In my opinion, Bob Iger should not return because I think he is just as greedy and careless as Chapek is. A proper Disney CEO that actually cares about the true purpose of the parks like Epcot, that he/she would want to undo some of the controversial changes and put appropriate ones while being creative and not buying more companies would benefit the company better than Iger and Chapek ever did.
P.s
In case you don’t notice, there are also other Disney fans who also don’t want Iger back either like myself.
I’m all for kicking Chapek to the curb, but not if it means getting Iger BACK:
We waited six years of Iger retirement-watch to see whether the coast was clear for re-releasing Song of the South, and the bum kept moving the dates…
And let’s not forget Iger’s overenthusiastic habit of dictating more unnecessary sequels to Pixar just because he had a marketing push to promote:
I like Toy Story Land at the Studios, but “Toy Story 4” was a slap in the face to fans. And let’s not even bring up Incredibles 2 and the former California Screamin’.
I would like him to go. Why you can’t please everyone in any situation the changes that came to the fast pass, certain perks for hotel guests, the change of the Disability service, the creation and implementation of the Disney Genie, and lightning lane, and overall perception of Disneys unfavorable reviews today, if he’s the person that can fix it and has not, then he must go….
In 2020, Bob Iger had abruptly placed Chapek into the CEO position. (Both Bob Iger and Bob Chapek were originally hired by Michael Eisner. ) — Meanwhile, Michael Eisner is officially back with Disney – doing a hairpin turn (he calls “tornante” in Italian) – Yes, Disney officially lists Michael Eisner as being their “partner” – in which they are co-branding every Disney character, movie, Disney theme parks, Disney + streaming and official Disney events. Whatever happens, at Disney, it is still is all part of Eisner’s master plan.
No. Iger did not place Chapek into the role. Iger had a successor in mind. Chapek succeeded Iger to Iger’s shock. Google the article in The Hollywood Reporter. Iger and Chapek are from 2 different galaxies
Iger is no different than Chapek. He’s the one who bought all kinds of non-Disney junk such as Fox and don’t know what to do with it. Iger bulldozed Disney Quest for no reason and turned it into the worthless NBA Experience. Iger started charging for hotel parking at $35/day. Iger started Disney+, which will never make any money; it doesn’t make any sense to pay for such an odd thing. Chapek is simply continuing where Iger left off and is still chairman, by the way, so everything is done with his blessing.
Iger was the closest we got to Walt Disney. Iger understands the legacy, the magic, and more importantly the fans. I’ve met him 3 times. He walked among the crowds at Disneyland stopping to chat to whoever wanted to talk. He spoke respectfully & kindly to cast members at the parks and hotels. Chapek gets heckled and boo’d. Iger built Disney Corp into the number 1 entertainment corp that it is today acquiring Lucas, Marvel, Pixar, etc. He fixed DCA, and Disneyland. Chapek has dismantled the parks, the APs, he’s charging DOUBLE for APs. He’s now being sued for his bait & switch on the top tier AP. His park res system is corrupt, blocking top tier APs while allowing ticket holders on those supposed sold out days. Charging hundreds for previously included services such as photopass, memory maker. Ending Magic Express. The lightning lane is costing parkgoers hundreds on top.of their ticket or AP. He’s laid off nearly 30k employees *unnecessarily*. He’s told the Imagineers that they move from Burbank to Lake Nona Florida or they lose their jobs. Leaving Burbank? Where the Imagineers have always been. Now Chapek wants to get into ONLINE GAMBLING?! He’s publicly disrespected a cast member of the Avengers. He gutted both Galaxys Edge lands and eviscerated the Star Wars Starcruiser Hotel into looking like Star Trek – ….cue the next customer class action against Chapek for bait & switch. The Disney Hotels are over $1k per night! Chapek has been a disaster. Look at Avengers Campus – that’s 100% Chapek it’s 90% retail and a Legoland kiddie ride.
I hope Bob Chapek is fired asap. While I’d rather have someone other than Iger, he couldn’t do any worse than Bob Paycheck, er…Bob Chapek.
I love all things Disney. Heck for my 40th birthday, my wife got me a Disney silicone cake pan. My family room is decorated in Disney. But the last time I went to Disney World was the first time I’d ever not had a good time. Everything costs so much more, the value is virtually gone, the meal plan is gone, and normally we take advantage of the Fast Pass option, but the Lightning Lane isn’t worth the price imho, plus Splash Mountain was broke down the entire time we were there, and park spending, from what I’ve read, is at an all time low. Chapek needs to go.
Eisner who gave us the Jules Verne Tomorrowland? The disastrous DCA 1.0? Iger made Disney what it is today – the parks, movies, Marvel, Lucas, Pixar, Galaxys Edge (before Chapek cut the budget and the additional attractions)
Some of them were out of greed and he did was making the parks out themed when Hollywood Studios is supposed to be Hollywood movie magic, it Star Wars Themed only. Also, The Great Movie Ride shows us what tiger park is all about. But Iger is misusing it. Also, he showed no respect for hand drawn animation, like what attempted to do with the Mary Poppins sequel by attempting to make the animated characters CGI, before workers convinced him otherwise. At least Eisner had more respect and ran the place properly, and listens to real customers.
We have been to Disney World over 30 times. We have a very large family, 4 of whom have worked at Disney over the years. Paid parking at the hotels, Paying for Easy Pass Lightning and light staffing is just not the way Walt Disney would have imagined families having fun. I and a few of my family will not be providing for the current CEO’s bottom line. Bring back Iger or get a new CEO who realizes that when families go to Disney Parks and enjoy themselves, they will continue to follow Disney for years to come. It is not heading in that direction currently, even though you bottom line looks okay now. It won’t in the future.
WDW has become so complicated and all the spontaneity has been sucked out. Mobile ordering, park reservations, parking fees at resorts, Lightning Lanes, individual ride fees, the fun has just been removed. I don’t believe most people want to be attached to their phones in order to explore the parks, have meals or reserve fast passes. While Chapeck may not have created these things they happened on his watch and “the magic” disappeared.
I agree with you William 100%, sadly unless things change I think around 7 years ago I saw the best of Disney, now days its fallen far short and is so obvious a Cash Grab Nickle and Dime the magic has gone. There is little to no incentive to stay on property and at every turn to save a buck but charge you more, Disney use Covid as the excuse. I will miss you Disney, but I for one and my family have moved over to Universal and will give Disney the thumps DOWN. Not going to waste my money on them. They need to remove Paycheck and I believe Iger should go to. They need new blood, someone that actually cares about the Disney reputation, which is currently in tatters right now.
Replacing Bob Chapek will not solve Disney World’s biggest problem… Capacity.
After years of building resort hotels and DVC resorts, the parks don’t have enough capacity to handle the demand. This leads to a lousy guest experience. This problem started under Bob Iger.
Disney World needs at least 2 more gates. Disney World needs to stop building resorts until they have enough park capacity to satisfy demand.
Thankfully, Universal is smart enough to get ahead of demand by building a new gate before their parks get completely overcrowded like Disney’s.

Disney cast members apparently received email that Bob Iger to return as CEO.

In my view, I’d rather have none of them because they are all greedy and careless, even if they mention some of the company’s history.
