Well it’s obvious the CCP will continue lying to the public with their regurgitated fear control so these businesses need to stand up and actually follow real science and common sense and say, no more masks outside! Enough is enough if the bs! It’s our body and our choice! If youre scared of this invisible non existent voodoo virus, then stay home.
Glad to see the ignorance lives on. If you have the unfortunate experience of losing a loved one to covid you probably wouldn’t post such irresponsible comments. I’m glad Universal is not changing protocols until they feel the time is right. I have no problem wearing a mask if it’s to protect myself or others while trying to have a good time carrying on normal activities. Do you #Universalorlando
Why don’t you research better, it’s out there for all
to read, masks do zero to keep any particles out but hey you carry on believing and when you! think it’s safe take your diaper off. lol you people are ridiculous, CDC says one thing and you do the other. Your probably that person that will continue to wear it even when the all mighty god CDC says it’s safe ??♀️
Caz, don’t know where you’re getting your information but it’s completely and utterly B.S. The research validating mask reduction in particulates is incontrovertible. It’s basic physics, materials science, and chemistry. It’s really, really simple to understand and plenty of university and independent health agency research is available. You don’t need to trust the CDC. Go to scholar.google.com and do a search on cloth mask effectiveness with covid-19. You’ll find dozens of research articles that validate how and why they work, and how well they work.
If you have the unfortunate experience of losing a loved one to covid you probably wouldn’t post such irresponsible comments.”
This is arrogant and rude nonsense. I had a cousin die in a car accident. Do I no longer ride in cars? Risk is part of life. Don’t make stupid and outright rude comments.
There is NO evidence that anyone gets covid outside. Florida beaches have shown no correlation to covid cases. The virus also has an exceptionally low fatality rate and if you are scared you are free to get the vaccine.
Cedar Fair has already announced no masks on rides and outside in open areas as it should be.
You are statistically more likely to die in a car crash on your way to Universal than from covid.
Aaron – So, I can presume you won’t be offended if I say people who die in car accidents are stupid because if they weren’t, they’d be alive? Probably really tick you off. So, how do you think people who had relatives/friends die from Covid feel about posts calling Covid “an invisible non existent voodoo virus” feel?
No one is preventing YOU from wearing a mask. By all means wear five, if you believe it keeps you safer. I take appropriate measures to keep my family safe.
If you want to be reminded every 5 minutes that you need a mask unless sitting down to eat or drink (because we all know how convenient Covid is for diners) Universal studios is the place to be. Mindless masked sheeple wandering around everywhere void of any free thought and hostile park employees who have had a taste of SS army life and don’t want to give it up
That’s a shame, from what people were saying about their experiences, I had heard Universal was a little more relaxed than Disney when it came to the masks. It had me considering a trip there over giving my funds to the mouse.
People aren’t actually bothered by you not wearing a mask. If it was such a big deal, they would just stay away from you. They are bothered that you’re disobedient. They are bothered that your strength shines a light on their weakness.
Reminds me of the airlines. They want you to social distance while getting on and off the plane but have no problem cramming you 6 inches apart on the plane.
I agree that it is all show. What is really disturbing is how the airlines will boot a 2 year old off a plane for not properly wearing a mask, even though that age group is at super low risk. The sheep then cheer at the bold action. Then later in the flight, the airline sells drinks on board and then the masks come off while they sip it for the next hour.
Don’t forget, they’ll boot a family off the airplane if a two year old won’t keep the mask on, but they’ll sell cocktails in flight and the drinker will sip that drink for an hour without the wearing stupid mask. Yet another example of pure idiocy. For all you outside masks zealots, you look like fools.
The rules should be simple: mask mandates for guests = attendance restriction mandates for theme parks. Said another way, full profits and full employment for theme parks and their workers = no mask mandates for guests.
If you all would get vaccinated, those of us already vaccinated could stop wearing masks. We’re not wearing masks to protect ourselves. We’re wearing them to protect those that won’t/can’t get vaccinated. Now that vaccines are available to almost all adults in the US, there’s no excuse (except ignorance) for not getting vaccinated. The fastest and best way to “get back to normal” and to avoid being “forced” to wear a mask in public is to get yourself and your family vaccinated.
