sex/gender as they are because of movies like this. There will be kids who will be able to have characters they can look up to in media because they’re like them.
Queer kids exist, even if you don’t or won’t admit it. And it’s only going to become more common from here, so you’d best get used to it.
G
Thank you! Great review and I appreciate your words.
Gary
Conner
Yeah, if we normalize sex between people of the same sex it will lead to sex with animals just like allowing two people of the same race to marry will lead to marriage with animals.
That is how stupid your ugly bigotry is.
John
You’re the stupid one. What’d stop an LGBTQ to take the next step from having unnatural sex with another of the same sex to animals?
Omne47
What would stop a straight person?
John
A straight person has already avoided unnatural act of sex of people of the same sex. A homosexual is doing something unnatural and against his biological makeup. A plate is not designed biologically to hold soup so don’t use it to hold soup. Just like humans are not designed biologically to have sex with animals or corpses so don’t allow the small minority of freakish people to do so.
Judy
This is the funniest comment yet. A plate does not have biology.
CassiTheQueerQueen
So you know better than god, then?
I mean, after all, it says in the bible that god made everyone, which means he made gay people. Which means either god made a mistake by accidentally making gay people, or he purposefully made them gay, which means god loves gay people and is okay with them.
So which is it? Since you know better than god, you should tell us.
RealityCzech
Homosexuality is not normal human sexual behavior in any way. Two humans of the same sex cannot reproduce naturally and propagate the species. All mammals operate this way.
So according to science, homosexuals are abnormal to natural law. They can live how they want to. But stop acting as if it’s normal, and never will be accepted innately by hetero humans because of the abnormality of said behavior is contrary to how mammals reproduction instinct is programmed into their DNA.
Omne47
Feel free to explain why same sex pairings occur in every mammalian species. Are they all watching Disney movies too?
John
Just because a few exceptions always occur in every species does not mean it’s normal.
CassiTheQueerQueen
That’s literally the definition of normal. Consisten occurrence among disparate groups is a pattern, not a coincedence. You’re not only a bigot, but an idiot.
Bret
It’s a kids movie . Not adult movie. Why does there need kissing in it at all. Why do you need to sexual things with kids? Is the point.
Omne47
So kissing on TV or in commercials. Got it.
Lane
Did you complain about the kissing in just about EVERY OTHER Disney movie? Don’t pretend you’re outraged by the kiss, rather than the fact it’s between two women.
A1
Movie is gay AF move on any movies represebting gay scenes should be erased from existence
Don
In regards to the idea that the same sex kiss was geared toward children is 50% incorrect. The film is aimed at the fan base of the film franchise that began 28 years ago. 10 year olds wont care. 38 year olds (10 when Toy Story came out) are the ones freaking out.
Lee
Lee
*Toy Story franchise, not fantasy. Stupid autocorrect.
Joel
Outrage? I’m certainly not outraged. I just refuse to spend my money showing my children something that is beyond their years. And romance between people of the same sex is something that is.
Given the revenue numbers, I’d say many others agree.
Khadijah
Then, romance between people of the opposite sex should also be beyond your kids’ years. Not to mention, many Disney movies have violence. But that’s probably okay, huh?
Steve
The only reason you want this crap in kid’s movies is to normalize it. You don’t even try to hide that so give up the act. It is propaganda, plain and simple. The movie failed for being propaganda and so will the rest of it.
Khadijah
If heterosexuality isn’t propaganda, neither is homosexuality. You’re prejudiced. Give up the act. Also, you never answer the question about violence.
Steve
Some day you will have to learn that saying something doesn’t make it true. But you are right I dislike you and your ilk. Do what you want in private, but forcing it on kids is unacceptable, especially when it is hidden from parents.
As for violence? I think it is great children learn that sometimes, it is necessary to fight for what is right. Don’t even pretend to disagree when nearly everyone sharing your political position has a Ukrainian flag in their Twitter bio.
Khadijah
If heterosexual relationships, which are present in 99% of media, aren’t forcing anything on kids, neither are homosexual relationships. You want it hidden because you are hateful. End of story.so, violence is acceptable to you, but love isn’t. Enough said.
Nikki
I don’t see how it’s wrong to support Ukraine.
Maclyn
What’s wrong with normalizing it?
John
Wrong because you’d influence the marginal kids to become homosexual. Answer honestly : if it were your own kid, do you wish him/her to become LGBTQ?
Khadijah
I wish my child to be comfortable being herself around me. If she is homosexual, so be it. Also, if heterosexual couples don’t make kids straight, homosexual couples don’t make kids gay.
John
Since you have a choice, do you honestly want to actively expose your kids so that they become homo? Science has shown that exposure can increase the chance a person can becomes homo.
Khadijah
Exposure to homosexual couples will not alter a child’s sexuality. Were that the case, homosexual people would be heterosexual because of the immense exposure to heterosexual people and couples. That’s not how it works.
Anyway, so long as the media is rated for my child’s age and contains nothing graphic (a kiss is certainly not), she’s free to watch what interests her. And if she is homosexual, she will be no less loved and accepted than she is now.
