Was it listed in the website and on the app as to what the closing time was? I suspect it was, I also suspect that the park hours signs reflected the applicable times, as would the channels on the resort TVs. It is the guest’s responsibility to check these official sources before deciding to go or not, Disney shouldn’t have to post a big, giant sign when the park has different hours than normal.

Agreed. Nobody wants to take responsibility for their own lives these days. Everyone walks around acting like uptight gigantic babies. I’m sick of peoples attitudes lately.

Not everyone stays at one of the resorts also this everything being on their app, doing everything through your phone is ridiculous. Most people are there to spend time as a family not to spend time on your phone. Also older people like my husband, he’s almost 60 and isn’t good with technology… he couldn’t figure out how to book a ride let alone find the park hours.

        Wendi,

The old people are not good with technology excuse is no longer applicable. This excuse started with Y2K when your 60-year-old husband was in his late 30s. It is more of a choice to decide that you don’t want to learn any new technology. Both my parents are in their late 70s/early 80s and they get along just fine with technology because they realized that as technology changes, so should they.

Also, you probably typed your reply using a smartphone.

Number 1 the park should post hours of operation changes at the entrance not everyone is aware that you have to check website or app for this. I know most people nowadays look on internet for every thing. Some people don’t. I feel Disney should have signs of closing early at any park that doing this. Age isn’ta factorwithtechnology. It’sbeing courteous period..

What was listed on the app was an 8 pm early park closing. Nowhere did it say World Showcase would close at 6 pm. They left Future World attractions and shops open until 8 pm but not WS which closed at 6 pm.

It was actually posted months in advance. They made a public post, multiple platforms on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and news sites has posted about it. It was on the website as well. I have clients there now that knew a month in advance before they even made their park reservations.

To be honest, not everyone has Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram and sometimes on a smartphone, you have to be a member to view the pages. On Facebook, it always states you must log in first before you view a page (I deleted my Facebook account). This is why they should not just only post it only on social media and have it on the app as well as outside the gate.

Maybe they should also hire a Towne Crier to bellow out the news for those luddites who are still living in the 1700’s?

    4. You know, not everyone, especially older people, carry a phone glued to their hand! And for the prices you pay, Disney could do better about this!!

It was known on the app for weeks that EPCOT closed at 8pm. (The park also opened half an hour earlier that day.)

Also, France, UK, & Canada pavilions were open until 8pm like the front of the park.

Not true all of the concessions in France, England and Canada were not open after 6 pm. We tried to order drinks at all of them and the kiosks were closed.

As someone who goes to Disney for 2-1/2-3 weeks every winter, for the last 8yrs… that Disney has gone so far downhill it’s ridiculous. This year was the worst, between issues with our club level stay at the Beach Club … to Disney trying to Erroneously charge 10,000$ to our C.C 3 times causing the C.C. Company to shut our card down because they thought it had been stolen… then to getting a club level room at GF for the end of stay that reeked of mold, and being told they didn’t have any other rooms so there was nothing they could do… so I spent the last few days of our stay getting daily massages at the spa for migraines from the smell, then we get home March 20th…. The beginning of May we get an email that there is a 109.86$ charge that we owe Disney… anyone who has tried to call Disney knows you can be on the phone for many hours… we didn’t have time for that, so we were waiting for the weekend, then found out the number we needed to call… billing… wasn’t open on the weekends. So we got another email last week that was very nasty, which said if we didn’t pay.. we wouldn’t be allowed to stay at the parks again… and that they would seek legal action… WTH! We have spent huge money there, every year and you can’t call us instead you send nasty emails and we called them and they couldn’t really say where the charge came from or why we were just now getting this charge… but we paid it because we have a 10yr old that would have a fit if he missed his yearly vacation to Disney. (Our child had a stroke at birth and has some special needs and routine daily, weekly, even yearly is extremely important to him)

Wish I was rich enough to afford club level for 3 weeks!

    2. AH

They just did not want to do anything about the room. If I had been there, someone’s butt would have had my teeth marks in it until I got a healthy room.

We were there that day. Prior to going, the app sent us notifications on our devices with the revised hours of both the front and back of the park. Mitsukoshi, the Japan store, had a sign in front with it’s hours posted that included closing at 6pm that day. The only surprise we had was that we were not allowed into the Creations Shop at 7:53pm. We had wanted to look at the pride merch real quick. However we’re locals, so it wasn’t a big deal for us.

I also experienced this same frustration Sunday evening at Epcot. Arrived at the park at noon and saw no signs indicating early park closing at 6 pm for World Showcase. Suddenly found out when I tried to order a glass of wine in France and they told me they were closing early due to a Private Corporate Event. Nice Disney charges me for a full day yet gives me leas than a full days experience and double dips by generating revenue from a private rental at the same time I should be able to use my park pass and they don’t offer a prorate or the option of park hopping for another 3-hours. Disney operations are out of control. I won’t be going back anytime soon and I am a former castmember and very loyal guest.

      Good Use of Capitalization.

We were at Epcot yesterday. They closed at 9, that’s when the laser/fireworks started.

I was there once for New Year’s eve. I had to work (worked overnights) and got to the park (Magic Kingdom) late with my brother-in-law. They had already closed the park being at capacity. We went to the office and told them our family of 15 was already in the park. Once we proved they were there by calling them and having them go to a certain area, we were given free passes and let in.

Disney has taken the pandemic excuse and run with it. They will never again be fully staffed or allow people to go to a park without a reservation. I have spent my last dime there.

I was there this night and I see quite a few people saying those of us upset aren’t taking responsibility for not looking. I knew a month ago that the park closed at 8:00. Notice I say park meaning the whole area. I knew that I wanted to see Simple Plan it was my only reason for even going so the first thing I did was go to world showcase to look at the signage for the concerts. I passed by 6 different signs that all said the original showtimes. I even questioned how there was a concert at park close and no cast member had a reason when asked. No one informed me that the signs were wrong. I ended up missing the show as because there was not clear communication. Additionally I was told repeatedly that parts of world showcase were open from cm’s at the front of the park after the back half of the park cm’s not only told me they were closed but that even though it was not anywhere that world showcase was closing early we still should have known and gave an attitude. Meanwhile the cm’s working at that stand behind this one we’re passing drinks and food around to each other from the stand and laughing and ignoring everyone. No matter where you went it was conflicting information with whole areas saying they were closed and others saying they were not supposed to be. I’m not attached to my phone I missed the posts about the concerts being canceled online I SHOULD have been able tho to rely on the cm’s working and the signage. In my opinion the ball was dropped on this one.

  13. Jv

    That is for Epcot.

It’s complete crap that Disney is only “advertising” hours changes via the app and internet. It’s just another way Disney is trying to tether people to their phones to micromanage their crowds and staffing.
The guests are just money spewing drones for them in the parks.

  15. 2smarttobeDem

Bet the farm the band had something to do with gay month. They didn’t want people to not attend for the day so they were discreet about the closure knowing nobody checks the app until they are already dedicated to the park for the day. Just another example of politics over people. Eventually theyll see the bottom line and pull a Netflix. Disney sucks! Go Desantis!
