The Delta Variant is keeping people away too. But it is truly shocking to see Space Mountain 15 min (I’ve seen it that low multiple times over the last week). They need to totally scrap any ideas of launching Genie+ this Fall.
The Delta variant has little to nothing to do with it. Knott’s is busier than ever.
So what we need to look at is why the difference?
Well, Knott’s has more entertainment offerings, doesn’t require masks indoors If you are vaccinated and isn’t charging extra for every little thing that used to be included. Yes, they charge for their FastLane, but they always have. But initial admission is substantially less expensive.
The bottom line is Disney is getting greedy, isn’t offering shows and people aren’t having it.
SeaWorld also remains very popular, as does the San Diego Zoo and Safari park.
Universal isn’t fairing as well due to mask requirements as well. But at least that in isn’t self imposed like it is at Disney.
So, does it surprise me wait times are low at Disney? Not at all.
You can also throw in that Knotts Berry Farm and Sea World admission is substanially less than Disney. Families are getting more for their vacation dollars by avoiding over priced Mickey Mouse.
I am a rideshare driver and am in the area almost daily and never in the four years I have been driving have I seen the lack of crowds going to and from the park anytime of the day and including the weekend. People are being careful and I think they are waiting until the DELTA variant nmbers go down a bit. Orange County has been a hot spot this time and you can thank the anti-vaxers for spreading the virus. It is now the perfect time to visit the parks and enjoying all the rides time and time again!
