I have seen both and they are so good, but they cannot be compared as one better than the other because they are completely different genres. They are both awesome!

Can someone explain to me the connection in comparing these two shows? This article sounds like a promotion for the pirates show. I understand Taika Waititi directed it, but why compare it to Moon Knight? Apples and oranges.

They are the two top new shows in ratings right now, but OFMD has been more popular than MoonKnight for three weeks now and top new show for four and people are surprised as it came out of nowhere.

Haven’t watched either of the shows mentioned in this article yet (I’ll get around to it eventually) but I can’t wait for Waititi’s next season of “What We Do In the Shadows” to come out. That show is pure awesomeness! Do yourselves a favor and catch up on the previous seasons. Don’t SLUMBER!!!!

Hate to say it but I’m pretty sure Taika is no longer involved with the show, and neither is Jemaine 🙁 Still agree with the rec, though!

Disney seems to be making up excuses for their noticeable decline in business. The vast majority of parents in the US, not to mention globally, are very concerned with Disney’s extreme left agenda. They Do. Not. Want. Disney (established originally as a children’s entertainment company) to sexualize children. And they are letting their displeasure be known by using their wallets. The number one way to successfully hold the attention of any commercial enterprise.

      “Disney’s extreme left agenda”

You’ve got to be kidding me.

    2. The leftist agenda

      Okay, Karen.

Oh yeah, i forgot about how much “sexualization of children” there is in Our Flag Means Death and Moon Knight. Welp, guess I gotta go find a new favorite show…

I’ve seen both and while I am enjoying Moon Knight, Our Flag Means Death is just ridiculously more meaningful. The representation, the front-and-center queer relationships WITHOUT queer baiting, and the always-incredible Taika Waititi humor just make this show so important and so unique. Moon Knight is good but it’s still pretty much just another Marvel show. Our Flag Means Death is basically revolutionary.

Exactly. It’s my favorite show ever.

Having watched both OFMD straight up is a wonderful romcom that doesn’t shy away from some heavy moments which make it a truly well rounded story. They also effortlessly have a diverse cast and it’s so refreshing.
Whereas Moon Knight is good. But the superhero/punch on market has been overdone and whilst it has some new themes it is really just another marvel show. And there is a lack of diversity yet again.
What OFMD’s popularity is telling us is that we want to see diversity and queer representation, in a lighthearted way that also has depth and meaning. Because that is the market Disney has never really put the effort into.

Our Flag Means Death is the greatest show I’ve ever seen. It’s raised the bar (plank?) for television writing forever.

Our Flag Means Death is the only show I’ve ever subscribed to a network just for that one show. I don’t subscribe to Disney. But “far left agenda” and Disney? Disney Lives Matter!
