I guess we’ll see how this affects attendance at the park maybe Disney will ease up? I wouldn’t honestly want to go to a water park if I had to wear a mask it just doesn’t make sense. I get though you don’t have to wear it in the water but still if I’m going from ride to ride getting wet AND wear swim trunks I’m not gonna carry a mask with me that just doesn’t work.

    1. Burnthemask

You’re absolutely right. None of this makes sense.

    2. Kris R

I completely agree. Disney is going overboard/caving into the unions to its own detriment. I went to Aquatica several times since it reopened last Summer and it’s been so much fun. I could not/would not go if they had required me to wear a mask to and from every pool or ride.

The real question is if you don’t need a mask to be in line for a water slide why on earth do you need one to be in line for slash mountain?

Does the covid know that it isn’t allowed to infect people at the water park?

      1. Kelli

Exactly!!!! The rules are just non sensical masks could be required inside and I might go but outside all the time is just ridiculous

    4. Lina

You don’t have to carry it with you. You only need it while in line to get food or souvenirs. The rest of the time you can leave it off. It’s not bad at all.

  2. The state of Florida says that Walt Disney World can force guests to wear a mask because its private property. Most places do not require a mask outside. (Disney does.) I think it has something to do with better ventilation.

  3. Kris R

I agree that Disney is virtue-signaling here and to its own detriment. Wearing a mask in a water park is stupid. Aquatica reopened last Summer, does not require masks inside the park, and the same with Volcano Bay and other water parks around the country. Nobody claims that these are “super-spreaders” or otherwise caused anyone problems. I’m glad that fans are calling out Disney for this ridiculous requirement.

Having been to Disney World and Universal Orlando multiple times, Disney has always gone overboard with the safety protocols. The parking lot tram has to make a 30 second announcement everytime its ready to move. Universal allows people to have some personal responsibility. This is why I like certain themeing at Disney better than Universal but Universal is a more enjoyable experience for basically anyone over the age of 13.

  4. Rational thinker

We are going for 2 weeks in June and are scrapping plans to make it a “Disney vacation” because these rules are absurd. They are going to kill somebody making them wear wet masks between slides. Volcano Bay here we come!

    1. Charles

I was just there last Tuesday, and you have to wear a mask at Volcano Bay in all the same places you have to at Blizzard Beach. I don’t know why this article states otherwise.

  5. Derek

It’s hard enough to breath when they are dry.. imagine the difficulty of trying to keep it dry nonetheless breathing thru it wet.. Guess Disney is going to fishing a lot of masks and plastic bags out of the filtration system.

    1. Ben

It’s not “hard to breathe” with a dry mask lol

      1. Truth

        Ahhhh yes it is

        1. Jessica J Parkhurst

No way I will not visit any state or attraction that interferes with my personal choice. I no problem with anyone who wants to wear a mask, but I will not wear a maskand if you don’t like it well tough stay home & miss out on life.

  6. Peter Glasgow

If anyone finds it hard to breath through a dry mask then maybe it would be best for them to stay at home during this global pandemic that has killed hundreds of thousands in the US alone? Just a thought.

    1. Andrew

Why don’t you stay at home and hide under your duvet while the rest of the world gets back to normal

      1. J

Honestly… the new normal is wearing a mask in public places that require it. You are asked to follow all kinds of rules everytime you leave your house. A mask is just a new addition to the theme park dress code. You are so quick to tell everyone to stay home if they don’t like things but how about you stay home and those of us that can follow a simple direction can get back to our lives by adapting to the new normal.

    2. Rusty shackleford

Maybe if you’re so afraid of getting sick, you should stay home with your mask and let the people who aren’t afraid live their lives as we always have

      1. Mitchell

Everyone wants to live their life and be back in a normal atmosphere that we had pre-covid but when you’ve seen friends and family struggle in the ICU because they can’t breathe or worse pass away, they don’t want to take a risk not only for themselves but their family or anyone that they may unknowingly come in contact with, pass on the covid virus to someone who is high risk and could potentially be deadly. I get it some people accept the fact that they could get covid but if you do get it, before you even realize you have it, you could have passed it on to dozen of others and not even know. They could die or spend weeks in the hospital and you wouldn’t even know. Many don’t want that responsibility and that’s why they respect others when it comes to the spread of this virus. Please be respectful to others, if they want to wear a mask to a water park, let them. Don’t criticize them for that and tell them to stay home. If they desire to go to a park but are held back by medical issues they are going to be upset, that’s the reality we live in, it’s affected all of us, some more than others, support those individuals by being positive and human. If someone has troubles breathing don’t ridicule them, it’s not their fault.

    3. Eric M

Some people aren’t gutless and understand that living involves more than simply staying alive

    4. Kelli

No the scared sheep need to stay home and let the rest of us live our life normally without face diapers it’s easy if your scared stay home

    5. Chris

Lol, you believe the fake inflated numbers?