Omne47
Got a cite to the peer reviewed research paper on that Sport?
TT Engg
Geez you spout science but are so confused. There is no homosexual couple who can have kids.
Omne47
Wouldn’t bother me.
Skip
Wow! So all of U screaming about it being forced on U and the children, all of U must be gay now bcuz of all of that dressing up in women’s clothes and kissing men that Bugs Bunny did during sooooo many episodes. If THAT’S how it works then keep flying your gay flags proudly.
Conner
People like me didn’t watch it because we don’t like toys and spinoffs that ignore the original work. I don’t support Disney Star Wars for the same reason.
Children aren’t going to be harmed by a blink and you’ll miss it kiss. But they will be harmed by your hatred of other human beings just because they were born a little different.
Amazing that someone could get offended by an expression of love.
You really should move to a Muslim nation, where public affection is illegal.
Tiffany
Agree!
Jino Capone
I agree
Jino Capone
If heterosexuals can’t force them to be why force us !?! It’s being forced on us almost every show now while they have their own networks that you can push this agenda on stop promoting sexuality on our children !
Khadijah
Heterosexuality is in over 99% of media. There is a children’s film about an insect being married to a human. Nothing is being forced on you. You are prejudiced and don’t want to admit it.
Steve
The modern LGBTP+ movement: can’t tell the difference between a bee and a human getting married in a cartoon and promoting unhealthy lifestyles to children.
Maybe if we had record numbers of children claiming they want to marry bees, I would be concerned.
Khadijah
Your logic makes no sense. Lightyear is also a cartoon. A kiss of a same-sex couple isn’t “promoting an unhealthy lifestyle” any more the show of a heterosexual couple is.
Steve
Except that one is an unhealthy lifestyle and the other isn’t.
Khadijah
Neither is an unhealthy lifestyle. So long as both people of the couple consent and are happy, there is nothing unhealthy about a same-sex relationship or an opposite-sex relationship.
Fawk you
Clearly you have the I’m special and will always be a victim mentality
Steve
I don’t like the smell of truck stop toilets, but that doesn’t make me stinkophobic.
Khadijah
We are comparing people to objects now. Not surprised.
Taca8844
Heterosexuality is how you and everyone else in this post was created and wouldn’t exist without a man and woman. So I think it’s safe to say what’s “normal”!!!! Your preference is your preference everyone will not agree with how you want to live your life. However, I think it’s awesome that people are able to express themselves. It’s when that narrative is being forced people have concerns with.
Khadijah
99% of media features heterosexual people and couples, but you certainly don’t consider that forced. Also, not all heterosexual people want to have children (and some homosexual people want to be parents).
Tiffany
Bottom line though, heterosexual or homosexual parents. It IS the parents choice of whether or not they allow their children to see any movie or TV show for any reason. Whatever your pov, this is a fact. Until children are going to the movies alone and making their own decisions about what they see, Movies that have scenes anyone views as inappropriate for their child won’t be patronized. Not a hard concept. It doesn’t matter if they keep making movies and continue on the path. Parents will choose based on how they feel or don’t feel comfortable with the films.
Kina
Wow you really must be a big closet case lol. You constantly talk about homosexuals forcing themselves on you. Is your lil fantasy? More proof that the biggest, most whiny bigots are always the biggest self loathing closeted gay people. LOL
Buck
My problem with it is that it was Andy’s favorite film in 1995 and same sex marriage was not legal. So it should have been never made much less edited out and put back in a 1995 movie!!!
Rob
I like how this article is driven to one point r two of why it sucked. It wasn’t bad if you had no expectations. They spent more time on being progressive then a good movie needed for his origin story. That was not his origin story at all. There were too many good movies out like Top Gun which had it all. Light year should’ve been on the same page. It had a weak story, lil action, weak characters and twist. It wasn’t only unnecessary kiss n lesbian character it was a disregard for the actual fans.
Jordan
Go woke, go broke. Disney’s constant attempts to normalize something at its very core isn’t normal. This caters to maybe 3%-5% of the population. Given the success of Top Gun Maverick, it’s clear that the majority are Christian, America loving Patriots, who are tired of being force-fed an ideology that they simply don’t believe in. By trying to be “inclusive”, they’ve successfully become exclusive. There are lines drawn here and Disney is basically imploding in on itself. Sorry, Walt, it had a good run.
Khadijah
You’re not being “force-fed” anything. Homosexual people exist and are normal. They are not an ideology.
Kasey
You’re clearly not getting it, homosexuality Does Not Belong In A Kid’s Movie! Disney trying to indoctrinate children has caused them to lose tons of fans. To pander to a minority of viewership is an ingredient to failure.
Khadijah
Black people are also a minority. Thank goodness Disney disagree black people aren’t appropriate for children. If opposite sex couples belong in a children’s film, so do same-sex couples. The literal difference is gender. Nothing more.
Jordan
Khadijah
Thanks for the reminder of why I’m agnostic.
