Michael Eisner had limited issues in the 80s. After the death of wells that’s when the ground became unsettled. Eisner and wells brought back this company.and if it was not for Roy Disney getting them a board who knows what could of happened. As for the former CEO well all these issues are self inflicted

    1. Dennis Steinke

After 70 years of being a Disney fan and visiting disneyland and disneyworld many times, I will no longer support disney. They have caved to the woke people.

      1. Walt

COMPLETELY AGREE DONE! BUT DO NOT MISUNDERSTAND THIS CRAP STARTED UNDER IGER.

        1. Def

Goood. Take your white hood and get out. We don’t want my your ignorant mind here. You offer no value to this world.

          1. AH

            totally inappropriate comment.

          3. Steven Brengard

Given that you in the minority you should choose your words more carefully.

          4. Ronin Editor

The “minority” is people who hate inclusion. It’s hilarious how people who are soooo fearful, using the dog whistle words of “woke” – believe they’re the majority.

          5. Kenman

Wow, then how did the minority just crater Disney’s special status in Florida?

          6. Def is a Dummie

take your dark rainbow lucky charms blood and get out. We dont want your hateful ignorant mind here. You ARE of NO VALUE TO THIS WORLD.

          7. Normal Brain

What you fail to realize is not everyone is “woke” .. people are accepting of others differences .. but that doesn’t mean they have to cater to every safe space that is getting thrown up nowadays over nothing.. When you say “take your white hood and get out” your making the most ignorant comment of them all, calling someone a racist is reserved for RACISTs .. no tthose who don’t agree with a company so they don’t support the company anymore. Grow up.

          8. John

If you are not “woke” there is no place for you in our society.

          9. Dirk

Even the word “woke” was coined by illiterates who condemn “the man” and refuse to do anything that appears to accept his civilized society. Now liberals of ll types have used the word to convey their feigned moral superiority as they try to satisfy their her complex to save the world.

          10. Kenman

Being woke is just a sign of cognitive dissonance.

          11. Stephanie

            Agreed

          12. Twilliam

Can’t add anything substantial to a conversation, just say the other opinion is by a member of the KKK. Some people don’t go to DisneyWorld to get lectured about sexuality, diversity, teaching sex education to pre-K, K 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders and political correctness. My family just goes to eat in great restaurants, watch our kids smile with the characters, eat snacks, drink a few adult beverages, enjoy the rides, shows and fireworks….No KKK thoughts here. DEF, you sound like the hateful person, not the over 70 year old Disney loyalist.

          13. Jeff

I’m glad you enjoy those things. And don’t try to make anyone think that lectures of any sexuality happen at DisneyWorld…ever! But do realize that the ‘magic’ you go to experience is created by teams of people…many of which are gay. They provide you enjoyment and quite simply deserve to be talked about whenever the conversation goes that way. The family unit is no longer JUST Mom, Dad, Son, Daughter. This is not a wish, but a reality.

          14. Stephanie

The point is that Disney leadership has mischaracterized the bill as an anti gay bill when if you read it, it just says that sexuality should not be taught in schools to kindergarteners. Did you even read the bill?

          15. Jon

Why must we celebrate someone being gay? Do you also celebrate when blacks, latinos or asians are part of the teams of people creating the magic at Disney? How about we all celebrate the fact we are all beautiful human beings and stop putting everyone that’s different in a separate box. And to flip the script, should we hold Disney responsible for the pedos they’ve had on their payrolls over the years? Or how about the services Disney provides to countries throughout the world that make being gay a crime. Hypocrital, wouldn’t you say?

          16. Chris

Yep you guys are definitely more tolerant. Lol. You’re a joke.

          17. JS

Everyone adds value to this world, even someone like you who clearly has a lot of hate in their heart. This is the problem in the world. Nobody can be respectful to one another anymore. We all need to go back to the days of agreeing to disagree and move on ousted of being so hateful to one another. That is what Disney should represent. But instead they just keep pushing this divisive crap.

          18. Kenman

I totally agree with you that his post makes it clear to me that he hates grooming, pederasty, and gender exploitation.

          19. CrazyLegz

This comment is precisely why people are sick of the woke Disney mob

        2. Mm

At the risk of sounding repetitive “Go Woke, Go Broke”
          Disney is dead to me.

      2. Def

Goood. Take your white hood and get out. We don’t want my your ignorant mind here. You offer no value to this world.

        1. Disney execs just announced in a business call that they have a gay agenda and want 50% of their characters to be LGBT. I am all for inclusion, but since when is HALF of the population LGBT?! They’re trying to indoctrinate kids. The bill in FL is perfectly fine as there is no reason for a school to be talking to 5-8 year Olds about gender identity. Disney also announced that they will no longer say “ladies & gentlemen” or “boys & girls” in park announcements. Again, ridiculous. Add to that how they’ve become money obsessed (genie+, no more magical express, etc) and you have a picture of a company that has severely lost its way and needs new un-woke leadership.

          1. anon

They have not stated they want 50% of their characters to be LGBT. This is incorrect information. I would check where you’re getting your news. Go directly to the source (the call itself) and see if you hear that statement.

          2. She

            Well said.

          3. mike

“She” not accepted by Disney anymore LOL!

          4. Not Soft Brain

I agree … Chapek has to go, he is drilling disney into the ground QUICK. He’s making Eisner look like … lol WALT …

As for the LGBT moves with characters, honestly I don’t care as long as its not indoctrinating our kids, and im FAR from a lib. There is a world out there besides your own 4 walls with interactions between all different kinds of people. I have young kids and disney has never stepped over the line in their movies or shorts, they spin great stories.

          5. Ronin Editor

Literally not true, haha. Where did you hear that? It’s hilarious to think that people believe that happened behind closed doors.

It’s not “indoctrinating” kids, it’s teaching acceptance to show POC or LGBTQ+ characters since it’s a part of the real world. My kids grew-up with it, with an LGBTQ+ Godmother and some same sex parents are her Catholic school (yes, accepted here, fortunately). To my girls, it’s not a big deal.

Have you ever had a real conversation with a gay person? If so, you’d know why the suicide rate is so high… it’s because some never wanted to be gay but they struggled with trying to be something they weren’t. A friend of mine said it killed him when he realized he was gay, didn’t want to be around if he was going to be gay, knowing the hate out there in the world… by people like YOU.

You need to understand that it’s not a choice. You can’t be “indoctrinated.”

        2. jus

White good has nothing to do with it. Don’t bring race into this. This is a moral thing.

          1. jesusIs86d

The bible is immoral. Don’t bring that trash here

          2. ZachCho

Very enlightened comment of you! Spoken like a true bigot.

          3. Jeff

um, it was white hood…as in reference to what the KKK wears. Not referring to any characteristic of white people. Saying the word white doesn’t necessarily make it about race.

          4. Stephanie

            agreed

        3. Former DisneybFan

          He’s an angry elf!
          Buddy

        4. Mason

Inappropriate. Saying a person has no value in this world sounds similar to being a racist

        5. KJ

You seem to have a lot of anger. Not sure where the ‘woke’ followers are showing any sort of ‘inclusivity’. Seems they are carrying a lot of hate.

        6. Kenman

          “Def”initely a stupid comment…

        7. Hoody

White Hood? You don’t need a white hood to see a pervert trying to talk sex to 5 year olds

      3. Former Disney Fan

AMEN! The company has lost its way and traded its focus on the family for profit, wokeness and virtue signaling

      4. Gayle

You are correct! This man, and his IMMORAL IDEAS, needs to go. Very sad to see what disney has become

        1. Ronin Editor

Funny how some people claim to love God, yet, are so judgmental of what’s immoral, if they (uneducated) don’t agree with it.

        2. Jeff

Where is this list that tells anyone what is immoral and what is not? I do have a guess as to what the answer is.

      5. Uberubu

Two things I want to address here:

First, the GOP and Trumpians are constantly attacking “wokeness”, and they still fail to understand what it is. The definition of woke is “alert to injustice in society, especially racism”. If that’s what they consider an insult to us, I’m perfectly fine with that.

Second, I think that under Chapek the Disney has become a complete disaster. You have the controversy with the company backing the “don’t say gay bill” in Florida and giving donations to it’s backers, and then walking this back in a mea culpa after employees revolted. Then you have the utter fiasco in the parks with the removal of the Fast Pass system replaced by Genie+ and Lightning Lanes, which are little more than a cash grab that do nothing for the park experience.

Disney should just stay out of politics and focus on the entertainment aspect of its mission statement, and think about how they can better serve their guests instead of how they can maximize shareholder value by reducing or eliminating things that made them attractive to their customers in the first place.

        1. JS

          I agree.

        2. The Monk

          Well said,

        3. T

          Agree 100%

        4. TK

          Agree 100%

        5. Kenman

Woke means you are mentally unable to face the realities of climate, society, and common sense.

