Credit: DisneyAt Walt Disney World, we tend to see attractions temporarily close each day due to maintenance issues or weather which makes the attraction unsafe to ride. When those closures happen, Guests have to pay attention to their My Disney Experience app, as they will typically reopen to Guests shortly after.
However, when a ride is being refurbished, Guests will know ahead of time if they check the Walt Disney World Resort refurbishment calendar for their desired Park days. If a ride is under refurbishment, this means that during its closure it will not reopen until it is listed to do so.
We tend to see water attractions undergo seasonal refurbishments, closing down once the weather begins to cool down and reopening again in the spring. Now, it seems that Kali River Rapids has announced that it will be shutting its doors, but only for a few weeks. We previously saw the attraction under refurbishment for three months this year, reopening in March. Kali River Rapids is now set to close for refurbishment once again on November 1 through to November 19.
Due to the short nature of this closure, it seems that there may be actual changes coming to the ride as a seasonal closure would be for a much longer period of time. We will have to stay tuned to see what comes on November 19, as Disney has not announced any dramatic changes that will be coming to the attraction, so it may be maintenance-based.

Guests wishing to remain dry are encouraged to bring a waterproof poncho, extra clothes or a towel to dry off.Lockers for mobile devices and other items you want to stay dry are located across from the entrance to Kali River Rapids and are available during your ride (on a first-come, first-served basis).
