It’s all hypocritical behavior by the CDC. Businesses will begin to close but not reopen this time around. Masks only protect the sick. If you’re sick stay home. We have been following the same guidance for 1.5 years and it didn’t do anything. Why are we masking up and social distancing again? Waste of time. People who want to get vaccinated can get vaccinated. That has always been how this country has function and should remain the same. Do not punish people for making a decision that is their own fundamental right. No one is forcing you to leave your house if you’re that afraid, but to limit people’s freedom for their own personal choice that could be related to religious practices or other health conditions.

      I agree!
I am vaccinated and I did wear a mask up until the point. We didn’t have to here in California. And overall, yes what did it do? Even in this left-wing state the cases have gone up again! At what point do we just let folks do what they feel is best for them?
I did what I feel is best for me, as did all of my family.

And this whole nonsense of wearing a mask indoors? Please!
So I go into a Lowe’s with 30-foot high ceilings and I have to wear a mask again?
Or I go into a restaurant and wear a mask as I walk to my table but then it is off for an hour while we are eating?
Or I am inline at Disney outside with 100s of other people but somehow when I go into the indoor queue, even tho most of the ceiling are also high, all of a sudden it is not as safe?

None of that makes any sense at all and both the CDC and Biden (and dictator Newsom) are going to cause another massive downturn and closing of businesses.

If anyone feels it is not safe to go out or go to Disney – Don’t go! If you feel the need to keep wearing a mask – wear it! I may choose to as well at one point, but that is MY choice!

Yes I think people should get vaccinated. It’s free and even if it only helps somewhat at least that is better than not at all. But again, their choice to put themselves more at risk and live with that.

I’m sad we didn’t get Gruesome Newsome out months ago. We need to start petitions again if possible. This is crooked. He hasn’t suffered for it…even kept open businesses and events that helped him line his pockets. I agree that it should be a choice…this is America. It made sense in the very beginning out of caution but now this is ridiculous. I have so many medical professionals in my family from doctors and surgeons to nurses that have seen most of the trouble and an elderly care professional. Most of them don’t wear masks outdoors at all and hardly wear them indoors, they just try to stay socially distanced of course, wash hands etc. It’s common sense. Two of them (one is an MD) didn’t even get the vaccine. One for pre existing medical condition and other personal choice. Yet they are two that rarely wear masks unless told to and they have been healthy this whole time besides minor colds. I had a waiver for my child a few months ago…didn’t know the CDC itself was giving guidelines for people to do so….with mental disorders and asthma….to not have to wear masks at all. It worked for Legoland. Was a great trip. No one got sick. It was awesome. We were so excited to return to Disneyland as we were supposed to go right when the shutdown happened. I’m nervous that they won’t acknowledge our waiver. Then they need to refund us. It’s not easy for us to coordinate time off work or save money etc but we did it since the guidelines were lifted for vaccinated folk like us and our kid with the waiver. We wouldn’t have done it or got our kids hopes up if this is how it was going to be.

    2. Tom

Indeed. I don’t get why someone at this point would be risking going at all to a place like Disneyland if they are so worried about it they still want everyone to wear a mask. No common sense. I get if you “have” to go to a grocery store or something….but you don’t NEED to go to Disneyland. If you’re paying good money and taking the time off work to go then live and let live and understand everyone has a right to respect one anothers space and choices. If someone is nervous about the crowds then they can wear a mask. But it shouldn’t be demanded when it’s a recreational place where people walk around most the day, especially when it’s hot and kids that might not tolerate it well are being forced to wear masks in the “happiest place on earth”…well that will be a thing of the past for sure. Lol At that point my kid would rather be in the backyard or the pool. I guess to each their own but they put effort in to make the parks for adults as well more than in the last decades….I’m not having fun either when my glasses fog up no matter how many things I’ve tried along with menopause, and 90 degree weather. Asking for disaster. I hope this is all a joke and they detract from it soon. The CDC also had guidelines for people to get valid medical waivers for severe asthma, mental disorders etc …our kid was allowed to not wear a mask at LegoLand dye to this waiver even when people still had to wear them everywhere no matter what. If Disney won’t allow our waiver they need to refund our money and then some for a screwed up vacation and violating our rights. They already got sued by people…who won. I don’t get how any of this makes sense to some people. And yes at the end of the day Disney might be ok but so many other businesses are gone already from this and more to surely follow if the restrictions don’t lessen. We need to go forward not backward. The fact that they are so put off by the new strain justakes me question why I got the vaccine in the first f***ing place….last dose 3 weeks ago and for what??! To have my rights further snuffed out? Someone needs to wake up sleepy Joe or something. Thought he was going to be better with Kamela and this is just staying wrong.