      6. TexasProud

I believe everyone has the right to live their life they way they choose. HOWEVER, they do not have the right to shove their beliefs onto others. Disney has become very woke and it’s hurting them. My prediction is, if they continue down this route, they will crash and burn.

      7. LaVon

I worked for Disneyland for 16 years from 1990’s on. Disneyland was literally my kids playground.
I will NEVER go back. I canceled even my Disney Channel Subscription.
Walt Disney is rolling in his grave! This woke movement is not even close to what Walt wanted for The LADIES & GENTLEMEN, BOYS & GIRLS who flocked to this magical place. I have no problem with people wanting to have their own identity… However, STOP expecting everyone’s acceptance! It’s not our job to accept you, it only YOURS!

      8. William Kuhn

Has Chapek gone NUTS? We are talking about kids between 5 &10 years old. At that stage they are not “gay” or “straight,” they are just children. If Disney employees want to walk out because the State of Florida intends to protect the innocence of its youngest school children against homosexual info-indoctrination, they they should keep right on walking . . . right out of our state.

      9. michelle

But the heiress is convinced that Most are in favor of their new policies.

    2. Donna Bulgrin

This guy needs to go. He has ruined disney

    3. Bruce Sherman

Thank you for hitting the nail on the head> Chapek must go!!!

    4. Bret Rhodes

Disney is a family business number 1. They should not be involved in politics or how parents are raising their children. They should be concerned about guest and Disney is doing a horrible job of that right now. It is time to Hit the reset button. Say goodby to Chapek and the programs he introduced during his reign. Bring back the fun to Disney!!!

      1. Kenman

Unfortunately, the Disney family weighed in on the argument which ruins the Disney legacy.

  2. JP

You can tell he doesn’t’ “get” anything about Disney. Just look how he handled the 50th anniversary of WDW, I was there and the park opened and ran just like it was another day and Chapek didn’t come to the park. For those who where at Disneyland’s 50th (I was). Iger was there, a lot of Disney historical figures were there, include Eisner, Diane Disney, etc. Iger walked around the park and talked to people. Chapek is a waste of time and he will further ruin the company in the upcoming 11 mons.

    1. Allyson

I’m from the UK and just returned after a 3 week break we had 14 day Disney tickets but all the nonsense about genie+ and lightning lanes is just too much money for working families from the UK. unfortunately as a family we won’t be returning to Disney after coming for years we will just do universal instead so much cheaper and better on the crowds

      1. Binky Barnes

Couldn’t agree more. You might consider Tokyo Disney as well! still magical and infinitely more affordable. I believe 3-day tickets were under $200 when we went prior to Covid.

        1. Zara

Oh wow that’s interesting, always wanted to go to Tokyo Disney

    2. Mark

Really sad the discussion is being driven by ignorance. It’s simple the changes made recently have all been about making more money. Essentially killing the goose. I liked Universal much better and didn’t feel soaked for every dime they could get from me. Unlike disney.

      1. Zara

I’m starting to love Universal more, especially with epic universe around the corner, how will Disney ever compete with this

      2. As a prior snowbird to Orlando area for six years, my family loved Disney. Besides the increase in prices, we no longer support Disney we cause of its “woke” positions. As a Christian, I don’t support teaching young children about denying the way our Creator made them. No more “welcome boys and girls” is ridiculous.

        1. Def

You are no Christian. You do not following the teachings of Jesus with your hate. You worship a false god and I name him Satan. You are a lost sole and will burn in hell. Now Take your white hood and get out. We don’t want my your ignorant mind here. You offer no value to this world.

          1. AH

You need to be banned from these comment sections for your totally inappropriate comments.

          2. Steven Brengard

            Just a troll …

          3. KJ

Def, you have a serious anger problem. You should get some help.

        2. Uberubu

So I guess you don’t get that whole Mark 12:31 thing where is says ‘Love your neighbor as yourself,’ then, right?
And as for “the way our Creator made them”, there are at least 100 verses that say man was created in God’s image, and if God is infallible, then you can’t say that God didn’t create gay people in the way that He saw fit, it just doesn’t work.

        3. Ronin Editor

“I don’t support teaching young children about denying the way our Creator made them.”

Do you understand that God made people straight… and gay… and somewhere in-between? So, you actually agree with the “woke” people in accepting people for exactly who they are; how GOD made us all.

      3. ZachCho

Universal also did way better with their Harry Potter-themed land than Disney did with an addition that almost had nothing at all to do with what people actually love about Star Wars. And that huge swing & a miss is all on Iger.

    3. Marilyn

I totally agree JP. I was there on 10/1/21 and was amazed at how little fanfare there was. Very disappointing.

      1. AH

Agreed. Was there over Thanksgiving and the entire following week. Nothing special happened. Almost totally like any other day.

        1. DB

Walt wanted an affordable place for families to enjoy together. Sadly, this idea has been placed on the back burner, by those in charge of the Disney Parks. Gone are the days of affordable enjoyment. So disappointed.

    4. People from the UK have to spend a lot of money to get here.
It is a once in a life time experience.
With the new Genie and still a lot of the attraction not going.
It is not realistic for people from.here to go.
He has taken away a lot of the magic which made Disney different from all the other theme parks.
I believe he must go, and get someone who believes in what Walt Disney stood for.
      The people.

      1. JS

Actually you can get by without using the Gene+. It’s probably actually cheaper to just add on a couple of extra days (6 days was only $50 more than 4 days) and then just do 2 days at Magic Kingdom and EPCOT since they take the longest. I got way more out of that then even the Fastpass. I was able to take my time and enjoy it. Still had to wait in some long lines, but wasn’t in any rush anyways. I went in February when the parks were sold out every day and still rode almost everything I wanted to. If you plan it right even the new rides like Ratatouille and Rise of the Resistance can be shorter waits. Still am disappointed in the parks as of lately as the magic seems less, but you can still make it work without that Gene+.

  3. Trey

His handling of the gay bill is icing on the cake of his ineptitude. He let the parks fall into disrepair, fired all the employees, and then was shocked when many of the senior and experienced team used the firing to retire. Disney lost a lot of seasoned, experienced people and a lot of institutional knowledge.

This is why the parks are in the state they are now, it was bad decision after decision. d

    1. Grumpy Wolf

Ffs, it’s not a gay bil. Stop listening to the woke media and read the bill.

      1. Robert

Agreed, and the idea of a company wide walkout is way over exaggerated. Maybe 100. A report I came across states a majority of employees are frustrated with the political stance/activity a family company is taking but fear for their jobs to say anything

        1. Def

          Wrong. It’s a minority.

      2. Def

It is…. You ignorant dbag. Read the actual bill. I’m a lawyer. This bill will cause harm. Just because Fox News and W anon say it doesn’t make what you are saying true. Goood. Take your white hood and get out. We don’t want my your ignorant mind here. You offer no value to this world.

        1. You must be a terrible lawyer. The bill never mentions the word “gay”. It’s not appropriate to talk to
a five year old about sexuality.

        2. Former Disney Fan

A semester in community College does NOT make you a lawyer. If you have managed to somehow get your license…it’s lawyers like you who are destroying this once proud nation with woke legislation.

        3. Shadup

          OK Groomer

        4. AH

Some one shut down this hateful person who is not only ignorant but stupid.

        5. Steven Brengard

If you are a lawyer … then I am President of the United States.

          1. Sucks2suck

And without any qualifications somehow you’d still be better than trump

        6. Def Sucks

take your dark rainbow lucky charms blood and tell it too someone who cares.

      3. CB

Grumpy Wolf — totally agree! Many of those who are so against and offended by the bill have not even read it! I think Disney needs to stay away from politics and go back to family entertainment. Those who don’t like it can quit or don’t have to go to Disney anymore!

  4. Joe

The transition from iger to chapek was a complete disaster. They was know transition period. This company was founded on imagination and ideas not greed and corporate mingling. What made it so successful with Walt was when he had an idea he presented it, Roy went ok I’ll get the funding. Corporations in general need to stay out of politics no matter what side your on. Disney needs to stop worrying about money and start worrying about creativity, you have a well know brand so the money will come

    1. Nikki

Iger was the one who STARTED politicizing the company though. I’ve followed stories of how he had political aspersions and used the company for his own ends. Now Chapek, who has his own issues with penny pinching, is seemingly trying to walk it back and failing spectacularly. He doesn’t have the spine it seems to just tell those Iger catered to to hit the street if they can’t deal with the changes. It’s a MESS. They need to just leave the political game completely even if they lose some people on the way.

      1. Def

Maybe the bigots need to stop passing hate legislation.

        1. AH

No hate legislation was passed. Read the bill. No rights were taken away.

          1. Cameron Holtoe

You’re assuming they can read. All I see is hate being spewed.

