Yeahhhhh, so could we have been better on making sure we know which actors from Star Trek are alive or dead? Because sadly Spock died a few years ago….. shoulda went with Capt. Kirk but nice try

    1. Alejandra

Thank you for this…I was just about to say the exact same thing.

    2. Michael

      Leonard Nimoy

      RIP

      Born: March 26, 1931

      Died: February 27, 2015

      1. Anthony

2 children complaining about nothing. Get over yourselves!

  2. Luuta

Of course Spock could also be Zack Q, not Leonard Nimoy, but William Shatner DID respond and he poo-poed the idea, being the grumpy old man he’s always been.

    1. Bluesun

Leonard Nemoy is the only Spock

    2. Bill

I’d say the logo is more of a rip off of pontiac not star trek turn it upside down and compare it for yourself

      1. Jimbo

Incorrect. The Pontiac logo came from the same source the Star Trek logo was derived. The Air Force Space Command

        1. James Waldbillig

The guardian’s are also a protagonist in halo

          1. RICHARD CLINE

You’re thinking of Call of Duty.

  3. Azazel

The people ragging on the Space Force are idiots it’s literally the coolest thing to come out of this Administration I don’t understand how SciFi fans arent nerding out about the possibilities here.

    1. Master Fusion

Simply put if it came from Trump admin it is bad. People are so obsessively hateful of Trump they turn away from things they would otherwise fully support. Had Obama or Biden done this all these people would be screaming about how cool it is rather than ignoring the shared history of NASA and Star Trek logo designs and names.

And I’m no Trump supporter but I’m not blinded by derangement syndrome so bad I can’t recognize how cool this is.

      1. Bluesun

        I completely agree with you

      2. Duderino

Agreed. They think they own generic words in the English language just because they made a movie that wasn’t even their own original IP.

    2. Teddy Ray

Because it’s stupid and unnecessary. Why in the world do we need a branch of the military in space?

      1. Omigosh

If just the satellites responsible for the GPS coordinate system were taken out most of our military equipment would instantly become functionally useless – unable to navigate and/or target.

China is already sending unmanned missions to the moon. If they established a base there they’d instantly economically and militarily dominate the Moon, the ability to have directed energy weapons in orbit, and thus the entire Earth and all its people.

  4. tom

now they cry couse they have no money more, and second thats trump haters…mark hamill why are u crying for the name of star aliance or guradians..you was never popular and will never be as mandalorian actor today…

    1. Nothing like being petty.

    2. Teddy Ray

I’m pretty sure both Mark Hamill and James Gunn have plenty of money. Also, learn how to spell and write proper sentences. Your comment looks like the rambling of a child or a mentally ill person.

    3. That guy

Wow, that is indeed some grammar.

  5. Keith Smith

What complete morons. You can’t copyright words such as “force” or “guardians” have these clowns lost their minds?

  6. Bradford Youngkin

One of the dumbest things I’ve ever read. The U.S Space.Command has used the Delta since early 1960s. The U.S. Coast Guard have been known informally as Guardians since 1915. There was a world before you were born.

    1. Bluesun

      Great comment 🙂

Imagine thinking because you directed a movie based off someone’s work, that it gives you the right to claim that the name can’t be used. Gunn’s years of failure at Troma Entertainment have had a major impact on his ego. Hammill’s only good role in any film was in the Star Wars franchise. Neither of those whiney egotistical people have any rights to claim anything. Apparently Hammill and Gunn don’t know how lawsuits work or that a lot of science fiction gets inspiration from real life. Even the name the Enterprise from Star Trek was taken from the Navy vessel which had the same name. I had a brother that served on that vessel until it was decommissioned years ago. Twitter is just the place for people to complain about everything.

        1. Rosanna Cogan

The original Enterprise was a wooden boat (it’s in a museum now) and was used in one of the Star Trek movies. If you look at the intro of the tv show “Enterprise” and you can see the original drawing of “HMS ENTERPRIZE” and you can also see the current day USS Enterprise in it as well.

    2. brong

And, folks, take a wild guess which aeronautics-focused branch of the military Gene Roddenberry served in…doesn’t take a detective to do the math here.

  7. Paul

    Pathetic

  8. Nothing like being petty.

  9. Bluesun

“the fact that the name “Guardians” clearly resembles Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy franchise.”

