The old Fast Pass system wasn’t broken. It was very convenient to be able to plan out my trip months in advance. The best part of Disney World was the convenience, now that is gone and so am I. People will never stop going though so they don’t care about me and my family.
I completely agree. Not only have they basically made the cost to go rides up exponentially, but they combined it with the inconvenience of having to register for rides first thing in the morning the day of. This is no longer an enjoyable vacation, but a job. I’ve been there practically every year since they opened, and refuse to take my family back until they make it convienet or guests not themselves. Unfortunately when people get wind of the next set of changes to Genie+ that will be in full effect by the holiday season, the sourness level might go further into the stratosphere. Genie+ will soon be limited to a total of 3 selections per person per day. The option to purchase a la carte Lightning Lane will still be available while the daily supplies last, and they can be purchased in tandem. The 3 Genie+ allotment included those who have Park Hoppers, though the 3 selections can be used across all parks in that case.
Limited to 3 per day…meaning after the 3 have been used you cannot book anymore? Just curious if you have inside information on this? When you say full effect the holiday season-you talking xmas? It is frustrating b/c there is no information aside from after June 8th you will have to purchase day to day. So for those who have already purchased for entire trip ahead of time… will that actually have been a worse decision?
If crowds at Disneyland are set at 80% as I was told yesterday, 5/17/22, then I will not return! It was more like 120%!! Bring back Fast Pass & quit gouging the public that Walt wanted to entertain. I can not believe what it costs now& I am older & can afford it. So many can not afford even a one day trip.
I grew up with Disney World. I’ve been 100’s of times and bought DVC and APs. I now have ZERO desire to ever return. It’s not Walt’s vision anymore. It’s just a hot mess …
Disneyland crowds are insane right now! There are so many APs there and it’s just not as enjoyable as it used to be. We are taking our vacation dollars elsewhere.
Actually I’ve found Genie + has saved me money….I’ll bet Chapek didn’t predict this. Since I know I have to pay $16/day for Genie (yes, there is tax on the 15 making it $16), I reduced my number of sit down meals. I can find many quick service locations that offer the same air conditioning I enjoy on a sweltering day…at a much lower cost. I reduced the number of character meals and, without the dining plans, I don’t feel the need anymore to try to go to them. Instead, I eat where I want and for a lot les money. The last trip was a savings of over $1000 of what was initially planned. I really hate Genie + and the removal of “everyone is equal in this magical place” but it is what it is…and my Disney stock is plummeting as a result. If only, FPP were back as a free offering to everyone who was welcomed in the gates.
This is totally a setup to start allowing “value” and “peak” rates for Genie, etc. By three Holidays, watch for a significant price increase for Genie similar to how high and park rates rise for “peak”.
Anyone who thinks this is to benefit customers is sniffing Pixie dust. Disney only makes changes to increase profits. It’s sad, but it’s undeniable at this point.

Yeaaaaaah NOBODY should have to wake up at 7:00 a.m. in the morning to pick which rides they want to get on ANYWAYS !!!!! It is not a competition amongst guests, to see which guests can get “Disney Genie + and Lightning Lane “ the quickest and (should have never been )and it CLEARLY was not a”Working System”, because “Many” guests were purchasing “Genie Plus” and “STILL” only being able to get on ☝🏾 1 ride (once they entered the park) (after they paid all that money )and we had the whole entire day ahead of us as in my Individual situation 🤦🏾♀️🤷🏽♀️ !!!! I know one thing !!! I won’t go through the hassle ever again to pay for it, and will keep my little $30.00 dollars (I had to purchase two, me and my daughter) (hard earned $30.00, at that) (I demanded a refund and got it easily)to myself and just DEAL with longer lines just like everyone else has to !!!!! Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure are doing JUST FINE having “Express Lane” as a PERK of being a Three Perk “Premium AP Holder“ beginning at 4:00 p.m. daily once per ride and they are doing JUST FINE !!!!! Get rid of it it all together!!!!!
This! Getting up at 7am on vacation is absolutely stupid! What was so wrong with being able to book things 60 days out?! If we have to book park reservations, then why not let us pay for and book LL in advance. This change does nothing to address anything wrong with G+ IMO.

Planning Universal has taken me back to the easy, enjoyable days of planning a Disney trip. U can have my money until D can sort this mess out. And what baffles me…I haven’t heard any complaints from U about food shortages, price hikes, etc due to covid. My guess is that U is sitting back and reaping the rewards of the D mess. Smart U. Keep your mouth shut and goodness prevails.