Anyway, I assumed nothing about your skin. I said black people are also a minority since your argument was homosexual couples shouldn’t be shown because they are a minority. If homosexual couples are inappropriate for children, so are heterosexual couples.
nemuksiKareY
Omne47
Lying doesn’t help the conversation along.
Andrew
Jerry
Khadijah
A two second scene of a kiss is not “pushing an agenda”. Meanwhile, there’s a kids’ film about a marriage between a bee and human. Agenda. Sure.
Steve
Disney executives are on record saying they are pushing an agenda. Get a new defense.
Khadijah
That is entirely false and never happened. You could try, at the very least.
Steve
Stop trying to gaslight everyone with your ridiculous lies. Anyine here can look up Reimagining Tomorrow and watch.
Z
Khadijah, this very website covered the story a few months ago. Disney is on record making a statement that they were making a commitment to making films with 50% of the cast being minorities. (Minorities to include alternative lifestyles) So yes…it is entirely true, and most definitely happened.
Ryder
Khadijah
In other words, they’re trying to not have an all-white cast. Why is this a problem?
Khir
It’s almost as if you simply want to argue.
mike
I also watched those leaked videos. So, your saying don’t believe my own eyes & ears? What are you a Democrat LOL ! Cut back on the Disney Kool Aide it’s warping your outlook !
mike
Jeezaloo, Khadijah you’re all over this comment section for days. Don’t you have a job or family or something else to do? Time to hold up the old mirror and look at yourself. All that anger and rage isn’t good for your digestive system.
Khadijah
Mike, you want to check the dates. My comments are all from last night and today. Two days. Wow.
Yes, I have a job, but I don’t work on weekends. My partner is at work, and our niece is with her godparents instead of us this weekend.
I’m not angry. I’m amused, to say the least. Might want to give that lecture to people who are exploding over a tiny kiss scene.
Maestro
Agreed Mike. Khadijah seems to think all this bullying those with a different opinion will accomplish something. Maybe take a deep breath and focus on something real instead of getting hysterical with a bunch of strangers on the internet.
J
Totally agree Jerry. Make good stories period. Stop trying to just cobble something together out of talking points. People didn’t want the questionable content, the makers of the movie doubled down and said they would keep it in. Consumers spoke with their wallets, stayed home and the movie bombed. Pretty simple.
SLR
Mark
Woke now equals Broke.
Jordan
Why push sexuality on children gay or straight. It’s inappropriate and should be illegal. Disney is allowing a few weirdo freaks claiming diversity to inject propaganda in to children’s films. I hope and pray Disney plunders and will laugh when they have to start selling franchises to stay viable.
Khadijah
Every single Disney film that features romance features a heterosexual couple. I’m certain you weren’t complaining about “propaganda” then.
Steve
Normalcy isn’t propaganda. Trying to change what is normal using your control over media is propaganda.
Khadijah
Homosexuality is normal. Being a minority does not make one abnormal. The same was said about black people less than a century ago.
John
Khadijah,
You’re confusing “minority” with “abnormal”.
Jeffrey Jordan
The reason it failed was because it was geared to the kids who grew up on The toy story franchise, who are now adults, their children now either have no clue about the character or just not interested, and adults aren’t going to see a animated movie without the children
Khadijah
The only reasonable comment in this thread. Thank you.
Jaime
That is true. Since I don’t have kids and I want to watch. I just wait till it gets on Disney plus.
Alita
Jeffrey, that didn’t hamper the numbers for Toy Story 4. No, it was pretty simple. After all the bad press about it, people didn’t want the alternative lifestyle content and wouldn’t spend the money to go. We’ll see how many of these box office failures it takes for Disney to get the point. Hopefully not many. I miss good story-telling. I don’t have any interest in spending what it takes to go to the movies to see something that is just a thinly veiled vehicle for an agenda.
Redfield
I’m not going to criticize the movie here because I haven’t seen it, but he’s not doing himself any favors by comparing it to the hobbit trilogy.
Cal
While it might not have been a big scene or shoved down your throat the fact that there was even any same sex kissing or references is enough for me to not want to see it. Not to mention letting my own child watch it. The problem is letting things like this become normal which is exactly what they’re trying to do. With enough of this even in small amounts being put in front of our eyes the intent is if they do it long enough we will eventually be so desensitized we will call it normal.
Khadijah
It is normal. Also, most Disney films contain large amounts of violence (especially pre-2000s films), and every Disney film with romance features a heterosexual couple, no matter how absurd. There is a children’s film about the marriage of a bee and a human (not by Disney). I certainly hope your child does not adopt your prejudice.
JellyCat
Khadijah,
Does not matter how many times you say homosexuality is normal, it is not.
Khadijah
No matter how many times you say it’s abnormal, it isn’t.
The purpose of sex is enjoyment, although reproduction can be the purpose for a couple that wants children (fun fact: not everyone wants kids).
“I have friends that are lesbians.” Ah, one of the classic defenses. And here I thought that one finally died.
Omne47
I see, so according to you if either person in a heterosexual marriage is unable to have children, i.e. sterile, having sex is unnatural.
Alrighty then…..
