This is not good. Do you realize how incredibly long that line will be. So either blow 2-3 hours in line or pay to skip it. I guess the only silver lining is that it should clear more crowds from other attractions as they will have to wait for it instead of riding other rides while they wait.
Exactly. They need an actual queue to absorb crowds, which will inevitably be larger since it’s the 50th. Also, a lot of people will choose RotR as Individual Attraction Selection, so it’s an obvious cash grab for Disney as well.
It’s about time they open access to everyone. Not everyone has a phone, nor does everyone want to be buried in their phone all day long. The concept of just experiencing attractions on a whim is fading fast at Disney. As an annual passholder, you can’t even go whenever you wish without planning it out well in advance.
This is a step in the right direction. That whole virtual queue crap should be go away. It punishes that who are trying to disconnect from the world. The whole reason the Magic Kingdom and other theme parks at WDW are so isolated from the outside is just that – to keep the outside world out. Now unfortunately, you’re forced to be buried in your phone which is where the vast majority of people get news updates every few minutes, never-ending social media feeds, and more. You are far less likely to experience the entire environment as you are forced to keep your head buried in your phone. The ability to enter a place that is outside of your normal daily life is all but gone now.
If a line is long, let it be long. People will not be happy with a long line, but if they choose to wait, let them. That’s what high demand attractions have. That is normal everywhere. Let a line be long. It’s part of the experience. You’re not forced to wait in it for crying out loud.
Of course they’re doing this now. They want long lines so folks step up and buy the lightning pass for a ridiculous amount. If there’s a virtual queu there is no need to pay for it. Instead you get you number and enjoy your day. Now you either pay up or stand in line for a long time. It’s always about the money. And Disney excels at gouging their guests lately. Shameful.
its a total lie that Disney knows or cares what fans want. Greedy man chapek knows what he wants and only cares what he wants. I say let all the folks stand in line for several hours for a ride I am not interested in anyway so maybe other rides are more available. Too bad for star wars fans.
Disney wouldn’t make any money if they stay with the Virtual Queue when the new lightning pass starts. I’m assuming they will figure a way to make us pay for a different kind of Virtual Queue and then reinstate it when they figure it out. In the meantime they will take what they can. It’s not them feeling bad for people who never get to ride it, they are just looking for more ways to charge for everything.
“Thanks to feedback from our guests” It’s about time they listened. Maybe people who had no luck with that stupid phone queue will finally have a chance to ride now.

About a long as any other new, high demand ride, then it will eventually calm down. This way has worked for literally decades.

It’s about darn time!! The idea of playing the lottery to hopefully win a ticket to ride is just stupid.

I think this would be great for single riders, especially if you get in at the rope drops!

I got it on my first and only try when I went in December of 2019. It was pretty new then.
