We were one of the families affected my the Saturday cancellations. We were very fortunate to get a renta car and drive home instead, but many thousands of people were left with no flight options and no rental options.

Hope SWA get their stuff sorted stat.

Disney is on full woke/pedo mode pushing a hardcore sexualization agenda on children. Best to ignore the brand until they return to child and family respectable values or dump them permanently for children’s well being.

LOL. You’re a special kind of stupid aren’t you?

        1. Not Yours

          And you are as well!

        Hahahahahaha.

        100% Agree

Disney World has completely dropped off my bucket list. Too many other great attractions in the U.S. to put myself into Disney’s Disaster World.

Amen! That place used to be a magical place, now is just small
      Portions and high prices.

      1. Frank

I think it’s actually part of the plan. Higher prices/smaller portions.
They are trying to reduce the crowds. It’s not really working though. People complain about it but for every family that decides not to go, several more fill the void.
The only real way is not to expand existing parks, but make new ones. Unfortunately Disney is cheap in that department and prefer to get money from existing offerings

They should rename it as “Money Maker World”.

This has been going on for a while. Our flight was canceled the night before we were supposed to leave March 19th. We ended up having to drive an hour to Tampa to catch a flight to be home that day. The airline was as helpful as they could be though. Just don’t be surprised if it happens with Southwest.

We were scheduled to be back home in Dallas Saturday morning. We arrived to the airport at 11 am and sat there for hours watching the delayed and cancelled flights and kept getting rebooked only to be told at 10 pm that they couldn’t get us out until Tuesday morning. All the hotels near the airport were booked. We had no money for a rental car. Great way to end our honeymoon.

We were supposed to be home Friday night. But the American Airlines crew decided not to show up for work. The next flight available was Sat morning. Then the “weather” happened. We sat on the runway for 2 hours before being taxi back to the gate. We were told if we got off the plane we would not be allowed to record and all flights are full till Tuesday. So we sat there for 6 more hours before taking off. We were going Orlando to Nashville. A 9.5 hr drive. We were sent to Dallas and then Austin, and then to Nashvile on Sunday. 2 days in an airport sleeping like homeless people around all of the noise, bright lights, and constant alarms. We will never fly again! The whole time I was sick as a dog only to find out now I got Covid and I’m fully vaccinated. American Airlines treated us like crap. Saud they don’t give out hotel vouchers for weather.

    1. Robin

It’s not that you crew decided not to show. They were more than likely stuck in another city. Do not be ignorant and blame hard working crews for weather related issues.

      1. Your mom

This post actually shows that maybe only one of you has actually read the agreement when you purchase an airline ticket. Weather is NOT a reason to refund or compensate. News flash, airlines cannot control the weather. The airlines are experiencing staff shortages. One major contributing factor is retirement. Airlines offered numerous packages for early retirement and for those who are already at age. Pilots, flight attendants, reservations, airport counter, etc. Want to make traveling better? Go home and stay there. Back to the states that kept you locked up during covid, which is still around btw. Florida doesn’t need or want you. Florida was a much better place before Disney ruined central Florida.

      2. Shelley

Well its true lots of them don’t show up the pilots don’t show so no.0lane

Southwest airlines is the bottom of the barrel in airlines. You get what you pay for. I wouldn’t fly Southwest if I was paid to.

  7. Amanda

We flew delta and got stuck overnight at the airport for 20+ hours only to finally arrive home with no luggage and wait 10+ hours at that airport for car keys that were in our bag.

    1. Kevin

Why in the world would you pack your car (and I am assuming your house) keys in your checked baggage? Kind of a bonehead move. Do you have that many keys that you couldn’t take 30 seconds to fish them out of your pocket at the metal detector or put them in a carry-on bag/purse and have them go through the x-ray machine?

  8. Scott

We were stuck over the weekend. Our flight on Spirit was canceled Friday and had to wait till Sunday for the next flight. The hotel charged us really high to stay the next two days and the airlines did nothing.

  9. Bob

Fla is the worst, in January i waited 46 min at TSA in Orlando. Orlando has 17 body scanners only 6 were being used WHY ????? I’m now stuck in Ft Myers., was canceled Sunday had to book for Wednesday

Stolen elections have dire consequences. Get ready to really feel the pain of this illegitimate, socialist regime.

    1. Ann

Oh my! You are so misinformed!

      1. Roon3805

Considering the Hunter laptop and how it was admittedly covered up before the election, I would say it is you who were/is misinformed….literally

        1. Aaron Cobb

          Yup

    2. Kim

Lol. A “stolen” election would not affect weather. Btw, every single inquiry has determined the election was not stolen. This has nothing to do with the conversation at hand.