Masks are merely a tool of conformity and control of the masses. This is America, not Cuba. Take your mask rules and shove them where the sun don’t shine!

    1. Tom

      Amen

  3. V.

I don’t think people are going to stand for being locked down again. Not after so many businesses didn’t survive the first go at it. You can only try to scare people for so long before they realize that nothing that was imposed upon them made any difference.

    1. Tom

I hope not but where I am in CA too many people still wearra masks driving alone in their cars for goodness sakes. Not Uber drivers or etc either. And people walking with their kids outdoors not near anyone…and I wonder if the lack of good fresh dircet air has killed braincells. Lol I know about 2 handfuls medical professionals just in my family, personally, not incl. Their co workers etc I’ve talked with, my own doctors etc….and most agree this is insane at this point, some don’t even have the vaccine by choice, the two that haven’t agreed this is crazy are mostly just quiet. Maybe out of concern that they won’t fit in with the crowd idk….but I think they just are confused or know the truth and don’t want to say it. The vaccine was to be to reward people and also as Americans we are supposed to have the right to choose….and not have freedom limited because of our choice.

  4. Bryan

This is just going to hurt businesses yet again.

I have only attended theme parks recently because they have no mask mandate. Now if they mandate this useless crap again, bye bye again theme parks.

Start taking my money to businesses that don’t force me to wear a mask

  5. Vote Republican

Mumbles and the Democratic Party are ruining this country!

    1. Kenr

Agreed. Vote every democrat out unless you enjoy having them tell you how to be safe and making you wear useless, stupid masks.

  6. Sue

Note: this so called Delta variant did not show up until people started getting vaccinated.
All this fear over a virus that has a 97% recovery rate. In fact there is an 86% chance you will never get it.
Covid19 did not increase the number of deaths.
It’s all about controlling the masses. Go about your life. If you want to wear a mask or get vaccinated it’s your choice. But stop harassing the people who choose not to. Do some research. There is nothing to fear.

    1. Tom

Amen. Many health care workers in my family and friends and most say the same thing! This is a violation of American freedom and consumerism.

  7. Sue

In Florida the governor has banned any and all enforcement of the mask, especially on children. Most police departments will no longer respond to those calls.

  8. Manny

False statistics and bold face lies are not only irresponsible but deadly. The mask mandates are federal and by the CDC. Simply stated governors cannot simply make up rules at their whim.

Personally I am getting fed up with anti-vaxers and those who choose to spread disease. Contact tracing should be used to contact those which are actually causing harm to the public.

The only saving grace is Darwin’s theory is starting to hold true.

Now those that are not vaccinated are the ones dying. Natural selection working its way through the population.

Where are the cases the worst?

In Arkansas, which has one of the lowest vaccination rates in the nation, with only about 33% of the population fully protected, cases, hospitalizations and deaths are rising.

Is this a surprise to anyone?

    1. Deb

Manny you are confused. They are not federal mandates but federal guidelines. Think 10th amendment. The problem here is human nature. You go to a theme park and know their rules. If you are not vaccinated you need to wear a mask indoors. Many people refuse to do it. And at that point they risk getting covid or giving it to others. Yes I’m vaccinated, but with my luck I can just see getting a breakthrough infection. So when the parks are impacted it will be too late. CM will lose their jobs due to low attendance or closure. I have no intentions of getting on a plane and getting stuck there because some people won’t follow a simple rule that they agreed to when they enter any park. So when the infection rates go down Disney will see me.