  5. M. R

First of all, stop calling the bill by the wrong name. The bill that was passed stops children in grades K through 3rd. from being taught inappropiate material for their ages. Sex ed should be taught at home by the parents so they can pass their morals and lessons on. If Bob should be terminated for anything it should be the absolutely terrible way he has run the parks since reopening. He was right to say Disney as a company has no place in politics.

    1. Corey

Could not agree more, Disney has no business in politic unless it truly wants to lose over 50% of the current visitors. We have been DVC members for over 20yrs and currently would sell immediately because of all the PC nonsense.

      1. Tony

I with you, I want to sell to. I have been a DCV Member for 16 Years well over 20 trips and I can’t see myself ever setting foot back on Disney property again. I love Walt Disney and want he stood for. But now I hate the Disney Company

        1. Marc

          Cool, bye.

          1. tony

What you don’t understand is that I was good for $5,000.00 a year for 20 years to Disney. Now I haven’t stayed on points since 2015, I did a cash reservation in 2017 for a couple of day just me and my wife and haven’t been back since and have no desire to go. I have been renting out my points and if I didn’t have $20,000 tied up in my points I want Disney to go bankrupt. I haven’t changed Disney drove me away

        2. Jim Roberts

Walt would burn Disney to the ground if he saw what Chapek has done to destroy his legacy. Disney is dead to me. Not a dime more will go into their pockets. I’ll keep my memories of visiting as a kid, and with my kids, before it turned into a woke hell hole.

          1. Walt

Its not just chapek – IGER started this crap. This did not just happen.

          2. AH

It really started toward the end of Eisner’s term then gathered momentum under Iger and now has reached its apogee with Chapek.

          3. Gilda M Perkins

Disney has strayed to far from Walt Disney’s dream, the parks are 5oo crowded to enjoy and prices exclude the working person and seniors. We are both DVC owners and passholders for many years and are considering selling and not renewing our passes. Wish they could get someone e that recognizes the problems and can correct them before it’s too late. We have been going to the parks for over 30 years and watched 2 of them open.

      2. Michelle

I agree with you 100%. I want to get rid of my passes but unfortunately I bought them before this ridiculous controversy started coming to light. They are lying about the bill. They need to keep their noses out of politics. People can do and be who they want but let kids be kids.

        1. Def

As long as it shows whites as superiors you are on board.

          1. AH

Def, you are purveyor of hate.

          2. Tonya

I don’t see that Michelle mentioned anything about “whites”. She is referring to a LGBTQwhateverelse bill.

Even if the school spoke with my Kindergartner about her sexuality in a heterosexual manner, I would have a huge problem. Because sexuality OF ANY KIND should NOT be spoken about to a young child by a non-parent / guardian!

      3. Braxton

        Yessss! Thank you!

Just stay out of all politics!

    2. Mister Kitty

I’d agree with you on that. Too bad there is nothing in the bill that calls for what you are talking about. The bill doesn’t even have the word “sex” in it. Just Sexual Orientation on page 1 and 4. In fact, there is nothing in the bill that wouldn’t allow teachers to teach the kids to play with themselves.

      1. Hey def
Which is exactly what you are. God made man and woman nothing in between. Very simple go read the Bible instead of preaching your own hate. Disney has caved into politics and BS .

    3. Ez

There is already a law on the books preventing teaching sex Ed until grade 6. Do you even live in Florida??

    4. Ez

But they give money to both sides, so he is lying. The are deeply concerned and involved in politics.

      1. Braxton

That’s such a shame. They are a child entertainment company. Stay out of politics.

      2. Cameron Holtoe

Giving money to both sides is sound strategy for any big corporation. They need to foster goodwill with the government, no matter what side of the aisle is running it.

That doesn’t show a political slant, it shows that they want to grease the wheels of government to help their own operation along at all times (prudent management).

It is the companies that only give to one party that demonstrate a vested political interest. I don’t blame anyone who gives to both sides.

    5. A Thiel

I totally agree. I am so tore. I love going to the parks. Having a special needs child. It is magical to him, but I hate all the politics. Disney needs to stay out of politics. The idea that they are putting adult content into child movies is disgusting. I have nothing against people choosing an alternate life style, but that is an adult choice, not something that should be presented to children in k through 3rd grade. I support the bill. It says nothing against gay people. It says sex ed of any kind should not be taught by teachers in grades k through 3rd grades. I would like Disney to really take a poll with patrons and see what they think about the changes. I think Disney needs to concentrate more on making their patrons happy, because without patrons there will not be a company and all those employee who are so offended by everything will not have a job.

      1. Def

That’s not what it says. Please someone take your kids away from you…. You are way too ducking stupid to have kids and are raising them into awful people. Take your white hood and go

        1. Shadup

          OK Groomer

        2. AH

          Hate filled person, you are.

    6. Former Disney Fan

AMEN…two can play that game…there should be a new nickname given to the bill…stop indoctrination our children bill.

      1. Boycott Woke Dosney

…how about the Anti-Grooming Bill…I think that better captures its intent

    7. Steven Brengard

Hate to tell ya but if you do some research you should note there are indeed some uber leftist teachers teaching brining this stuff up in their classrooms.

    8. Subro

Google “Genderbread Person” and then choose images. This was/is being used in Florida Schools and beyond. Clearly it is intended for young children, not high schoolers. This inappropriate instruction IS taking place in schools! When people are presented with the correct wording of the actual bill in polling they overwhelmingly support it.

  6. The author is a first class snowflake.

    1. DJT

Imagine spending your life making tired political insults on a Disney fan website…sad.

      1. DontBeSoWoke

And you replying is different how? I agree with Snow. The article is written to try and make people believe the reason people don’t like the new guy is because of his handling of this bill (a common sense bill by the way), not because of his ruining the park experience with all his greedy changes.

        1. Def

Goood. Take your white hood and get out. We don’t want my your ignorant mind here. You offer no value to this world.

          1. AH

            Hate filled person, you are.

          2. ZachCho

Def, How many children have you molested? Serious question.

  7. Chris

He needs to go (by the way the bill has nothing to do with being gay or not, it never even says you can’t say hay, it says not to teach about sexuality at an inappropriate age), not because of the bill, but because he has proven to be inept.

George Kalogridis would be an amazing choice, Tom Staggs would be acceptable, Josh D’amaro (sp) would be great too. They would have to steal him back from Cedar Fair, but Jon Storbeck would do a great job too, just look at how he has improved Knott’s and how he manages to keep making money for the company, even when the theme park had to be closed while at the same time providing a great guest experience giving us much needed entertainment that fell within all of the rules that the state set.

    1. Erick

I have to agree with bringing Jon Storbeck back. He was always available to talk to any CM and give advise. He knows how Disney runs and would be great to have back

  8. DeNell

    Chapel needs to go!
Disney needs to stop it’s woke agenda. It’s going to start losing lots of faithful followers and that translates in $$$

  9. Joshua Selig

Although I appreciate that Chapek is not everyone’s cup of tea and there have been plenty of missteps, there is a case to argue it is better the devil you know.

Also, changing CEOs can be a huge gamble especially when the markets are somewhat volatile

Please note, I am not a fan of Chapek either, but the decision needs to be made on the basis of what is the best thing for the business and the board has a fiduciary duty to its shareholders primarily and not on emotion.

However, there is only so much flak the company can take before the shareholders are sufficiently miffed which some already are, if they are to remove Chapek they need to make sure the process is as seamless as possible and agree a transition plan between Chapek and their successor in good time.

Furthermore, I would argue that dependent on who comes in they and Disney need to be treated as a reset for relations, however, I would hope they would consider making a small/medium purchase for content or spend money in order to resolve any historic and outstanding deals which prevent content being moved to D+

    1. Ross

Well said Joshua. I agree, Chapek is not great, but it didn’t start with him. Disney is suffering from the same problem so many companies are suffering from. They have to answer to shareholders who want immediate gains rather than long-term good will and growth for the company. I would LOVE to see Chapek replaced with a good, decent leader with a moral compass and a backbone. I’m afraid, however, that with the current board, the replacement will be an ultra “Woke” leftwing zealot. Chapek had it right initially when he said that the company shouldn’t get into politics. Naturally, the loonies on the left who have learned how to scream and cray to the leftist media to get what they want, succeeded. I harbor no ill will toward the LGBTQ+ community, and I say let them “do their thing”. However, they are such a small minority of our population. Why are their voices being heard over the rest of us? It’s time the rest of us speak up….there’s a lot more of us than them. Sorry folks, a 3rd grader doesn’t need a lesson in school about questioning whether or not they like boys or girls. They also don’t need to be taught that it’s “Normal” to go against nature. It’s simply NOT….”The science is settled” as they say.

  10. Kristie

Our family has spent many vacations in Disney World. I’m saddened by all of the changes and political involvement. Being “woke” will cause a lot of faithful Disney supporters to walk away.

