Might also be because the virtual queue online didn’t seem to work on Iphone due to a javascript error. Unless guests had access to a PC or a device capable of running javascript they were unable to purchase an annual pass online. Because of this, the phone lines were busy (couldn’t even get through) for most of the day as well.
I think the main issue here is Disney Springs is the only free parking in Disney World if you aren’t already a passholder. They should offer to refund your parking fee so you can buy or activate at a regular ticket window without having to worry about parking fees.
When people stop giving into Disney, Disney will be forced to change. But I don’t see that happening, too many people are addicts. I was once as well. We had annual Disneyland passes for five years and I ate, breathed, and slept Disney. But there is more to life than Disney.
Maybe Disney should have had a fastpass line to get passes .. oh wait maybe they should have charged each guest 50 bucks to wait in a line that a whole bunch of other people paid to be in as well …. So instead of waiting 6 hrs they would have waited 2 but paid for it!!!
We were annual passholders for several years because it was worth it even if we went once a year. Then they jacked up the price so much it was no longer a benefit. Sorry folks but Disney has lost a lot of magic with all of their money grabs and reduction of offers. We have not stayed on property for many years finding that hotel costs outside plus parking fees is still a lot cheaper and with the addition of parking fees that makes it even better.
I waited *maybe* 5 minutes online. Can’t wait to use my passes this weekend! The reservation system is easy peasy. They pay for themselves in about 6 1/2 visits for me and my kid. It’s a good freakin deal! If you’re over Disney, that’s fine but it’s a business at the end of the day. They’re not going to keep losing money on purpose. I’m going to use the heck out of these passes.
Capitalism, amirite? Prices on just about everything are going up. Let’s not get into the wages or economic disparities discussion though. We have bigger problems for sure.
I’m in no rush to restart my AP… parks are still not open availability for AP members even though they’re nowhere near CDC- modified capacity on many weekdays. I am still waiting for a $100 refund from closing my monthly payment plan in July 2020… the only response I could get (even from a Supervisor) was “you’ll get it eventually. Nobody knows when and there’s nobody to ask. Just keep watching your bank account for it.” even though when we closed the contract we were told it would be returned within 60 days!
Have you looked into FTC Regulations to see if they apply to your situation? It’s quite absurd that Disney can’t handle this. They can. They just don’t think it’s a priority because it doesn’t benefit them.
After my annual pass expires I will not renew it.. Prices along with having to still make reservations is a deal breaker for my family. Good luck to those that still buy these passes.
Annual passes are what are crowding the parks. Disney has to decide “is it a vacation spot” or “a drop in anytime you want some fun or a special treat to eat”? Before annual passes, people had to make it a special occasion to take a family vacation or treat out of town guests and pay the regular entry fee. Annual passes allow ones to pay less and crowd the parks anytime they want. Yes, Disney has tried to stop the biggest problem of overcrowding by many schemes that cost extra, but refuse to see how annual passes are the real cause of overcrowding. You talk about Disney being greedy but how about the pass holder thinking they need to be there regularly isn’t that greedy also? Think about it “ When you’re there many times a year somebody with a once a year trip can’t be!”
I believe this is why there are block out dates for pass holders on the first 3 tiers. I cannot go during peak vacation times when vacationers are likely to be in the parks. And that’s a win-win. Obviously I don’t want to go when the park is crowded and they get to enjoy the parks because I can’t get reservations at those times.
Disney created this issue. They were vague for months about when APs would return. Had they simply said months ago, “APs will be back before October”, lots of people who bought regular tickets would have waited. Instead, they danced around the subject, so it’s chaos now
Yes we do! $4 for each fountain drink for starters. We never get out under $100 per visit and we sometimes bring our lunch!). Disney knows this which is why I think they keep the AP tickets. We’re going Wednesday because they are offering APs to ride Ratatouille before it opens to the general public October 1st. They gave us several dates to choose from. That’s just one perk to entice us to go. They know we’ll spend money on top of our monthly payments. But it’s our therapy for this crazy world. Jesus and Disney keeps us smiling.
I was already at animal kingdom on release day and I had no line to buy one at guest relations and 5 minutes later. I was a easy peezy experience and my girl and I are now passholders!

If you show them the receipt they will apply it to your ticket. We did this yesterday at Disney studios

I waited almost as long online and at the end of the day I had an issue that wasn’t resolved. 6 hours of my day on the phone with Disney……

Agree… And half the time a ride or two is down .. and good luck not being stuck on the monorail for over 20 minutes…

Yes a business but for the average family Disney is pricing them out .. can’t even get a ice cream on a stick for under 7 bucks… C’mon man…

Yup, buying was a snap. And, after 6 visits, it becomes the equivalent of free admission and parking for the rest of the year.

Nope, didn’t wait ! Too much for too little.

I didn’t wait either, didn’t have to, went online, pressed the buttons, done. It took as long as how fast I was able to type.

Overpriced and over crowded. Waiting in long lines with misbehaving strangers. There is more to life than Disney. It’s just not worth it.

The system is broken. How dare they expect people to wait 7 hours. The magic is long gone.
