Social distancing at s theme park doesn’t allow anyone to claim a space especially at s fireworks display. I would have politely asked her to move the bag for I, my wife or daughter to sit or I’d remove the bag myself. Instead of arguing or fighting I would have asked for security yo respond.

    1. Kenneth

Yeah, you do not get the right to touch someone’s property

    2. Melissa

And they would’ve escorted your entitled self out.

    3. Melissa

Yeah and they would’ve escorted your entitled self out.

Interesting to read some people resorting to politicizing this incident. IMHO, at this time of day, EVERYONE are tired and pretty much burned-out. And this straw of an encounter was all it took to break the camel’s back of civility.

    4. Christopher B

John Wright touch someones property these days and youll have your ass handed to you. Hands off means hands off. What would give you the right to even think about putting your hands on a strangers property?

    5. Nicole

Touch my bag and thats the last thing you will touch

    6. Gerry polin

He’s a left winger lib nut that doesn’t care about private property rights so obviously he’s fine with grabbing peoples things and moving them thinking he can do whatever he wants with them. next it’s I want your mickey bar ice cream so I can just take it. Unreal

      1. Adrienne

You’re about as ignorant as the right wing comes. Stop the hate.

      2. Ezequiel Ambrosio

Omg I was at Epcot that night on August 3 cauz it was my birthday. However I wasn’t in the Canada section of the park I was kinda close to the big sphere ball viewing the fireworks.

    7. Glen

It actually does John. As for your “behavior”, it’s completely unacceptable and you will get rightfully tossed out.

    8. Tony

What makes you think you can just move someone’s property? Educate yourself.

    9. Jeff

You touch my property, there will be a problem. It is bad enough this lady wanted too start something. The bench is first come first serve.

    10. John

I agree. If you want to social distance. Stand somewhere alone

  2. No Special Snowflakes

Lexie is an entitled little Gen-Z / millennial snowflake. Those seats are for tired guests… not your magic little backpack.

    1. Kelly Mae

Did you not read the original story it was linked from? She’s 47 years old…

    2. Jeff

Did you not read the story or are you illiterate?

  3. Alex

I understand the disagreement people might have over seating and distancing… But that’s no excuse to get physical or try to intimidate anyone

    1. Poopsy

Of the 6 comments so far, this is the only one that doesn’t sound moronic. Thank you sir.

      1. Florida Native

Agreed. I love all the Conservatives that comment on this site. Disney isn’t for non creative hateful bigots like you. Why do you even go when all you do is whine about “woke” stuff? Oh right because you’re so desperate for likes on social media and bragging about going to the most cliche place for vacation in the US.

        1. Other Florida native

Oh no. He had a thoughtful comment and you went and messed it up with that political rhetoric.

        2. Meltiggeer

What? Florida Native how about you not throw in a bunch of political stuff?

  4. Nate

Wow this women flew here went to a theme park and she’s worried about social distancing I’m glad you got pushed in the bushes

  5. elon

Lexie dear you don’t get to use your belongings to force others to social distance.

    1. Melissa

Elon dear you don’t get to enter people’s space. Your parents should’ve taught you better.

  6. Kenneth

Wow..the level of jerks shown by “Disney fans” here.

    You never assault someone. Period

    1. Candace

Exactly! Thank you! Someone here even brought in Politics. Left vs Right. conservatives vs Liberals. We are so divided. People have lost their ever loving mind. Thank you for your post!!!

  7. Truly a disturbing incident!
Not based on the individuals who were sitting down QUIETLY, not causing any disruptions until these self entitled pushy patrons decided it was their rights to demand 1 park bench out of dozens located within EPCOT was theirs to sit in. The demanding brats should be treated as such!!!

    1. Htk

Apparently you are handicapped in your ability to read and comprehend the situation. These are the large benches near the Canada Pavillon adjacent to the stage. It was during fireworks and everyone was congregated to the areas around the lagoon. These two self-entitled leftist snowflakes who flew to central Florida (delta capital of the nation) during a high-volume summer season decided that they wanted to social distance during the most climactic even of the evening when there isn’t space to go around.

      1. Dave jones

She said she had a Trump keychain on her bag. I’m thinking that makes her not a leftist lol

    2. The Bookbag

Lol are you definition stupid or have you never been to Disney. Show me a park bench that has a fireworks view available during the fireworks show. No such thing. People sit hours before the fireworks to get that. Now in your liberal head. Factor the crowed level 2 years ago and times it by 2. Esp at Epcot cause only 2 parks have nighttime shows now. I go to Disney 3-5 times a week so this is facts and yes I know more about this than you. Stop snowflaking and grow up. Gotta put yourself in others shoes not your entitled self. Looser

  8. Another normal Disney fan

Sounds like lexi should stay hone next time. Never ever okay to physically assault anyone. BUT, you are in a crowded theme park at the height of busy season. I would advise her to stay home if she’s that concerned that it turned into this…

    1. Al

Let’s be social distance at the end of the day.

    2. Meltigger

You do understand Lexi did not start the physical aspect of this? People ran up and got in her face. I don’t many are thinking how much space we are taking about here. A bag is not big, 18inches at the biggest. I would never sit so close to a stranger anyway.

  9. Derek

You do not get the right to claim park bench property. I’m just gonna go to soaring and toss my bags in each seat so I get a whole section. No it doesn’t work like that. This isn’t 5th grade save my seat.

  10. Travis James

Never gonna figure out a Dems mind. Your book is not a place holder. Does it stand in line for you? Does it have a park ticket? What kind of food does it like? Who did the bookbag vote for? Oh wait it’s a bookbag not a registered American with ID, I think we know who. If you don’t want to share the bench get the F up and go somewhere else. GTFO worried about social distancing. The parks are more jammed than ever before.. I got 3-5 times a week for ebay merchandise sales so I prob know. F that liberal bookbag.