  11. Binky Barnes

Disney (and all corporations, for that matter) has no business in politics. I don’t care how much they donate. If chapek or the Disney board members or whoever else want to run for office, feel free. But I’m so sick of companies giving “statements” and sharing their collective opinion on political issues.

    1. Phoebe L Ho

Would you say the same to Big Oil?

      1. Tiger

Great point and what people are missing. These corporations spend millions lobbying bills for their own interests. They are ALL political because believe it or not politics can have a direct bearing on their business and public outlook.

Basically people are just saying don’t make it so public but it’s naive to think they don’t have influence or can be influenced.

On a local level cities like Orlando or Anaheim can barely pass a new ordinance before running it by Disney first.

      2. AH

No different than any other corp. Big this or that, they are all the same.

    2. AH

As long as government picks winners and losers, corporations have to get into politics. If you could get government out of corporate life, it would be easy to get them out of government.

  12. Josh

    Chapek will stay.

  13. Josh

As long as Disney is profitable, Chapek will stay.

  14. P. Smodo

Disney is imploding from within because they tried to be woke. Cowing down to a minute part of the population- trying to play politics. Families will walk away and find other entertainment that does not offend them. Leave human sexuality to our Creator, and let Disney concentrate on entertainment.

    1. Julio Figueroa

      Amen to that my friend.

    2. Dawn

You do realize, as with pretty much the entirety of the entertainment industry, has always had a large number of CM’s who are in the LGTB+ community. Going back to the first movies a larger number of actors have been in the LGTB+ community. Just because you have blinders on and refuse to realize that there are and have always been people with a different orientation than you does not make them the minority. There are more in the community than people realize.

  15. Josh

Chapek’s fate is dependent on one thing only: Disney+.

  16. June

    Chapek saved Disney from covid.

  17. June

As long as Disney is profitable under Chapek, nobody can touch him. This article is pointless.

  18. Jason

First of all, maybe you should stop being dishonest by calling the bill “Don’t say Gay”. The bill does not make being gay illegal. The word gay isn’t even in the bill!!! If you are for sexualizing children and taking away their innocence, i question your morality. The state or state funded departments do not own parents kids and most certainly have no right pushing an agenda on the undeveloped mind of a 5, 6, 7 year old etc. why not not let kids of that age group start doing your taxes or make life altering or getting labor intensive jobs so they can buy there own house, since they apparently are capable to understand everything. If you, as a parent want to teach your kids transgenderism, that’s fine, that is your propagative as a parent, but corporations and state departments do not have that right. Disney is on for a rude awaking when families start walking away from the company.

    1. Mister Kitty

You’re right, the word “gay” isn’t in the bill. And we shouldn’t sexualize kids. You also know what isn’t in the bill? The word “sex” or “sexualizing”. Sexual Orientation is in the bill and it says no discussions on it. So any teacher can teach kids to play with themselves. There’s nothing in the bill saying they can’t.

    2. "Random Person"

Is that what you got out of this article? It’s a nickname for the bill. It’s easier to remember than the actual name. I would bet your name isnt actually “Grumpy Wolf” and that is a nickname, but I would bring reading the “woke media” ie this site, if I thought that.

    3. Connie

Agree! Why can’t my 6yr old granddaughter drive a car, comsume alcohol or vote?? Hum…it’s the law right?

  19. Rogerthat

Keep going gay Disney. You’re gonna lose America. There’s no place for a private company to be activist political and bend to a tiny vocal minority at the expense of everyone else.

    It’s sickening.

    1. Dawn

LMAO!!!!! You do realize that pretty much every large business/Corporation is involved in politics, right?

  20. Robber Baron

Florida Governor roasted California Disney execs for being the family company that supports the sexualizing of kids , films in China, and runs tours to a country that bans gays altogether. Expect some US customer loss, but as ugly as it looks, Disney is a global brand and Chapek can move forward on thinner ice

  21. I’m almost to the point I want to bring back Eisner

    1. Thea

I want to bring back Walt.

      1. Randi B

I’m with ya on this! 🙂

  22. John Wayne

Are we missing the point? Just because the democrats want to push “woke” down our throats the truth is “woke” is just a disease! The bible is about Adam and Eve! That doesn’t change yesterday, tomorrow or ever! Less than 2% of Americans identify as lgb-blah blah blah. So we’re changing one of the most magical places on earth to accommodate them? AND talking about firing a CEO for not kissing their ass? I’m native American and my people have been treated way worse than you jackasses that think you can change your sex like you change your shoes!

    1. Jan Six

      Leviticus 25:44
“As for your male and female slaves whom you may have—you may acquire male and female slaves from the pagan nations that are around you.“

How literally would you “jackasses” like to interpret the Bible?

    2. Connie

Well put! Maybe Thankgiving will change too, instead of native Americans and pilgrims learning and sharing the guest table will be littered with people who don’t know what they are!

    3. Dawn

The bible was the interpretation of stories by at least 40 people from Hebrew to English, ordered to translate it by King James. Each person had their own idea of what the text meant to them and since many words CANNOT be directly translated, words were substituted by them. Also, many words over time have had their meanings changed, it happens. Words are assigned meanings by people, so they can change because society changes.

If you read it at the age of 10 and again at the age of 30, you will take different meanings from it.

Also…. If you are Native American you chose the wrong name to use on your post. Marion (aka “John Wayne”) was a jerk and a huge racist, the people he hated the most were Native Americans. My family knew him, he was a POS.

  23. GASP

Chapek has destroyed the Magic of Disney! The added costs for annual passes or entry ticket and all the levels is out of control! Not to mention the price increase at restaurants with smaller portions. Disney has lost it Magic. It is now all about corporate greed. Chapek received his salary and bonuses during the pandemic, yet the little guys and gals were furloughed. As a DVC member and an annual Passholder I am saddened and disgusted by how Chapek is destroying everything Walt. Disney stood for.
Walt Disney must be turning in his grave!

  24. Randy Arnett

I have stopped going to disney. Let the woke shut the doors at disney, Someone will buy them out. America we need to wake up. Get rid of CEO and Liberal board members

    1. Boycott woke Disney

…once families boycott Disney parks and products because of its woke ideology and support of subliminal grooming our children they will cave because the left aren’t even having kids due to “climate change”…plus the government checks will get cut off at some point. Of course, there are the pervs that will pay any price to be anywhere children are.

  25. J

Fire this idiot immediately! Disney has been worse off ever since he took over.

  26. Andy

Chapek started killing the Disney brand in his first 6 months. It has been all down hill from there. “When you wish upon a star” will soon become “Now I wish there was a star”. So sad that one person can take a company so far backwards in such a short time; 48 years of building an amazing brand, almost gone in less than 2 years. Chapek needs to go before the “star” goes out completely.

  27. Mike

Nowhere in the bill does it say “Don’t say gay” or even the word gay…

  28. MB

Everyone is after Bob for doing such a bad job with the parks, why isn’t anyone talking about the president of parks and resorts (Josh D’Amaro)? He is the one that is in charge of what happens in the parks and resorts.

    Just my 2 cents.

    1. sneakertinker

The issue for Josh D’Amaro is that he’s a yes man for Chapek…

The parks exploded in popularity during Chapek’s tenure as president not because of him but in spite of him…Iger pushed back against any drastic ideas he (Chapek) tried to get off the ground…Namely a paid fast pass system and cutbacks on guest amenities…No coincidence that we now have Genie+ and all sorts of guest services being outright canceled…

Josh D’Amaro Approach running the parks the same way and that’s the issue…There’s nobody above them to tell them when they have a bad idea…

  29. Phoebe L Ho

When he goes, can we get quality, fairness, and free Fastpasses back, please?

    1. Braxton

      🙌🙌

    2. Jennifer F

      Yes please.

  30. haolenate

Funny Disney cruises still go to Dominica, where you can be jailed for 12 years and sent to gay conversion therapy – yet cast members got pissy about wanting to teach kindergarteners about sexuality… im at my wits end with this woke/progressive culture- and im gay!

no wonder Chapek is on his way out, Disney is the TRUE hypocrit here.

END PORTS OF CALL TO DOMINICA !

  31. Braxton

I’m a conservative republican and Christian, if they want to make a gay film just make it and move on. I will simply not watch that one. My issue is they are throwing hints of it in EVERYTHING too scared to commit. I’m nervous everytime I turn on a movie. Im not phobic and I treat everyone with love and respect but thats a no-go for my religion. They are a private company to tell them they can’t produce gay friendly material is crazy. Do what disney does, create material for all people. But STAY OF OF LEGISLATION. A company trying to repeal a law is insane to me.
I support the bill. Teachers don’t need to talk about sexual orientation with my kid staight or gay. They need to talk about colors, spelling, and math. I spoke to a local teacher and before this bill teachers were trying to fit in gay material into the classrooms of 5 and 6 year olds. Just let them be kids, I promise they will have the opportunity to be gay if that’s what they want. I don’t want them to talk about straight orientation either, some kids may have gay parents and it would be hard for them. Teach them…..ACADEMICS 😲😯🙄

  32. Matt

Can we please stop calling this the “Don’t Say Gay”? The word does not appear anywhere within the legislation. The bill is only about preventing teachers from discussing Al forms of gender & sex ideology (gay straight or otherwise) & ensuring parents know what is going on with their kids. This also only applies to K-3. Seems to me that learning reading, writing & math is way more important.

