This is the first I’m hearing of accusations of classism in the South regarding this character. I’ve heard of people plain not liking him, but I’ve never seen that accusation before this article… and I look for that kind of stuff.
Why does everything have to have an “ism” attached to it? If the antagonist is a wealthy person will people start labeling it “Wealthism” or if the protagonist a shorter individual who is bullied at high-school is that “Heightism”? There are a myriad of things wrong in our society and need to be corrected, but poor kids being raised by a single parent exist in the South. The 1% tend to be removed and indifferent to the masses. These are realities, and to attempt to wipe away their portrayal is akin to refusing they exist in this visceral experience we call life.

If you check the back package of those $35 web shooters at Avengers Campus, there’s a note that they’re also “Designed by Harley Keener”.

There’s also a poster of him with his information and contributions to W.E.B. on the wall during the ride queue for Web Slingers.

How is he a controversial character????

Literally no one has a problem with the character and there is no controversy. The so called controversy is made up for this article. So stupid.

Why not add him to the MU? Comics change, story line s need to update and all books need “new blood” to keep readers invested.
