Thank you for posting this clip. What an amazing backstory that we POTC fans did not get to see. I’m a fan of Depp’s. I know firsthand that he’s been extraordinarily generous with his time and talent for sick children with a number of charities. He’s known to spend an inordinate amount of time with the children, in character no less. He doesn’t publicize this, which also speaks volumes. I don’t want to see Captain Jack re-cast. Depp is Captain Jack, Disney needs to leave it be.

This very story is laid out in the prequel book, not series, and is rather amusing.

I’ve never seen the movie without this scene in it, so I don’t understand why it’s called a “deleted scene” in this article…

The scene was deleted prior to being released to theaters. In addition to that scene, there’s one where Governor Swann wanted to stab the Heart of Davy Jones before Jones informed him of the curse that he placed on it.

    2. Sarah

Likewise. I keep hearing that this scene was deleted, but I distinctly recall it, and I KNOW it is on my Bku Ray as it is one of my very favorite scenes from the entire series

  4. I am a proud fan of Depp too. I DON’T WANT the Captain Jack Sparrow character re cast. Johnny IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE, Captain Jack Sparrow. He deserves to be in Pirates 6. And hope he still will. The movie should not be remade. PERIOD.

I wish they wouldn’t have deleted this scene as it’s quite telling about Jack’s character! I guess it’s just one of Disney’s mistakes like letting Johnny Depp go!

That’s nice on real life. It would have created confusion and killed the selfish personality and comedy. It is not real life. It is not real life. It is fantasy.

Adding my voice in agreement! Johnny Depp IS Jack Sparrow.

    Love that deleted scene!

Disney needs to stop being part of the cancel culture. All the fairytales are fairytales that teach morales, but they are fairytales. Get over it. Your wokeness is not awake, it is sleeping. Life happens. We can improve life and this country has done more to improve life for people stop trying to take away freedoms with your wokeness. As my mother once told me. Life isn’t fair. People will make fun of you. Laugh and live your life be kind enjoy every day. Live life to the fullest. Wokeness is destroying all of that. Canceling people is not the answer.

Pretty sure ive seen that scene in the movies at some point. Maybe a different cut for different regions?

It’s interesting that Disney still doesn’t acknowledge that Depp is the victim! My family and I will never watch anything Heard is in! Disney should apologize to Johnny Depp!

    1. Cheri

I agree 100%! Johnny Depp will always be Jack Sparrow! I will never watch anything with Heard in it! I am one of the biggest Disney fans but Disney has disappointed me this time.

This scene is still in the movie to this day. I even rewatched it to check. Maybe it was deleted in a different country or something. If not then you’re spreading false information.

I’ll bet the scene was deleted in the theatrical release but restored on the DVD.

    2. Sarah

      Ditto!

    Johnny Depp is Captain Sparrow

Maybe it was the line at the end “With a frilly linen napkin and a spicy banana on the side” ….. Get it? Think about it.
It sort of indicates Beckett is bi-sexual.

Either way it is a great scene that sets up the back story and should have been left in, but might have been taken out because it didn’t add anything and to shorten an already long film.

I agree with everyone who posted about Johnny Depp’s good nature. As many who have followed the divorce and defamation case between Johnny and Amber. It has finally come to light that Amber had not only fabricated the whole beating but, she has done this sort of false fabrication to other men. Playing the lonely victim when, in fact, SHE was the perpetrator abd aggressor the whole time.
I say Amber should not only have to publicly ADMIT her wrong doings but be heavily fined and JAILED for ruining a good man’s reputation and livelihood. Because Johnny was NEVER the horrible man Amber made everyone believe he was. She may still face jail time for sneaking her dogs secretively in Australia, violating their very strict customs law. Let’s hope a good man’s reputation is restored properly back in its place, and the woman behind its smearing is properly punished.

As much as I do not subscribe to wide beating or violence in marriage, what happened between Johnny Depp and his wife was a private affair. Why would Disney have to interfere and use that to destroy a man’s career and destiny? Anyway, Disney and the other companies that have removed Depp should realize that their action will also affect the movies this great actor has starred in and created a legendary name for himself. Stay strong Johnny, things will turn out fine in the end.

Davy Jones says 100 souls to keep him from losing the pearl again and having to serve on his ship. That didn’t have to do directly with the 100 slaves. (unless it is implied that Davy expected the 100 slaves sparrow Freed to die at sea.

    1. AngelaEatsMusic

Exactly! Thank you for pointing that out! Obviously an avid fan, like myself. The 100 souls were to keep The Black Pearl, or else give his soul to Jones, as was the original plan when he first raised the ship.

    Just one thought,
Is the article inspired by the book or taken from the comments under the video 7 years ago?

Not accusing you of anything, just some of the comments are exactly like parts of the article, word for word.

As much as I love Disney, I do NOT agree with their treatment of Johnny Depp. He is the one and only Jack Sparrow. This scene should never hsve been cut. Johnny Depp has been given a bad hand by Hollywood these last few years. Not deserved IMO

  18. Ariel Del Valle

I think Disney is making a big mistake on this move Jack Sparrow made the movie a successful one without Jack sparrow the movie is wack Johnny Depp is a tremendous actor and I fully support him these allegations are proven to be false so why the media and Disney continue to discredit this man I personally don’t like Disney but I do love Pirates of the Caribbean cause I’m a fan of Depp not up for a debate in my mind Johnny should get hi respect in Hollywood that he deserves