  33. George

Dude needs to go. Anyone who embraces the left wingers needs to go. I will never support Disney after opposing basic parenteral rights opposing kid liberal indoctrination. Shame on him.

  34. CJ

Bob Chapek was on thin ice before “Don’t Say Gay” became in issue in Florida …. from the closing of Disney Stores in every Mall, to his Cheapskate tactics, the forcing of Walt Disney Imagineering to move from California to Florida, unpaid furloughs for Cast Members (there was no loyalty at the Walt Disney Company on display during the pandemic – so guess what all the people Team Disney relied on found jobs somewhere else and don’t want to return – you can’t blame them!) …. Bob’s done enough to tarnish the Walt Disney Brand!

And to think the Walt Disney Board didn’t want to let Tom Staggs back in 2015 prepare to take over Bob Iger’s job by 2019 …. but they were quick to give it to Bob Chapek! Bring back Tom Staggs (he cared about the Disney Theme Parks, Disney Stores, Disney Staff, Disney Brand!)

  35. AmericanbyGod

Why are they using this bill to push an agenda for less than 1% of the population? The bill does not even use the word gay. DeSantis is only trying to protect children and I feel it should cover kids K-6. Let kids be kids until it’s time to have the talk about sexuality. Teachers need to teach what they are being paid to teach, stuff right out of the text books, not whatever their personal opinions or views are. It’s that simple. Bob Chapek’s failure is not solely his stance on the gay community. The biggest reason he has to go, along with Susan Arnold and the rest of the money hungry board, is the price gouging and park changes. Not every family can afford to drop $3-4K for five day Disney vacation, even staying at All Stars, but there are many that struggle to do it for their children, pay for months prior just to take their kids to the magic. The best part of pre-covid for us was that with our package and staying on property with a dining plan all we had to worry about was paying for gas and food to get there and whatever souvenirs we purchased. Once there, we didn’t worry about paying for parking, paying for food and we already had our Fast Passes set and our day planned out without having to constantly bury our faces in our phones like zombies navigating the next Genie+ Lightning Lane ride we would not be guaranteed to get. We are totally done with Disney until they restructure their management and put things back the way they were.

    1. AmericanbyGod

      Comment from another article…
The rich keep getting richer, Bob finding more ways to pad the ole bank account. How much exactly is Bob worth thanks to his profit making schemes and price gouging Disney fans? Anyone is free to Google it…
For example: Disney CEO Bob Chapek and his predecessor Bob Iger more than doubled their salaries in 2021. Chapek earned $32.5 million, while Iger took home $45.9 million. And, Chapek received a base salary of $2.5 million, stock and option awards valued at nearly $14 million and other compensation, including a change in the value of his pension, worth $1.7 million, according to the filing.
All that is personal earnings, not what the company absorbs. It’s funny how they doubled their salaries when the parks were shut down for so many months due to covid and no parks were pulling in revenue. Price gouging at the finest. Eliminate the dining plans and jack up food prices. Eliminate free resort parking and start charging $25 a day to park your vehicle in a parking lot long since paid for. And then the biggest ripoff of all, Genie+ and Lightning Lane to replace the free Fast Pass system that worked. All this without a reduction in resort or park prices. In fact, all those prices went up as well and there was a recent article that the multi-day tickets will no longer be discounted as much as they were. Bob is surely in line with the Biden Build Back Better plan that has proven to be a failure to this country. Likewise, ole Bob is a failure to Disney and all of us that are Disney families. But, he is the rich that’s getting richer. Think he, or anyone else on that board, gives two spits about any of us? No! He’s set for the rest of his life, his kids are set for the rest of their lives, his grandkids are set for life as well. And all from our dollars and because of our love of Disney. Read comments on almost every article, Disney is losing its fan base, it’s family based guests, hundreds, probably thousands, of people are canceling their planned Disney vacations, us being one of those families. We took a fraction of what that trip was costing us and bought season passes to Dollywood in Tennessee and can go any time we want for the entire year, get free parking and discounts on food and merchandise. It’s unfortunate that it’s not Mickey Mouse, but, we can still enjoy some good wholesome affordable family fun. Until Disney gets their act together they won’t be making any more money from us.

      1. Steve

“…surely in line with the Biden Build Back Better plan that has proven to be a failure to this country”
How has a bill that never passed been a failure to our country? Too much right wing media for you. Republican politicians pretend to be christian to fool people like you. They hook you on one issue, and you fall in line like lemings on the rest. I am for this bill too, there is no place for this in schools. But i am not so ignorant to fall for their push to hate biden and all things democrat. The most perplexing part is how they use religion to get you to support a republican agenda that flies in the face of everything Jesus stood for.

        1. AmericanbyGod

That was sarcasm, but…OK. The whole point is GREED and Bob is ruining Disney for everyone. But, if you think the state of this nation is in great shape and the economy is prospering, then, it surely is.

  36. AngryFan

Man you spent a lot of time on the gay thing….really weird.

That is even an issue. You talk about “hundreds” of employees walking out – frankly kiss them goodbye these are the toxic employees. Disney employs 223k globally, so this is not a unified voice of employees.

Additionally, what he has done to the parks is the more outrageous issue – replacing fast pass with genie+ essentially all but charging for the top rides after you have paid admittance, he is creating a carnival and not a magical experience

    1. sneakertinker

I came here to post this exact same thing…He was already on slippery footing before the bill thing even came along…The only thing it did was show the public by mid large what a horrible job he’s doing in just about every aspect of his role in the company…

    2. Dee

I am boggled by the fact that only 1% of our nation’s population considers themselves “gay” or “trans”. So it is Disney opinion that the rest of the 99% of our country isn’t as important as the 1%.
I have nothing at all against the gay community, I have friends that are gay. But I don’t think it is necessary to force everyone to think they way they do. Live, and let live!
The sad part is that what they claim, is not true. I am guessing they never even read the Bill they oppose so vehemently.

  37. Cher

Bye bye. He needs to go. Cannot run a company on personal opinions.

  38. Pete

Don’t we go to Disney to get away from all this CRAP??The LEFT wants to push there agenda everywhere they can.The majority of Disney fans don’t agree with this WOKE nonsense. This will hurt Disney in the end.

  39. Connie

Bob’s got to go! My sympathy to the Disney family and fans around the world with regards to respect and memory OF Walt Disney, remember him???
We were one of the first 100 to purchase DVC at Old Key West, now sold as we no longer want to be part of the Non Walt Disney World.
And thank you to those who took it away from 99 percent of the population. I guess how we feel when we get up in the morning doesn’t matter!

  40. Mike

We need to stand firm against these woke pedophile LGBT insane people. They are the few, but the loudest (evil usually is these days). #boycott Disney for even sounding like they are against this bill. Time to stop the evil pervert pedophile LGBT lovers dead in their tracks

  41. Dee

I am boggled by the fact that only 1% of our nation’s population considers themselves “gay” or “trans”. So it is Disney opinion that the rest of the 99% of our country isn’t as important as the 1%.

The sad part is that what they claim, is not true. I am guessing they never even read the Bill they oppose so vehemently.

    1. Dawn

20 Million U.S. Citizens are currently in the LGTB community.

    2. Sage

I just looked up some stats. They agree that 1% is trans but another 3% are gay. That comes out to about 12 million people out of 332 million. So 320 million others are made to suffer the extreme ideas of a very vocal minority.

  42. J Burchstead

I voted my proxy shares to remove Chapek from the board. This man is a horrifying fit for the company and has generated so much bad press with his ridiculous decisions it will take years if not decades to recover.

    1. Don

Bull crap! Just because it doesn’t fit your agenda you get butt hurt.

    2. AmericanbyGod

Me too. I voted against them too. But, so far it hasn’t done any good. He’s running Disney down the toilet about as fast as Biden has the country, and, making a ton of money doing it. Yes, it will take years, or decades, for them to recover once they get their crap together. The unfortunate part is that by that time my child, as with so many others, will have lost interest and probably outgrown Disney. So they have basically stolen many happy Disney memories that could’ve been made had they left things like they were and not gone politically left. It’s a shame, but, Dollywood is within driving distance and we will be spending plenty of family time there instead.

  43. Jose

Your article is simply wrong. Every facet of the company has not come out against the Floida bill, it is only a vocal minority. In fact, a majority of employees support the bill.

It’s not an anti LGBQT bill. The bill only prohibits the instructing and serialization of children under the 3rd grade. Who in their rights minds can oppose the exploration of children.