Skip
So U must be gay now bcuz of all of that dressing up in women’s clothes and kissing men that Bugs Bunny did during sooooo many episodes right? Oh wait U must THINK U are straight bcuz Bugs Bunny dressed in drag and kissed men so many more times than they did on Buzz Lightyear. SMH
Tobalaz
When Lightyear was first announced I was thrilled and couldn’t wait to see it. Then it was announced Tim wouldn’t be Buzz.
Tim Allen is Buzz. Without him, I had no further interest.
And dear God, anyone else have ads pop up over the box while you’re typing every 15 seconds? It’s annoying as h*ll and makes me want to NOT come back to the page.
AB
Go ahead. Bash your fans — that will make them go see your movie.
NOT!
Redfield
Haha, my thoughts exactly. 😂
TalksTooMuch
Didn’t like the fact that the Evil guy was just him from the future. Why couldn’t they just make him his father like in Toy Story 2? Seriously, the problem now a day with Pixar films is the twists they try to pull. Why can’t it ever be a simple this is the villain? There is no backstory or crazy twist. Why I enjoyed Luca and Encanto so much was it gave a break to the twist villain thing. I have more thoughts on the film but that’s really my main complaint
Steve
A pathetic wokester used to failing upward.
Ryan
I like a high percentage of any movie that I watch. I paid to watch both Lightyear and Minions. While I liked both movies, I can honestly say that I identify more with the Minions characters than any single character in Lightyear.
Feckliberals
Wow his pathetic behavior is sadly expected.
Theo
Khadijah
Oh, great. In addition to homophobia, we have racism too. Lovely.
Khadijah
Oh, great. In addition to homophobia, we have racism too. Lovely.
Steve
Is Twitter down or something?
Tobalaz
Apparently. Or they’re a paid Disney shill.
RJ
It was just a bad movie.
Cody
If its based on the man then you would still need the voice of tim. The toy would be given the voice of the man.I dont care to see it, i feel it is just unessary filler.
Khadijah
Found a clip of the kiss. My first thought: “That’s it?”
This is what people are losing their minds about? Y’all are absolutely bored in your lives.
Kathy
Listen, it is not normal for same sex couples nor pride month. We are talking a very small percentage of the population. Children do not have to miss a movie because of objectionable parts. Children will not be taught in school if parents object to the unnecessary curriculum. Get over your sudden need to force your lifestyle. Pro abortion groups cry privacy. I want it here too!!
Khadijah
If the presence of heterosexual couples isn’t forcing a lifestyle, neither is the presence of homosexual couples.
Skip
Wow, Bugs Bunny dressing up in women’s clotheing and kissing all of those men must of turned U gay. Or did U conveniently skip over all of those episodes all of those years it was on?
Andrew
Brandon
Bobby
We saw it with our daughter. The film was entertaining. However, it just seemed like any other Pixar/Disney movie released in the last 3-4 years. They are all getting predictable. The marvel movies are in the same direction. Your formula is old when I can predict when to use the bathroom and not miss anything important. Does it deserve the bad rap that it’s getting…. No. But it doesn’t push any new territory for Pixar/Disney. I’m the end, wait till it hits Disney Plus.
Your opinion maybe different… And that’s okay.
Alexia
Andrew
And you Alexia are the first voice of reason why the film did not fair well and not due to a .04 sec scene. This is the exact thought. I would not have rushed to see it if I were not an AMC member and pay $22 a month. I would have waited for a cheaper medium especially when everyone is budgeting now. I feel badly that you have to pay $60 to the movies! I hope everyone reads your comment.
Khadijah
Yes, the comments with valid criticisms are good.
I didn’t particularly care for the film either. My boyfriend wanted to see it, so I went with him. He enjoyed and I thought it was good, but not really something I care to rewatch. I think this is part of their trend for origin stories.
Brandon
A Townsend
Saw the movie with my family, did not enjoy it. It was way to slow moving and boring to be quite honest. 3 of my 4 children (ages 10, 8, 6 and 5) fell asleep during the movie. It was the most expensive nap they have ever had! I do not recommend it to anyone who asks me about. We were very disappointed.
Carla
My child ask to leave. Bored as well.
K
Personally, I didn’t ask for an origin story or prequel to Toy Story. I thought it should have stopped after Toy Story 3. I didn’t care for the kiss or no Tim Allen but that wasn’t my sole reason for not watching. It’s a movie I didn’t ask for and I didn’t want to watch in general.
mike
Of course you don’t get it Angus, you Hollywood elite types rarely ever do get what we regular everyday peons enjoy or what we find disheartening or disagreeable.
Patrick
Yall sound like your saying that kids knowing gay people exist is a bad thing qnd the existence of homosexuality is a thing kids should only know about when there 14. A gay kiss in a movie isnt telling your kid to be gay. This the real world not a ninny factory where u can go live in your fantasy of how Americans or the world should be. This world belongs to everyone and everyone should be celebrated. There not telling your kids to be anything. There are many places and people who actually force stuff on your kids. Love is not propaganda
Mary
Science has shown that gay kisses and other exposures can push your children, especially the borderline ones, in the direction of homosexuality.
