If the audition tape was not like the in park performance, Disney should release the audition tape immediately to verify their statement. If they don’t, then Disney is complicit in the racism charge. Balls in your court Disney.

I’m sorry, did my Indian warrior ancestors NOT scalp people?

      1. Nancy

Yes. After the French started the bounty. The way they say it could be looked at as telling people to scalp Indians as well.

  2. Catherine

No, this isn’t an “incredibly insensitive” chant, it’s an incredibly racist chant. I’m disappointed the writer wasn’t more forthcoming. A school would have gotten away with this nonsense in 1950, but this is 2022. This is unacceptable, and I would have been livid if I were a paid guest at WDW while this was occurring.

    1. Aj

Hi! I’m a resident of Port Neches.

Somethings left out are the fact that the school has long had permission from the Native American Tribe that the dances and music was based on. In fact it’s something the school is very proud of and they discuss the history often at school.

The school has continue conversations with them actually, because it was never the schools attentions to be mocking, or rude. The Spirit behind all the work the girls do and the school is one of deep respect for the culture.

They sincerely believe they aren’t doing anything in a mocking or disrespectful.

      1. Robyn Marks

nice try, but racism is racism.

        1. Philly

Nice try, but this isn’t racism. The intent was not to harm. You can perceive it as you like.

        2. Lacy

How’s the money in Professional Victimhood?
          Waa waa waaa.

      2. C-Los75

Prove this! If you’re going to state fact, prove this. What are your sources?

I believe you as much as I believe Walt’s head is frozen and stored inside the Matterhorn.

        1. Chris H

That this racist school is in Texas is no surprise, but this happening in 2022 is still shocking.

      3. Dave

No mistaking you for Einstein. But they did rape and pillage northern Mexico to oblivion.

      4. Ken

        1. This sounds like a cult. Like the Jonestown type.

        2. This is an appeal to tradition fallacy.

“ Appeal to Tradition is a type of logical fallacy in which something is accepted as true or better because it’s the “way it’s always been done.” “

        3. It’s racist

      5. The Cherokees have been rebutting this for years. “Port Neches-Groves Independent School District continues to use offensive and stereotypical depictions of our tribe, and this is yet again exampled by their cheer team recently in Orlando,” Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. said in a statement Friday” – Spectrum News 13 took his comment. “For the past couple of years, we have written to the Port Neches superintendent and school board asking them to cease using this offensive imagery, chanting, symbolism and other practices in their school traditions as this does nothing but dishonor us and all Native American tribes who are making great strides in this country.”

That sounds like it is NOT approved by the people.

      6. V

Hello, I’m native. Absolutely NO TRIBE would ever say women wearing war bonnets is ok. I don’t know what universe you live in.

  3. Tammy

Did you have permission to use the kids images ?

    1. C-Los75

      The school released this video.

  4. DisneyFan

Not true, people are offended by a rAcIsT rabbit, bear and fox that have been in the parks for over 30 years. Even animals are offensive

    1. JC

      EXACTLY

    2. Nina

There are even some now calling for the NFL’s Jets to change their name bc it ‘encourages global warming’🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

There’s a word for this: Malcontents.

People w too much time on their hands who need to get a life…

    3. JS

      On point!

  5. JC

Unfortunatley, there will still be people offended by animals and insects.

    1. JC

      Unfortunately **

      1. Ulf

Well…are the Native Americans that are offended denying that they tortured and mamed people by scalping them?

        1. Robyn Marks

you do realize that it was the British who asked for scalps to prove that rebels had been killed, right?

  6. Jack B.

It’s kids in a High School, people. Cheer leaders chanting to inspire their team. I guess kids playing “Cowboys and Indians” is now offensive, Is there any thing left that isn’t.

    1. JC

      Nope

      1. Frank

I’m so sorry society has taken away all of the racist things you used to enjoy. 😭

        1. JC

At least you admit that “society” ( the left ) has taken things away. Such as comedy, conversation, civil discourse, and many more. You probably think thats progress.