Dear God. How far have we fallen off the edge.

    1. Randi B

Thank you for these facts Jose, I did wonder about this. It’s good you spoke up.

  44. Walt

Everyone blames Chapek – no doubt he continues the legacy of crap – BUT MAKE NO MISTAKE this garbage started under Iger profiteering, wokeness, bowing to China Chapek was chosen becuase he was in the same vein. There is no way this guy comes to power in the way he did without having been carefully selected. Susan Arnold is suspect too – research her – that’s all I’ll say. Wokeness is so far engrained, it may now be impossible to correct course. Of course this company was designed with kids in mind – and it is now used to indoctrinate small children. ENOUGH. Scoff at this comment trolls but this former cast member, stock holder, and multiple dozens of times visitor will never return until things drastically change. Why do I keep my stock becuase it gives me a chance to vote and access to communication channels not open to non stock holders

  45. Shadup

Lot’s of people wound up because they passed a law keeping t from grooming young children. Hopefully they are on a watch list.

  46. Allen Deckard

The Florida law states that there no NO sexual teachings to grade. 3 and below. That it can’t be in the curriculum.

There is absolutely nothing in it about gay.

Are you people seriously saying that a kindergartner is the proper age for sex education without the parents consent?

How this gay part was brought into it is beyond me it doesn’t allow heterosexual education either.

How many of you that are super pissed at it OR supporting it have ACTUALLY read it? It’s not that long just a few pages. Probably far less than many of you have posted.

    1. Sage

What amazes me is that it IS allowed by 4th or 5th grade. That is what is twisted & needs to stop.

  47. Steven Brengard

Hundreds of employees walked out in a company that employees 190K+. And now the company suddenly gets ‘woke’?

Well go woke, and go broke. Disney is NOT about the LBGT+ experience. Its about the family experience, especially the children. That is their core business. Forgetting that will cost them.

And let me removed them … they are not part of the government of Florida. But We the people are. This is a conservative state. With a GOP help house, senate, and Governor mansion. With 80%+ of all of Florida counties being Red. Best to wake up to the reality Disney (and its employees). Don’t like it? You are free to leave. I am sure other parks will be happy to pick up the slack.

  48. J

I couldn’t care less about Disney not getting involved in a school related item that should only be between parents of very young children and their local schools. Disney is a corporation and it is certainly not their place to get involved in something like that. As far as him possibly losing his position: I’m not a fan of anyone losing their job, particularly in the bad economy we have had for the past year or so, but I don’t know, maybe a change in leadership could help steer the parks back toward a better experience for the heft amounts of money we all pay to go. On the other hand, who knows. It could get worse with someone else!

    1. J

      Oops, *hefty

    2. Dawn

It’s not like he hasn’t made more than enough to live without a job. He was paid an outrageous amount.

  49. Lisa Yetman

As for myself, I have become increasingly disappointed with the way Bob Chapek has been handling issues for the Walt Disney Company. I have no idea who finalized handing him the baton to orchestrate the way the Company is run, but it seems he’s done more to run the Company into the ground than any past CEO.
As for the controversial bill- very young and impressionable children shouldn’t be indoctrinated into ANY sort of sex education, political battles, etc. THEY ARE CHILDREN! They should be allowed to have fantasy and magic in their lives, since they are our newest discoverers! They don’t need vestiges of our adult world mucking up their creative and innovative minds! I certainly didn’t want or need blatant sexual ideas and politics when I was a young girl. I read fairy tales and rode my bike and let my imagination soar! Today, children have their imagination and creativity squashed by issues to big and too complicated for them. Let them be CHILDREN! After all, we were children once, too! So was Walt!

  50. Mike

Majority Floridans supported the bill and stand behind DeSantis. Why should we have to be woke like California? Remember for the passed 2 years Californians escaping to Florida to get away from that cesspool.

Stop calling it the “don’t say gay” bill and start calling it the “anti grooming bill.”

I mean I guess since this writer hasn’t mentioned the 4 WDW employees arrested during a recent child sex trafficking sting here in Florida maybe this all makes sense…

    1. Dawn

Three of the four were arrested for trying to hire a prostitute, not looking for a child.

  51. Red

    Dollywood people, Dollywood!

  52. Brenda

I agree Disney is no longer family friendly! An average income family can no longer enjoy the parks and you have to be connected to your phone all day! You go on vacation to get away from your phones !

  53. Ex-Tiger 84

Disney is in trouble. Families of traditional values will not tolerate this anti-traditional stance by Disney. Stay out of politics and stick to entertainment. Stay out of pushing the LGBT agenda and let parents be parents. Disney will not win this battle.

  54. Don

This article is bull crap! And very untrue. First have the name of the bill wrong, and the left has name it to fit it narrative. When you read the bill and understand what is saying that it has nothing to do with being gay. Again a gross left lean BS, driving millions to the right.

  55. Good !! I am happy to hear this ,because a lot of these reviews are making me wonder ,if I should ever go there again .and I’m only an hour away.

  56. Good !! I hope he goes. all these reviews are scaring me ,and I’m only an hour away. do I really want to ever go there again?

  57. Dolores Whitfield

I have been a Florida resident and a Disney Passholder for 22 years..Disney has always been my happy place. No more! Disney should have stayed out of politics.
There is no place in that bill that says don’t say gay. For those who want to discuss gender with your pre-school children, you can discuss it in your own home.
We have gay people in our family and they are 100% behind this bill. I agree with DeSantis 100%.
Unfortunately, I renewed my annual pass before this debacle unless things change, I will not be renewing it again.

  59. Bob

In any business, the focus should always be on the “customer”, but Disney has lost this focus. Prices have been increased significantly for park tickets, merchandise and park food. Perks that were in place to encourage park guests and their families to go to the parks year after year and to stay on property have been taken away. The Magical Express has been eliminated, annual pass sales have been suspended, and a number of services have been reduced or eliminated, and most importantly park staffing has been reduced and venue maintenance has been cut back to the degree that park guest safety has become a critical issue, and most importantly there is no park crowd management and venue line wait times are just unacceptable. Bottom line, the Disney Magic is gone and there needs to be a major business refocus on the park and resort customer.

  60. Jeff

People are complete idiots research people. The bill does noes not say don’t say gay it is to protect kindergarten and grade school children from being taught about any thing of any sexual nature. Read it before you write an entire article criticizing someone not for supporting common sense.

  61. Christ

If every facet of the company opposes parental approval of sexual instruction being taught to small children, that’s a matter that doesn’t bode well for the brand. No is seeing the bigger picture that is going to end up with reduced profits due to being extorted by extremists within the company.

  62. CDinID

For a site all about the joy and magic of Disney (parks, at least, for me!), there’s a whole lot of hateful nonsense here – from both sides! I, for one, am opposed to Disney’s promotion of the homosexual agenda, but if it’s in a movie here and there, that’s reality. We’re talking about approx 4-7% of the population here. So, as long as Disney (and everyone else, for that matter) represents in that way, it is, in fact, equality. Otherwise, it DOES come across as an agenda to indoctrinate and promote. I don’t hate anyone. And, to some of these commenters’ surprise, I even actually am a Christian! (gasp – and I don’t HATE??!!) I just don’t want ANY agenda pushed to me or my kids. If the NRA pushed gun ownership in movies too much, ot if movies promoted Christianity in a covert way, I’d be just as opposed. Just make good movies, Disney! Make fun stuff in your parks! Your best-sellers absolutely DO NOT promote homosexuality or LBGTQ+ stuff…so you KNOW it’s not a “business decision.” Chapek has made some mistakes and poor decisions, but he was right, in my opinion, to just stay out of the politics in public. While I respect Bob Iger immensely – he is a button-pusher politically and seems to be very driven to appease the loud minority. That is all…

  63. Licia

Get Chapek OUT!! Disney is nearly what it used to be.

  64. Licia

    Oops not* nearly

  65. Licia

    Oops not nearly*

  66. Licia

    Oops, *not nearly

  67. Henry Cross

CEO’s can’t have it both ways. You take away the Decades long Family Oriented & Traditional values of Walt Disney, you lose customers & money. We don’t want your political crap.

  68. Trav

Politics on the back burner. My wife and I are so exhausted from the crowds and higher prices that this year we are taking a break from Disney World and instead going to Dollywood.

  69. Benjamin Collins

This completely has no news about the parks themselves, I’d like to hear more from the cast union. As a Disney fan myself I refuse to read negative news from park fans, at this point it’s up to the governor not the fans.

  70. Cynthia

Will never have another thing to do with Disney world. Was a wonderful childhood watching Disney every Sunday night with family on b &w TV. Made 4 trips there as a child. Purchased all the movies and watched with my children and grandchildren , have taken kids twice, grandchildren twice and just canceled trip with older grandkids, this stance was not necessary and very upsetting to me and family. What a disgrace this company has become. And totally offensive .

