We took and 4yo and 8yo grandsons to Disney World in Orlando, FL in 2021. Our 4 yo has Autism so we waited until the mask mandate was lifted. When that happened we booked. When we arrived we were told masks will be required on rides, in restaurants and in gift shops. Well that wasn’t going to happen with his sensory issues. We were prepared though. We brought his hat with attached face shield that he wore during the pandemic. Nope. No go. They wouldn’t allow or accept it. He HAD to wear a mask. Needless to say tickets were non refundable. For a company that is supposed to be well trained in Autism and sensory issues we were very disappointed. That will be our last visit to Disney parks.
Exactly! This! 100% I have friends with kids with same issues and they managed to wear masks because it was about how they approached it with their kids. I hate stories like this article because this has zero to do with Disney it’s about the passport office which sounds like she just didn’t request early enough so yeh….your lack of planning is not THEIR emergency!
You can’t blame Disney for this. It was probably posted on their website that masks were required indoors. Your lack of reading is not Disney’s fault. Just like this article. Passports are not issued by Disney. I have seen many children wearing masks that had “sensory issues.” Why your child is the exception is only because you made it that way. I successfully got a two year old to wear a mask and keep it on. What’s your excuse. Did you fail to set an example? If they see you doing it, they will do it too.
Don’t blame Disney for it.On their website you could have seen what the requirements were.Businesses set their own requirements and everyone has to follow the rules no matter if you agree with them or not.
Disney has always been strict about their mask rules. You have to follow them or can’t attend. It’s a global pandemic that was raging in 2021. Train the child to wear a real mask.
Naw. Don’t weaponize autism like this and be mad you can’t get a refund. Autistic people can and do wear masks. Sorry your grandson could not, but it is not a sensory issue for most of us.
That’s what I was thinking. She should of had the passport in hand before booking the trip. People don’t take responsibility any more. It’s always someone else’s fault. 🙄
You guys are company about a Fraekin Disney vacation and I have never been on a Disney vacation in my life it’s crazy to hear about I know how expensive it is because I play with the pricing on Disney World website so I know it’s my dream that will never come true but life will go on and my dreams will never go away. So stop company and get on with the rest of your life and be grateful 🙏 that you got to go anywhere.
Who f’ing cares, and why is this even on this site? It has nothing to do with Disney itself, other than that was their vacation destination. Really getting tired of the ridiculous stories you post, and especially how far down you have to scroll to get to the actual story. Just get to the damn point.

So, didn’t request it in time, but still want to blame others?
Sure.

You should have practiced having him wear a mask. People have to follow rules out in the real world. Don’t blame Disney for this.

This, 100%. You can introduce autistic children to masks, slowly, with practice. If he can learn to wear a face cover, he can learn to wear a mask.

Does Disney issue pass ports???? Am I missing something?? Who ordered the pass port?? Why did they wait so long?? Not Disney’s fault.

There has been plenty of news all over about passports taking longer than usual. Why book the trip unless you already have it?
Keisha
How about don’t book your vacation until you have your passport ? Don’t blame anyone else,it was your own stupidity.