          1. Vlm

If the only thins you find to be funny or conversationsl are racist, the problem is definitely YOU.

  7. RIS

Time to issue some permabans, I think having a lifetime ban to any Disney park will wake them up.

  8. Kadijah

My outrage is way way worse then your outrage

  9. Paul T

I am tired with BLM, LGBTQ, Woke, Insensitivity and claims of racism in every conversation of daily life. People should find better things to do

    1. Sue

I so agree with you. These woke idiots are so concerned with being inclusive that they seem to forget that they are in the monitory and are offending the majority.

  10. Charles

Y’all are getting worked up over NOTHING. Thant was for their team to scalp their enemy team. And lime it or not. Indiams DID scalp their enemies, alive or dead.

  11. I love Disney

Such a chant is incredibly offensive and insensitive to many people who are not Native American.

  12. Megan

Y’all are mad over our drill team and school who got permission from the Cherokee Nation. There is a seal of approval from the Chief hanging in the foyer of the school. But why aren’t y’all having the same energy about the 108 employees at Disney in Fl that were just busted in a human trafficking ring?

    1. C-Los75

      Show proof of this.

    2. Franky

Incorrect. It was 4 disney employees involved in a sting of 108 people arrested in Polk County

      1. Sharon

True. But it’s a consistent and persistent problem😔

      2. Sue

108 people who worked for Disney. It has been known for a long time that WDW is highly involved with child trafficking. More children disappear from Disney than the news talks about.

    3. Incorrect – Spectrum News 13 took the Chief’s quote… perhaps you can share it with your principal. “Port Neches-Groves Independent School District continues to use offensive and stereotypical depictions of our tribe, and this is yet again exampled by their cheer team recently in Orlando,” Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. said in a statement Friday. “For the past couple of years, we have written to the Port Neches superintendent and school board asking them to cease using this offensive imagery, chanting, symbolism and other practices in their school traditions as this does nothing but dishonor us and all Native American tribes who are making great strides in this country.”

Also, we there is an article on the site about the trafficking sting.

    4. Smith

And WHEN was that approval given. Cause agreements made are always stuck too throughout time (the irony on that statement).

  13. sundogg

Note to snowflakes: Take a deep breath, quit looking for racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia, transphobia etc under every bed and get on with your lives, treat people respectfully and realize your outrage doesn’t necessarily make you right.

    1. Ken

Your complicity does put you on the side of the oppressor though

      1. Your mom

Wouldn’t it be better if we shut down Disney and tore down all of their parks and resorts? There is more to Florida than beaches and Disney, but none of you tourists actually know that. Real Floridians think Disney is a cancer….. and they’re correct.

    2. Bob

Just because the intent isnt racist doesn’t mean it isn’t racist.

      1. Me Drinkem Fire Water

Quite frankly, Disney should put a stop to the cheerleading.
It’s annoying to those of us having to be exposed to it that aren’t the least bit interested.

    3. Jaxx

AMEN, Sundogg!!!! You said it perfectly!

  14. Laura

Oh good lord stop getting so butt hurt over every little thing!! It’s ridiculous!! If you don’t like it, don’t watch it!! I’m so tired of what this world is turning into!!

    1. Ken

      Victim blaming.

      Nice

    2. Bob

Then please exit it. Do the world a favor.

      1. Trixie

Very adult, “Bob” asking someone to “exit” the world. Can’t respond as an adult so you whine like a little baby.

  15. FJB

GET THE FK OVER IT. Your RACIST BS is DONE.

    1. Trixie

      The voice of reason!

I’m so sick and tired of everything being “racist” and “offensive”.

  16. Chris

Scalping did take place by native Americans so what’s the issue? Disney’s Peter Pan has a native American threatening to “Burn-em at stake” after the “What makes the red man red” song.