Khadijah
Were this true, homosexual people would become straight from the massive exposure to heterosexual couples and people. It doesn’t work that way.
John
It does work that way. How do you that some homosexuals didn’t become straight after exposures to heterosexual examples? If you keep exposing gullible kids to sex with animals, you can bet that some of them will think it’s normal and start to do it too.
Omne47
You really seem to think a lot about sex with animals based on your comments.
Brandon
Yeah, explain why 40% of gen z is identifying as LGBTLMNOP? It’s all about optics and what is “cool” and “in”. You don’t have a 400% increase in transgender children unless the kids are being influenced by something.
Debbie
I was very disappointed with this movie as a grandmother taking a granddaughter. It actually was too confusing for children and even worse was the same sex relationship through out the movie. These young children do not need to be exposed to this life style here because they can be exposed to this at their parents’ discretion! Overall bad movie!!
Khadijah
You sound like you didn’t watch the movie. The kiss scene is two seconds at most. It was never present throughout the film. You are lying.
Steve
I get it, you can’t stand people have opinions that aren’t being censored. Real opinions of real people are scary.
Khadijah
Homosexual people are real people, and this is rich coming from someone who is offended by a 2-second kiss. You can’t stand people who are different from you being given equal treatment.
Steve
Every single one of you weirdos falls back on the argument that it exists, so it must be shoved in everyone’s faces. No one cares you exist. Get over yourself.
Khadijah
At least, you finally put your hate in the open and stopped beating around the bush. But again, the irony.
Thankfully, many people do care about the existence of people who are LGBTQ+. You get over yourself and your bigotry.
A brief kiss is not shoving anything in anyone’s faces. But perhaps the 99% presence of heterosexual couples and people in media is, if we’re really going with that argument.
John
Mary
The important thing to recognize here is that exposing children to homosexuality is not an innocent act. It is extremely harmful to the children, which is basically a form of child abuse, while they’re still developing their sexual preferences. Such harmful propaganda must be stopped by all means necessary.
Kokapeli
Agreed!

So U must be gay now bcuz of all of that dressing up in women’s clothes and kissing men that Bugs Bunny did during sooooo many episodes right?
John
What about the kids on the borderline between heterosexual and homosexual who would become homosexual if overexposed to it? What if that is your kid; would you still want to expose him and take a chance?
Khadijah
If my child is homosexual, so be it. My child’s sexual orientation is not of importance to me. I do hope she feels comfortable and confident in telling me and introducing me to any partners the same as if she were heterosexual.
If she likes a show where a homosexual couple is present, so long as everything else is appropriate (G or PG rating, no graphic violence), she’s welcome to watch it.
Exposure to homosexuality doesn’t alter a straight person’s orientation any more than exposure to heterosexuality alters a gay person’s orientation.
Skip
So watching Bugs Bunny dressing up in drag and kissing all of those men made U the way U are. Gay right?
Omne47
And the peer reviewed research showing that was published in what journal?
John
There’s lots of data if you’d like to search online.
More importantly, use COMMON SENSE. Children are impressionable. If we keep marketing to them something abnormal as normal (ie, common-sensically, a man is not naturally, biologically, anatomically, hormonally, reproductively built to have sex with another man), many of them will believe it and screw up their life.
Brandon
Oh no, so a child growing up in a gay household with two dads or two moms being 70% more likely to be gay is normal? Hmm, the fact that Gen z identifies at 40% lgbtlmnopqrs, up from like less that 5% is normal? If you brainwash someone long enough they think whatever you want them to be. And right now it’s “trendy” to be LGBT mafia. Oh and it’s not a choice to be gay, etc but what is gender fluid?
John
Thanks for the data, Brandon. Wow, I didn’t know LGBTQ propaganda is already creating so much damage to our children. We must no longer keep quiet and let these predators harm our children any further.
Joseph
It wasn’t that good of a film. It was okay. Just okay. Pixar films should not be just okay. Also when Disney hypes up a gay kiss to absurdist levels, you are going to get backlash. It was peck which is fine but every article about it hyped it like it was a full out sex scene. Disney has no one to blame but themselves
Khadijah
Disney didn’t hype it up. Media did.
Kokapeli
The push to sexualize children through media/public education is apparent and disgusting. My very very large family and pretty much everyone I know is done with this garbage. Make something political and sexual (especially a kids show) and you will not get a dollar from me. Tell the damn story and keep your political ideologies out!

Your fake cut and paste comments are starting to reply to themselves. I think your bot broke.
John
Your labeling people doesn’t make your argument correct. By trying blindly to be PC, the media is harming our children by lying to them that LGBTQ is normal/common/mainstream, thereby encouraging them to adopt this fringe lifestyle. In some cases, people become homosexual because of their strongly predisposed genes. In many cases, the genes are weak and people can become either heterosexual and homosexual, depending on their exposure to either lifestyle.