      1. Tom

Well I’m glad you’re being cautious in your own way. It’s your freedom ..for now. That’s the point if you’re too worried stay home. The facts are that most people will be ok making the choice. Wether or not others wear masks. If you’re creepy and need to be shoulder to shoulder with a stranger or walk around with your mouth open and no mask, don’t wash your hands etc then yeah you are likely to get sick. Disney is about fun and also was always about freedom for all to enter and have fun and they respected all kinds of disabilities and ages. Mask mandates disrespect that. The CDC is hypocritical. They gave out guidelines for medical professionals to also waive people with a myriad of conditions. If you have chronic asthma, if you have SPD, if you have a skin disorder, etc….I thought the asthma one was odd but knowing people with bad asthma who got it and were fine I see why they allow that. My sister ended up in the hospital twice for bad attacks (no COVId yet) and the nurses would roll their eyes and tell her to take off her mask and keep it off until ymger breathing was back and “only wear when necessary” ie; within 6 feet of others, in a windy area, aren’t feeling particularly well…etc. Suprisingly when she got COVID it was scary but she wasn’t even put on a ventilator because of the shortage and even with bad asthma they just gave her extra medication and in a week she was ready to go to work. Again, glad you’re keeping yourself safe. If you feel that way great but in a recreational activity where I paid good money and took precious time off work with my family to go because I thought being vax. And my kid having a waiver meant no masks…..this is a violation and Disney has already been sued over similar.

    2. Tom

Ok troll. Go somewhere else please don’t pollute a real discussion with your trolling and terrorism. Or do you actually believe what you’re spewing??? I guess if you want to bend over and take it then you go ahead but to say anyone non vaccinated for COVID is a non vaxxer you’re already out of your mind or the dullest tool in the shed. IF the AK stats are even true (all other stats have been made up so wow…car accidents with people with anti bodies counted as COVId deaths, etc…). You’ve obviously never taken a basic level biochemistry class probably not even biology in college…if you’re not just a little child trolling as I do suspect…you would understand how getting a vaccine protects you and you alone. You don’t actually help anyone more than you would by staying home when sick ….which you still need to do when sick. Also realized you must not have any medical professionals you know personally or at least you don’t listen to them or you know one that’s drinking the Kool aid. If you really are so scared then you can get therapy, lots of resources on the internet, and know you will likely be ok (if Darwinism isn’t very accurate anyway you will be ok…fingers crossed). If it makes you feel better make sure to wear three face masks on top of one another and a face shield. And breathing itself is just probably so unsafe maybe you should weigh your options…

With free highly effective vaccines available and with the majority of at risk individuals vaccinated, it is wrong to have mask mandates and other Covid related restrictions. The hospitals are not overrun, and the death rate is minuscule. Children are at very low risk. The average age of a person who died of Covid is higher than the overall average age of all deaths. That is true science and statistics. One more fact: Michigan was the Covid Epicenter last March and April and they had masks mandates and restaurant closures until May. Mask did not make one bit of difference. People are free to where mask 24/7 if they want but nobody should be forced to.

“Medical art encompasses a wide range of applications from patient communication and information to medical teaching and training. It is also used by the pharmaceutical industry to help explain their products and in the court room to help lay jury members understand complex topics.” University of Dundee.
It’s also trial and error. People need to understand COVID-19 is fairly new and complex. We’ve (the world, not just the US) made it worse by letting it spread and mutate to a more potent version than the original. Viruses mutate, one reason why we don’t have a cure (vaccine, nose spray) for the common cold. Luckily the common cold doesn’t kill, unless you are weak, ie the immune suppressed.
Vaccines work: Smallpox, Polio, Flu, Measles, Tetnus, COVID-19, etc. Breakthrough is not new, and unfortunately now those of us who are fully vaccinated are vulnerable (Delta mutation) but better protected than the unvaccinated. Masks work – why do you think surgeons wear them?
IF we ALL got vaccinated there world be no COVID-19. That’s not possible. But if those of us that could get vaccinated made the effort to do so AND we all wore masks we’d have so few cases that we could actually DO contact tracing and quarantine as needed. Unfortunately too many Americans believe this is a hoax. Or they don’t care because they survived this long. So, like one of you already said, Darwin’s theory is proving to be true.

SG, surgeons wear masks in a sterilized environment to protect the surgeons face from splashes and sprays from the patient. Contamination protection is mainly for large-scale transfer. i.e. to protect you from something like a chunk of the surgeons lunch being coughed out into your open wound. Also, the mask a surgeon would wear is going to be very different from something the public buys in bulk from Amazon. You are comparing apples and oranges.
