Yes, we should be more inclusive, but that doesn’t mean it needs to be taught in the first three years of school, there is too much other learning that needs to be done then. Kids can have plenty of time to discover who they are from 4th grade and up, this has nothing to do with equality, it is just practicality.

      Exactly!

INDEED! I will say the unsayable out loud. I have a very novel idea. With test scores and graduation rates falling, and basic knowledge of reading, writing and civics completely debased by other more important “issues” – maybe just maybe make the role of education – equipping kids with basic tools rather than indoctrination. These are MY kids and I am sorry but indoctrination is NOT part of schooling. If there was a bill introduced that said ONLY hetero-sexullity is to be taught as normal – how would that fly with the “open minded” crowd? Quite frankly it is wrong to be teaching this in primary grades and I would extend it to 6th grade if not beyond. Education not indoctrination – in any form. This is not “hate” this is do your job. These are MY kids.

You mean like when children that age celebrate valentines days in school with cards. Kids can learn that mummy and daddy existing but not family that have 2 fathers. You are talking from a point where you don’t actually know what kids are taught. It has everything to do with equality because straight is the default everything straight is automatically in everyday life. Furthermore its not even about getting taught its about not answering any questions on that topic. Changed gay to black, because once upon a time during segregation, a white teacher telling white children that black children are just human like us, that’s ok. They would of been fired.

This bill is designed to oppress lgbtql children and same sex or trans parents. Because conservative still believe people are made gay by exposure. Im 38 my first crush on a boy i was in p3 so id been 6 or 7. 1991 i had no gay exposes, i thought i was broken. High school was the first time i herd the word gay it was used as an insult. I believe every bit of conservative lies, telling me it was lust it was pervert which effect my mental health at 16 i hide for 26 years who i was repression myself. It wasn’t untill i met a guy who became my first boyfriend that i understood that it wasnt lust and i was actually love, that a care deeply about him, i am so grateful for his patience because i didnt come out to everyone to i was 27. But the panic of getting caught, the shame that the world had showing gay people it messed with me, it stole a big part of my youth. So many of us in the lgbtqia have been through this so many of us bonded together because of our history, we become a very close nit family with the people we met. So when straight people say stuff like this, they’re talking from a place they know nothing about, they’ve not experienced because of privileged. They’ve never had to worry about if they’re broken if they’d get throwing out of the house, get beat. Get harassed. It blows my mind how anyone thinks that’s ok. Hate is taught doesnt matter if its race, gender or sexuality. This don’t say gay takes away a child’s safe space, to ask questions. It protects people that abuse their kids, especially boys if they talk, walk or act feminine. When people say let kids be kids what they mean is let kids be straight cis kids.

Conservative spread so much disinformation about lgbtqia, they talk about agendas the only agenda is people are treated equally, not bullied or penalised for their gender or sexuality. For trans kids. Do you know how the transition, by wearing clothes and changing their name and pronoun. They idea of surgery is ridiculous. The idea that children are on hormones is ridiculous. Lets just break that down hormones are already being producer, the only children that would be put on hormones is children with medical issues where they cant produce them, themselves. So this idea noone knows the long term side effects is bs.
To end the only people who push gender and sexuality on to kids is straight people. To the point they have conversion therapy camps, to force kids in to being straight.

Their agenda everyone must br straight and cis gender. Because deep down they dont care about the child, they care about how it makes them look to other

Our agenda is lets protect children who fall under the lgbtqia. Let them be themselves.

No, the bill is saying that teachers can’t teach this. Kids can talk about it still. Parents can still teach it to their kids. A teacher is just not allowed to stand in front of the class to talk about it.

        Bravo!

Guys dubbed it the “don’t say gay” bill.
ITS CALLED, HB 241 — Parents’ Bill of Rights!
HERE IS WHAT IT SAYS: The bill establishes the “Parents’ Bill of Rights.” The bill provides that the state, its political subdivisions, any other governmental entity, or other institution may not infringe upon the fundamental rights of a parent to direct the upbringing, education, health care, and mental health of a minor child. If those entities infringe upon a parent’s fundamental right, they must demonstrate that the action is reasonable and necessary to achieve a compelling state interest, and the action must be narrowly tailored and not otherwise served by less restrictive means.

The bill enumerates a list of rights that a parent possesses in order to direct the education of his or her child and be informed about the child’s educational programs. The bill also requires a school district to promote parental involvement in the public school system by providing access to the child’s studies and instructional materials while recognizing a parent’s right to withdraw the child from objectionable portions of the school’s curriculum.

The bill further requires a parent’s permission before a health care practitioner may provide services, prescribe medicine to the child, or perform a medical procedure, unless otherwise provided by law. The bill provides a misdemeanor penalty for a health care practitioner or similar person who violates the health care provisions and subjects these persons to disciplinary actions.

If approved by the Governor, these provisions take effect July 1, 2021.

    Vote: Senate 24-15; House 78-37
How is protecting 5 year olds from government sponsored sex grooming or violent irreversible medical procedures forced on a 6 year old without Parental concent or even knowledge Anti Gay?
How is allowing a parent to raise their children the way they choose Anti-gay? How is allowing a PARENT to decide and NOT a state, a government, an unelected agency beurocrat, a teacher, a school counselor, a gay rights advocate, a gay rights lobbyist how to raise their own children Anti-gay? Parents are responsible for their children in every way from their behavior, their education, their health care, their religion, their friends, their areas of interest, etc. NOT A GOVERNMENT SPONSORED GROOMING GANG TO HYPER SEXUALIZE CHILDREN OF ANY AGE.

Thank you for putting some of the details of the legislation in here.
After reading this seems like a reasonable position by the Florida state legislature as a way to curtail some of the advocacy and opinion being pushed by a small group of educators of very young children.
As I read it, this isn’t anti gay at all. It is against advocacy and settles the argument in favor of parental authority for situations where they disagree. It also puts the curriculum and materials on the table for all to see, which I believe is helpful.

Good grief, I don’t need to know a company’s stance on any political issue, frankly, I’ve had enough of politics in any arena.

I’d like to vote on a bill called “Don’t teach sex Ed until middle school.” Which actually in our state is what already happens. This bill is singling out a particular group of individuals and can be hurtful. It’s unnecessary. It’s negative. It’s harmful. How about introducing a bill that says “Don’t say crap to move your agenda forward.”

  5. Ed

How about we also stop pandering to individual groups of people? There’s Pride month, black month, Hispanic month. When is this crap going to end? When is Italian month or german month or Irish month or everyone else who is left out of these special celebrations? The other day on the Olympics, the announcer said of a white athlete from the U.S., “she’s the first American to win 2 medals at any Olympics”. Yet when the black U.S. athlete won, “she’s the first black female to win that event”. Why was one labeled an American and one labeled black? Why are people put in categories? And why do gays have to announce to the world their sexuality, when everyone else keeps theirs private? Until we stop pandering to individual groups, this is segregation all over again.

As a corporation Disney can do whatever it’s stockholders support. They should stay out of politics and stick to their job as an entertainment company. If they are going to be inclusive then they should support the beliefs of Evangelical Christians as much as they push the LGBT agenda.

This bill happened because a young girl hung herself in a school restroom after a school counselor had conversations with her about her gender. The counselor told the girl not to speak to her parents about it. School use to be about learning and preparing for the future, not trying to indoctrinate kids hence the Parents Bill of Rights.

  8. Mario

I don’t get what kind of impact the protestors expect Disney or any other corps opinion to have on the matter.