  17. FL-Dad

The practice of scalping originated with whites of the time offering bounties on the aboriginal tribes that were raiding white settlements. Payment was based upon the number of scalps brought in by bountyhunters. The Aboriginal tribes mimicked the practice, scalping whites in battle.

Are the aboriginal tribes guilty of “cultural appropriation?”

Also, remember that time when Mando cut off that criminal’s head so he could collect a bounty? This is the way, right?

Just goes to show you, you can be offended by anything if you want to be.

    So many thin-skinned Karens.

    1. Kevin

You are guilty of being a moron and everything you said is completely false. And Using a fictional show to back up your argument? Really? Then going on to call others “thin skinned Karen’s” when you are complaining just as bad shows what a hypocrite you are.

      1. FL-Dad

You have obviously never heard of the terms, “satire,” or “irony,” or “sarcasm.” Oh that’s right, the gov’t schools don’t teach anymore, just indoctrinate.

The Mando reference was showing that everyone thought THAT was cool, but get butthurt over a high-school cheer team saying “Scalp ’em.”

        Debate is lost on you.

  18. Kevin

So Indians Native Americans didn’t scalp their fallen enemies? If you on the left call for “education” make sure that “education” shows both sides not just your head buried in the sand, trying to erase the parts of history you don’t like version.

    1. Bon

As did white people. The whole process was taught by the British as a way to prove bounties. Educate yourself you ignorant blowhard. Disagreeing politically is one thing but bring to stupid to know history and not just get it from John Wayne movies Is quite another. Please go play in traffic.

      1. Kevin

“But they did too” is the best you got? Doesn’t make the fact that Native Americans scalped their fallen enemies any less true now does it. BTW, calling others a “blowhard” and telling them to “go play in traffic”? You’re a special kind of hypocrite, aren’t you? I can tell you are the real cream of the crop of our society. Maybe you should take your own advice? I hear I-80 is nice this time of year.

  19. Trixie

So tired of the whining about everything being “offensive” in one way or the other.

I’m sure the chant, the dress and everything else associated with the drill team is something they have been doing for years. Not “offensive”, just fun.

    Lighten up, people!

    1. Ken

It’s called boundaries vs unhealthy boundaries.

      Look it up.

      1. FL-Dad

So WHO gets to decide what the boundaries are?

Hint: At no time in human history were those forcing others into compliance ever considered “the Good Guys.”

  20. Daniel

Stop your race baiting. It’s been old for awhile.

    1. The truth

You might want to try hiding your pointed hood when you post

      1. Mr Micah

Everyone who disagrees with you is KKK ?

  21. Mr Micah

This is not racist or insensitive. They are portraying native americans as historically strong and formidable. If anyone should be fired it is DISNEY.

  22. Philly

Surprised PETA hasn’t come after Disney for their actions towards mice, ducks, dogs, etc. These creatures should be treated with respect, not trivialized as characters.

  23. Beth

I grew up in the town next door to them (they were my high school’s major rival) and I actually taught in that school district for a while. The chant described is part of the school *fight song* 🤦🏼‍♀️

  24. Tom

I guess we’re only supposed to be interested in history that makes white people look bad.

  25. Ace

Of course there are no “offensive” stereo types at Disney. I mean the lost boys were 100% native Americans and Pocahontas truly spoke to animals and the list goes on and on. Disney better not throw rocks in a glass house. Get woke and go broke. The sweater is unraveling.

  26. joe

I’m stomping my feet and pulling my hair — oh I’m sooooo hurt by this and to think little kids that people want groomed in school had to see this — oooooohhhhhhhh

  27. Antnys

Naturally, those appalled and disgusted by the chant took their little children by the hand and left the park immediately, boycotting it and the rest of WDW for the remainder of their vacation. Because to remain, patronizing TWDC, would be an act of complicity! Hundreds, thousands left the park that day right?
    Riiiiighhtt. Suuuurre they did!

  28. Tom

That’s “incredibly insensitive”? Funny, because I just watched a song on Disney+ that had the repeated lyrics, “We’re off to fight the injuns”.