Brandon
I agreewith you mostly but I’ll add almost every gay person I’ve spoken with has had some sort of trauma which affected them dramatically. Either they were molested, abused, one parent left or both parents were gone. And it’s not even close, like 90% of gays. It’s also not surprising that if a child grows up in a gay home with two dads or moms they have a 70% higher chance on being gay. Nature vs nurture, I don’t think so. It’s NOT normal and it’s a tiny fraction of the population but if you watch TV you’d think that 50% of the population was gay.
Jamie
I refuse to watch the movie or let my child watch it when they are promoting homosexuality. If people want to live that lifestyle that’s up to them but I do not support it nor do I want it crammed down my child’s throat. It’s completely unnecessary in a Disney film.
Skip
Wow! So all of U screaming about it being forced on U and the children, all of U must be gay now bcuz of all of that dressing up in women’s clothes and kissing men that Bugs Bunny did during sooooo many episodes. If THAT’S how it works then keep flying your gay flags proudly.
Brandon
No, the fact that gays went from 5% of the population to 40% would say otherwise. Gen z identifies as 40% LGBT mafia. The programming has worked and gay and trans is trendy. And bugs bunny never did that in many episodes, get over yourself as you say that everywhere and it makes no sense. So kids will dress up in the opposite semester clothes and some boys with play with Barbies but most will grow out of it. Others will have their parents force hormone blockers on them sadly.
David
John Smith
This is a very simple issue. Heteros can go to movies they like and LGBTQ’s can go to movies they like.
Brandon
I think that’s a great idea and then in the next two years the gays will be bankrupt and heteros will rule again. Man, I’ve never been more behind an idea than this in my life. It’s awesome! Let’s see how many movies can get off the ground without “heteros” support. Lol
al john
…stop complaining, and make quality pictures. I call these microwave movies. Not much goes into them, just push of button to complete. It’s really sad, clear reflection of our times.
David
Lightyear was an abuse towards children. Expressing the lesbian couple and their kiss is not to be aimed at a child audience. Disney should be ashamed. The founder would hate this garbage.
Skip
So U must be gay now bcuz of all of that dressing up in women’s clothes and kissing men that Bugs Bunny did during sooooo many episodes right?
Mary
It was shown as a joke and not something for kids to emulate, idiot!!!
Also, if a kid is strongly predisposed to be gay, then gay exposure won’t change him. But if a kid is near the middle, gay exposure could push him over the edge.
Some tiny group of people may or may be inclined to have sex with their dogs, but it doesn’t mean the media should normalize and encourage that with gullible kids in the name of love or equality or whatever BS reasons they make up.
Steve
Have you heard of furries?
Omne47
You mean the made up story about schools accomodating kids with litter boxes? Bruce Bostelman already apologized for claiming it to exist when it didn’t.
Brandon
Copying and pasting the same comment does not make it right. Bugs bunny cross dressed in about 30 to 40 cartoons out of thousands so it wasn’t that much. And it was always done with the attempt to get over on the other character. Kids grow out of dressing up as the opposite gender. And explain how gays have shot from less than 5% of the population to up to 40%
Sam
As long as Disney, Pixar and marvel keep cramming their political and social agenda, I’ll choose to boycott them. No outrage, just my choice.
Connor
Maybe if he had given fans what they wanted they would have watched your crummy movie. For a start, keeping Tim Allen might have been a good idea. Also, did he really expect parents to be happy with their young kids being subjected to gay toys. May be it’s up to parents to teach their kids about the birds and the bees l, homosexuality, etc etc, when they feel it’s appropriate. It’s not Pixar’s or Disney’s responsibility or business. Period.
PJ
Re release with Tim Allen voicing Buzz as should have been and I will gladly buy ticket and go see !! Would also give Disney an ironic op 2 make double Bubble !! Bit like a directors edition, but an anti-directors edition !
PJ

Tom
While I typically don’t see the big deal with a kiss I never remember kissing happening in any films for children when I was younger unless it added to the story. It is kind of unusual how they are showing this now.
KarenS
Its just a movie. Disney is not what it was when i was growing up. (70’s and 80’s)
Has the director ever sat back and thought that the economy sucks and ppl dont have money for entertainment?
I’ve had to stop buying things that are needed for my craft. I just no longer had the extea income.
Any thing sexually definitely has no place in a movie geared towarde kids.
Wiggz
I’m sure he thought that at first… the the very next weekend Minions buried Lightyear. People are still spending money on things that are worth spending money on.
Wiggz
People aren’t outraged, they’re just over it. So, so very over it. Look for a disappointing performance from Thor for the exact same reasons.
Tobalaz
Gary
Finn
the movie was kind of boring.
John
If your kid is already gay, then accept and love him. But don’t encourage other kids to also become gay.
Nikki
But encourage them to be straight? Why?
John
For the same reason you don’t encourage your kids to have sex with animals, with corpses, with babies …. It’s not normal (ie, not natural and against the practice of the vast majority of people) and it’s wrong!
Omne47
Ok, you are not only obsessed with sex with animals, now it’s necrophilia.
Seek help.
