Yeah none of what you say is true. Both Abrams and Johnson have gone in record to say Reys lineage was planned from the start. Whilst not as meticulously detailed as a Marvel plan there still was an overall story to it, which is very much in Star Wars tradition.
Not really. Multiple reports and leaks from Lucas film, including what Daisy has said confirmed her lineage was not planned, and changed a lot throughout the diad trilogy.
Hell, it’s STILL changing as we speak in the comics as they allude to Palpatine’s son being a clone of either Anakin or Luke.
There was never a plan. And sure Disney is to blame, but they hired the guy who set out to destroy the franchise, and didn’t stop him at any step along the way. Both are to blame, but the guy who pulled the trigger gets the blame over the guy who hired him.
Everyone is to blame for Star Wars failing like it did. Rian Johnson, J.J. Abrams, the Disney CEOs who have put female audiences first instead of sharing the Disney dream to everyone regardless of gender, and the feminist zealot herself Kathleen Kennedy. You can spin this anyway you want, but it doesn’t change the fact that wrong people are in power that caused this disaster. Never confuse efficiently with a liver complaint.
The Last Jedi was the worst of the Star Wars movies. Blame lies everywhere but mostly on Rian Johnson, and Kathleen Kennedy. They both should never touch another Star Wars Movie.
If Rian Johnson is not to blame for Crap Wars VIII The Last Jedi, then by your logic, firing Gina Carano is not the reason why Disney + subscriptions have been cancelled.
So it’s okay to objectively speak how trash the movie is now? I was told I was a Russian bot plus sexist racist and whatever other isms for not liking the movie.
There are several people who can he blamed for ruining Star Wars, Rian Johnson near the top of the list. The toxic portion of the fan base is another.
At the end of the day, Disney hired the wrong people to spearhead the sequel trilogy. By his own admission Johson isn’t a great writer and has no interest in world building. That’s a problem when you are tasked with telling a chapter in the story of a particular space-faring family.
As a generic sci-fi action blockbuster, typical of the summer releases of old. The Last Jedi fits the bill somewhat adequately. It’s a movie that you can really put much thought into, it’s just there for the visual effects. As a chapter that is supposed to fit in an overarching story in the SKYWALKER SAGA, it fails miserably.
It’s quite telling that the best Star Wars movie we got from Disney was Rogue One.
Multiple sources have confirmed that Kennedy and her story group were responsible for the character assassination of Luke Skywalker, among other woke garbage forced into ep. 8. Whether Rian went along with it in order to keep in her good graces for future considerations or whether he fully agreed with it remains unclear.
However, Rian’s decision to not just ignore plot points introduced ep. 7 but to go ahead and deliberately trash them was evidently his doing as an inept storyteller, though obviously endorsed and allowed by Kennedy.
Episode 8 was at best a complete waste of time, and a gaping hole in the story arc of the trilogy. Instead of character development and rising stakes, we got space horses being saved on a casino planet and a smug, purple haired dictator who couldn’t lead a crew if her life depended on it. (There was cheering in the theaters when she took herself out near the end, but not for the reasons Disney would have hoped.)
How meaningless was ep. 8? By simply adding a few additional phrases to the opening crawl of ep. 9 explaining that Snoke had died stupidly and Skywalker had died pointlessly, the cancerous tumor that is ep. 8 could be skipped entirely without being missed in any way.
Much of the reason that ep. 9 felt like such a hurried mess was that it had to not only course correct from Rian’s dumpster fire, but it also has the cover the story development that should have taken place over the course of both ep. 8 and 9. At least Ryan successfully subverted fan expectations as he repeatedly mentioned was his goal. Unfortunately, those fan expectations were for a coherent trilogy and at least a basic respect for all the story and world building that had come before him. The man has no business being involved in a trilogy, or anything Star Wars, ever again. He could not have made that more clear.
Comments for Why Disney Ruined ‘The Last Jedi’, Not Rian Johnson
Cushing
Sure dude whatever you say
Dyllan J Tapley
Lol that is not accurate. The man was championed as the main writer and director. He has the same control Lucas did.

Johnson and Kennedy created that trash heap of a movie. Even my kids hated it.

James DeRuvo
What a crap load of nonsense. Clearly written by a Rian Johnson fanboy.
Jared F Williss
The Last Jedi is a brilliant film and easily the best of the Skywalker saga.
BJ Wyler
Even my 16 year old recognized as the worst screenplay she has ever seen.
LORIE E PINNECOOSE
Rian Johnson ruins everything though.
Dyllan J Tapley
He did ruin the movie he has total creative control over, main writing and directing credits and story credit.
Chris

Or are you incredibly stupid!
Can easily show how wrong you re, but I can;t be bothered. As you’re just another lazy “jouro” who’ll print what ya told!