Hmm what’s that word for things that watch over things to keep them safe? Make sure you get that for the children when near James gunn

  10. Superfly

Hey dumbasses best do some research first on who is stealing what first. The emblem for star force has been used by the government way before star trek. Look at old NASA Patches to start with. Guardians is a great name to use and we all know the force is not real and again the word used way before 1978 i.e. Air Force. So why not Space Force. So take your snowflake leftists rhetoric somewhere else. This is real life not your fantasy make believe. Its been around a lot longer than Star Trek, Star Wars, and Guardians of the Galaxy. Grow up boys

  11. Corey

I wonder if these actors and directors know they have literally zero rights to sue. As well as the fact that the “attorney” who agreed to take the case is a random person on twitter who tweets about football constantly. And has never mentioned anything about being an attorney….

    1. W

I wonder of you realize these Tweets are jokes.

  12. Nathan bauscher

Just when I thought Mark Hamill couldnt be anymore of a whiney cry baby like his character. He goes and sues real astronauts over words. What a joke.

    1. That guy

Nobody is suing anyone. Learn to read.

  13. Jon

Immediately thought of Bungie’s video game Destiny. Players are called Guardians specifically and they are the “last hope of humanity” fighting across the Milky Way Galaxy. But i would like to remind people that the name for the members of Space Force was a winner from a submission contest. It even states it in the tweet that the naming process was with the help of submissions internal and external.

  14. Josh

I would like to point out that “star trek” logo has been used since long before star trek came out. People have been using variations of that logic for space branches for many many years.

  15. The Dad Bod

These dorks would be so excited, happy and honored if spade force happened to be created under Barack Obama.

As if anybody thought about their silly Sci-Fi movies when naming something Space Force, like the Air Force, or using an ancient term like Guardian because a comic book superhero movie used that word as well.

Regardless, they’re insulting an entire new branch of the military because they have tea TDR. That’s hilarious.

  16. Jw

The guardian’s are also a protagonist in halo

  17. The Space Force does have a Space Operations Command or SpOC for short…the Commander SpOC is Lt. Gen. Stephen Whiting (not a Vulcan).

They plan a Space Training And Readiness Command (I do not expect STAR Command will be headed by a Jason,if one remembers that Saturday morning kid show).

I agree that the words are generic and that trying to find something nobody had used before would only sound worse…let’s see what this armed service is able to accomplish in protection of space-based assets and services before dumping it on the bonfire with Trump’s more obvious mistakes.

  18. Perhaps these self important douchbags should be proud of the fact that their contributions to pop culture have reached the mainstream to a point that they are being taken seriously instead of focusing on the fact that it was the trump administration that implemented it and immediately dismissing it as foolish…

  19. Iggy

Funny that they blame Pence fr the slight. Funnier that, if it had been Obama/Biden, they would’vecheered a co-opted universe. Double standard from people that the average American would never allow their kids around. #Creepers. #hypocrites

  20. Andrew White

And then I, being a military member for the last 33 years; think of all the times the pretenders and players of hollywood have taken symbols, titles, likenesses, uniforms, tools, gear, equipment and vehicles of the military and other organizations. There were no insults, no ridicule and no snide remarks or “threats” of law suits. Also, the term Guardian has been used as a descriptive throughout time; Disney and the Guardians of the Galaxy are no where near the original users of the word.

  21. John E Manly

They need to grow the f… up.

  22. Scott

I’d have to ask, who really got inspired by who’s emblem (logo). Pretty obvious with some research which emblem came first. Funny thing too, that back in the early ’70s the Star Trek fans begged and pleaded for NASA to change the name of the first Space Shuttle to Enterprise. This was a glider/ test vehicle before Columbia ever went into space. The Star Trek creator and cast were present to observe it when it first rolled out. Now all everybody does is complain.

  23. Barron L Handy Jr

So you’re going to completely ignore the reply from the Space Force, huh?

  24. Nick

Maybe be honored or something less petty. The level people go to in order to show distain for the other political party is ridiculous! America is no longer made of united States

  25. Ryan

Yeah cause obviously the words “Guardians” and “Force” or exclusively owned by the Star Wars and Guardians of the Galaxy franchises. I highly doubt those words are copyrighted and I’m pretty sure they can be freely used. Not sure who the true “dorks” are, Mike Pence for announcing Space Force, or James Gunn and Mark Hamill for thinking you can copyright the words Force and Guardians. They’re just ready to pounce cause this thing came out of the Trump Administration. If Biden had announced Space Force, these guys would’ve been cheering and pushing for Disney to donate characters as mascots. What a bunch of idiots.

  26. Enki

These idiots should be honored that their fictional world has influenced reality, instead they throw shade. Your existence is laughable. Keep your opinions where they belong, in fantasy land