Chris
A good film, yeah shame Tim Allen didn’t do the voice but it’s different type of thing! Buzz isn’t crazy enough for Tim 😂 it’s a good film!! Thoroughly enjoyed it and will watch again
Razz
Well, at least there should be plenty of empty seats in the theater for you to choose from when you go back to see it again. (wink)
Jessie
Disney needs to stick to its original movie making, they are going to loose alot more fans going this route with their movies. Do they really need to show affection at all ? its a kids movie kids don’t think about that so why put it ? It just made things worse, im glad I herd about it because I didn’t know about the scene and I was going to take my son to see it but then I saw they tired to sneak that in the movie without knowledge? I didn’t take my son to see it after that. That’s getting to close to my parental rights. Parents have a right to know what’s in any movie their kid watches not anyone else’s decision!
Scott
Lol, poor little Angus. Just keep telling yourself that. Keep on refusing to see and hear what the vast majority of moviegoers are telling you through low ticket sales and attendance. By all means, keep making movies, keep trying to be ‘cool, woke and progressive’, and definitely keep pandering to the purchasing power of the minority. When your movies continue to be flops that very few want to see, you can grow old in obscurity trying to figure out why.
I care not. If you can’t see the nose on the end of your face, who am I to remind you that it’s there?
Righteous Troll
Get woke…
Kay
Yeah, Disney, here’s your clue. We want the magic back and do NOT want your political agenda rubbed in our faces.
CJ
Minions for the Win (it’s a better movie, in my opinion).
I’m disappointed by those Pixar – Disney films that deserved a theatrical release, only they got dumped onto Disney+ (Lightyear seemed like it actually was meant for Disney+, not theatrical).
Toy Story and it’s Characters have been sequeled too many times. The Buzz Lightyear cartoon TV Series (back in the day) was cool, but this Lightyear didn’t seem necessary.
Jason
Lets just hope he doesnt do a Gay cowboy Named Andy..Who saves The Alphabet People from broke back mountain..
Tyler Ryan
I saw it the week it came out I loved it it action adventure and awesome effects my favorite plot twist was that zurg was an aged buzz from a different timeline. Chris evens did a good job as buzz I think it’s a good thing they switched actors I love Tim Allen but this shows that anyone can be lightyear
Stephen
Mary
Sex withe another of the same sex is just as unnatural as sex with a dog or a horse or a corpse or young children. Our society is already so liberal that it’s accepting homosexuality (though not other devious forms of sex). Now some LGBTQ is pushing their luck by demanding to market it as normal and convert innocent children to their devious lifestyle. We must stop them before they destroy our future generation.
Omne47
It’s getting hard to keep all the sock puppets straight. Mary, John, Steve, etc.. The constant obsession with animal sex is pretty much a tip off.
Stephen
And just as unnatural as clothes and cars and hot dogs. Love is love – and there’s no point in trying to hide that from your kids.
John
You’re confusing love with sex. You love your same-sex friends, dogs, cats, neighbors, children … but you don’t have sex with them like LGBTQ+ (same-sex sex), do you?
Chris
Real funny you damn fruitcake!!!
kg
im guessing this article was mostly advertised on right wing spaces because good god. literally most people didnt go to this movie because the concept is redundant and didnt interest them. bigots get over yourselves challenge your hatefulness and stupidity makes me sick <3 thank you for standing up to these people though!! even if most will never learn :/

This is not a matter of “once you support it, go all in for it,”
Omne47
I had little interest in seeing the movie. The idea that the toy was based on some future version of Buzz sounded like it was going to be too convoluted to be interesting. It was an unnecessary movie that doesn’t fit in with the original movies.
Although I am glad that a simple kiss made a bunch of RWNJs heads explode.
Mark
Funny how Disney still just doesn’t get it.
Joe
Jon Hamm
Plain and simple, the movie was not good.
This is suppose to be a movie a young boy would see, have such a great time seeing it, be so excited after seeing that he would want a Buzz action figure, and that did not happen.
If anything Andy would want the cat, not Buzz.
Forget the political and personal issues, the movie did not live up to the expectations and did not sell anyone on Buzz being the next big action figure.
Carla
Nailed it! I second your comments. My son actually asked to leave 1/2 way through because he was bored.
Bob
The comment sections on this website is always cancerous.
Cory
Umm I was on his side until he said low ratings for the bloated Hobbit movies with their weird added romance were written by trolls…unless he meant the literal trolls from the story, I can’t trust this man’s judgement.
JB
We probably would have seen the movie if it hadn’t been for the meeting in which Disney execs said they’re planning on more LGBTQ content for kids. Also, they came out against the Florida Parental Rights in Education bill which has been very misrepresented. We just canceled Disney plus because my 8 year old son doesn’t need to learn about menstruation from Baymax. It’s not up to Disney, teachers, or anyone else to educate my children on sensitive issues. We just want some fun entertainment, but I’m not going to pay you to tell me how to raise my kids.
Josh
LGBTQ, and all the acronyms they add every new month is killing family oriented films. Should have stayed in their closets.
Marcy
I began my boycott of everything Disney a long time ago. I refuse to allow my child to be indoctrinated by someone else’s broken agenda covered in catchy music and colorful characters. Everything your child watches and listens to has a huge impact on them. It’s never JUST a movie.
