I absolutely love the E.T ride! I went on it in the early 90’s at Universal Studios Hollywood. I was around 10 years old at the time. Being just a kid, I thought it was awesome that he said my name as I was exiting the ride!
Reading this article brought back so many memories. ❤

With that being said, it really makes me sad that Universal has gotten rid of some of the best rides of all time! Back in 2017 I took my kids to the Hollywood location, and I was talking up the studio tour ride. Telling them how cool it was, etc. Oh. My. Gosh. It was the lamest ride ever! Everything was changed to computer screen. No animatronics whatsoever. Super disappointed.

You think thats lame, pretty soon we’re all gonna be wearing metaverse goggles in a motion simulation ride vehicle in an empty metal building, and they’ll market it as “high tech”. The world is going to crap.

Omg I just said the same thing…we are moving to a virtual world…on another note we were super disappointed with ET…I rode it many years ago but it was definitely not the same…and there were technical difficulties as well…

Ride it every time I’m there! Rode it 2 weeks ago! Showing it’s age, but I can suspend reality for a few minutes to go back when my friend and I got steak preview passes to ET, then wore the buttons we were given to school that day and everyone asked what’s ET?!

I Love E.T. Please don’t ever close it. We ride it at least 3 times when in the park. It’s number 1 on our list.

The E.T. ride is still one of my favorites. We rode it two weeks ago during the Orlando Informer Meetup. But those ET passports never work. ET never says our names. It’s always an entire different group of names.

The E.T. ride is a classic and I look forward to riding it each time we visit. I’ve been riding this since Universal Orlando opened. I was there in 2018 and rode it multiple times. If you grew up watching this movie and the magic moved you, and then you rode this ride the magic will stay with you. Some people just aren’t moved by things like this and that is okay. I do think the majority of people love it. It would be nice to see it updated a bit but flying over on bikes with and E.T. saying your name as you leave, that’s the best!

ET is the number one attraction. It spans so many generations and gives a feeling of comfort like an old friend. Rode it 20 years ago with my son and now with my grandchildren. Please never change it.

exactly. the fact that it’s showing its age is part of the charm in a way. it’s a very old and difficult to maintain attraction, it’s almost like riding a piece of history when you get on it. so I can deal with funky animatronics sometimes.

This is the type of ride Universal and Disney need more of. Quit being cheap a$$es and stop it with the video screens. That’s not a ride or experience, it’s me watching a giant tv. I can do that up home.

yeah i can’t stand those screens on velocicoaster and hagrid’s, so annoying! i prefer to ride them right there at home in the comfort of my living room, it’s much easier

    1. Alicia Stella is one of the most annoying, know it all, obnoxious theme park “bloggers” out there. I could care less what she posts, if I wanted to see it, I’d follow her on Twitter.
    2. It’s literally working again.

I’ve only been to Universal in Florida once and my favorite part of the ride was hearing ET saying good-bye Mary, good-bye Barb! That was way back when Universal was brand new! I also liked Jaws. When that shark leapt up right at the edge of the boat everybody jumped!
