Worst decision ever! The Skywalker saga is so important to Star Wars fans across the World.
We can dive into the darkest period of the Empire & watch Vader slaughter so many victims.
Also we can be captivatized by a younger Yoda becoming a Grand Master Jedi of the high council.
Finally we can have a what if story from thus very same timeline..
Obviously the people who are in charge at Lucasfilm must not like $$$ or else they would be searching for such said stories or asking their audiences what would we like to see. Because I can guarantee to u one thing the last Trilogy was the worst in every Star Wars Fans eyes.
They can go old Republic, Darth Revan & Bastilla Shan. How about redo the sequel Trilogy with George Lucas?
Last thing they could cover the story in clone wars & make a standalone film the “Chosen 1” with the Father & his 2 children.
Have you forgotten about the multitude of content set prior to the timeline the Skywalker saga takes place in?
And redoing the Sequels, how would that work?
“Hey guys! We’re going to make some new Sequels to Star Wars, though it won’t be 10, 11, 12. It’ll be New 7, 8, and 9”. I’m sure that won’t be a subject of clashing continuities.
Who’s to say that those sequels would be an improvement over the current crop? If we allow Lucasfilm (and by extension Disney) to redo 7-9, what’s to say that they won’t be able to redo any other Star Wars movie? What precedent does that create?
It would be too late to redo them as Ford’s not interested; Fisher is dead; Hamill’s the only that would be interested but it won’t be the same
She should just say; “We’re moving away from the Skywalker Saga, now that I have defecated all over it; killed off your favorite characters, but hey now you have diversity and inclusion.”
People who care deeply about the next iteration of Star Wars. No sh Sherlock. That’s literally the problem. We’ve seen what the next iteration of Star Wars is and it’s garbage.
If they are moving away from “skywalker” fine, but at the very least GIve Reys story the Ending it needs.Rumors keep saying that its the “Old Republic” will be the next movie trilogy or Jump hundreds of years into the Future and do a “Generations” version with Brand new characters for a New Story line. The Star Wars Universe is massive and I don’t see why “both” can’t be done.
Then you don’t get Star Wars at all Rey Didn’t want to be like her Grandfather she wanted to be a Jedi like the Skywalkers so that’s why she took there last name at the end of the movie and to pass on the teachings of the Jedi to the next Generation if and when she wants to if you all go back and look at the end of the last movie and watch the little boy and see what he does with the broom before he starts to sweep the barn then you will start to maybe understand where they’re coming from with this and the next Generation
Believe me I’m along time Star Wars fan but when I found out about that I was kinda excited about it so the old guard is gone but not forgotten that’s what happens
Jesus does this writer work for Disney?? “But, after Rian Johnson’s divisive Star Wars: Episode VIII — The Last Jedi (2017), and JJ Abrams’s equally polarizing Star Wars: Episode IX — The Rise of Skywalker (2019), fans lost confidence in the franchise”
Here let me fix that copy for you:
“But, after Rian Johnson’s DISASTROUS Star Wars: Episode VIII — The Last Jedi (2017), and JJ Abrams’s equally CATASTROPHIC INSULT TO THE VERY CONCEPT OF STORYTELLING Star Wars: Episode IX — The Rise of Skywalker (2019), fans lost confidence in the franchise.
Star Wars has been on life support for a long time kept alive from the good will and warm memories from the original trilogy. It is time to pull the plug and move on.
Saying that a huge blockbuster movie (as the next Star Wars movie should be) to debut in theaters in a mere year and a half when a final script isn’t even written and not one frame of film shot yet is a tad over ambitious. More proof that Kennedy doesn’t know what she is doing and should be kept far far away from Star Wars.
The writer of the article and all the comments I’ve seen are all pretty much wrong about the success of the Sequels and the current and the future of Star Wars.
Y’all can all go cry about it. The rest of us are having the time of our lives!