  71. J Smith

Nowhere in the law does it ever mention “don’t say gay”. It’s a damn Parents Rights Legislation bill. If you want your Pre K to Second Grader to have some libtard instructor teach them how it’s perfectly normal for someone their age to have any type of sex with anyone at anytime, keep it wherever the hell you reside. The citizens of Florida have spoken and if you don’t like it, stay the heck out of my state. The Bible only recognizes marriage between a man and a woman. Oh, I forgot, You can’t say man and woman at Disney. WALT’S DISNEY IS LONG GONE.

  72. Denis Riley

Fire him. He supports 2.3 % of the population trying to tell me what what to think, do & say. His action are and have been only for Disney worst. 10-1-2022 was a disaster!!!!
It is time for the non-woke to raise their voice. I’m a passholder and I will still visit to it ends (mostly not renew)
    My new nots are:
    1.not staying a Disney
    2. not eating at Disney
    3. not buying souvenirs
I live and vote in Florida. If Disney is going to attempt to change our laws, let change all the perks they receive.
As per Def, it is my clinical opinion “they” need counseling

  73. UK people coming to Orlando now must think twice about going to wdw.
Prices are high, and the new Genie is just unbearable and not customer friendly.
We pay a lot to get there, and the new park is a joke.
Must go back to being able to go to any park whenever you like, and also all attraction must be open.
This is the only way to make realistic for UK people to go here.

  74. Randi B

I am so sad. Disney was always a place I could go to escape politics and wokeness, and just have a good time at the parks and forget the rest of the world did not exist for a few days. Now I can’t do that anymore. Disney should never have entered the political arena. I can’t enjoy a vacation that makes me choose a particular political party or set of beliefs; or a company that actually lies to move forward its own political agenda. This is tragic for so many people. Disney – get out of politics, stop bending to aggressive organizations, and go back to being a vacation destination, not a political party.

  75. Renaissance

Without talking about politics, Chapek does need to go. But the only way he will be forced out is if the board actually goes to disney and not as a VIP. They need to go and try genie+, they need to see the chaos that happens when the monorail is not working after the fireworks. They need to experience the 150 minute wait for a ride. They need to see and experience the new “normal” park experience. This new park experience means people are throwing away money on genie+ just to try and get on a couple rides. They need to experience how being tied to your phone on vacation is not good for anyone. They need to experience the lines, the park being so packed you can’t even enjoy walking around, the trials and tribulations of dining. They need to understand that adding more vacation villas without adding attractions, restaurants, rides, shows, and transportation will only add to the lower customer satisfaction ratings. I do love Disney World, but has the experience changed for the worse…unfortunately yes!

    1. Sage

Good & sound advice but I do not believe anyone will take it. They are probably not accustomed to dealing with reality.

  76. Tracey

Can anyone give me names and addresses of who I can write hand written letters or even emails to over the sadness I hold in my heart?

  77. Disney used to be about fun, entertainment & family. Most controversies are now political. Easy, stay away from politics & the “woke” culture. Wokeism has become an excuse to exclude, bully & intimidate those who don’t agree or follow along with their agenda antithetical to the reason it was started!
Continue to make content that’s diverse, fun & family oriented without pushing political agendas. You don’t need to try and cater to specific groups or the current Hollywood/elitist pet peeve. There doesn’t have to be a political message in your shows or movies. Just include everyone.
For the parks how about simplify rather than complicate for the sake of charging more $$? The average family can’t even afford to go now without taking out a loan.
Chapek didn’t need to make a donation to any political entity period, or get involved. When you specifically support one group you’re expected to openly recognize them all or exclude others.

  78. Bruce Sherman

Thank you for speaking out. Chapek must go. I was part of the ouster of Eisner, but I would take him back anytime over this idiot. Disney should not EVER be political. If you dont like it, go to universal!!!As a shareholder I completely support his ouster

  79. VV

    Don’t cave to craven @desantis.
Government over reach, big brother and big government.
Coming after Disney and then who’s next.
Vote Ron and all Florida Rs out. Especially Scott and Rubio

    1. Mario

If you’re mad about a law that prevents perverts from talking to 4 year olds about sexuality, then you yourself are a pervert.

    2. Sage

He’s doing a bang up job. Wish we could clone him.

      1. J

Agree Sage. I really wish he would come work for my state and we could get rid of the horrible Herr Governor that we have presently.

  80. Mario

I’d rather see the perverted president of content Karey Burke go. She wants to use her position of power to validate the perverted ways she raised her own children by pushing sexuality on our kids.

    1. Sage

Why have to choose? From what I have seen there needs to be a clean sweep of the entire company. That is what HR does, they hire like. You get in a couple & soon there is an infestation.

  81. Peter

How to identify a racist and right-winger? They say “woke” for everything. Sorry but every company in this country supports inclusiveness and diversity. The way it should be.

    1. Sage

How about we just call it sick & perverted then? No, every company is not that way. Those that tried to be are now turning out to be real hypocrites, like most liberals.

  82. Disney Fan

They Need to remove him ASAP! And Hopefully reverse the things he’s done to the Theme Parks cause Disney will start seeing the effects of his poor leadership and decisions in the upcoming years.

  83. Julian H

He needs to go sooner the better.

  84. Frank Sommo

I’ve been going to Disney for 38 years. I own a DVC unit at the Beach Club. I always loved Disney as have my children. Was a Very special place. The last few years it has gone down the toilet. I’m so disgusted. Its a disgrace. I want to take my Grandson there but this WOKE stuff disgusts me. For the millions of people that supported Disney over the years , now they want to turn it into a freak show. Not on my watch. I will not support it. Until they get rid of this CEO I’m not coming back. Walt Disney is rolling over in his grave.

    1. Zachi-nKY

Sell it then. Wake up, children in the average American child is no longer white. Disney is playing a long game and smart for it. They’re being culturally responsible because they know that every year more and more of the children coming will be more diverse. Maybe you can make a profit and try to reopen Heritage USA that Jim and Tammy Faye couldn’t make work. 😉

      1. John Strong

You base that in what? Your back-of-a-napkin marketing intuitions? Anyone who has worked within organizations like Disney will have noticed that the competition for talented staff, especially recent grads with university campus values, is extremely intense. Disney, like the tech companies, has to worry about more than one market. Pleasing employees is at least as important to them as pleasing customers.

      2. Sage

So you think that Hispanics, or Indians, or Asians, want this nonsense? Hell No! They are more family centered & conservative than Whites. Race does not effect or preclude parents from protecting their children from perverts. It’s a universal instinct.

  85. Dawn

Who would have thought that there were so many bigoted people that used to go to Disney parks, a place where a HUGE part of the CM’s are in the LGTB+ community. And when in the parks want those same CM’s to bend over backwards to give them everything they want. Good grief.

    1. Sage

No. We want Someone to bring us food & work the rides. We would vastly prefer they be nice normal kids from conservative families. If they are gay & want to put on a costume & dance that is fine but shut up about it. You are there to entertain not give opinions. Nobody cares what you do at home or what you think.

  86. MS

Disney stay away from politics …. Your job is to entertain ….

  87. Bo

Some comments about this article. First, have you even read the bill? Do you realize that the majority of Democrats in FL support it? It’s a Parental Rights Bill. The word “gay” is not even mentioned in the bill. It’s about not teaching gender ideology or giving sexual instruction to K – 3rd graders. If you think it’s okay to discuss sex with a 5 year old, you’re freaking creepy and it’s borderline pedo. Yet this is the stand that Disney is taking (which is probably the reason that he’s in trouble, I’m sure board members do not agree.) The HUGE walkout by employees mentioned in this article was ONE person in Orlando. ONE!!!! LOL!!! I believe the CA walkout was around 50-60, hardly a majority, and it’s not clear that these were all actual employees. This is being pushed by a few progressive upper management and executives. Yet they are silent about their support of China and CPP with their human rights abuses, including slave labor.

  88. freddie

Woke Disney CEO needs to apologize to Floridians and support the Florida Law that parents not teachers should decide what to teach grade school children about sex and gender.

    1. Trauma-informed Teacher, PHD

The funniest part of these comments has to be the conservatives upset that a corporation gets to make their own decisions privately in capitalism 🤣. Also they’re telling a company to stay out of politics, but the Supreme Court said that companies are people in Citizens United, and conservatives LOVE that case [also remember the bakery and the gay wedding]. I’m an expert on childhood trauma hired as an educational consultant for Southern conservative states on these issues. If I thought Disney was doing something wrong I would put them on blast like I have in published op-eds for public school districts, and other companies who have really endangered children. This is my life’s research and career. How many of you can say you work in adverse childhood experiences professionally with a PhD?

      1. Sage

What does this have to do with anything? Most every social worker, psychologist, ect are completely messed up themselves. I believe that is why they are drawn to that line of work, because they have such huge issues themselves. Usually want to tell you all about it & then borrow some money. Not impressed.

