  1. It’s a Great Ride, Fun and Fast. However the issues with it being down is a waste of space for the park. It’s usually down most of the time when I go. I’m lucky if I get to ride it 2 times a year and I go more than a dozen times a year

Well that’s just swell to hear. I am going in two weeks and if I don’t get to ride lightning rod, my whole trip will be ruined.

Tyler, it is a great ride but honestly if your trip being a good trip is based off of getting to ride lightning rod there is more of a chance you will be disappointed than not.

  3. ITM is stupid

ITM is seriously about the worst site imaginable. Constantly putting up stories without knowing at all what they are talking about. There is a temperature threshold in which all roller coasters can run in. If the temp is too low they will not run a coaster. They run slower in the cold weather and can valley. The launch system on this coaster is LSM launched. It is purely electric and does not generate “steam” or mist. The lack of even the most basic knowledge of how these machines operate on a site dedicated to theme parks is baffling.

Lightning Rod is crap. It’s broken at all times and at all temperatures. There is no excuse for it. I’ve never seen any of the other coasters closed and I’ve ridden them all in +100° heat, below freezing temperatures and in the rain. Also, considering steam is generated when moisture meets heat, electricity likes to generate heat and Pigeon Forge is in a temperate rainforest, it sounds like you don’t have the slightest bit of basic knowledge about anything.

The “steam” or mist is a part of the ride. They are there all the time for entertainment purposes, although when we were there last we noticed there was more fog than usual.

There is absolutely no way that you rode any of the rides at dollywood with below freezing Temps as all coasters close at 36°. Your “basic knowledge ” seems to be lacking a little bud

Lightning Rod is the reason I want to go to Dollywood!!! Looks like it would rank as one of-if not my favorite coaster I’ve ever riden…

Just went to Dollywood yesterday! Lightning Rod had no issues! It was the best coaster I have ever ridden!

Lightning Rod is a great coaster to ride. One of the best in the country. Dillywood is one of the safest theme parks in the world. Yes, they will close a ride if there is even a hint something may be off. Instead of the negative comments be thankful there is still a place that puts value on safety of the guests and not on money. Dollywood has many attractiond and shows and so many things for the family to have a wonderful vacation and will go above and beyond to make memories worth repeating for their guests. Coasters do not run in extreme cold, when there is lightning or other dangerous elements thats for your protection. If your vacation is ruined because of a coaster being down then maybe the coaster isnt the issue. Lightning Rod is an amazing ride. Spread kindness.. ..