    1. Kelly Mae

It’s funny you should mention that. When we talked to her she mentioned that she has a Trump 2024 tag on her backpack and she thought that made the other guy upset. Can’t put that in the article though…

  11. Jason

Unfortunately for this couple the benches are meant to be sit on. You can’t claim social distancing to keep an entire bench for yourself. People are tired from being In the heat all day and want to relax. Fireworks or not the benches are meant for guests to rest, not to set your luggage on. Still no right to get physical, the guests should have asked a cast member to resolve the situation.

  12. Sue

It’s doesn’t surprise me the . It’s Disney it gets crowded . If you want to put your backpack next to you Bc you don’t want someone sitting next to you I suggest you go back home and not to Disney the tourists capital of the world. And everyone is worry about getting sick then stay home and out of Florida.

    1. Tony

The police never do themselves any favors. Do the job the taxpayers pay you yo do and let the District Attorneys office decide how to move forward with a prosecution of alleged crimes. That is how the system works.

  13. Violet

So maybe Lexi and her boyfriend wanted to social distance or were they just trying to keep the bench to themselves. We may never know. I can see where both sides of this situation have a legitimate argument. Do I think the other parties had a right to start a physical fight? No way! Sounds like pure trash behavior. They are just lucky Lexi wasn’t me. I can guarantee I wouldn’t be the one in the bushes. It does sound like the sheriffs office could have done a better job as well.

  14. Juniper Lee

Self entitled woke leftists think they can demand to sit anywhere and the other idiots who would like to social distance in a crowded park?

  15. If you want social distancing don’t go to Disney I think the couple on the bench were wrong if you don’t want to sit close to anybody stay home and as far as the police they do their job and yes you would have to show up if you’re pressing charges that’s all over the country obviously you don’t know that

  16. Hard to believe that the incident was not recorded on surveillance cameras. Disney has cameras everywhere. Sounds to me me like the sheriffs office didn’t want to be bothered. Despite the frustration felt by the people who wanted the woman to move her bag, their response was completely inappropriate and illegal. If they felt like they had the right to share the bench with these strangers, they should have contacted a cast member, not resorted to cursing and fighting I order to get their way. When someone is rude to you, it does not give you the right to put your hands on them. They were lucky they didn’t pick a fight with someone equally as unstable. These days people lose control for ridiculous reasons (case in point here). It’s an embarrassment that children have to witness adults acting like this. Disney is supposed to be a happy place and has always been a refuge for kids and families to experience magic outside of the daily grind of media, covid, crime and politics. Very sad.

  17. Jab

There no social distance policy in Disney. Just masks in doors. What Lexi did was wrong and her boyfriend made it worse. They both should be charged for disorderly conduct. Who does she think she is blocking a seat like that?

    1. Adrienne

You’re about as ignorant as the right wing comes. Stop the hate.

  18. Jeanette Pasquale

I was verbally assaulted on a Disney bus outside of the Contemporary hotel in January 2020 while the driver was strapping my scooter in. While driving the scooter onto the bus and into the assigned spot I got close to but did not touch a teenage passenger. I apologized saying I wasn’t used to it. I had cancer and a broken back. The girl then started freaking out jumping on the seat etc. I said there was no need for the drama. Her mother then got in my face screaming at me that her daughter had an knee injury (she was wearing a 5k medal as it was race week. Guess that injury wasn’t too bad). The entire bus started screaming at me to “get off the f’ing bus”. I had been stationary for most of the time with the driver over me buckling me in place. By this time I was in tears. Family members are not allowed on with you so my adult kids were watching from outside not knowing what was happening. The driver didn’t say or do anything. I finally told him to let me off as clearly this was an unsafe situation for me and my family. I reported him to Disney security. I never got an apology. Took us 2 hours to get from the Contemporary to Kidani Village where we were staying. Needless to say….not a magical night!

  19. Michael Lewis

Move the backpack. If you want to social distance, stay home

  20. Anon

Why on earth would you go to a fireworks show if you are worried about social distancing? You know they are the most crowded events on property. Bench seating is what everyone would want.

  21. Anon

Blames the sheriff’s office for an incident there is no proof of and no marks left, just a he-said she-said incident. “Do something because I said it happened and don’t believe the other people at all.” Then get told they have to fly back down to testify and still blame police rather than understand how the law works.

  22. Hugh Jardon

*Everybody* in this story sounds insufferably annoying. Yes, this absolutely includes Lexie.

The police lied and said video of the incident doesn’t exist because she was so annoying and they didn’t want to deal with her any longer. It’s Epcot– There’s no way that every square inch of that park isn’t under video surveillance. They could probably produce a hologram video of the incident if needed.

  23. John

So, there are layered problems here. First .. lexie isnt entitled to “social distance” on a bench or table or park ride. If she wNted to social distance wither stand or stay home. Secondly the mother just cant take matters into her own hands . Even verbally escalating the situation shouldnt have. Een done. Its not the place for it. Park staff should have been alerted and the backpack removed by them and having them address the logical reason why lexie isnt entitled to her own space

  24. henchman

    umm… I’ve been turned into a cow…. Can I go home?

  25. SG

Disney’s Health Acknowledgment that YOU clicked/agreed to states that you follow the guidelines, which go into detail that you, among other things, social distance 6 feet from each other.
    1.Lexie was there first
2.She politely said the backpack is there for social distancing.
THAT should have been the end of it.

Don’t believe me? Open your Disney app and read and open the link. YOU agreed to it or you wouldn’t have been there. Respect