  7. ChasUGC

I, for one, completely understand Disney. Many Americans just seem stuck on stupid regarding this pandemic. It was the same during the insurrection when the Republicans refused to wear masks and got many Democrats sick with Covid as a result. It is not your right to get other people sick and possibly die. Personally, I think that Disney really needs to stay closed to protect it’s workers from these anti mask idiots who are not only dangerous but also violent. This pandemic brought out an ugly side of America, the “Me First” attitude. This is why I not only wear my mask, but I also wear only N95 or KN95 masks to protect me from the idiot no-maskers during this pandemic. I’m sorry. I just don’t want to get sick, period. Especially, from some new deadly virus that is worse than the flu. You don’t see people dressing like it’s summertime during the winter, and you know why. It is because they don’t want to catch pneumonia. But, for some reason, these same people become ignorant or brain dead during this pandemic. I don’t get it.

    1. Michael

You’re wearing an N95 mask, and spreading your germs to other people. Regular masks don’t do this, so maybe you aren’t the person who should be talking about the “Me First attitude” lol

      1. Floo

Can you point to where you found that N95s spread viruses/bacteria while other mask types don’t?

    2. J

if you’re so afraid of people not wearing masks perhaps you should just stay home.

  8. Good Grief

How come the article doesn’t explain where the masks are actually required instead of perpetuating a false narrative? You don’t need to wear a mask in between slides or moving between the water areas. “… areas in which face coverings are required include the park entry and exit, all merchandise locations, all food and beverage locations, and locker, restroom, and changing areas.” So, ya know, dry off before you put the mask on. ?‍♀️

  9. Marla Duvall

I went to Disney today. What’s absolutely absurd, is there are drinking fountains everywhere for people to use (and they were using them) sooo.. people can touch the buttons, put their mouths to the drinking fountain, but have to wear a mask… So stupid. Also, there was no social distancing anywhere. Absolutely impossible most of the time.

  10. AJ

Cancelled our plans to Disney. Expecting little kids to wear masks (or else) is just too much

    1. John

If I fart and I’m wearing underwear and jeans, I can still stink up the room. Face masks don’t work.

      1. J

Well what a classy response. For the record you’re taking about blocking two entirely different states of matter…. in order to not smell flatulence one would need a gas mask. No one is wearing those except firefighters. To stop solid and liquid drops of matter that are flying from your mouth as you talk or sneeze one just needs a solid barrier. Like a mask. It’s totally your choice if you prefer to stay home because you don’t want to wear a mask in a theme park. I’m not going to blizzard beach because I don’t want to wear a mask at a water park either. But maybe check out a science book while you are boycotting the parks.

  11. Lina

The masks are only required when in line to get food or souvenirs also the restrooms… completely understandable becauseyou’re close to other guests. They NOT required while walking around the general attraction area or on any ride/ slide. It’s actually pretty relaxed. It’s nice to have fun and feel safe at the same told.

  12. Lina

Disney has the same rules, but see how people twist things?

  13. Kelli

No thank you! We went to aquatica twice and it is amazing would go again of course you have to muzzle up to walk in but after temp check other than in line for food which I can respect. Waking around the park outside should not require a mask and Disney goes way over also not allowing more comfortable options is ridiculous we have been pass holders for years but this is changing our minds seaworld was nice Didn’t have to wear the thing on rides had it down most of the time walking around no issues thought about blizzard beach but there rules don’t make sense how do you have to have the stupid thing walking around but can’t on slides I’m sure they will figure out that doesn’t work and only require inside like most parks but until then no thank you

  14. David

Deberían quitar las mascarillas en todos los parques. Para lo único que funciona la mascarilla es para quitarte el oxígeno

  15. Walter White

All of the people saying they won’t go to Disney because of masks, who cares. As you can see, Disney Parks are selling out as of this post. So stay away as long as you want, you won’t be missed. Meanwhile the people that aren’t ridiculous and know how to follow rules on private property will have as much fun as they want. You have the right to set whatever rules you want on your property. Don’t like it, don’t go. The rest of us will gladly take your place.

  16. Mike

Americans make me laugh. Completely tone deaf to what’s happening around them. Don’t like wearing masks? Then don’t go to Disney. Go hang out with your gun trotting cousins. Yes haw.

    1. Jasen

If you don’t like americans then leave.
Don’t let the door hit you on your way out of the country

  17. Chris

Seriously, if you have to wear a mask while walking around but not in the water, what do you do with the mask while you’re in the water?

    1. Daniel A De Arazoza

You don’t have to wear a mask around the park from ride to ride.

  18. William Eiler

Just got back from vacation, our resort was in Kissamee Florida. We ended up going to Seaworld and what a joke that was, your money would be better spent at a local zoo. Masks had to be worn through the whole park and even if you pulled your mask down for a second to get a breathe of fresh air you would get hassled by a park attendent. Spend your money else where. We had more fun at Clearwater Beach which we only paid for parking. Meanwhile the state of Florida lifted the mask mandate.

  19. Ryan

I just left Blizzard Beach 20 minutes ago. They only require masks while ordering food and going to the bathroom. The rest of the time you can walk around without a mask. It’s the least restrictive mask enforcement I’ve seen at a Disney park.

  20. Justme

    LMFAOO well said….

  21. Jasen

I will not return to Disney until the covid restrictions are removed. Why would ANYONE pay full price when half of everything there is closed. Not to mention getting yelled at because you drop your mask for 2 minutes to get some fresh air.
It’s official Disney magic is dead.