Stephen
So why are you reading and posting on a Disney-related site?
Carla
My son and I went to see Lightyear and left before it was finished. The story just didn’t grab him, he was bored and wanted to leave. This movie just didn’t have the same “spark” as the Toy Story movies we grew to love. We did see Minions the following weekend… it grabbed his attention much better and we stayed until the very end!
Lindsey
It’s simple…
I want my children to be children. As a parent I don’t want to go to a theater, spend 50 dollars on a movie and entertainment to have to have a conversation about people kissing with my young child.
It’s my choice as to where my money is spent.
Lindsey
Lol what is a lint licker?
m
Because it’s buzz lightyear, not buzz lightqueer, you creepy groomer director. He should be investigated
Elizabeth
Chris
Just shut your a** up!!!
Karen Saph
I thought Lightyear was okay, except for the part where Buzz wakes up in the barracks and they try to slyly imply he had been sleeping with another male space cadet. Adults got the joke! Inappropriate!
Merv
Same can be said when MAGA are forcing Christianity’s belief and rules to the whole country. Imagine if u force sharia law to everybody?
Nathan Gibson
I personally thought that the same sex scenes in the movie we’re great and it’s ridiculous that people are getting this pressed about two ANIMATED CHARACTERS of the same gender being in a relationship. No kid is going to come out of Lightyear saying “I like girls/boys now!”. Grow up.
Nathan Gibson
Oops made a minor spelling mistake. Calling it out now before some nerd comes and says *were.
Chris
Shut your fruitcake a** up damn fairy!!
Jean
Haven’t seen the movie. Liked the toy story movies watching with my grandkids but I realize that gays in society is normal however I don’t want to have to watch it on the screen and I wouldn’t take my children or grandchildren to see it. I’m tired of getting politics and wokeness shoved in my face.
John
That’s where you and many parents are wrong. Gay is not normal. It is abnormal (unnatural & biologically inappropriate) and more importantly, harmful.
Rob
Simply uninterested in this story concept and so are my kids so we didn’t spend a ton of money to see it in the theater. Maybe once it is on Disney+
Louis
I guess when you cater a movie to please 20% of the population is doomed to fail. Also most parents are heterosexual and as I remember kids can’t pay for movies by themselves. So if a parent don’t want that for their kids you can’t force them. Their money, their choice…
I honestly don’t care about sexual preferences, but in more than 90% of movies PDAs bring no value to the story line so I’m ok with movies not displaying it whether it’s heterosexual or not. Those scenes can be insinuated but not displayed. It won’t change the story line.
John F
You are too “woke” when you can’t understand why someone would not want to watch a movie you are in or created because of the unnecessary woke things that you felt the need to put in the movie that do nothing to add to the story
Chris
Homosexuals and people without kids are the only people that think homosexuality is normal. We have to protect our kids from this crap. I don’t care if this movie was good enough to make you cry, the fact that they included abnormal crap (homosexuality) in this movie for kids makes one of the worst films of all time!!! Hopefully disney learns their lesson and don’t pull this crap again!!
Mary
Well said, Chris. LGBTQ exists as an abnormality (misapplying the human anatomy) and must never be wrongly presented & accepted as normal.
Chris
Shut your fruitcake a** up damn fairy!!
Colleen Hale
Why it failed. My kids (12-20) didn’t like the movie. “It was boring and long and pointless but the cat was funny.” Even my die hard Disney kid thought it was meh. That’s a huge age range to ignore. I think Disney knew how it was going to perform.
B
I saw ‘Lightyear’ & was very disappointed. I really missed Tim Allen’s voice.

I don’t get it. Disney removed the gay kiss because they thought it would bring outrage and dissent with it … and then they were surprised when they brought it back it that people were outraged and dissented ? If Disney and the director here didn’t want that … then why did they put it in the movie ? Choices people.

Exactly!

I kind of liked it. Was not boring. Gave you the story behind the toy. Not Bad. Better than the princess and the frog.

I am proud of the white nationalists destroying this filth

It wasn’t rocket science. People objected to the questionable content and stayed home. The movie tanked. Case closed.
Pat
Sorry, there is no scientific evidence that being gay is normal. It’s a choice you make for your lifestyle. If you can follow science, then you are the problem.
Kevin
“We only get 1-2 big science fiction movies a year. The supply is too low to get too upset about them.” Seriously? More like 1-2 a month these days. There are literally at least 6-8 comic book movies/year alone. This short sighted director, in defending his film, fails to see that the market is glutted with sci fi and people are becoming tired of the genre. These movies are not the event that they once were.

Not only the science says same-sex relationship is not normal but it also says so in the Bible

Matijoe
Not everyone is gay so they shouldn’t be surprised when not everyone likes it.
I liked it but I’m gay af.

David
Children are young, vulnerable, and easily influenced by what they see and hear.
Disney needs leave our children alone when it comes to sexuality and let them discover those aspects of life when they are able to properly process it and make their own determination whether it is right or wrong.
