There is one major step that future Guests must take when it comes to booking a Walt Disney World vacation — deciding where to stay. There are over 25 hotels on Disney property with a variety of different themes and a number of different price points. For some Guests, they are unable to choose just one hotel, so they decide to do what is called a split stay — this means they spend a certain amount of days at one Disney Resort hotel, then move to a different Disney Resort hotel for the rest of their trip.
For Guests who are doing a split stay, Disney’s Bell Services has, to date, transferred luggage from one hotel to the other for no additional fee! All Guests have to do is let Bell Services know that they would like their bags transferred to their second hotel, and a Cast Member will can come to pick up all baggage. Alternately, Guests can bring their bags to Bell Services for the transfer to occur.
However, there is one big change that is coming in regard to luggage transfers. Bell Services will no longer transfer any perishable items from one Disney hotel to another. All perishable items must be handled by Guests only — they can either take the items with them or dispose of them before they leave their first hotel. Prior to this announcement, Bell Services had been willing to transfer food items between Disney hotels.
For Guests who have not used Bell Services for a luggage transfer, here is some more information on the free service from the official planDisney website:
On the morning of check-out of your first Disney Resorts Collection hotel stay, let Bell Services know you’re transferring to your next Disney hotel. You can call them to pick your luggage up from your room, or you can drop off your bags yourself. It could take up to 30 minutes if you’d like Bell Services to pick up the luggage from your room, so if you’re in a rush that morning, I recommend taking your luggage down with you to Bell Services. They’ll hand you a tag with the total number of bags being transferred and will take care of the rest! Keep in mind that luggage transfers can take a few hours, so keep anything you may need during the day on hand, such as medications, your tickets, etc. Bell Services cannot transfer perishable items, so those will need to also go with you.
Each Disney hotel has its own Bell Services that Guests can contact if they would like to have their bags transferred to another hotel during their split stay at Walt Disney World hotels.
It is important for Guests to note that, due to the pandemic, hotels may not have all of their offerings currently available. Make sure to check out the Walt Disney World website for complete information on your hotel.