    3. Roy

Jarvis, please turn off Fox News before you spiral even further into insanity.

  11. Holly Leaders

Delta also seemed to have issues. Friends were to fly home April 1, can’t get rescheduled until April 5 and no vehicles available for 6 people. Sounds fun at first, but with absolutely no help from Delta because it is “weather related” the costs for extending a vacation that long are extreme!

It’s occured to me once at Disneyland Paris.

The Vueling flight from CDG to BCN had a 6 hours delay, it departs from Paris at next day.

Being Vueling, I havn’t any compensation (just a little bag of chips at the airport).

SW wasn’t the only airline cancelling flights. Spirit was cancelling flights on Saturday night and all day Sunday; my son missed his only child’s 1st birthday party at Magic Kingdom because Spirit cancelled flights from Manchester-Orlando two days in a row. These airlines greedy af and don’t give a s$&t about their customers time or the thousands of dollars that they spend on their vacations. And they not offering $1 for all the money they made people lose!

    1. Dave E

That’s why Travel Insurance was invented. Pay a few dollars in advance to avoid spending hundreds – if not, thousands – later.

      1. AJ

Travelers Insurance doesn’t cover weather related events.

    2. steve jenney

FIRST of all..missing a one year old birthday party at Disney World? Like the one year old will remember? WEATHER caused ALL OF THE DISRUPTIONS ACROSS THE COUNTRY! PLANES. DONT FLY WELL THROUGH TORNADOS!

Our party of TEN (Grandparents, son, his wife and two children, daughter, her husband and two children) went through this mess with SW. The kids were all flying back to Columbus, OH and we were flying back to Louisville on Friday after spending a week at Disney. On Thursday, the kids’ flight was canceled. They rebooked and later in the day the new flight was canceled. They were able to get on our flight to Louisville that was scheduled to leave Friday morning at 8:50 am. From there they were going to rent cars for the final four hours of their trip. We all went to bed Thursday night feeling good except for getting up early to get to the airport. Luckily (or unlucky some might say) for us my husband happen to wake up around 3 am only to find out that flight had been canceled! And yes the first notification of cancellation came in around 3 am which was approximately five hours before our planned departure. The only flights we could get were for Monday. Kids had work and grandkids had school so that was not an option. We ended up renting a 12 passenger van and our trip took nearly 20 hours. Do you think SW cares? By the way, that was a rhetorical question. We asked for a refund rather than “travel credits” because we don’t want to fly SW for quite some time.

WEATHER RELATED ARE YOU LIVING IN A BUBBLE? DO YOU UNDERSTAND ANYTHING ABOUT AIRTRAVEL?

    2. Shelley

Have fun trying to get money back they wouldn’t for us travel credits then only give us tew months to use them southwest never agsin

The first part of March we were flying home from Orlando with American. We arrived at the airport 21/2 hours before our 6:30 am flight. We were in the TSA line for over 2 hours. We missed our flight by 5 minutes. It’s not always the airline that makes things bad at the airport. We were told thousands of people missed their flight that day.

  17. Jayne

Stop with the politics here. This supposed to be about canceled flights. Yikes.

  18. Bob

if you don’t like Disney people, do something about it and don’t go they’re getting too big for their britches like the other corporate America businesses they put their mouth where it doesn’t belong

Had to reopen this article 5 times because of “pop up” ads.

We were supposed to leave for Orlando on Friday morning (4/1/22) on a Southwest flight. We were told we could leave on a flight on the next day at 6 AM. When we arrived for that flight at the airport with a boarding pass, checked our luggage, went through security and were called to the service desk five minutes before boarding to be told we were not even listed to be on that flight! We were told that we could leave on a later flight around 5 PM. When we arrived at the airport for that flight, we were on line to check in. After waiting about 15 minutes, that flight was canceled, too. After waiting for over 2 hours on line to get rebooked, we were told that the earliest flight available was on Monday (4/4/22) at 6 AM. We did get to Orlando on that flight after missing 2 days of our Disney vacation.

We had a flight on Frontier Saturday night that got delayed 2 times. No one at Frontier knew what was going on! The lines were so long and they did not communicate anything to their customers! They did however call security to haul unruly people off who were sick of waiting and getting the run around from them. When we finally got through their line we went to TSA PRE check which was closed AGAIN! So disapointed with Pre check. Why pay for it if its never available. Thankfully our flight was delayed again or we would have missed it waiting in the security check line. After hours at the airport with 3 small kids we were able to board our flight at midnight and finally made it home at 5am! Not fun!
