Shrek 4-D was alright for its era …. but folks want an Attraction that’s equivalent to a Ride (anyone truly upset is probably toting a toddler on a stroller and is regretting the fact there is no longer a sit-down theatre where they can take their toddler to).
DreamWorks has plenty of intellectual property they can use to create a new experience (other words it doesn’t have to be just Shrek)….
Opinion – what is really a tragedy is the fact we still have a pandemic going on and people are dying in hospitals!
If you need recommendations for the next one to shut down please let it be the Fast and Furious “ride.” That one was a snooze fest and by the 30th “we are family” quote I was ready to throw myself from the bus.
I agree!!!!!! Shrek closing down is not a “tragedy”. A tragedy is something where there is loss of life or suffering. Please stop using words like “tragedy” and “catastrophe” (saw that one the other day in another of your articles), I don’t want to be mean but, I think look up what the words “tragedy” and “catastrophe” meen and use them properly in the future.
The Fallon ride was my favorite!! It was so much fun. Fast and furious was gawd awful. I’m glad I was able to be one of the last ones to ride Shrek yesterday.

On Amazon, one can purchase the Shrek 3D dvd; it’s the same as featured in this attraction. Modern home theater technology even VR has come a long way.
Agreed, this is one attraction that isn’t a tragedy to lose. Although my kid might be disappointed next time we go, it will be a quick moment of silence on the way to Diagon Alley.
I would’ve preferred Universal to shut down Fast & Furious and the Jimmy Fallon ride before they touched Shrek. Both are awful and there’s far too many screen based rides in Universal now.
At least Shrek could appeal to the whole family.
Been to both universal theme parks,I prefer shrek over Kung fu panda . Heck I enjoyed terminator as well. But virtual rides are cheaper and taking over. So I’m guessing another virtual show. Oh well.
Totally agree. Nothing tragic about this. It’s literally business as usual at any theme park.
ITM has gone downhill since Ricki left.
Y’all should do better.
Actually, Shrek will be coming back. Their plan for that attraction is to play many different Dreamwork movies, hence why the outside of the attraction is a movie theater now.
No big deal, that space housed something before Shrek and will house something after Shrek.
Yes, F&F is a terrible ride, a huge disappointment, great potential rendered moot.
The KK and Fallon attractions, despite a generally better overall look, are nearly as bad.
But, worst of all, is the writing on this site!
Damn! It’s been me and my partner’s first stop every since we began visiting over a decade ago. It’s been such a huge part of our relationship! 🥺 Add Rumple and his goose, do something…honk.
I don’t understand why it has to be shut down. Why not keep it and add the Kung fu Panda All the money and conglomeration Disney has become they could keep building and adding all the time. Shrek is one of the coolest ! Love it❤️🤷♀️❤️
This is awful news, children and old people will miss this. We went 2 weeks ago and loved it. Hopefully they’ll replace it with something family friendly. There are very few rides/attractions that this demographic can manage. Think about it: What can you do with Grandma, Grampa and your 5 year old at both parks?
It’s not tragic. That ride, if you can even call it that, is horrifically boring. It’s right at the front of the park, too, so you’re mad at yourself for wasting valuable time on it when you could have kept going and invested the time in waiting for a ride that is actually fun.

Just got back from universal…not impressed with any of it,even Harry Potter….

There is no “pandemic” going on here!!! It’s a Flu virus variant. And, people are NOT dying in hospitals.

James
Kimmel has a ride?
Juice me

It’s Jimmy Fallon, not Kimmel.

Yup. I saw that with another article. I guess “tragically” is the new “litereraly” now.

I guess “tragically” is now the new “literally”.

I think using the word tragically is a bit much.. It’s just a stupid ride

It actually closed yesterday (1/9) and this article made it sound like it closes today. So we missed out on riding it yesterday.
Teresa
Kids might miss it. The biggest loss to me EVER was Jaws! That was a masterpiece if ever there was one! I haven’t been back since.
Vanette Hines
Hey this not good my grands love shrek that’s why I have season tickets, now how I’m going explain this to all 6 of them, can I get a refund!!!
Vanette Hines
Shut down fast and furious that ride was awful, not shrek, that was family isn’t this why Disney Disney for the familY! Foreal!
Jamie
That one was truly awful, too. Definitely a missed opportunity for an exciting ride, considering the movies.

I love the Shrek movies and enjoyed the ride. It’s sad when they close a ride and don’t put an exciting ride in its place.