  89. david

how can ANYONE think talking to an elementary school child about mutilating your body to become another sex is in anyway appropriate. it is impossible to say that is ok to do, unless you are totally immoral

  90. Bruce

This CEO is in the process of destroying Disney as we know. Please remove this guy before it’s to late!!!!!

  91. Zachi-nKY

He’s not going anywhere. Money is the bottom line, and he’s made the parks more profitable by seeking more affluent guests that value diversity that don’t care about the freebie perks of the past. These fan sites are stuck catering to Disney uber-fans who are used to visiting yearly and accustomed to all the extras. Sure maybe it’s the tipping point for them, but it’s clear that the parks have their eyes on a new consumer. They are no longer devoted to the year after year guest on a budget or the annual pass guess. They want guests that visit less often and come without a budget.

    1. Sage

Well I fit the bill as far as no budget. I don’t care how much I spend, I want the nicest easiest time & will pay for it. I do Not value “diversity” though I am sick & tired of it. I don’t want these woke sickos even walking past my kids. Get rid of them. I also think you are wrong about the frequent return customers on a budget though. Those are the bread & butter in any industry.

  92. Bring back the dividends and do some buybacks and stop trying to psychologically control the children of the United States of America.

  93. Sage

Who cares if the employees walk out? Good Riddance. Do what the airlines do, hire at the first threat. 99% of families really do not want to deal with this type of riff raff anyway even to buy an ice cream. Anyone can wiggle around in a costume they are all easily replaceable. Your customer base is not & they do not want to deal with a bunch of queers & freaks much less scary looking transgenders whatever they are. Your little woke world who have replicated because of hiring more weirdos like themselves do not represent the America who wants to take their children to a theme park & shell out several thousand to do so. Most of your peon freaks could not even afford to do so. The Disney board had better clean house quick. You are not supporting your customer base at all
Let these unhappy ex employees move along to Key West & we will all be happier.

  94. Matthew Brewster

Put simply, PAYCHECK HAS GOT TO GO!!!!!!

  95. Stephanie

Overpriced tickets, ticket systems that are impossible to navigate, overpriced merchandise, decreasing the portions of food and charging more. I think most people are for inclusivity so long as we don’t have it forced down our throats or those of our children. The mouse has died. I have one final trip planned to Disney just to use my points and then we aren’t going back. The value just isn’t there any more. The experience of just having fun on a vacation is now regulated to watching your phone while on vacation. It’s a giant greed grab. Disney has all types of people who work there from all different religions, countries and beliefs. I am not going to tell you how to live but don’t tell me how to live and what to believe in either. If you read the entire bill as written the word “gay” is not mentioned. Why people are offended when the voters of Florida support the position that children under 8 years old in public schools shouldn’t be taught sex issues by their teacher is beyond me. It is my right to teach my children about sex and sexual orientation when they are ready. Let kids be kids. Growing up as a child thinking the stork delivered babies never harmed me or anyone else. I was traumatized when I was old enough just to understand sex let alone that there were different types of sexual relationships existed. Parents under the Florida constitution have a fundamental right to raise their children. I may not agree with how you raise your child so unless you think its fair for me to tell you how to raise your child what gives you the right to impose your beliefs on my children or for me as to your children?

  96. Jonathon N

Let’s hope that Chapek is allowed to finish his term at Disney. Taking him down now would hand a WIN to DeSantis.

DeSantis is a intense power seeking person who has attacked not only Disney but the cruise industry, Florida kids and schools and often California.

Taking Chapek out now (I’m not a fan either) is a victory of power over Disney and the LBGT community.

The power struggle prevails for DeSantis as it does for say a Putin or Trump.

  97. Mickeymouse3

The squeaky wheel gets the grease…as the saying goes. However, that squeaky wheel is just a small part of the machine. The majority of that machine is still intact and needs to be cared for as well.
Disney should stay out of politics, at least publicly anyway. Once they take a stance publicly, they alienate people from both sides.
You can please some of the people some of the time, but you cannot please all the people all of the time. A lesson Disney (Paycheck) apparently did not learn in his “grooming years”.

    1. Jessica

Canceled our subscription on Disney +, will not be purchasing any movies or merchandise and we will NEVER be returning to Disney World themeparks. Your agendas are wack. It’s one thing to make your own choices as an adult about sexuality but to groom children is disgusting.

  98. Kelly

Disney doesn’t care about the common people with families any longer! Tickets are outrageous along with food & parking, now adding more options to get additional money Genie +🤬 DVC members have been screwed over & so many people going to Universal instead!! Walt wanted families to enjoy but thanks to the pigs at the trough we can’t afford it anymore 🤬🤦🏻‍♀️🤬

  99. Kelly

Disney doesn’t care about the common people with families any longer! Tickets are outrageous along with food & parking, now adding more options to get additional money Genie +🤬 DVC members have been screwed over & so many people going to Universal instead!! Walt wanted families to enjoy but thanks to the pigs at the trough we can’t afford it anymore !

  100. LInda

Stop with the woke already!!!!!!! I for one am sick of it. It’s as though common sense is leaving Disney and other huge companies and being replaced with ridiculous notions that most people don’t agree with! Big business should STAY OUT of politics. We don’t need to be told how to think.

  101. Theresabetterway

Disney should stay out of politics. Don’t take either side left wing or right wing. Leave politics to the positions and the voters. It’s just that simple.

  102. #wokeDisneySucks

Walt Disney would be rolling in his grave if he knew what his company has become. If any of you LGBTQ people really think Disney cares about you more so than your money, you’ve been fooled.

  103. Dennis Zannoni

Disney was already on the decline. They seek dollars where ever they can get them. Now it will come from woke supporters. Tomorrow who knows but they won’t get any of my money or my families money. Already canceled Disney parks, movies, merch, etc. We don’t mind because we prefer learning about Jesus not fantasy.

    1. Beth

Woke disney! Bye bye bye! I’ve canceled as well. You want to mess with momma bears.. you got a fight on your hands, disney. They’re really bowing down to 1% Of LGBTQ. They are only 1% of the country you are going to screw over the other 99% that doesn’t believe in it, that’s really smart, I hope that 1% can bring you all the money you need for your stupid parks.

  104. Rob

My family had a former tradition of taking an annual 10-day trip to Disney World that lasted 20+ years. I spent my honeymoon there, birthdays, anniversaries, etc, but we stopped going in 2018 when the company started alienating people over thier political views. As a result, our family has found a new tradition of spending our annual time off fishing and soaking up the sun between Anna Maria Island and Siesta Key. Hate to say it, but good riddance to Disney and I will cherish the memories made there, but I will never return.

  105. Cynthia

I feel Disney does understand kids in under the 3rd grade dont need sex education. Middle school yes. Kids need to be kids for as long as they can. Parents want Disney to still be a dream to their kids.

  106. Roger Kirkland

First of all, for this article to even be relevant and truthful, it should explain its use of the term,”Don’t Say Gay Bill.” This is simply a lie and the term does not appear anywhere in the legislation. Calling this bill by this name is only to attempt to create anger and ire from the people who oppose it. They are, as usual, pushing false narratives. How ANYONE could oppose a bill that prevents teaching ANY idea of sexuality to young children is beyond comprehension. The bill does not insist that teachers instruct children with the normal, factual and scientific ideas of male and female, which are undisputed. Instead it omits ANY discussion of sexuality at all. Parents OWN the right and responsibility to instruct THEIR children in this area, not teachers, some of which only want to indoctrinate their own beliefs into young children. This has been proven by the resignations of some teachers who stated in their resignation letters that they were leaving BECAUSE they could not instruct children with their views of sexuality. Disney has NO business in this area. If its employees have problems with the bill then they can oppose it on their own time individually or as a group unaffiliated with Disney. Disney is an entity, not a person and in my opinion has no business in political affairs. Their leadership can as their employees oppose the legislation on their own as an individual not in the name of Disney. Chapek should have stuck with his original statement about not getting involved instead of bowing to the whims of those employees who oppose the bill. He should know that Disney not only serves a customer base of gay people but straight people too. He has thrown Disney into the fray over what in reality is a group of oppositional people who amount to around 5% of the population (recent studies show this figure) and has incited and ignored the other 95% who don’t oppose it.

  107. Al Wolfson

He’s like Biden, leading from behind. In the end, what is shown is a lack of passion for the position they claim to embrace, which inevitably falls short of achieving the objective and leaves the initiative with one’s adversaries. It’s clear to me that, in his heart, Chapek (sp?) could care less about the issue he’s groveling to his employees about. Ronald Reagan once fired all of the nation’s air traffic controllers rather than allow them to push him around. Chapek should consider Reagan’s example. Leadership and groveling are mutually exclusive.

  108. Michael Musso

Being woke is a sign of withdrawal from reality or insanity!