We were at Universal all last week and despite the annoyance of having to wear a mask, everyone managed to do it and survive (it’s amazing how folks can do that when they want to!). The crowd seemed to enjoy itself and no one had a meltdown for being forced to wear a mask to enter the park. There are some silly safety measures being taken by Universal (e.g. mandating social distancing in long lines outside while cramming people together immediately upon entering the ride/line inside) but in general, they are trying. A review with a scientific eye at actually improving COVID safety protocols rather than some “safety theater” measures would go a long way to improving things (there were a number of silly things being implemented while other, more effective means were ignored) and allowing for people to attend the parks safely.
Following public health measures is not “virtue signaling”. No one says that wearing shoes or a shirt in a restaurant is “virtue signaling”, nor do they say that about vaccinating kids to attend public schools or refraining from smoking while indoors. I assume by refusing to abide by or forgoing masks/vaccines that you also refusing to abide by all kinds of other public health and safety measures, like stopping at traffic lights, wearing a seat belt, etc. as well as all those other “pesky” safety measures implemented by Universal like minimum ride heights, restraint bars, fire code restrictions/crowd size, etc.
Lisa, the usage of the Covid vaccine will pretty much mirror the usage of the flu shot. Every year, the flu kills some amount of people in an at-risk group with only a small percentage of the population bothering to get a flu shot. Those who are in that at risk group, or just more anxious about it will get a Covid shot, those who are not in that compromised group and are comfortable with the low level of risk will not. You don’t need to wear your mask to protect those who choose to forgo the shot. They are aware of any risks and have chosen to move on. So yes, there are enough vaccines available for anyone who wants them now. There is no need to continue to mask up at this point unless it just makes someone feel better and if that’s the only reason, usage should be optional.
On top of this, the longer people stay unvaccinated, the more chances a virus has to develop mutations. And if the mutations are significant, they could lead to more troubling strains that might evade vaccines, and this of course, directly affects me and my family.
“First of all, the vaccines aren’t 100% effective. Second, not everyone can be vaccinated. Some people are on cancer chemotherapy. They can’t be vaccinated — they depend on the herd to protect them. And third, by not being vaccinated, or being part of a reasonably sized group of people who are choosing not to get the vaccine, you’re allowing the virus to continue to replicate. When it’s allowed to continue to replicate, it will create mutations, which could then cause variants that are completely resistant to the immunity induced by natural infection or immunization.”
– Dr. Paul Offit, director of the Vaccine Education Center at the Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia and a member of the FDA’s Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee
Lisa, considering the recovery rate is at around 99%, I don’t think those people have much to fear, but nice try on the whole “ignorance and political ideology” thing. I’ll follow the science thanks. I had it along with the rest of my family and it was pretty much a cold that hung on a bit longer than your typical bout. (Incidentally, we all caught it despite consistently wearing masks in public since a June 2020 mask mandate) Having been through that, if it is possible to get it again, I don’t have much fear of it. Let’s concentrate on protecting that small at-risk bracket who needs it, (though those people already take measures even in a normal year), and let healthy people be.
a) The death rate is more like 5%, not 1%. Even with a 1% death rate, that means that 3 million people in the US would die from COVID if everyone caught it.
b) Not dying (i.e. “recovered”) doesn’t mean perfectly fine. 45% of the people who end up in the hospital end up needing “ongoing support”. 1 in 20 people who get COVID are reported to have symptoms for more than eight weeks. Longer term effects are currently still relatively unknown but “long COVID” is a significant problem, even in young people.
c) Masks aren’t intended to protect you (other than medical grade N95 masks). They are intended to protect others. Preventing further transmission of the disease throughout the community is their primary function. So you catching COVID isn’t surprising if you wore a mask. What counts is what others around you were doing.
d) One anecdotal story about you and your family coming through a COVID infection without concern is not “science”. You are discounting the actual statistics and the 575,000 people that have actually died in the US in the last year (and millions more with “long COVID” or other complications) despite the best efforts of our medical community.
These questionable mask requirements have become a political statement and that is just a fact. If people really want to “follow the science” vaccinated people would net wear them, children would net be forced (abused) to wear them as they are at extremely low risks, and you certainly would not be wearing them outside or alone. At this point, the government is hanging on to this pandemic which made them more relevant and powerful. With so many already recovered, along with 100 million fully vaccinated, and vaccines available for everyone over 16, there should be no more restrictions. If an individual can’t find their way to get vaccinated for free, they assume the risks and consequences. I should not have to dumb myself down for them. If they can’t get vaccinated, I’m sorry, but that is the unfairness of life and they need to take their own precautions.
